can make couple of them tomorrow if you like.
i-nigma has nice booth with a lot of references, 3GVision and Mobiletag are also looks good. Competition will be strong between readers... Also, control over majority of readers is myth.
booth at MWC08 is really ascetic... And people look very tied. Looks like results of day and night work. Only lady from commercial dep are fresh and full of energy:)
Ruby on Rails... I am really in shock. If company try to setup nation wide service or even more global things it have to use real enterprize level platforms. It is a rule in IT. It is because each tier in chain must be trusted and have first class support. Can you get it in open source? NO.
Pro IT solutions has one key advantage over non-pro: they are predictable in cases of exceptional failures. Including hardware, firmware, software, networking and scalability.
Java for MIDP phones is normal becase it gives platform independence. But it also not open , has serious companies behind and more truoble of clients than service provider.
Neom have to think at least about MS server products. Cost money but worth it.
Is there somebody who can influence NEOM?
answers may be private.
I have a feeling that speaking about global things like Google, Yahoo and so on you forget about importance of local presence. For instance, i do not worry about globalization because i always will get part of market in Baltic States:)
Neom should work on local offices or partners then they survive in any case
i had similar thought...
if MS will get Yahoo! MS will do all alone.
Google MAY work with someone or at least buy someone:)
no, i mean NEOME, not NEOM. Company the same, share cost different price
what is NEOME symbol on otcbb?
Jaxo works in USA as well it is a fact:)
Jaxo Systems :) nice products. What do you think?
http://jaxo-systems.com/home/
Microsoft wants to purchase Yahoo! but deal is still under question mark. I personally like this step, because I want to see multi-polar world than just one Google with AdSense (at the moment > 50%).
At the moment Google has all - wish, AD technology, partners and worldwide presence. It is the best partner.
MS (and I know it very long time) CAN do a lot alone, without NEON, Scanbuy or any other. MS has real experience on mobile platforms, Java is also not a question for MS..... SO, I see big probablity of a case that MS will do all w/o partners like NEOM. In best case MS will buy NEOM:) But chances are low because NEOM should show something unique or at least patents which really works.
I would start playing with Google.
As usual, it is just my personal
You are right;) i am looking for partners and will definetely find some.
I am on this blog about month or so and still cannot understand one thing - why do you "press" NEOM to inform you or anybody else about progress?
I am sure that only stupid one can announce half-way progress and open TOP SECRET strategy to competitors. You should trust CEO or sell your stock. Even having strategic agreements, company must wait right time for announcemens as well.
Some of you have a very developed analytical skills and publishing possible strategies here you help your enemies (strongest ones)compete NEOM on a half-way to target. This blog is not private club of well known and proven friends... Even me, are you sure that I am not an emeny of spy?;)
When business come to strategic decisions even here, in small country with just 3mln people, we take serious measures to protect information. We even encrypt all internal documents and emails....
NEOM comes to new universe as a pioneer and nobody should know its potential. You, and I as well, should trust and wait. Mental speculations cannot help to earn money here, imho.
incorrect decoding it nearly impossible because most of 2D codes use FEC
you are right, there was such recommendation but modern phones especially cameraphones break this limitation. .5mb is a lot but not critical.
To identify user you need to pass user id to server together with url or encoded index, or use cookies. First method depends on reader, second on user's wish not to delete or allow cookies. Both methods are not reliable.
i think they either deliver custom web solutions to their clients or direct users to own site for processing before redirection to products.
Much cheaper and more reliable to use proprietary resolution service and force other readers transfer information you need but not relay on good will or other conditions. I am sure NEOM use right way.
For instance, Semapedia is much far away from money because they use public standard code and standard URL that leads directly to client's web pages... Typical case of bypassing.
Yes, I have seen this:) It proves that NEOM has right strategy. I have never said different and that is why I am here.
There are different opinions on the subj. But reality is - if you want to get part of revenue, you should have proprietary code or proprietary resolution service based on indexes. Otherwize user bypass you on a way to product.
if you accept this then you can see that difference is on technology level that is not interested to all carriers, users and product/content providers
Apple is just 1% of the phones but it much more visible then closest competitors even. NEOM does not want to use benefits of Apple. It is a fact:)
IMHO, Google will come 100% and better be with Google not to be at all. It has money, AD experience, all key clients and so on.
If I would decision maker in NEOM, I first tryed to became a Google right hand in mobile 2D technology.
Thank you for comment... I always thought that to get in contact with such people is inpossible because each mail in filtered of by secretaties at least:)
Do you know what I can offer to him?
And... it is notmal that there is no contact info there:))))
in a two weeks. Barcelona.
I go to establish relations with some players on mobile AD / mobile commerce market. If I will find something interesting - let you know, but we have two weeks ahead...
I will go there but not as exhibitor:) Purchasing in progress. In my country I have a problems to find a broker who has resonable fees. Currently they want 0.005 - 0.01 from eacg share but it is double price:)) So, we have some some and I hope they can offer better conditions...
Men, do not panic. How many did you lose? 10 times? 100?
Actual variations around 0.01 are not dangerous anymore. Wait at least the end of Mobile World Congress.
Semapedia is not my friend:)))) But they tested iMatrix and included iPhone into list of supported devices. They are collegues or people those believe in the same future. As well as NEOM. We are not friends but not enemies as well.
Friend is too strong term for me, I have just 4 friend in my life. So, I would say they are kind and friendly.
