Could a giant like Industrias Peñoles keep something of this magnitude a secret? Who else could it be? -- Sounds like there's be too many people involved for this to work.

...easy dude, it's the other way around. <vbg>
Jim... Sinclair does a good job in introducing T/A in regards to gold mining shares. I gotta tellya, I'm not much of a technical guy but people like Jim Sinclair have certainly raised my awareness.
Here's a great T/A book and should be read by all newbies:

Hi Jim, about IHub... my biggest reason for migrating here from SI is fairness. Hypothetically, if you and I were to go to war, we'd be both put in jail-- as oppose to one of us taking on the chin.
The site works faster, the find function just rocks, you can read a bookmarked persons posts in a list view--which is fabulous-- absolutely freakin' fabulous, you can post charts, the site refreshes automatically and the management is motivated in the continued development of the site.
So yeah... keep in touch, if anything, sign up for a lifetime membership - I believe there is less than two hundred left.
BTW, I'm not affiliated-- just a satisfied customer.

Michael

Jim... if you want to post a chart, just have to delete the "http://" and replace it with a [ chart ] (without spaces) and end the link with a [ /chart ]

Michael
Matt, that didn't work, but clearing the history did.
Thanks.
Matt... silly browser question; I'm using XP/IE6-- when I'm reading a post then click forwards to the next, the hyperlink to the previous post remains in an unread state. It's like this for all the internet, my browser just doesn't show any of the links as read.
Any thoughts?

Actually, that's how I found out about this site, you emailed me... :)
-- I'm sure from their perspective they see IHub as a direct competitor-- IHub could of chose a different look, maybe you guys could of made IHub look more like RB, Yahoo or even Stockhouse? But noooo, you chose the SI look! IMHO, they're not flattered by the imitation and did I mention Zeev?
could someone please post to Jeff and ask him what's up?
...and get myself banned too? Guilt be association...
Oh, they're probably stunned by the TXU news that the dividend is and wasn't safe afterall.
I'm actually surprised they didn't cut your access right after Zeev moved here. If anything they're s-l-o-w...
...actually I'm going to share something that might be worthless, but... I've never been able to get the scan engine to work either (using XP/IE6)-- not a big deal, because I'm using something that's included with my etrade account.
I just tried again for the hell of it, but this time using Mozilla within my Linux partition. Works like a charm...
I'll be darned.

Alcoa fortunes bound up with Chinese riddle
By Caroline Daniel
The glum title of an analyst's note on Alcoa summed up the problems facing the world's largest aluminium producer: "Double Whammy For Double A - Poor Demand And Weak Aluminum Pricing Hampers Earnings Power."

Bob, I think I lot of folks out there equate the term "investment" with "buy and hold." As for myself, I'm purely a speculator-- you'd have to be in the oil and gas sector, so I don't think metals and mining are all that different.
As long as the trend remains in place, I normally maintain some core holdings ... everything else I swing trade.
Regards,
Michael
geez Bob, that was a great story (read it all the way to the end) I'm surprised you didn't get any replies. Not one?
Uh...
Actually I just posted there a couple of minutes ago ... I think Doug "gotmilk" was saying he was warned not to promote IHub on SI threads.
Maybe you guys are now finally considered competition and banned for it.
Congrats...

Jim... well said! FWIW, the lowering of interest rates in regards to retirees also disturbs me. It seems we're robbing the elderly to subsidize the youth and their manic consumption. Now having said that, another interesting article from Adam Hamilton chastising the “Fed” for being unconstitutional.

Tim... about BBD.B -- from the top of my head I'd say it's a non-event. The whole hoopla over Bombardier's billion-dollar claim against DaimlerChrysler is that they overpaid for a business with very tight margins. Their high margin business is aircraft; it's about 60% of what they do. Transportation (rails) has little or no margins and is approximately 30% of they do. The last 10% is the money losing ski/seadoo business that is more or less kept because of tradition.

Bob... what do you think about palladium as an investment? I've been checking out North American Palladium, and like you were saying, from the beginning of last September was big for base metal miners in general.
FWIW, I've always seen Pd to Pt, as Ag is to Au. Meaning big nickel players like Norilsk #msg-530456 and Inco have a substantial by-product production of palladium. Considering the implications of the Norilsk/GM deal in light of the bearishness towards to auto sector, wouldn't this cap any of the upside in the spot market?
-
PR-Tagline:
North American Palladium's Lac des Iles Mine is Canada's only primary producer of platinum group metals and is one of the largest open pit bulk mineable palladium reserves in the world. Palladium use in the auto industry continues to be an important component in controlling exhaust emissions as mandated by more stringent hydrocarbon emissions standards for cars, particularly in the United States, Europe and Japan.
-
I always questioned the sustained profitability of North-American Palladium since it is primary producer. Reading through their pr I noticed the mining operation recovery rate is around 70%-- they've had problems with the crusher and the repairs should be completed by next month. They've also implemented a pilot program to raise the recovery rates.
I can see some upside here, the perception of a booming economy, improved recovery rates, and a totally oversold stock that trades just a little over book value-- might give us another nice run.

