Can you imagine having to tell people you live in Hell? Lol!
Yes, and last night's SB was yet another example of that!
OMG! I think Hell just froze over:
Nittany Lions Upset No. 7 Michigan State, 85-76
Double-digit effort by four Nittany Lions boost PSU to upset
Feb. 2, 2008
UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. , FEB. 2, 2008 - A student section that roared enthusiastically all night long flooded the court as the final buzzer sounded as Penn State (11-10; 3-6 Big Ten) knocked off No. 7 ranked Michigan State (19-3; 7-2 Big Ten), 85-76, behind great play from guards Talor Battle and Stanley Pringle Saturday in the Bryce Jordan Center.
"It feels like a million dollars," said Battle. "It's just one of those feelings that you can talk about forever. When you are done playing the game and everyone storms the court and are holding people up."
A raucous crowd of over 11,000 fueled the Nittany Lions all night as Penn State beat its first ranked team since 2006 and ended Michigan State's five-game win streak. As a large contingent of basketball alumni looked on, Penn State downed its first ranked foe since a victory at No. 6 Illinois in 2006 (66-65) and beat its first ranked foe in the Jordan Center since also dropping a No. 6 ranked Illini team 98-95 in overtime in 2001. The victory snapped a six-game losing streak for the Nittany Lions and marked their first since losing leading scorer and rebounder Geary Claxton to a knee injury five games ago. It was the first victory for coach Ed DeChellis over his good friend Tom Izzo and Michigan State.
"It was a great win for our kids," DeChellis said. "We have had some crazy things happen and our kids hung in there and fought and made some plays tonight and made some free throws when we had to. Hopefully we got a little confidence back and you know, it was great for our fans and for our students. The students were tremendous. People came out even though we lost a bunch in a row. Our kids laid it on the line and we were able to win a game. So, I am very happy for our players and the fans."
Yikes. That's "brass monkey" weather!
There is a bright side to this - maybe they lost Mallet because of the coaching change but my guess is they will get the #1 HS QB because of it:
Jeannette's Pryor scratches PSU visit

Terrelle Pryor is not coming to Penn State ... this weekend.
Pryor, the Jeannette star quarterback who is considered by many to be the nation's top recruit, has reshuffled his visitation schedule, according to an online story today on SI.com, and will not make a previously scheduled trip to State College this weekend.
Michigan and Ohio State are believed to be the front-runners for the services of the 6-6, 220-pounder but Penn State is also in the running, according to Pryor, along with Oregon.
Pryor also told SI.com today that LSU in now on the list of schools he is considering.
"I'm taking my official visit to Michigan on Jan. 18, that's this upcoming weekend,'' Pryor told the website. "I was supposed to go to Penn State but that's changed.''
Pryor added he has not committed to a new PSU visit date and only has the Michigan trip on his schedule.
Pryor is expected to make his college choice on Feb. 6, National Letter of Intent Day.

Go Buckeyes! And it's not too often I can say that. <g>
Oops. ;)
I think that means that everyone who posts on here that happened to be in a bowl game this year were winners:
Penn State
Michigan
Wake Forest
Texas
Rutgers
Am I missing anyone?
Purdue won also - we need an OSU victory to go 4-4 in bowls.
What an absolutely great game for the Wolverines! It was so nice to see a great coach go out with a win. Congrats, ksquared. I swear that last TD for MI was the same play they used on us(opposite side) 2 years ago in our 11-1 season. Lord knows I still have nightmares reliving it! <g>
You too ksquared - I'll probably be asleep when the ball drops (as usual!).
That's quite a story. I'm really pullin' for Hawaii - everybody's underdog.
Now, now. <g> I did enjoy some of the clips they showed of his "Paternoisms" - especially his remarks to Doug Flutie. Lol!
Thanks. The best thing about these bowl games is that they are a steppin' stone to next season. We have 21 of 24 starters returning so it's looking promising for JoePa!
Not to worry - I don't bet on football but don't count out Big Blue. To my knowledge, Tebow can't walk on water! <g>
If FSU wins after losing 1/4 of the team with that cheating scandal, Bowden will deserve another few years on his contract!
Thanks, Longhorn. Maybe everyone around here will be winners this year. I think we're 2-0 so far.
Thank you, Ma'Dear. We'll wake you up when it's over. ;)
Go Wake!
Truthfully, who among us hasn't regretted saying something as soon as it's left our mouth? I'm sure the kid feels bad enough - no sense dwelling on it. Of course, I'm also sure the PSU players will try to use it to their advantage tonight. ;)
Good Humor uniforms. Lol!
Open mouth - insert foot?
Texas A&M red-faced over 'casket' comment at pep rally
Associated Press
Texas A&M Is Sorry for Paterno Casket CommentSAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Texas A&M officials have apologized to Penn State administrators for a student leader's references to needing a "casket" for coach Joe Paterno.
One A&M yell leader, during a pep rally Thursday night, told the crowd that Paterno was "on his death bed" and "someone needs to find him a casket." The remarks drew boos from the crowd.
Paterno turned 81 last week. Penn State faces A&M on Saturday night in the Valero Alamo Bowl.
A&M team spokesman Alan Cannon said Friday he did not know the name of the yell leader, though the student has been sent home.
The yell leaders -- similar to cheerleaders -- are A&M's official spirit organization and lead fans' cheers during games and other school events. They are elected by the student body.
Some A&M and Penn State fans said the student's remarks were offensive and inappropriate.
Paterno, at a news conference Friday at the Alamodome, said he was backstage with Aggies interim coach Gary Darnell when the comments were made, but did not hear them.
"I think everybody has to take things with a grain of salt," Paterno said. "Some young guy went up there, trying to be funny. Maybe he's accurate, I don't know."
Texas A&M's interim president, Eddie Davis, and athletic director Bill Byrne later apologized to their Penn State counterparts.
"I honestly didn't hear it, and I don't particularly care about it," Paterno said Friday. "Sticks and stones will break your bones but names will never hurt you."
Paterno, a 42-year head-coaching veteran, is about to enter the last year of a four-year contract that expires following the 2008 season.

