OT; It is the dream of many San Diego parents to have their children enroll at UCSB. The train rides up the coast, the weekends at the beach when you bring and pick ups students, and the central coast wines makes UCSB the perfect place to dump the kids. Congrat on your son enrolment at a UC school.
Put some MSFT away in my Roth for the long term yesterday.
Time is the most important variable.
Most of the retirement money I have now is a product of small IRA contributions made from 1983-85.
CFC leading us higher?
Nice to have strong leadership. LOL
If economists say we are going to have a recession, it must be theoritcally true? LOL
When the Bears start referancing the economists, a bottom must be near.
Helps T too. As the price of iphone drops, T will get more customers from their exclusive deal.
STX; buying more here.
I would put one in my car

Really.....you mean the earth has warmed before....were did the get the SUVs.....LOL
OT; How smart were the early explorers to have named Greenland in anticipation of our SUVs melting the polar ice caps?
buying MRX,KG,STX
MOGN is up $6.60
MOGN has offer for $41.

Just so we are clear.....
A 6% inflation rate means prices are twices as expensive as 12 years ago (1995). A 6% inflation rate means goods an services will double every 12 years.
What do you believe is the inflation rate?
I will use 3% until you provide a better number.
If milk is too expensive.....drink beer. In economics this is a switch to a substitute to avoid price increases.
The cost of buying a house is coming down not going up.
Cheap foreign labor and imported goods are driving prices down.
Gasoline cost $1.40 in 1980 and cost $3.00 now, which is a compounded 3% inflation rate.
Long term bond rates include an expected inflation rate as well as a required rate of return.
Bonds have the inflation rate at 3% right now.
Inflation is running at 3% it is not rampant, scary, depression like, crisis producing or any other extremist term.
There is no Rampant Inflation right now.
Bond yields will rise dramatically with rampant inflation.
The Fed controls short rates but the bond market controls long rates.
Oil prices are inflationary but workers pay (China, India, ETC.) is deflationary.
Sitting here waiting for TV prices to come down as I invest globally.
OT; I am a fiscally conservative, strong dollar, strong border Democrat.....nobody represents me.
Anybody surprised the Fed cut rates the year before an election?
2007 2 cuts
2003 1 cut
1999 0 cuts
1995 2 cuts
1991 10 cuts
http://www.federalreserve.gov/fomc/fundsrate.htm
Since 1970, the S&P 500 has risen by an average of 5.5% in the three months after the Fed’s first rate cut. Only twice in the nine instances (22% of the time) since 1970 did stocks lose ground, including an 18% fall after the first cut in 2001. The average gain after the nine cuts since 1970 over the next six months was 12.3% (Source: Barron’s). If we use these nine rate reduction cycles, the odds of a successful outcome over the next three months is roughly 88%.

Fed will cut in Dec if consumer sales are slow in Nov, IMO.
I hate these big down days....
MOGN is down $0.08
It is working....My foreign funds are up 40-70% this year.
The Recession will hit later than you think.
Pssssssst the Fed is not done. The Dollar will continue to decline. Wake up! Buy foreign stocks.
Does anybody not believe oil will hit $100?
Does anyone believe the Fed and White House will defend the Dollar during an election year? Two rate cuts says NO!
For an investor, it does not matter what the Fed should do, it only matters what the Fed will do. The trend is your friend....the Fed will drop rates again, IMO.
Incumbents benefit....Rate increases, a recession and higher unemployment comes after the election. The Fed wants to pretend it is above politics so it drops rates months before the election and stays neutral the last few months before the election. It does not matter which party is in the White House
The Fed's rate cutting is about next year elections.
They will cut rates late this year and early next year to avoid any hint of a recession prior to the 08 elections.
They will not adjust rates in the second half of an election year. The dollar will likely decline for another year, IMO.
Buy foreign stocks.
I have been using funds in my 403b.
FLATX, FSEAX, FEMKX, DFEMX
There is no need to know foreign stocks with fund investing.
Rate cuts are not about todays numbers.
They are made for what is expected 6-9 months from now.
One good way is to buy stock in good companies and wait until the shorts cover. Thats how I got my house at the beach and a retirement at 55.
MOGN continues it run today with a new 52 week high,
up 70% for the year.
Here come another rate cut.....
Market off it's high make a rate cut likely, IMO.
How PO will the bears be when they cut rates?
Rich...so you got emerging market foreign funds too.
These funds love that falling dollar.
A good 10-20% down year will come after the elections.
The Fed will cut to push the economy away from a decline going in the elections in 08, IMO.
MOGN: Here come the brokers....ML yesterday and Morgan today.
MGI shares have climbed 67 percent this year, and reached a three-year high of $31.06 Tuesday before closing at $30.74.
Meacham upgraded the stock to "Overweight" from "Neutral." He thinks sales of MGI's nausea drug Aloxi and bone marrow disease treatment Dacogen will improve over the next few years, and expects the company's sedative Aquavan will be popular due to its effectiveness.
We are celebrating not being Bearish for the last year.
Sorry you can't drink with us and your glass is empty.
MOGN...will the shorts be able to cover before clinical trial results or fda approval hit the wire?
So the WS crowd is telling him not to cut....Get with it!
I am sorry...I thought they just cut half a point.
Fed watches the US economy not the stock market to determine rate cuts....there will be another cut this year, IMO.