Candente over stakes same areas as Barrick in Peru
DNT:TSX-V
VANCOUVER, Oct. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Candente Resource Corp. ("Candente") (DNT: TSX Venture:) is pleased to announce that the Company has been advised by the Peruvian government that Barrick Gold ("Barrick") and Candente have over staked on four claim block applications in Peru covering 3200 hectares (7900 acres). Candente has the option of reaching an agreement with Barrick or competing against Barrick in auctions on October 22nd and 23rd to determine title to these areas.
In three of the locations, Barrick and Candente were the only parties to apply for the ground as soon as it came open; in the fourth area an individual also filed an application the same day.
The auction situation only arises in Peru when an area has come open due to an older concession lapsing. In this case, the government publishes the date that the area is available for staking in the local newspaper and all parties staking on the first half of the specified day are considered equal. The equal parties have the option of reaching an agreement or competing in an open forum auction held by the government.
All four of the claims were staked to cover high sulphidation gold targets. Two of the overlapped claims are contiguous with the Alto Dorado property recently optioned from Hecla Mining and described below. The other two claims are in the South of Peru in the Department of Puno where Anglo Gold has also made a new high sulphidation gold discovery. The southern two claims are at the centre of a large claim block held by Buenaventura, co-owners of the Yanacocha Mine.
The Alto Dorado property hosts both high sulphidation and porphyry gold targets similar to those found at the Pierina and Yanacocha high sulfidation mines in Peru. The property is located half-way between the Yanacocha and Pierina deposits, 36 km south-southeast of the Alto Chicama property, where Barrick Gold recently announced a new discovery of in excess of 7 million ounces of gold. High sulfidation targets have been identified both on surface and in drill holes and comprise typical vuggy silica with gold grades from 0.5 to 3.6 grams per tonne (gpt). The main alteration zone recognizable in satellite photographs covers 7 x 2.5 Km. Anomalous levels of gold in soils occur over an area 8 x 2 Km and range from 40 to 979 ppb with several samples in the 500 ppb (0.5 gpt) range.
The above-mentioned developments help to confirm Candente's decision to pursue the recently signed agreement with Hecla Mining Company on the Alto Dorado property and other acquisitions in Peru.
Candente is a junior exploration company focused on the acquisition, exploration and development of world-class gold and copper projects in Peru and Eastern Canada. Management has a track record of gold discoveries, extensive experience in Peru and internationally. Candente's common shares are traded on the TSX Venture Exchange under the trading symbol DNT.
On another matter, Candente's management would like to invite you to come and meet Joanne C. Freeze, President & CEO and other Company personnel at the following conferences: Chicago Natural Resource and Technology Exhibition and Conference, Oct. 26 in Chicago, IL; CIM Conference Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 in St John's, Newfoundland; New Orleans Investment Conference, Nov. 7-10 in New Orleans, LA; and International Investment Conference, Dec.1/2 in San Francisco, CA

Gee Marcos... I wish you wouldn't of done that... I'm trying to create a little traffic on this thread because it's dead and then you go and start another?
DUDE!!!!!
Anyway... I've played Noranda on and off, it's good for a bucker here and there and it's got a nice dividend yield. I did notice Aur Resources the other day because some scanning software that I use threw it on my buy list.
Metallica, too.
About the copper recovery, don't you have to buy the stock first in anticipation of the move in the commodity itself?

Tempting? Yeah, it does... just take a small position "average in" and stop yourself out if it drops by more than say, 15%? Personally I've been riding a little on the wild side by accumulation silver stocks... charts for stocks like PAAS are just plain fugly.
...but the pay-off could be huge.

Hi Bernard... I've got Northgate Exploration on my watchlist-- played it before, sleepy trader... probably due to the copper content of the feed stock. I like the company, clean set of books and no hedging.
...just sleepy.

NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Futures prices for copper and aluminum soared early Friday as a second straight day of strength in the U.S. stock market boosted the likelihood of a rise in demand for industrial metals.

Silver stocks are not moving, cheap, cheap, cheap... Pan American down another couple of percentage points-- is there any end to this sell off?

Jim... I usually keep an eye on the charts so I can keep a little perspective. Being a contrarian by nature I have a tendency of being a little early-- which causes me grief at times when the trade goes the wrong way.
Why am I not selling this morning?
