Geoi settling down a bit after run up. But can this push higher with oil prices scooting higher. Methinks yes, maybe all the way to $ 10.00 share. Now at #6.375 / share.
FT today:
Governance costs lead 20% of public companies to consider going private. New demands from investors regarding boardroom behavior, increased insurance premiums, and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act on governance have significantly increased costs for companies whose shares are traded publically in the US
Sprint, FON has been having a nice run this week. I bought at 14.5 and sold yesterday. But still going.
Poor Martha Stewart... Looks like corporate policing will extend its arm to Martha Stewart. I guess insider trading and coverup is really an ethical lapse in good housekeeping.
President Bush has committed us to preemptive war. At the moment I feel, as a British Historian did last night on TV, as if the nation is now jumping out of an airplane and we are all waiting for the parachute to open. Lets hope it does.
"This is terra incognito" said Simon Schama the historian. He is afraid that there will be extreme religious fervor excited in mideast Moslems against all things western. But the die is now cast.
I think we are actually on the brink of two wars, which we have bearly considered. One against Iraq and the other N. Korea. N. Korea has locked unto our airplanes. Fire missles towards Japan and done other hostile acts just this month. It is said they probably have at least one or two nuclear weapons and means to reach our western states with one new one being produced every month. Bush may think that it is ok to loose california since they don't support the GOP anyway. But N. Korea is a serious foe.
Due to our preemptive stragegy for the first time in our history we may condemn an ally, totally without its consent, the S. Koreans, to at least a million dead.
Simon Schama expects the the Iranians religous authorities to possibly use this opportunity to inflame all of Iran due to our close proximity to Iran. It is not a stretch to also see this opening up the possibility of yet a third war with Iran..as Bush has included them on the axis of evil. Some in our military say that Iran is next.
In these mad times, lets hope that God be with us.
Strange...I had read (recent New Yorker article) that Pakistan's nuclear experts were busy in recent times traveling back and forth to North Korea and passing on its nuclear technology in exchange for North Korea's missle technology. Hence, the gist of this story, Pakistan is itself a agent of nuclear proliferation spread of WMD that need this administration's urgent attention and not its praise for being a enemy of terrorism.
Stranger things have happened. A possible model to bring peace to Isreal/Palestine conflict is the S. African one. It could begin by a process of truth telling (each side acknowledges its "sins" against the other) The next step would be followed, hopefully, by reconciliation. This assumes that the each side concludes this: That to continue to do the same thing again and again is folly to the nth degree.
If such wisdom could take root in the two peoples, then perhaps a single state solution is the route to peace? Arab population increase may frighten the Isreali electoate but perhaps some Lani Guirier method of weighed voting arrangement - multiple vote arrangement, where votes for representatives could be multiple so that the minority could lump its votes together to insure that the "minority" always has significant representation, could dampen fear of the majority rule. I believe that the whites in S. African reached such agreements with the other side to do this, before they releniquished its Apartiheid reins, where the whites were 1/10th the black population. This agreement in S. Africa still holds.
Another point, the current leadership need to change. Bush is right. Arafat and, IMHO, possibly Sharon need to go. We are talking about two different peoples who happen to inhabit much the same "pied de terre". This makes the two state solution to be very problematic. Hence, the 2 state solution is probably dead...Current election results in Isreal seem to confirm this view. Maybe it is time to move beyond the 2 state solution, and begin steps toward reconcilation, a la the South African experiment.
AGM has gapped up to about 36.5 dollars.
Can't they just use the yahoo lanugage translater, copy and paste? Bingo instant translation? Google has simlar feature, no?
Out ASYT at 8.03 from 7.27.
Re: BRKS also Deutsche Securities downgraded it to Sell from Hold yesterday.
Re ASYT: Seems the news of order for 300 mm smif handling technology is moving the stock. There is some speculation - - chatter, on yahoo, that the BRKS/PRIA merger is not working as well for BRKS as the is the recent ASYT/Japanese company association has been for ASYT.
That is all.
Just reports that ASYT shares are under accumulation, OBV looks good. Could be reacting to cancellation of BRKS conference call, due to the lack of senior executives being available which was later rescheduled - should be no big deal.
Also news of contracts for evalution for 300 mm wafer carriers for ASYT on Nov21st.
ASYT is really moving today and yesterday. Seems to be taking what market share there is in foundry automation from BRKS, which is down today. In at 7.27 up to 7.70.
Understand that Walter Mondale and the GOP candidate during today's debate made no glaring pratfalls.
Each was able to present his case well to the public. Although Mondale seem to garner more applause.
Sprint "FON" is moving today.. Down because of telcom woes, but rising in this market. This part of Sprint serves some 8 million households with telephone landline services in the midwest.
Up $ 1.00 from $ 10.75. Comments?
Head of SEC, Harvey Pitt, asked for raise and promotion of SEC to cabinet status. Is this guy serious?
AGM is swimming upstream, up over $1.41 at 1:00 pm (EST)
MERQ with good earnings. Announced yesterday. Up 50% over corresponding quarter.

Zeev,
I have been playing FON interday with some good swings. Swings between 12.6 to 11.85 recently. Any comments?
Hello,
New to the board. But been following Zed for a while and learned a lot. Many thanks are due to all of you, especially Zed. Notice that POOL has dipped down to 26.9.... Could this merit a buy at this point?
Market is probably be waiting to listen to the President's proposals regarding corporate misdeeds and corrective regulations.
His address is a hour away, I think.
