Hi,
Anyone see the new TV in the SHM?
Wood sees a huge opportunity for Roku in providing a platform – and content – to TV manufacturers,
to me is so clear...
he Roku chief concedes that the market in which he operates is getting increasingly competitive – but he sees that as a positive sign. “The big picture is that TV is moving to the Internet,” he says in an interview. “All TV eventually is going to over the Internet.” Today, he notes, most of that comes through gaming consoles. But he says the picture is shifting away from consoles and toward streaming players and smart TVs, which is where Roku is focusing its business. Wood sees a huge opportunity for Roku in providing a platform – and content – to TV manufacturers, particularly the value-focused Chinese companies that are nibbling away market share from their Japanese competitors. In particular, he contends their solution is cheaper than the rival solution offered by Google TV, which this week is announcing a variety of new partners of its own. (And he also points out that Google TV lacks some content that Roku has, in particular Hulu Plus.)
Wood says that about 30% of Roku users to do not use a pay TV service, although the other 70% – and he says the balance has been pretty consistent as the company has grown. Of the 30% without cable service, about 10% came to Roku without previously having cable service. The other 20% drop cable after buying their Roku box.
Despite those 700 channels, the Roku slate of offerings has a few hole, Wood admits. In particular, a lack of in-market sports. They also have no deals announced with ESPN, although Wood notes that Xbox has a deal for authenticated ESPN service (meaning you can watch ESPN via Xbox if you have the right pay TV service.) He contends that anything Xbox gets, Roku will get eventually. But he adds that he doesn’t think ESPN is going to unbundle and offer the service on a stand-alone basis any time soon.
Wood notes that Roku could be a good partner for a virtual cable service – which is what Intel is rumored to be planing. Wood says he is aware of at least three companies that are trying to build virtual cable systems. He says the odds of one of them coming to market this year is about 50/50 off. But he adds that if Intel can accomplish the feat, others are likely to follow.

Wyatt, this is what i found... about tidelands!
In September 2007, we entered into an equity purchase agreement with Tidelands Oil & Gas Corporation and acquired an 80% interest in Frontera Pipeline, LLC (“Frontera”), an entity which owns 100% of Sonora Pipeline, LLC and Terranova Energia. In October 2008, we acquired the remaining 20% interest in Frontera from Tidelands. Frontera, through Sonora and Terranova, is developing the Burgos Hub Project, which is a proposed integrated pipeline project traversing the United States and Mexico border, and the potential construction of a related underground natural gas storage facility in Mexico. The aggregate cost to construct the project is currently estimated to be approximately $700 million to $800 million, before financing costs. Our cost estimate is subject to change due to such items as cost overruns, change orders, delays in construction, increased component and material costs, escalation of labor costs and increased spending to maintain our construction schedule. We will contemplate making a final investment decision in the Burgos Hub Project upon, among other things, receiving all required authorizations to construct and operate the pipeline and storage facility, arranging appropriate financing and entering into acceptable commercial arrangements for the pipeline and storage facility.

HiLoad LNG (Planned) -- offshore Tamaulipas, Mexico; Peak sendout 1.4 Bcf/d; San Antonio-based Tidelands Oil & Gas Corp. The project would be capable of delivering 500 MMBtu/d to Mexico; 450 MMBtu/d to proposed storage in Mexico's Burgos Basin and 500 MMBtu/d to U.S. markets. Tidelands has signed an agreement with Remora Technology to use Remora's HiLoad LNG Regasification Terminal design, which has been funded in part by ConocoPhillips. The design is for a floating terminal that attaches to an LNG tanker and directly vaporizes the LNG as it is offloaded, eliminating the need for above ground storage tanks. The terminal will inject gas directly into offshore pipelines at rates between 250 MMcf/d and 1.4 Bcf/d.

GREAT NEWS
Singida gold bearing rock could be more extensive than earlier thought
By The guardian reporter
12th February 2010EmailPrintComments
The gold-bearing rock in Singida Region could be more extensive than previously thought, according to a press statement released by the Lake Victoria Mining Company yesterday.
As previously announced, the statement reads, both electrical and magnetic surveying is continuing over the Singida gold bearing vein system, and recent field reports indicate that new northwest-southeast trending and depth extensions to the veins may have been identified.
If this interpretation is confirmed by more detailed data analysis, then additional drill targets will be selected to test for gold in these geological extensions to the previously defined veins, the company says.
Lake Victoria Mining Company also says on February 8, 2010 the Company sold 750,000 shares of common stock to Heidi Kalenuik, an officer and director in the Company, in consideration of USD150,000 and granted Heidi Kalenuik the right to acquire an additional 750,000 shares of common stock at an exercise price of USD1.25 per share.
The company adds that on February 8th it executed Addendums to the eleven original agreements with 38 property owners for all 37 PMLs (primary mining licenses) in the Singida Gold Project area, and that this was accomplished through the company's wholly owned subsidiary in Tanzania.
These addendum agreements allow the company to proceed with additional exploration in the area, which includes drilling and the establishment of a pilot processing plant. In addition, the remaining payment schedule has been extended to allow additional time for drilling, assaying and metallurgical test work.
Lake Victoria Mining Company, Inc. is working to create another gold mine in the world famous Lake Victoria Greenstone Belt, in northern Tanzania, East Africa.