Even tho the kid didn't seem to be arguing that he didn't touch it, I didn't see "indisputable evidence" that he did. It shouldn't have been overturned, IMO. You're going to have to win this one w/o me - it's late here in the east, I'm turning in. <g>
BTW, our game vs. A&M is Sat. night - opposite the Pats/Giants game. I'm sure the Alamo people are real happy about that. What a ratings disaster! Lol!
That has got to be one of the weirdest things I've ever seen in a college game! I really do feel sorry for the kid - they said it was Mack Brown's stepson. Even before Herbstreit eluded to the Chi. Cubs fan, that incident flashed thru my mind. Everyone looks for their 15 min. of fame but not that way! Lol! It looks like the "big Mo" has switched back to Texas tho - keep the faith!
BTW, quit showing the poor kid's face on national TV already!
Happy Holidays to all who read or post on this board & best wishes to all the bowl participants in the next few weeks!
And the dominos begin to fall. Looks like Bradley may be tired of waiting:
Penn State's Bradley contacted by West Virginia
Posted by David Jones December 17, 2007 20:29PM
Penn State defensive coodinator Tom Bradley has been contacted by an intermediary at West Virginia University regarding the Mountaineers' coaching vacancy, The Patriot-News has learned.
Bradley, who has been a Penn State assistant coach for 29 years and defensive coordinator since 2000, indicated he is interested in talking to West Virginia officials for the job, a source told The Patriot-News.
Bradley did not return two calls made Monday by The Patriot-News.
The Mountaineers are seeking a new coach to replace Rich Rodriguez, who was introduced Monday as the head at the University of Michigan.
Congrats to the Wolverines for snagging Rodriguez. It should work out nicely for your guys. He seems to be a 1st class coach.
Oh my:
5. Wyoming coach Joe Glenn gives Utah coach Kyle Whittingham the finger after an onside kick late in the Utes' 50-0 victory.
Let's be fair now - maybe he was just saying, "We're # 1".
Mercy, how'd that happen? Men's BB @ PSU has always, how should I say this, sucked! :)
That's the 2nd time I've seen something along those lines in print. I might have to start believing that there might be something to it.
Lol! Now, now. <g>
That truly surprises me - ya gotta respect his loyalty.
BTW, I hope you get Schiano. I've already resigned myself to the fact that we will never, ever beat Mich. but @ least with him leaving Rutgers, they'll stop recruiting all the good N.J. players away from us! <g>
You might not be far off about being carried off the field. They asked him the other night @ his induction ceremony into the college football hall of fame, "How do you see yourself leaving" and he responded that he wanted to collapse on the 50 yard line after PSU kicked the winning field goal. Lol!
BTW, Beaver was one of the former Gov's - almost all buildings on campus are named after them. I gotta think "The Beav" will be renamed at some point in the not too distant future & it won't be RENDELL Stadium either! ;)
Fyi: Rendell is the current Governor (unfortunately, imo).
He may have a long wait for JoPa's job - Paterno has 1 more year on his current contract & last week friends of his from Fla. donated $5,000,000 to the PSU athletic fund to "endow the head coaching position".
Oh my.
It was Gordon Lockbaum from Holy Cross but I was off a tad as far as the time frame:

20 years ago? Unbelievable.
That's interesting. I always thought that any underclassman was anyone not a senior - maybe it's a regional definition. ;)
Oh well, it's nice to learn something new every day.
How 'bout William "the refrigerator" Perry? The Bears used him as an RB for goal line short yardage situations as well as the defensive line in the 80's(?). Kinda stretching it, I suppose.
The kid from Holy Cross about 5-6 yrs. ago & the kid from Ohio State 3-4 yrs. back. I'll give you names about 3AM when I normally awake with these kind of answers. :)
Okie-Dokie.
Well, take your pick - according to Wordwebonline:
An undergraduate who is not yet a senior ...
And according to Webster:
a member of the freshman or sophomore class in a school or college
Huh, IMO. <g>
