I guess also you want the SP to go up. In order to increase awareness amongst a bigger audience than e.g. Ihub, financing and off take agreements alone may not be enough. As we have noticed not all good news has a positive effect on the SP. The company feels it needs more awareness for Niocorp, niobium and scandium amongst financial analysts, retail and institutional investors, future customers and industries. Again this is not a one off action, but needs to be continuous. Hope you agree.
Since we keep on talking about a mining project. The capex related to the underground mining facility is only 20% of the total capex including 11% contingency. This is a huge and modern industrial chemical process plant which happens to have a mine in its backyard. Just to make sure we are all on the same page.
They are in the process with the banks since two years. The financing strategy was explained in detail. Staged financing in line with needs and at appropriate levels. No big one off financing deals. No big equity/ownership deals. Keep dilution at bare minimum. Keep ownership control.Still 60/40 debt/equity. Financing will happen.
Interesting publication Dr Matheson yesterday on scandium market, supply dynamics, application areas and future pricing. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/scandium-saving-money-transportation-andrew-matheson
Not only is Dr. Matheson a Cambridge Ph.D. in theoretic physics and a Harvard MBA, but his company (Nanoscale Powders) is developing a process to manufacture specialty metal powders, based on patented metallurgical and chemical technology. In this regard, he is currently working with some very large aerospace companies – and with the U.S. DoD.
Message here we need all the scandium that can be produced including the Australian scandium. Pent up demand remains much larger than current planned global production forecasts. Prices will be around 3500/kg and will be rising in future. Please read the publication before shooting the messenger.
Mark Smith recognizes the need for more scandium resources above the 103T of Niocorp. . Reliable supply key for ( the airline) industry to change aircraft design and production. Minimal of 300 T per year are needed. Downstream savings for industry are huge. Biggest issue to make Australians understand that they need to price not according to production cost but based on the potential downstream savings (like CBBM does for Niobium). Global scandium demand will outstrip supply for the foreseeable future.
Of course share very undervalued. See comments of others on impending marketing and promotional activities to industry, investors and general public.
Anke, I hope and believe we will see next week a turn around. We have support on all US government levels, we have a professional board, a great management team. We have financial assistence from JP Morgan, Credit Suisse, Northcott, Lind and Mackie and the German Government. We have the US Department of Defense lined up for strategic support on scandium. We have off take agreements for Niobium with first class global customers like Carlisle/ Traxys, Thyssen Krupp and Tata and we have nine NDA'S for scandium. Nio will soon have the financing figured out, I believe. The PR machine starts coming week.
Welcome. Belief we will see turn around from next week's PR initiatives.
If you consider which companies' business models depend completely 100% on the effectiveness and efficiency of their data centers you need to think about Google, Facebook. Even self driving cars need data huge transmission and storage-capacity. Same goes for Apple, Amazon, Microsoft. Which companies have fast decision making processes and cash? Think again.
Compare e.g. with IBM and AIM in the US or NXP and Photondelta in Europe. I always notice more references to Google and Facebook than to other more 'tradional and established' companies and academic institutes. Again Just thinking loud.
Milkman, I will mention that to Mark and Jim next week. In Europe WalterC organised the meeting. I believe there is a group of investors in the US who want to do the same. By the way Nio organised on Line shareholder updatesin the past.
They will explain that to 120 critical investors on monday next. Try to find some divertissement until than. Getting sick does not do you any good.
Four days from today we have Mark Smith and team in Antwerpen. About 120 critical
investors will be present at the Crowne Plaza. We should have answers tot many questions. Patience.
EINDHOVEN PRESENTATION 26 SEPTEMBER 2017
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4KPaKVOBT9PaVlwdlR0emE1Q2s
I really do not know. Lebby said he produced the slide while flying from Sweden to Eindhoven, because he got frequent questions about the applicability of PIC'S in mobile phones.
New in Lebby's presentation is a slide showing Apples iPhone 8 and 10. Apple has above the screen in a row next to the camera for colour, an optical active infrared sensor and a 3d sensor. Each sensor has many different suppliers and components. Imagine a PIC of P2IC combining these components in an integrated photonic chip. This would open a gigantic market for PIC's.
