I am in for the long haul. This stock was never a short term investment, even when I did buy it for $1.86/share. I have done my DD and there are things that I like and things that really bother me about the company. But....through it all I still have faith and I am willing to invest in what I believe in.
For me, I am comforted by the fact that they are being tight lipped. This way they are not distracted by other things. I would not feel so comfortable had it not been that other people are doing their DD and had contacted the company, done their research, etc. It is a team effort. Of course, you need to read through the messages to understand what a person is saying. You also need to do your DD on what they are saying and follow it through if possible. You also need to read who is writing the messages to understand what point of view that person is taking. But all in all, I think this message board has been very insightful for this stock.
We can not guide the stock into the direction that we want it to go, we can only follow the direction that it is taking. I want to be on the band wagon with many shares before it takes off.
Hummert, I was thinking about the same thing. With the price as low as it is now, it can't go any lower. I am in for part, but I can't in for it all. 50 mil tops.
Has anyone seen this? May 18, 2008
11:30-12:00 Keynote Four: Domestic Industrial Leader: Successful Case Studies of Domestic Business Models on Industrial Biotechnology Corporation Development in China
The key things here are: keynote speaker and Successful case study of Domestic Business Models. Let's just hope that this will reflect in the stock soon.
I found this at http://www.bitlifesciences.com/ibio2008/Program.htm
Does anybody know if IBC will be going to the big bio conference in Hawaii? http://www.bio.org/pacrim/ I read somewhere that they were planning on attending, but I don't see them on the list. They have gone to these types of conferences in the past. This is a great place to get their name out there, see what others are doing and make contacts in multiple areas.
It could just be that they were late in paying and they did not make the cutoff date to put their name on the list or it could be that they are money constrained and are limiting their travel expenses.
I am just an investor just like you. I have invested my hard earned dollars just like you. I have lost 99.9% of my money in this just like you.
I still have the faith that good things are coming. (Still have the rose colored glasses on). There is no need to jump on my case because I still believe that good things will happen in the end. I did not jump on your case for you thinking that bad things will continue to happen.
My understanding is in why they were silent (their research did not prove a stable product as they hoped). If you do an internet search you will see several references in other blogs about the same time as the price started dropping. I believe that by starting the new company they believe have something or they would not go to the trouble of starting the new company and just continue on with the old.
This announcement- http://www.pr.com/press-release/57491. Someone found this. I appreciate that.
As to the company forming BioRenewable Chemicals Corporation, this only makes sense as they are having IBC as the umbrella company and they want to have multiple other companies below like Advanced Pheromone Technologies, inc and Bio-Repellant Technologies, Inc.. Apparently they like to keep their different technologies in separate companies with IBC as the blanket company. The statement someone brought up from the email from David West seems to support this theory.
My thoughts and feelings on this is that IBC tried really hard to make the technology from Oxford and Rice work. They threw a lot of money and time at it and could not make product stable enough for industrial purposes. They tried and they failed, but they are taking their key learnings and moving on to something that is looking more stable.
My take on this is that this is a developing company consisting of mostly scientists. It is really hard when you put a lot of time, effort, heart and soul into making something work when you are so close, yet so far. R&D is extremely expensive and time consuming. There are no rule books here. There was no recipe of how to make it work. They have to discover this themselves. They really wanted to make it work and were not going to say anything until it did. Which is why they kept silent.
Since they finally had to come to the realization that they just had to stop because they could not find the recipe to make it stable, they took a left hand turn and are now persuing a product that they feel is stable and that has a market.
If what I am thinking is true, I can sympathize with the IBC team. I am an engineer by trade and I have been on projects that looked good on paper, but implementation was something totally different.
I don't have any contacts with the university. They are on the other side of the mountains. I do however have the website of the company.
http://advancedpheromonetech.com/index.html
It looks impressive and it seems to be in business.
Here is some research on one of their products from this year done by the USDA
http://cat.inist.fr/?aModele=afficheN&cpsidt=17186108
Here is another site stating where to find Pecan Nut pheromone traps. Some how this is related to Texas A&M . I have not read the whole article. http://pecankernel.tamu.edu/suppliers/index.html
Here is another scientific site that uses APTIV under the heading selected internet resources
http://www.loc.gov/rr/scitech/tracer-bullets/pestmanagementtb.html
This was all done with a simple google search.
One other thing to note. The day before the announcement of BioRenewable Chemicals Corporation, is when we had the 100 million day. It seems as though they did all their dumping at once instead of the trickle they did with IBTY. Didn't we read somewhere that BRCC would have 100 mil shares and IBTY would have 900 mil shares?
