How much more horizontal can we have.
It is clear form last 9 months if we want S&P 1400 you will have $140 oil.
If you want $35 oil, you will have S&P 500-600.
RE C
Citigroup can say with straight face they not lost any brokerage accounts due to their problems.
We transferred all our accounts out of there in April.
On last day in Apr they transferred our accounts in full less the transfer and closing fees that they said they wouldn't be charged.
On May 1st, they issued reverse termination fees back into the exact empty accounts and thus preserving their word to not charge fees and preserve all accounts as not closed.
My wife asked wuld they charge money to withdrawal this money. I said ask Obama
I got some GM bonds because I respected my fatherinlaw who worked the line for 41 years.
When those thick packets of material changes in investment disclosure documents to vote on accepting changes came from brokerage firm it usually means your investment is worth squat.
Do they serious think I was going to have the time or desire to vote to accept pennies on the dollar for my bonds
GM bankruptcy was foregone conclusion months ago.
Decline stenched. It looks like buyers stepping in.
Imagine the stock rally when job losses slow down to 400K and Obama dollars seek higher returns. This is not a value judgement politically or economically just an honest assessment.
I have friend who is 49 years old who was a passenger in his brother's car and sustained serious head injuries in a DUI accident when he was 17 who is on full disability now because he is very forgetful. He can't be trusted to watch his little children for extended periods of time. It is extremely hard on his wife.
The worst part is his 5 brothers don't really give a shit about his condition especially the one behind the wheel.
Thank your lucky stars you can chart stocks one handed and blindfolded so to speak.

OT James is just auditioning for NY Knicks contract.
He doesn't play a spit of defense and is just showtime which is what Cablevision management wants since RED Holzman left in early 90's.
Market needs to create the perception that if your not in now your going to missing opportunity of a return higher than government securities where they are at now.

I got one for his supercomputing firm
I got no problem with payments for charity.
Zeev liked sub $5 stocks to trade but was no where I mean no where near pink sheet stuff.
I can remember my experience with pink sheet stocks
I had a customer who ran a small minority owned trucking company that delivered medical radioisotopes to hospitals and got conned by pink sheet stock promoter in late 90's.
http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=ADMI.PK
They played on his sense of charity by pumping a chronically unprofitable medical testing company out of Queens NY. They claimed they offered specialized medical diagnostic and treatment services for black children stricken by the epidemic of asthma. They claimed to have a contact with a Blue Cross organization for these treatment services.
They when as far as putting him on board of directors and offering private stock offerings to him and members of his church outside Philadelphia.
He asked me since he knew I invested in stocks if I want to participate. Within minutes of finding out one of fellow board members was a pizza distributor from Long Island I knew where this was headed. I told him basically he was part of a con and his investment by him church members of $50,000 was suspect. His response was to shy away from me since he felt I exposed his lack of investing knowledge.
OT NBA
I met a friend who works at the NBA office in New York on Sunday, where else, at a sporting goods store where we were shopping for our kids.
He does not share your views. They want the Kobe / James showdown. Popularity been getting worse for several years. The friend really wants it to happens since his job in publicity is not safe in this economy.
OT Cleveland didn't seem to want to play tight defense last game.
James didn't guard anyone the entire night. He played near top of key regardless where Magic players were on perimeter. His primary intention seems to be to react to ball movement to try to initiate a steal or disrupt offensive set.
He had 2 steals and Orlando shot 35% behind the arc and 42% inside and D Howard shot 73% form the line.
If/when I'm cleared
He doesn't seem 100% positive on being cleared as if he may be considering accepting a plea deal to make it go away.
Economy is getting scary slow
I was visiting some local businesses this morning to hand out flyers for a Crutch Donation Drive at our church benefitting an Army Special Forces Medical Unit that made a request for 500 pairs of crutches to our Knights of Columbus Council before they ship out from Fort Bragg to Southern Afghanistan in July.
I stopped at my local lawn mower repair shop to ask them to post the flyer and there was two store employees and zero customers at 10 AM. Grass is growing 1-2" a week now and no one is at the lawn mower shop on SAT. More people are just letting it grow longer and mowing less often.
Now back to my shameless pitch for donated crutches since it's official that IHUB is a website to tout things.
If people on the thread live in Central NJ and they have an used set of crutches they can call their local volunteer rescue squads to see if they accept crutches because our council is going to be calling them in next two weeks asking for any excess crutches they may have. I am also working on getting most Catholic Churches in my diocese to run a crutch donation drive drive on June 7.
All during the last few elections, big business would deflect and downplay as "class warfare" every time labor and unions proposed some thing that benefitted the little guy at the expense of the rich.
Guys like Jack welsh Steve Forbes, Kudlow et al really starting to whine now since Executive and Legislative branches starting to geting in lockstep on enacting programs that foster income redistribution.

Is Matthew W. Brown our matt the sysop.
He looked like he was a pretty straight shooter
I would have to believe he's just roped into the indictment so he doesn't decide to have unexpected outage that just happened to wipe ot all his servers data.
He must be cooperating since law enforcement hasn't seized the servers as evidence leaving us out in the dark.
I would not be too worried as long as the power plug is still connected for web3 and the internet bill is paid everything will work without much intervention.
I am sure the sysop doesn't want to see his pride and joy go down without a fight.