Rectification. Pls disregard my previous message on the subject. This is what I understood today.
Investment bankers were in Eindhoven on invitation of Lebby. They told me that they have been working with Lebby and have had several meetings before. Even visited him in San Francisco. Their aim is
to understand the integrated photonics sector in order to get the right message to their clients. Lebby had been a great help here. Bankers want now to talk to European investors, hence Lebby's suggestion to talk to WalterC and me. NO more than that.
No, not privy to that information.Sorry.
My interpretation is that Michael Lebby is focussed on making sure he delivers what he promised this year and that in that case LWLG will not have problems in finding funding. Moreover funding is not an immediate issue for LWLG.
The bankers, I referred to, were Dutch investment bankers. Probably unknown to Lebby. It is not that he was not interested, but he referred them to WalterC and me for lack of time.
Please let me add, please understand that Eindhoven thinks it is the photonics center of the world ( very significant position in chips and chip production for over 50 years) and the conference attracted as normal, representations from the Dutch investment banking community. I personally think the bankers immediately understood the potential business impact of Lebby's story in the field of photonics.
Because they felt that I knew a lot about Lightwave and because Lebby had no time.
I was present in Eindhoven today and listened to the presentation of Michael Lebby. Business, banking and academia audience. Lebby presentation was scheduled for later in the day, but Lebby needed to fly out earlier. Lebby presentation was of different and much higher order than the presentations before. Presentators before Lebby basically were from design, packaging and chip production areas. Largerly discrete and electrical, indium phosphide and silicon looking for direction and business cooperation in photonics.
Lebby main message: Polymer Photonics can be used with InP and Silicon, but in itself will outperform InP and silicon on all data center pain points: speed, costs, energy consumption. There is big gap in timing and technology requirements between Google and Facebook and the photonics technology community.. Latter is caught up in their current paradigm of Inp and Silicon: too slow, too expensive, too much energy consumption. Lebby used slides from Google and Facebook. Both companies are prepared to change technology if this offers the opportunity to address their current needs 400 Gig and eventually 800 Gig and 10pV/bit and $1/gig. Lebby elaborated on application areas for PIC's and P2IC's. Showed a slide of VCSEL for 3 D sensing and PIC possibility in mobile phone market. A gigantic market opportunity for PIC's. ( Polymer Pics?).
Lebby presentation stupified audience. This went against common beliefs.Whereas other presentators got questions, Lebby got only one from the conference chair. Asked when if LWLG was already in the commercialization phase, he said quote" Let's say we are in the demonstration phase". After documenting LWLG's polymer modulator 28 Gbps, 50 Gpbs and telling the audience LWLG was working on 100 Gbps ( 8x 50 = 400 and 8x 100= 800 Gbps) personally I do not think he meant that LWLG is demonstrating to itself. I think he meant exactly what he said: we are showing it to others. After the meeting investment bankers wanted to talk to Lebby and me.
Great analysis. Share your way of thinking.
Fantastic news. This Will send shockwaves thru the Photonics technology and business community. The importance of this announcement Will soon sink in.
Just noticed and read the sticky note with the due diligence report. Looks interesting. SP seems not to react as hoped for. Any specific reason? Maybe fact that it still is a penny-stock with no institutional interest?
Why should I invest in a commodity that is abundantly available and why in Excelsior?
Take your challenge. Huge automotive and aircraft suppliers like Thyssen Krupp are constantly looking to improve their steel and aluminium supplies to their very demanding, quality conscious, german car and global aircraft industry customers. Reliability and quality of supply is key. I guess next to 75% off take Thyssen has for niobium, scandium looks like a nice add on possibility imo. Who knows? What about Traxys, same reasons. I guess the Chinese would go for the Aussie stuff. Enjoy Rumania.
Wednesday 20 september just before market opening Lebby to adress ECOC 2017 and to inform photonics technology community why polymer photonics is the only technology capable of adressing all current pain points in the data centers and the ideal substrate for PIC's. Curious to know how the message will be substantiated and demonstrated.
