Hey! Been great! Living the life. New job, new city, really happy. How are you bud??
Good morning all. Long time no see, hope everyone's doing well!
Thanks all :)
How is everyone doing? you all making some green???
Hey gang,
I just wanted to stop in and say hi. Now that I have the new job, I have had absolutely zero time to even look at the stock market. I'm currently taking a break from trading as I spend the next 5 weeks in training. The good thing is that the industry that I am in, there is ton's of money to be made... insurance! :)
Hope you are all doing well and taking profits!!!
Sounds like a pretty good portfolio to me!
Thank you DA you too! What are you currently in?
One thing that I would highly recommend especially if someone is new to options is stay away from the ETF's. Those things are so extremely volatile compared to a company stock. I would highly recommend playing the stocks until you are sure you have a feel for how to trade them then you can play the ETFs if you really want to. You need a strong stomach to play those because everything changes daily.
If you asked AD, he would tell you the same thing that I'm about to. If you want to play ETF's only day trade them, don't hold them overnight. How do I know he would say the same thing? I was in those shoes a little over a year ago :)
Good luck to both of ya!
Bought TGT weekly $60 calls @ 1.64
Sold TGT weekly $60 calls @ 2.46
Not the biggest profit and the 60.98 resistance held. Didn't want to risk holding over night.
But not bad for 50% overnight.
This market is getting very very sad. Down 700 points since the election.
Any guesses on when the bleeding stops?
NFLX bounced exactly off the 200ma (80.90). Will be interested to see if it tests it again today and what happens after that.
Currently I hold no position.
TGT
Beat analysts expecations on EPS. Analysts projected .77 they reported .92 EPS. (This is exactly what I thought would happen and why I bought see link back).
However, they missed on revenues (Analysts projected 16.93billion they reported 16.6 billion which was a 3.4% increase over last year 3Q).
Shares popped then are around even at the time of this post.
Well I was right on my prediction of beating EPS. But missed on revenues. Hopefully the shares can pop back up.
Also this was another reason why I did $60 calls instead of $62.50 calls.
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Target Corp. /quotes/zigman/253872/quotes/nls/tgt TGT -1.14% reported net profit of $637 million, or 96 cents a share, for the third quarter ended Oct. 27, up from $555 million, or 82 cents, earned in the same period a year ago. Quarterly revenue reached $16.93 billion, including sales of $16.6 billion, from the prior year's $16.4 billion. The latest quarter's profit included a gain of 15 cents a share from Target's pending sale of its credit-card receivables portfolio. The consensus of analyst estimates, as compiled by FactSet Research, had been for 78 cents a share and $16.6 billion, respectively. On an adjusted basis to reflect period-to-period comparisons for its U.S. operations, Target said earnings for the latest quarter would have been 90 cents a share, up from 86 cents a year earlier. Target also pegged fourth-quarter net profit at $1.45 to $1.55 a share, reflecting a projected drag of 19 cents for costs related to its entry into the Canadian market.

Thanks boss! Hopefully I wake up to good news tomorrow morning when they report!
Thanks boss! I definitely didnt think it would drop as far as it did. But im happy with a 400% profit. I had a reason for selling when I did so I can't fault myself for that. My account right now is in building mode, I can't afford to risk 400% profit hoping that it continues the trend downward esp with them being weekly puts!
TGT picked up $60 calls as lotto play into earnings after hours.
They've hit successfully in the last 4 earnings. And every 3Q has surpassed the last. Analysts expect .77eps. Last 3Q analysts expected .74, they posted .82.
Hoping for another beat.
And btw ill never laugh at you. We are all here to help each other. I know I don't post as much as some people but if I can help ill do my best!
Yeah I looked at them a few minutes ago. It's ok I had a reason I sold when I did. Saw what I thought was a support level. Sure I'd be up like 3500% but I still made 400% on the trade. Can't control some things and it could have easily bounced at 100$ and I could have lost all the profit. Unfortunately right now I'm at the point of trying to build my portfolio and can't risk riding on things. Something I learned awhile ago but still trying my best at I'd not look back at trades and think "What if I held". If you do that you will drive yourself insane. I'm happy with profits and remember the next play is always right around the corner!
