A mind-boggling hybrid of "Psycho" and "The Seven Samurai".
Actually, if it would've gone on for just a beat or two more it was going to turn into a quite hilarious routine worthy of Monty Python or SNL!
Somewhat OT: "Token" Executive Purchases Department:
There was a discussion a while back when some of the GTCB officers bought stock. While some amounts could be called "token", I felt others were not.
The bond insurer Ambac Financial (ABK) has seen its stock go from $96 to $7 in five months, and it should get worse. They just diluted to the tune of 180 million new shares.
Today, their CFO Sean Leonard, who makes at least a million a year, bought 1,000 shares.
Now that's a token!
A Bum Asks a Man for $2...
The man says, "Will you buy booze?" The bum says, "No." The man says, "Will you gamble it away?" The bum says, "No." So the man says, "Will you come home with me so my wife can see what happens to a man who doesn't drink or gamble?"
Big snowstorm coming to my area, have a safe weekend all:
>...you as a shareholder are entrusting your money to the management of the company to invest that properly.<
I'd have to respectfully disagree with this. As an investor, for investment purposes only, it behooves one to look at the management and the company as one in the same. You're buying shares in the whole package and your DD should include a careful look at the whole package.
I share your frustration, but I also share your final thought, "Still looking forward."
Not talking about your objections.
However, I'm going to assume that you would not be flattered if I said that you come across as sincere but you're really a smooth operator with a convincing New England accent?
> Does anyone here have an opinion regarding value vs. dead money?<
Apljack-I'm not sure if you mean regarding this particular stock, or the situatiion in general.
As to the situation in general, been there many times as have most investors. I always try to take my "I won't/can't lose" ego out of the formula and look at it more dispassionately.
The PPS is where it is right now, today, whether I like it or not. If I bought it right now, today, could I make 20% (my goal) in a reasonable amount of time? If so, I keep it.
Or, is there another stock that I could buy, right now, today, that I could make 20% in a reasonable amount of time. If so, I sell at a loss, buy the new stuff, and move on.
I just cut one looser loose last week, bitterly! Bought a bottomed-out stock that day, back to even overall today!
The personal attacks on Dr. Cox and the conspiracy theories are just ridiculous.
Sometimes a banana is just a banana. He's doing the best he can.
I liked the fact that he departed from the planned remarks and said, regarding yesterday's action, "I'm personally frustrated and even angry."
OT: I'm dusting the house today:
Men do more housework, but not yet a fair share
http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/nation/bal-te.chores06mar06,0,7207897.story
Associated Press
March 6, 2008
NEW YORK - American men still don't pull their weight when it comes to housework and child care, but collectively they're not the slackers they used to be.
The average dad has gradually been getting better about picking himself up off the sofa and pitching in, according to a new report in which a psychologist suggests the payoff for doing more chores could be more sex.
Wow! I knew that Asians seem to smoke a lot and enjoy an increasingly "Westernized" diet, but I never tuned-in to any of these cancer stats. Simply amazing!
No wonder Pfizer smells money.
Question for the medical folks on the board:
In an interview just aired on CNBC, Pfizer CEO Jeff Kindler said that Asia has a tremendous cancer problem and that Pfizer is going to focus on that.
He said that there are some types of cancer that are "unique to Asia."
What types? TIA.
Just relax and enjoy the ride!
Long story!
Probably best to carefully digest the "Read Me First" info at the top of the page.
At this price it's a buy.
Couldn't resist: got 40K shares at 0.56.
What the heck!
Let's hope for some good news tomorrow.
I've still got this one on my watch list.
In your opinion: any "organic" reason why it's coming back down, or just folks taking profit? TIA.
Think on this just a bit, my friend, not that it will make any difference...

Sophocles (496 BC - 406 BC), Antigone
Or a New Yorker cartoon from many years ago (I wish I had a copy):
It depicts a vast room, like the floor of a casino, with row after row after row of slot machines. Right in the middle of one of the rows is a man seated at a desk and his nameplate reads "Stockbroker".
The caption of the cartoon is: GET THE PICTURE?
With the fearful strain that is on me night and day, if I did not laugh I should die. ~Abraham Lincoln
> I just hope that you are bullish on GTCB because you like its prospects and not bullish just because you own the stock.<
Sorry to butt in, but I'm a bit puzzled.
I own a stock and I'm bullish on it because I like the prospects. Unless you're short, don't you?
That’s it, my conscience cannot keep a lid on this any longer, let the truth be told.

The man on the grassy knoll.
The real William Shakespeare.
Gatekeeper of Area 51.
Supreme MojoMaster of the Masons.
The man in who’s backyard the Apollo Lunar Lander really touched down.
Henry Kissinger.
The Druid king responsible for Stonehenge.
Darth Diligence, Dark Lord of The Market, Controller of All Stocks.
Above all remember this: Dark and Sinister Forces are at work. You are not responsible for your own investment decisions.
I was walking home one night and a guy hammering on a roof called me a paranoid little weirdo. In morse code.
-Emo Phillips
"Mulder, are you suggesting that we somehow create our own quirky focal points of paranoia, as a result of the lack of things that are worth fearing in our day-to-day lives? That we're not whole as beings without something to worry about, something to keep our eye on?"
"That's my point exactly, Scully. What if, in a society characterized by a Goldilocks economy, we can't find anything to worry about? What if we somehow go looking for things to fear, things that will destroy this economy, things that will reach every corner of government, every
enterprise, every man, woman, and child?"

OT: Keith Richards Says "Lay Off The Dope"
(OR YOUR FACE WILL LOOK LIKE THIS!)
'Lay off the dope,' Keith Richards advises
Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has advised young people to "lay off the dope" in an interview with monthly magazine Uncut, the BBC is reporting on its Web site.

This might help....

You might be right and best of luck to you.
As for me, I've just gotten so darn cautious I've started to scare myself! I've got to see something baseline for so long that there's barely a pulse before I'll trust that it's at the bottom. If this went back into the low 1.40's I'd consider it.
It's a "fairly good deal", not quite a "steal", IMO of course.
Still looks to be moving sideways at best, some folks might look at the chart and say it's still trending down. Close call.
I'm waiting to get in at 1.40 tops.
I'm having an awesome day on the market today, not one of my stocks is down!
Totally OT: Something is wrong with this whole situation, but I honestly don't know how it can be fixed. I'm a vet, I own a gun and I agree with the Second Amendment,
BUT
when I read this about the latest campus shooter:
"Investigators learned that a week ago, on Feb. 9, Kazmierczak walked into a Champaign, gun store and picked up two guns — the Remington shotgun and a Glock 9mm handgun. He bought the two other handguns at the same shop — a Hi-Point .380 on Dec. 30 and a Sig Sauer on Aug. 6."
I have to wonder when enough is enough, and the seller doesn't begin to ask some serious "Why do you want them?" type questions.
It's tough out there! Have a great weekend all.
WE'RE GETTING THERE, INCH BY INCH, BUT IT AIN'T EASY!
In today's presentation Cox of course did not comment on the share price. However, IMO the most relevant statement he made concerning the market's perception of GTCB and the resultant PPS is: "Sometimes we suffer from the fact that there is not a clear peer group for us."
Practice Discipline Over Conviction:
I posted this on the Biotech Values board, but I was really thinking about GTCB as the adage applies quite aptly to this stock.

"Regardless of how the next few percent shakes out, remember that there are two sides to every market. They’ll each get loud when the price action validates the view but a steady hand should guide your ride. Practice discipline over conviction and surround yourself with people you trust that have skill-sets that complement your own."