It seems as though IBC learned its lesson from the constant dumping as the price per share stayed relatively the same after the massive dump instead of slowly going down as happened in the spring and summer. Trading is pretty much back to the normal pattern it has been in for the past couple of months.
Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
Maybe I am missing something. I do not necessarily see this as a bad thing. The way that I take this is that IBC bought the rights to use the work from Oxford and Rice Universities. In the lab environment these worked as planned. We have heard rumor through this message board that they were having trouble getting from the lab to an industrial environment. While they spent a whole boatload of money trying to get this to work, they were unable to and or they found that there was no market for what they wanted to sell. They tried and given the reputations of the universities it seemed feasible. Along the way, they did find that they had a stable ethanol derivative. Through their prior work, they have made contacts in chemical industry and it sounds as though they have done a market analysis of what is marketable and targeting that.
We have also heard rumor (through prior posts) that big ethanol deal that we heard about last year is still going on. If this is the case, then the announcement 2 days ago makes sense.
What is encouraging is that they only stated the Oxford and Rice University patents were not being persued. They also have patents from Washington State University and Louisianna State University. Since there was no mention of these and they bought the companies that were formed due to their research, one would think that these are still viable.
what number was there supposed to be?
Considering that they were supposed to have 500,0000,0000 shares out there this will help the rest of us ratio and proporton.
If I were a CEO I would not let the public run my business. This is like having the tail wag the dog. We are all upset about the silence, but we CHOSE to buy part of their company. In doing so, we agreed that they were in charge.
Also, didn't I read somewhere they they were not allowed to give out news until it came to fruition?
Not everyone that is working hard is a liar and a cheat. It could just be that they are trying to develop their product, running into issues and there is nothing to report. This is normal especially for new companies that do not have a set test plan in place and has to develop their own test plans and validation to make certain that their product works as designed or in this case is of the proper quality. It would be MUCH worse if they sold the product before it was ready as this would destroy their reputation. Having delays does not hurt their reputation just upsets the stockholders which is the lesser of the 2 evils.
I'm still the one with rose colored glasses. R&D takes lots of time and lots of money. They started with something that is promising, but it takes time to make it into something valuable.
Think of it this way. They started out with their product being an RCG (Recent college graduate). We are wanting a seasoned professional. It will happen, just not overnight.
When did the after hours dumps end? I have not been watching too closely lately.
Has anyone heard what is going on with Advanced Pheromones? Is that making any money yet? If so, that is IBTY money.
Also, it is not uncommon for a corporation to have a slippage in their product launch. I don't like it, but it happens. The company that I work for often has uncontrolled slippages as it is cheaper for the company to hold a product until it passes its quality tests than to have a recall in the field. It is also better for thier reputation. It would have been really nice of the management though to keep us abreast of what they are working on, what stage their product is in and an estimated release date. For this I fault the management.
What concerns me is that I have not seen a Q2 report. The Q1 report came out in June and in that we saw that they increased the # of shares from 200 mil to 500 mil. With a base price of $0.001. Since the base price went below this, how are they going to adjust the books? Also, are they going to increase the share # or what are they going to do?
Now that they moved the business license to Georgia instead of Washington and they supposedly changed their name, when are they going to use the new name? Has anyone done a search under the new name? What have they come up with?
BTW, in the discussion on geographic regions, I live in Washington state. Hence the forest in forest trader.
does it have to be a boy???
Any way, what high level executive would want to join a company that wasn't legit? There is *far* more money to be made from a company that is selling product. Most people are honest and would not like their good name tarnished by shady dealings.
My question is who are they replacing and why? Or, are they expanding??? Didn't they say that they hired someone or 2 to replace Mark Truei? Where are they getting the money to pay for the salary of a new exec? You can not pay an exec in stock alone. This would be in the 6 figure range especially with that amount of experience.
I thought something like this was coming. If you look at IBTY's history, they change their name every couple of years. What this means and the reasons for this I do not know.
I had been watching the Washington state corporation licenses for a while. Their license was due to expire on July 31. It wasn't until July 20th or so that they renewed. I think that they were planning on this sooner, but it took longer than expected.
My question is why Georgia? I understand Washington as they have ties with WSU and we don't have state taxes here.
What is the tie with Georgia???? Why not Florida where the main office resides?
My point is I have as much tied up in this stock as the rest of you. I am not going to panic though with a group mentality on something that could be benign. What someone does in thier private life is their business as long as it is not coming from the company funds. Some of the execs at IBTY while shady at best but that does not mean that everyone in the company is.