I'm sorry for your loss but you'll make it back!!!
Haha AD sure loves it!
Thanks for the chart and the reasoning.
Normally my thinking goes with - check the daily chart, check the weekly chart. Find the resistance and support levels. Check the other indicators (MACD, RSI, MA's, Bollis, etc.) then I'll dive in deeper into the 30min and 10min charts if I'm going to go with a trade. As options are a short time investmet usually for me (i.e. a matter of a couple of days at max) then these charts absolutely help!
Thanks for giving your insight! And thanks, I have just never been a fan of RIMM.
Let me know how you make out! Hoping for a bounce for you!
Thanks!
I don't think it will get back to $105. However, if it can bounce at $100.00 I don't see why it couldn't get back to $103ish and you could sell on the run up!
$100.00 is usually a strong level of support on any stock. Even though it's dipped below, I'd fully expect it to come back up and finish over $100.00 today.
Good luck on your trade!
Oh and I bought RIMM puts yesterday. December $8.00 puts @.45. I was trading so much yesterday I just forget to post my trades.
Bought puts when I did yesterday because BIDU couldn't break $105. Everytime it got there got hammered right back down. Began to trend down (I'll attach chart below).
Sold when I did becasue on the weekly chart $100.80 was a level of support. I sold when the stock got to $101.00 as I was afraid of a bounce and to be caught with my shorts down.
Weekly options were way too risky for me not to lock a 400% profit. If there was any sort of bounce, it would have depleted very quickly. As it looks right now, you want the $100 level to hold.
Not sure if you saw my previous post. I bought BIDU puts yesterday and sold them this morning. If I held I would have made another 200% but such is life.
Good luck.
Hey AD,
I saw your private message but can't reply since I have a free account. Sorry for the delayed response but can't wait to see it bud!
Bought BIDU weekly $100 Puts @ .25
Sold BIDU weekly $100 puts @ .98
Well it's true. The stock was down 5% after hours once the earnings came out. Disney didn't gap down 6% because of a technical move. But you're welcome whether you agree with it or not, that's the way earnings plays work.
Good luck on your next trade!
The reason for the drop was based solely on earnings. AD already mentioned he doesn't like to play earnings plays. This wasn't a technical move.
Haha LB, do you have any pics from your get together? it would be cool to put faces to names!
DIS earnings after the bell. Any thoughts as to how that will go?
Thank you :) I think overall SBUX is a suberpb company and will go up very soon. Just short term I think it's due for a little pullback.
Haha oh man you really should start writing a book. You have a vast amount of knowledge and experiences. I am always intrigued by what you're going to say next... and I don't see that in many people.
I grabbed Nov 17 $50 puts @ .37/.38
Saw technically the situation was turning. It had topped out at the resistance around $52 as it tried to break it again right after they posted great earnings. (I had bought calls as a lotto play into earnings and made around 280% on them). (see chart) and was making a move downwards. Combine that with the overall sentiment of a bearish market.
Haha you sir have a lot of cajones! I don't know if I would be able to pick up rocks and start throwing them at bears lol. Although, I don't currently own a dog, actually never have, have always wanted one but can't get one where I'm currently residing. I probably would do the same thing if I felt my best friend was in danger!!
Haha job well done!!!
How the heck did you chase a bear out of your back yard??? I thought you were supposed to play dead agains tthose things! LOL
What kind of bear was it?
Yeah bears seem to be out in full force today.
Currently I picked up SBUX puts today. Doing ok so far. It broke the 200MA to the down side. Although there's not as much volume as I was thinking there would be.
Absolutely. I've always been a technical trader. Never can have enough tools in the belt!
That works great!
Apparently Bill Gates recently sold half a billion dollars in stock. $500,000,000
That's a lot of zeros lol

Thanks AD. That would be a great resource to have if someone had a website that did it. I know that I used to have one. I remember checking FB and Apple months ago but I forget what it was, doh!
Could you go into a little more depth? How can we find the information that insiders are buying? How accurate and up to date is that information?