That is right definition:) I even can say more:
Some time ago we started one project related to ticketing and question was where to get EXTRIMELY CHEAP borcode readers those have buil-in communication via GSM. We tryed several including CASIO, SYMBOL, BlueBird and etc. But answer was:
mobile phone. We selected Sony Erisscon K310i.
- for two year agreement it costs ZERO
- it has extrimely fast Java and can decode 2D codes in a part of second!
- it has GPRS:) ant is it not an add-on that glitch, it is its native part that works always
- it works a LOT OF HOURS from battery and small
- it works as phone:))
Can you meet the same with PDA or PC?;) Even not try. iPhone comes closer but it costs money.
Taking into account mass production of mobile phones, PC will never come close to price of mobiles.
Bigger screen, WiFi, less power consumption and third party applications.... and we will use mobiles more frequently than PC at home:)
contact chip cards are more secure of course. But please take into account that electronic pocket or mobile pocket is not credit or debit card. You store 100-1000 times less on it and security measures for such amounts are more than adequate.
next thing is 2006 CC had a technology of 2004 in best case. 2005-2007 make big steps ahead. NFC is coming in EU in form of city transport tickets and city cards - ala el. Pocket.
RFID tag installed into mobile phone can be used as electronic pocket. It is much more secure than files on local disks, java sandboxed storage and so on. For instance, SONY Felica, is really secure thing I personally played with it half a year ago..
Even more, tickets ordered via 2D smark tags can be stored in NFC tags... Companies testing dual technology now - you can communicate NFC chip wirelessly and on board.
As to tagging - I agree with you 100% - 2D tags is more secure because user MUST initiate session. Password is an option but not everybody set it for bluetooth even:)
NFC will never replace 2D codes. It is interesting directions with money in it BUT...
if you want to return your investments and get profit - pray the God to give NEOM a part of mobile AD market based on 2D codes. When it will success in 2D, next step is RFID based money transactions.
One free advise that can be applied to any IT company which try to push new technology on the market, not NEOM only.
We are lifing in very interesting world now. Information is moving very fast and, having physics background, I think it is the same low as generations of living beings. I mean information about solutions, not solutions itself (I assume NEOM has what to show). Then, if information want to survive, it must be resistant from agressive competitors and must replicate itself as fast as possible.
Resistanse means either shocking info that will stay in first rows on news portals a long time OR it must come from not stantard places where nobody expect it.
Replication means you should generate as many implementations as possible, even small one but sharp and clever one. Replication is a main law for living beings. Adapt yourself to different conditions.
Examples I use:
1. I know how HARD to promote readers for GSM phones, Java based. Terrible and dirty job w/o significant progress. I found nice idea - use iPhone that has real Applle's marketing behind and a million eyes watching it.
2. We issued corporate X-mass cards in a form of QR Code with just one phrase - WAP link to Java application. It worked WELL!
3. I found nice publisher who sell my other software I developed for iPhone. In each application About screen shows: In cooperation with iMatrix and coordinates. It really increase user DB. Try this:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=VoiceDial+iPhone
I did what Apple did not. It is really shocking news that leads to user's interest in iMatrix as well. At it works.
There are other two applications with similar idea: do what Apple forgot but users like.
4. Make small step (but with real results) and submit to secordary news portals free). It create REAL informative background. Whant example? Compare hit statistics for:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=active&q=NeoMedia+2D+codes
and
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=active&q=iMatrix+2D+codes
Take into account, NEOM costs millions of $$$, iMatrix - is my private promo project.
Now, can you imagine costs of these stepts?;) For me, (3) covered ALL my expenses tens times fold.
This is just one example of very simple very cheap strategies.
What do you think?
Sir,
first link is just one of thousands end - user applications, web based. They use 2D code just to identify (ordering) table at cashdesk. I personally will never use this strange application for promotion or for statements like "we are cool". This is not cool and using 2D code as a bridge between order and money is also not so clever.
Second one - nice! It is exactly what I am doing in Baltic States at the moment. ShotCode or QR or Datamatrix - it is not so important for users, I insist on it.
But ShotCode, as a proprietaty format, has less chances for wide integration into readers than standard based QR or DM.
I hope NEOM will take this into account, if not yet.
Nice joke:)))))))
Also let me say this. I am sure acquiring one valuable player by another one is not good strategy at the moment because formal work and disordered staff can delay required acceleration and convert resulting company from leader to loooooser. Much better to have strategic and top secret agreements or signed intentions and then, let me say in a half a year or even year, do merge.
People should fight now for any carrier in a whole and for dedicated applications in particular.
Let's imagine I or somebody else know strategy. Can someone from this blog influence NEOM?
Right. I see a chance to get huge returns.
i may be wrong of course. But i am sure we do not neet to wait next years to see results. It is a question of this year only. Looser or not.
Java - yes:) I started with it and iMatrix is more or less port of Java to OS X. Microsoft Mobile 5.0/ 6.0 yes IF manufacturer included camera driver, that is not always true.
S60 - We use Java applications on them w/o any problems. Of course, Java is slower but works. If we will see real potential in S60 native code - we will do it in a couple of weeks. Palm - I personally see no interest in it, as well as others. I have no plans to satisfy all users, but majority is a must!
no, that blog generates 2d codes automatically for each post and users shot them from iPhones via iMatrix to load info directly to mobile terminal.
Did not catch your question about elabotation of article about iMatrix... Sorry. Can you re-phrase your question because my English is far from ideal?;)
Please note, that www.iphoneworld.ca has implemented iMatrix for each post... I can say it is popular service.