Tedro, first of all you keep repeating yourself. Secondly you seem to have little understanding of costing principles and risk assessment by banks. Thirdly the Northcott action today was a clear sign that financing is around the corner. Stop trying to convince yourself all the time that this project is bad. It is not.
ECOC 2017: Packaging of PIC's based on INp need to be 100 times cheaper to solve current industry requirements. Wait for Lebby to present LWLG solution polymer photonics.
I agree. Northcroft takes shares for debt because they are able to know that financing will be arranged.
Thanks for confirming that the additional capex for scandium is minimal. So the banks do not have to worry about capital investment in this case.
Means that no scandium extraction and no sales, no extraction costs. That was my point. Now even at full( allocated) costs of 1100 per kg, the upside in scandium is huge. More niobium is more scandium. It is the chicken laying golden eggs
and of course if they produce and sell more niobium they will get more scandium as a result. Niocorp could survive on Niobium alone. Nio could in theory produce and sell scandium at marginal costs. I do not think any of the competitors could do this without going bankrupt. Nevertheless I rather have them selling at 3675 per kg.
Wexworth. Scandium is a by product from niobium mining. Somebody should do a calculation based on 32 years life and additional scandium capex. If I do a back on the enveloppe calculation and I assume for argument sake 250 million ( I guess it will be less, but again this needs check-ing) than 250 million/ 32 years/103.000 kg per year= 76 dollars per kg depreciation. Maybe depreciation cycle is shorter and capex lower. Seems to me there is enough security margin for banks.
Thanks for your disclosure and sharing your pain. I think that was a very civil thing to do. Stop putting the blame on others, however. Take your own responsiblity. I guess you have to make a very personal decision to get out or stay in. If you stay, be a man, donot blame management and others anymore and try not to be too depressive on this board. I would recommend you stay and collect a nice reward in the next couple of months.
Could not say it any better.
Putz, I would love this thing to go up again. I am convinced the team will pull that off. The last PP had to be postponed because of the imminence of the BFS. Again trading is is about ( from memory) 100.000 out of 200 million OR 0.05 % per day with retail setting the price ( if my calculation is correct). Some fearful hands and the price drops. We need new institutional investment.
I would consider any deal OR purchase based on my assessment of the potential value and risk of the business proposition and the credibility of management to excecute. Significant long
term value creation will always attract funding from those in the business of value creation for their own shareholders.
I know a big one, who is not selling and convinced there is huge value here.
Putz, could it be
investors, who understand the mining development dynamics and who deem the current
share price a bargain ? Maybe perfect moment to pull out an even better deal than the previous one.
Less than a fraction of 1% of total shares is traded every day. The other 99.5- 99.9% stay put and hold for gold!
Just to add: just look at the numbers 4 Ihub messengers on the conspiracy side
in their self created 'echo chamber' against hundreds of shareholders and many more stakeholders, from government to ordinary Nebraskans. Just think of the odds. I like to listen to the company and to critial people, but not to these negative self proclaimed guru's.
Lot of guessing going on why SP stays at this level. Answer probably complexer than some suggest. Not one reason, but probably more. I believe one can assume that there is nobody in his right mind who wants to loose money. There are some who gain if price drops, others (most) gain if price increase. Than there are some who bought in the past, some recent and some considering buying OR selling. There are some confident about their investment because their past investment shows a profit thanks to their timing others loosing because of unlucky timing. And there are the investors who believe they could benefit at this very moment from lower prices by creating fear amongst the people who are currently underwater and the fact that some smaller PP parties may want to sell their shares to fund their warrants. The bigger guys ( Lind, Elysée) are not affected by fear, they look at the potential value and will not sell their shares. Their warrants are fantastic bonusses at this stage.
As always fear is a bad guide. At this stage, selling would be a pity imo. The conspiracy theories here on Ihub, are indeed Just conspiracy meant tot instill fear. I do not believe that people would make losses to prove a point of hold a grudge. This thing will fly. Do not be mistaken.
I
I believe this is the one you should be referring to.