I would expect that if contractor had 1 work crew and 2 customers one with the appearance of having money and one from someone with the appearance of more modest means, he would pick the former rather then the latter assuming quick payment would be likely.
Have you ever sat in a dental office and listen to patient after patient asking to time payments for work done.
I really wonder what GDP reports will look like when adjusted for the self employed when they report schedule C's early next year.
Apr 15th tax payments were disappointing to say the least.
Next estimated taxes due date is June 15th and the government report on taxes paid will be telling.
If you halve the size of the glass it's no longer half full
Either way one is still left thirsty
I had some discussions with two small businesses yesterday
The first company was a collection agency which said they never seen things so bad in 30 years in business. They are swamped with tons of new bad debts to collect. However, quality of debts to collect is very poor.
By and large the debtors tell them your $2-5K indebtedness is small change to the larger problems they faced with their own receivables.
The second company was a fairly low tech global employment agency that has handful of NDX 100 hi tech and biotech clients. They were pretty very happy that 2-3 of them started to hire after a period of inactivity. I got the feeling their
mindset is some business is better then no business.
I long as you can say the glass is still half full, market doesn't decline.
Some analyst on Bloomberg radio commented yesterday that mutual funds managers would face "performance anxiety" if market started to showed a year to date return that exceeded bonds.
If market get to 200 MA at 942, there could be tendency for mutual funds to play catch up.
Pennsylvania especially along Rt 78 corridor in Eastern PA was always a booming area for New Jersey people who couldn't afford high real estate prices here. When I visit PA it seems every empty field from North Philly to Allentown was sprouting houses.
You think bank financing will free up enough to refinance the large amounts of debt coming due.
HD got a store in downtown Newark NJ on a site that hadn't been built upon since the previous buildings were burned down in 67 riots. It is like your Philly location with store being mobbed with rehabbers during the housing boom years
http://www.67riots.rutgers.edu/n_index.htm
I will have to visit this week if rehabbers have alighted on another of another of US's proverbial armpits being freshened up by $8,000 1st time buyer tax credits.
Nothing against Philly.
When GPS was increasing increasing the bottom line while the top line kept falling over the last 5 years by cutting expenses and shying away from reinvigorating their retail concept in any way, Wall street would punish them for short sighted slashing of inventory and expenses.
Now when everyone is doing the same by cutting the expenses, they talk of recovery, greenshoots or turn in the economy.
What hogwash.
OT The world must be coming to an end or at least Satan is gaining the upper hand.

Gizmo posted a chart showing all the balloon and adjustable rate mortgages coming due and the bulk of them are coming due by 2011.
http://www.calculatedriskblog.com/2007/10/imf-mortgage-reset-chart.html
Post 2011, the chart looked like it dropped off the table. Bank prospects are going to look very dim when the 70% of people underwater or with not enough income to qualify for refinancing are going to be begging for their personal government set asides or face the prospects of walking away and living on the streets.

I am switching over to all LED lights for Christmas decorations courtesy of Drug Fair bankruptcy. I was up to using 3rd 15 amp circuit for outside lights.
RE CREE
It is approaching 52 W high. any thoughts
It is starting to look like slow but steady summertime rally in tech stocks.
They seem to be bringing LED lighting application to the real world. They always been getting set aside money for many years now which may kick into overdrive with Obama administration
It is New Jersey. The 18 pages are just Monmouth and Essex Counties out 21 in the state.
Essex contains Newark area which is where predatory lending thrived but Monmouth is just middle class people getting over their heads.
My wife commented how empty the bus was today when our daughter got on this morning. The flu paranoia is just getting revved up. Wars and pandemics are great for stock markets
Foreclosure / want ads ratio
In recessionary times, I calculate the ratio of pages of foreclosure listings to wants ad. Today it was 18 pages to 0.3 or a ratio of 60. In 2002, I can remember peak values of 8-10 since want ads didn't drop much below 1 page.
Today's paper was 68 pages long and had 18 pages of foreclosure ads.
You are correct as always.
The Rutgers coach Greg Schiano was defensive coordinator at Miami and did not want any part of being head coach there several years ago when it looks like he was heir apparent.
As a Jersey boy, he walked into Rutgers job and has gotten his way with program improvements. The football stadium expansion cost has gotten way out of control with the fiscal crisis to the point that ex GS CEO now governor Jon Corzine can't construct a plan to pay for it.
Quite odd year CA had 3 picks in 1st round and FL zero. Amazing since FL produces hundreds of NCAA division 1 players.

It is hard to judge NFL rookies. They are just basically young men with impressive athletic talents. It is extremely hard to judge work ethic desire and heart. Herschel Walker was most heralded pick out of Wisconsin from South Jersey but never lived up to his billing with Giants.
In NJ, you have a multitude of athletic training centers to work out in year round starting as early as freshman year of high school that makes the pool of NFL ready type players seem so common. There are so many children of Giant and Jet players that are outstanding players in high school level due to their weight room and skill training but burn out as they get to stronger competition. The Simms kids come to mind.
It doesn't hurt that you have have football first academics second Catholic High Schools like Don Bosco and Bergen Catholic where they allocate 70-80% of fiscal resources to athletic facilities.
What the market needs is a few more flu pandemics to be announced to get to S&P 900.
The remaining 3 NJ picks are:
Eugene Monroe of Plainfield
Malcolm Jenkins of Piscataway
Donald Brown of Middletown.
http://www.nj.com/sports/index.ssf/2009/04/garden_state_reaps_seven_first.html
Who would have thunk that 7 players from Jersey were chosen in 1st round.
Kenny Britt from Rutgers and Bayonne, NJ was the last Jersey player chosen in the first round. The hoopla from this selection seems to crashed the Rutgers Athletics web site.
www.scarletknights.com
It took only 140 years of playing college football for that schools first 1st round draft choice. I don't think Paul Robeson got any signing money or had an agent playing for the Akron Pros in 1921.
RE QCOM
I noticed that they delayed earnings until Monday pending setttlement with BRCM.
I has the feel of RIMM as they ended their patent problems and stock took off.
