kron,
I like XMSR...looking for a pull back in a few weeks to 7.00, then another high, in the upper 12's.
Fundementally they will beat Sirruis. More auto manuf., boom box, and home kits for Delphi receiver. I have 2 subscriptions myself.
However, the new debt deal with GM and other bond holders done in Jan. will allow debt holders to convert to stock on a 3.5ish basis. If all the options are converted, then the float will double. That is a lot of dilution over the next few years!
Ride it, it is fun.

XMSR - Did not expect this.
Gap is at 7.00 not 7.50.
After the gap up, and a couple of more up days, I looked for the typical drift to fill the gap. At lease typical of this stock. Now it is a rocket!
caddman
XMSR - I guess no chance in filling gap at 7.50 now. Or at least no soon enough not to get called out.
Made good money...just wanting to play more OTM calls.
caddman - loves his second XM Receiver
OT - about stupid people and gasoline.
Last summer while driving a guy in front of us was carry a cut of plastic barrel in the back of his pickup truck. Probably close to 30 gallons.
I was smelling gas so strong, I though it was my car. As I get closer I see this liquid sloshing around the barrel with no lid.
When we got into town at a stoplight, I pulled next to him and said he was sloshing gas around the bed of his truck! An that I hope NOBODY DISCARDS A CIGARETTE out a window!
The guy looked at me like I WAS CRAZY.
My vote for the Darwin award.

If both bonds and stock fall together, then Zeev may want to revise Nassacre 03 DOWN.(g)
If both types of investments fall, then liquidity will be a huge issue. I have felt that one may precipitate the other. Drop in stocks deep enough may cause bond selling for the cash and/or margin. Or the opposite.
Interesting action today.

Midwest Ne Home Sales Plunge 26.4 %
Midwest new home sales plunged 26.4 percent last month over February despite brisk activity in other parts of the country. The Commerce Department said sales soared 82.5 percent in the Northeast, 15.9 percent in the South and 7.3 percent nationwide as homebuyers emerged following the harsh winter. Mortgage rates were the lowest on record during the month, offsetting the weakest consumer confidence in nine years.

No...Europe taxes gasoline to death...
Well, so does the US. FED, State, sales, and local taxes are about 1/3 to 1/2 the price of a gallon of gas.

There is a another gap to fill just above 7.00
Sold May 7.5 Covered Calls Wed. and bought Jun 7.5 puts
Didn't think they would payoff in 2 days!!!

The last 4 moves up have been on high volume. Then several days of drift with low volume.
Lot's of debt, but GM is key. New car models have XM Radios installed. It is a no brainer to buy subscription.
Strong on strong volume..11m shares today
Bearmove,
200sma has bottomed
Any chance soon of closing gap around 7.30, or does it not look back?

Firms ask for more time to file 10-K forms
A record number of U.S. companies this year sought extensions for filing their 10-K forms with the federal government, The Wall Street Journal reported. With many citing new requirements that CEOs and CFOs attest to the reports' validity, 1,634 companies asked for extensions to file the annual statements with the Securities and Exchange Commission. That's a 30-percent increase over 2002, when 1,268 sought extensions.

Pentagon confirms Apache shot down...NBC TV NEWS
CBS News - 1st and 3rd Marine Divisions have crossed over into IRAQ
Now reporting that this is at least 24 hours prior to plan with fewer airstrikes than anticipated. Hoping that Saddam is dead, Administration does not want to cause too much physical destruction.
Instead of the simultaneous cruise missle, air sorties assault, the risk was taken to start early in the morning to take out Saddam. Day light ruled out the ground assualt starting.
I know, based on the history of warfare, none of this is slow!
This is why a slow start was not a good start.
Gives Iraq time to: shoot back, set traps, light fires, blow dams
If Saddam was not take out with the first strike... it may still be over in a few weeks, just not as cleanly.
IMHO bad for the markets. Takes some of the euphoria out of a victory.
Believe me...I can't stand NBC Today...especially Katie!
Just don't have cable/satellite at the office.

This is going to be a wild news morning...
NBC (TV) is still sticking to CIA speculation that Saddam may be dead...
NBC reporting that missle attack may have hit Saddam. The CIA doubts that the tape of Saddam was actually him.

Ameritrade is down due to transfer of DATEK accounts to their own clearing house. I got a letter last week letting me know. I assume since I was a DATEK transfer.
If you were always with Ameritrade, then a courtesy notification would be in order.
That was posted at 8:30 We'll see.

I agree it is a loophole. And this Anti-SUV, environment crowd tried to use it to give the administration a black eye.
Next year I may be even taking advantage of it.
It may have worked. But the goal was to get business to increase capital spending by giving them a much higher first year write-off.
Although such incentives take a long time play out. If you don't have the money in the first place, how are businesses going to buy equipment to depreciate? Oh yeah...borrow. <g>
caddman
I am trying not to argue. But there is a reason 6000lb vehicles are treated different. Have been for a while.
Listed Property in Form 4562 is for vehichles under 6000 lbs. IRS feels they may be available for personal use.
Vehicles over 6000 lbs can be considered as capital equipment and therefore subject to the new higher first year depreciation limits.
Form 4562 Depreciation and Amortization
Instructions
snip...
Amortization
Amortization is similar to the straight line method of depreciation in that an annual deduction is allowed to recover certain costs over a fixed time period. You can amortize such items as the costs of starting a business, goodwill, and certain other intangibles. See the instructions for Part VI.
Listed Property
Listed property generally includes:
-Passenger automobiles weighing 6,000 pounds or less.
-Any other property used for transportation if the nature of the property lends itself to personal use, such as motorcycles, pick-up trucks, etc.
-Any property used for entertainment or recreational purposes (such as photographic, phonographic, communication, and video recording equipment).
-Cellular telephones (or other similar telecommunications equipment).
-Computers or peripheral equipment.
I think this issue was blown way out of proportion.
Isn't the tax break for write downs for Capital Equipment? For many yes, an SUV is a piece of capital equipment for their business. But for other business it could be a piece of machinery, etc.
I don't really think this proposal was meant to encourage people to drive more SUV's, but to give a larger write down on capital purchases to increase more buying capital equipment.

not my idea, but from a very famous economist
I agree about AG.
I only watch that trash (CNBC) for entertainment value, and I got that this morning.
This Sen. was REALLY mad. Talked about how Greenspan was changing his tune about fiscal policy and monetary policy within 2 years time.
If AG wanted to prevent the bubble, he should have taken steps back when he said "irrational exuberance". Not after the bubble was way out of control and unsustainable.
I really crack up at all these officials. Presidents, Congressman, Fed Chairmen, that think they can significantly stop economic forces. Yes they may be able to soften the landings and minimize the bubbles, but they cannot stop the 10 Principles of Economics.

CNBS (g) this morning...
I don't know if any body else posted this so sorry, I just got in.
A Senator from KY (R) said that he was very upset with Greenspan. Mark Haines was taken completely by surprise, even said so! The Senator said that he was tired of AG medeling in fiscal policy and the markets when his authority should be limited to monetary policy.
LMAO!! This guy was actually angry...AG should not expect too many friendly questions.

Augieboo,
I was backing you up. If EXPE doesn't 20K of option interest, it does not have to follow the indecies moving to MP.
With MP moving down on the QQQ's this week, any bounce will be very light.
caddman
Augieboo,
Exactly...but any issues not susceptible to MP that can move the indicies are targets to help move QQQ and SPO's to MP with out moving large issues like MSFT, INTC, etc.
Max Pain has been dropping, so any bounce to MP does not have to be very significant. Which seem to agree closely to the turnips
