Ubuntu is the probably best Linux desktop going. I just installed it on a friends Windows laptop. The Ubuntu install process will handle setting up a dual boot setup with an existing Windows system very easily so there's no need to go all or nothing with Linux. You should consider giving the dual-boot a shot!
About 2 years ago my mother in law asked me for advise about what computer she should buy. She had never had a computer before but she used them at work. At that time I had never used a MAC but I certainly knew of it's many virtues so I advised her to buy one. After a couple of months of research she agreed with me and purchased one. Needless to say she absolutely loves it and has not once had to call me for any kind of technical support! MAC's are the way to go for many people and are the most secure commercial platform for handling financial transaction such as trading.
Hi BillyJack,
You betcha, don't hesitate! I'm in the computer security business and I own a MAC. Securing my client's networks using Windows would be like the blind leading the blind. LOL I've run Linux on my desktop and laptop since 1996. A few months ago my laptop's hardware died so I decided to buy a Macbook pro. I love it! It's almost as good as Linux!
Meg, MAC's are great for trading plus you just don't need to worry about viruses and the constant flow of stupid Windows "issues". MAC's are a joy to use and they always work! The upfront cost is more but don't be deceived by cheap Windows PC's you will always pay dearly down the road.
Wow, bling bling! I hope that bad boy runs Linux, it would be a shame to waste it on Winders.
days like this don't coming around every day
FAZtastic!
Will do sir!!!
I'll second that!
and this democracy is right on schedule
oh and speaking of voters voting themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.......
<~~Breadwinner In the Family~~>
This is the kind of things that we, the tax payers, can be proud of??*
I was speaking to an emergency room physician this morning. He told me that a woman in her 20’s came to the ER with her 8th pregnancy.
She stated “my momma told me that I am the breadwinner for the family.” He asked her to explain. She said that she can make babies and babies get money for the family. The scam goes like this: The grandma calls the Department of Child and Family Services and states that the unemployed daughter is not capable of caring for these children. DCFS agrees and states that the child or children will need to go to foster care.
The grandma then volunteers to be the foster parent, and thus receives a check for $1500 per child per month in Illinois . Total yearly income: $144,000 tax-free, not to mention free healthcare (Medicaid) plus a monthly “Linx” card entitling her to free groceries, etc, and a voucher for 250 free cell phone minutes per month. This does not even include WIC and other welfare programs. Indeed, grandma was correct in that her fertile daughter is the “breadwinner” in the family.
I hope you share this story with your contacts so they know how the ruling class spends our tax dollars.
Cheers,
Sebastian J. Ciancio, M.D. Urologist, Danville Polyclinic, LTD.
I couldn't agree more! PC's are deceptively cheap but down the road they cost you dearly in stupid issues and problems, security headaches and ultimately lots and lots of money! MAC's are cheap in comparison, really!
Nice, thanks for the heads-up! I'm playing around with it too and it does look interesting.

Sidney, I've looked at FOREX from what I believe is a similar lens as yours and I would agree that something else is in order. The equities market is driven by fear and greed. I don't see that same driving force in FOREX, it's there but not to the same extent as equities.
The charts tell me it's time to rise against other currencies and gold. The US equities market will tank. But what do I know LOL

I have a reason, the reason is that ALL indicators across multiple time frames are pretty much screaming to buy FAZ, that's why.