As to the $0.02 I just went online and looked for philippine currency vs us currency.
As to the bio I used the backdoor. Only the home page of the IBTY website is under construction. All other pages are functional. http://www.industrialbiotechnology.com/leadership.html
I would be as upset as anyone if he was spending company money on funding boxing, but it might just be that he is has connections in the Philippines and likes boxing. If you look at the exchange rate it is 1 PHP = $0.02. The wages there are really low. It could be that he has his own money, time and passions. If someone could send their daughter to college, why can't he spend his money on boxing? Besides, we want corporate execs to give back to the community. (AS LONG AS IT IS NOT WITH CORPORATE FUNDS)
If you look at his corporate bio from the ibty website it states- "Mr. Doran was responsible for certain financings and acquisitions from Rice University and for developing strategic manufacturing relationships in Asia. Mr. Doran is currently directing the sales and client development efforts for IBC."
The group that I feel the most sorry for is the universities. They put their time, efforts, passions and lots of money in researching the process of which IBC now owns their patents. They can not sell their hard work to any other company in order for the world to see their efforts. The products that the universities produced were things that were to make this world a better place.
It is still my hope that it is taking a lot longer than IBC planned in order to take the raw idea from the lab into a viable industrial product. If their products could truly work in the manner intended and be stable enough for manufacturing, then I still see a future.
It is unfortunate the management is so risky. If you also look at Eric Tsao the Chief Scientist, you will see that he pulled a Martha Stewart. http://www.sec.gov/news/press/2004-132.htm.
It is my hope that the management team has learned from its past mistakes and is truly trying to make a viable product. This management team is risky to say the least.
I like your other post better . I think for most of us that have averaged down, this would be much closer to our pps.
At least IBTY is not following Mr. Dow.
I am as far away as one can possibly be in the US.
I don't think much of the activity goes on in Florida. Advanced Pheromone is in Oregon, they have some people in China, I believe that there are some people in Massachusetts. I can't find the article now that has the # of employees, but I will keep looking. I recall it was a pretty low #, like 25, but they were not all in Sarasota.
They have got to be using a set formula for the dumps. One that incorporates the volume and the daily pps. I haven't quite figured out all the variables, but you will notice that on the days of high volume we have high dumps. Conversely, on the days of low volume, we have low dumps. I haven't figured out how they calculate the daily pps. Generally this is the low average of the day, but there have been days in which the dump pps has been both higher and lower than the daily pps. Has anyone given this much thought?
The nice thing about the 200 shares signal was I need shares badly but don't take the price down.
Now we have the 100 shares at .002 which is I need shares badly. Hopefully they will buy their shares at this price and it will keep going.
"Effectively, TRT and IBC will become partners with respect to the marketing of ethanol or ethanol derivatives from Asia and identifying ethanol and ethanol applications for IBC technologies and capabilities."
I believe that is why they hired Twin Rivers Technologies. I don't think that they are going to produce ethanol there (TRT), but rather have Twin Rivers there for negotiations. I have been looking into this. It looks as though Twin Rivers recently sold off their oleochemical production so that they could produce ethanol, but IBTY does not have that contract it went to an Ohio company, but I can't find the source of that information right now.
Twin Rivers is a major deal because they understand what needs to take place in order to go from production to delivery of product to a customer. They have the infrastructure and experience for every phase of production to make certain that it is put in place.
My thought on this is that it is taking longer to supply the ethanol contract that they said they had in November. Mark Truie not withstanding. It takes a long time to efficiently produce a product with many tests, inspections and industrial issues that need to take place. It is one thing to product something in a lab, it is a whole 'nother ballgame to go into production. Once things are in place, then it will be smooth sailing.
My question back to you is how would they pay for a new company? All of the aquisitions have been through trade of stock. With the price this low, I think that would be doubtful.
Of you look at the timing of aquiring these 4 companies they were all purchased in about a years time. It has been almost a year since the last aquisition.
I don't think they are aquiring, but rather looking at ways to implement the technologies (companies) that they now own.
If you had Ameritrade, this is old news as MCT888 stated. Since it did not mention IBTY directly and stated that this affected 1100 biotech companies, I doubt this is the reason for the rise in stock. There were actually 2 news items on Wed that did not mention IBTY directly but came up as news for the ticker. I think that it has something to do with the extremely heavy volumes.
I mentioned this yesterday and was shot down, but I really think someone knows something as the volumes should not rise so suddenly without any changes. We have not seen anything different other than the stock dropping. Usually with the stock prices dropping, people would tend to sell out of fear rather than buy. Especially with a trend like we have had. The unusally high volume was sustained today but unlike before, the price actually rose (YEAH!)
