I sold most of mine and it was a big mistake.
Sold 90% of my silver when it hit $25 to $25.50/oz thinking that it would drop and I could rebuy more. Took off to $29+ after that so shows how good a price forcaster I am. Finally was able to rebuy yesterday and lost only a kilo from what I held at the time I sold. Lost about 10% of holding value. Expensive lesson. No more selling here. Just hold for at least 5 years, then reconsider.

Why are people selling PM with inflation worries?
I've always heard that people buy PM as a hedge against inflation. Now that the world is becoming increasingly worried about inflation they are also selling gold and silver. Is it that the old rules don't apply or is there something else going on?

BullionVault.com ran out of silver.
I was trying to buy silver today at 25.40 per ounce and noticed that the spread that bullionvault was charging was unusually high. Typically, they sell silver to us at about $0.40 above ask which is bearable. Today, for the first time, my orders wouldn't fill when they were place in usual fashion (0.4 above ask). I then noticed that they were charging $1.32 above ask for an ounce. Most of my funds were sitting in the account and it looked like we had hit bottom (time will tell) so I bit the bullet and paid their high price. I was pretty ticked off so I sent a steaming email to them saying that I felt they were taking advantage of us since they knew that today was probably the bottom and they jacked the cost of buying way up since they knew we would either pay or not buy and since there was no choice, we would buy. I received a reply explaining that they have run out of silver which is why they are charging the extra fee. My order was filled and he promised that my silver would be delivered as promised; it's just that they have run out and it is requiring extra work to locate the needed supply. Good news, I guess. Running out of silver. Wonder how many others are in that boat?

Any tricks to predicting which way silver price will go?
I'm new to this--got in 4-5 months ago and became bored watching my gains evaporate so sold most when it hit $25 thinking price would retreat. Wrong guess there. Ended up rebuying my core position (30%) at around $28 (should not have sold that in the first place but still learning). Price now needs to fall to around $23/oz just to recoup my initial investment in ounces. I am now expecting a fall to around $25. The question is, do I rebuy at 25 and eat my loss or hold off and hope for a further fall? I have been trying to predict price moves by watching world events (price of dollar and political events such as QE2 and Obama's hints on future directions of monitary spending by the US) but these don't seem to be very reliable--price goes up when everything tells me it should go down or visa versa. Any reliable way to predict price moves for silver?

I just found this board and hope to learn more about silver as an investment. I believe silver had a major correction during the 1970's run where it fell from $23/oz to $10/oz. Anyone feel that a correction of that magnitude is in the cards or are things drastically different now?