Some of this will be flippers- granted- if this gets the stock to rise, more power to them. But I think there is something more to the heavy trading. It might be my rose colored glasses, but I really think there is something there.
What do you think the 3-4 fold rise in volume is attributed to? The volumes this week are just going nuts. Is it just that the value of the stock is worth 1/4 of what the average was in June to mid July so the scalpers are buying at extremely low prices? If they were looking at the trends, they would see that this is risky as the trend is does not seem to let up. There is something else going on here, I don't believe that it is just dumping because someone has to buy. The consensus of this group is that everyone is holding and most are not buying at least not in these amounts. There have been nearly 80 million shares traded in the past 5 days.
Has anyone done the math on the latest round of dumping? I believe that they finished with the initial 200M shares and they are now starting the extra 300M shares that they snuck in on the last quarterly. For the past week the average volume per day is ~18M and the after hours dumps are ~5M. At this rate, they will blow through the extra 300M in about a month. It will be interesting to see what the next quarterly report will bring.
I believe this more than anything else is the cause for the sudden decline in the stock price. We had gotten used to management's silence (not that we liked it but the pps had stabilized).
My point here is does anyone know Washington state corporate law? Is it legal for them to increase the amount of outstanding shares without notifying the shareholders?
Has anyone considered contacting UTEK Corporation and see what their take on the stock price is? Have they started any action and can we the stockholders jump on their bandwagon? They gave them a couple of companies- Advanced Pheromone Technologies Inc, Bio-Repellant Technologies, Inc and Advanced Bioscience, Inc for stock. Right now, I bet they are more pissed off than the stockholders!
Is there a way to contact Balance other than private reply? This is only for a premium subscription. I just have the free subscription.
yep, more than that.
I have done my DD and seen what conferences they are going to, who else is going to those conferences so that they can network, etc. If they were a fly by night company, they would not be able to get into some of these conferences or noted in some of the professional journals.
I also checked out the Advanced Pheromone Technologies Inc that they own. One forest contract and they are phat. There are sites for data on this.
I am not banking on their ethanol technology alone, but on being green. I guess right now that no one is seeing profit in green, but it will be the wave of the future. I am banking on that.
4mil and holding long
not me... tapped out... spent a year's salary on it. Wish I could have though. I still believe it will do good things.
Something is happening. Have you noticed the extreme trading that has been happening the past hour? Are they buying or selling?
Also, is anyone able to get into the industrialbiotechnology.com website? Normally it says that it is under construction. Now I get the page cannot be displayed.
Anyone notice that Alchemx.com is a future homepage?
I wonder what is up with that?
Does anyone know about the 80% sale of Twin Rivers to Felda Holdings on May 8? What ramifications does this have for IBTY? Could there be a buyout in place here too?
The news article can be found at
http://www.biznewsdb.com/english/newspage/newspage.asp?ID=70508152&file1=7&bulan=05&kw=w...
I have been crunching some numbers that I found at http://www.otcbb.com/asp/tradeact_mv.asp?SearchBy=issue&Issue=IBTY&SortBy=volume&Month=6...
This website contains all the mm's and how many shares that they have traded for the past year.
I also looked at the historical prices for IBTY and this year the decline has been between 36 and 85% per month. If you look at the first trading day of June and the first trading day of July, you will see that they both are .003, which is stating that the price is stabilizing. During this time, each month the volumes have significantly increased.
I have crunched the numbers and ytd the mm's have traded 196M shares. This does not include the shares traded in prior years. I have not taken into account any news articles on IBTY (mostly in the month of March). If my calculations are correct, then the AH dumping should stop soon (within the month). There is some fudge factor as these are not absolute #'s and there has been buying and selling going on that has not been the company trying to make capitol by dumping stock.
My take is that the management is trying what they can and will give some news after the dumping has ceased as to not appear to line their own wallets with the news - ethics.
I am new to writing on this forum, but I have been watching both sites for a while now. I have been encouraged by this site as I have felt that it was uplifting with encouraging news and information. I really hope that it continues to do so.
I have 4M shares and I will continue to hold them as I feel the more shares that are kept in the individual shareholders hands, the more scarce they will become. It is a normal issue of supply and demand. If we all hold, eventually the pps will have to go up.
I believe in the concept that IBTY stands for. When I bought my first share in October I did so because they are a green company that is trying to do good for the environment. This takes time, effort, congress, etc.... more than just investor wants alone.
I am in no way affiliated with the company...just an individual investor.
