Out of Puts @ 1.51 = 16%
I know what you are saying about company time.
I think I'll look into the wireless route with a broadband card. I do have a few breaks throughout the day and lunch that I can check the market and lower or raise my buy/sell bid. I'm not looking to daytrade, just be able to control my trading a little more.
Thanks for your input.
If I get a cable and plug it into my company's wall, will they be able to tell what I am doing?
I have a computer at work, but I can't use it for trading.
Blasher,
I need a way to be able to trade at work. Do you know if any of the providers offer a broadband card for the Apple notebooks to get internet access?
This would allow me to trade if I need to during the day.
Down QQQQ Down!!!
Thanks,
Sorry, typo Mar 45 puts
I should have put in a .10 limit order to sell today.
Still holding, but have time.
Thanks for sharing your strategy. kinda hard for me to wrap my brain around, lol. But I'll keep trying.
Do you need a min. amount of $$ in your account to sell the Puts?
Bought QQQQ Mar 44 Puts at open for 1.30
Blasher,
I'm going to have to study your strategy!
Bought Mar 44 Puts at open for 1.30
Hermutt,
A mental stop will have to do, if you can't put in a stop limit order. One idea is to draw a trendline and sell when it is broken.
Another idea is to sell half your position at say 20% and hold the remainder until a)expiry is close/you have a greater profit or b)the option comes back to your entry price. That way you are always assured of a profit and have a chance for a little greater profit.
Ken,
No I don't have any options on SHFL. I was just showing Cats that you can make money on just one stock as it goes up and down. If SHFL broke 25 convincingly, we would have sold our Calls at a loss and bought Puts....there were a few days that I thought this was going to happen.
The important thing is that we had a plan to profit in place regardless of what the stock did.
Cats,
We finally got a few up days on SHFL. The calls are trading at 2.75 x 2.80 this morning. Our cost was 2.20. So theoretically i would put a stop limit order in at 2.65 which would give us a secure 20% profit. If it continues up, I would keep raising my stop.

Blasher,
Sorry about your loss. I agree with you about other stocks. I am finding the spread to be too far apart and the liquidity is good some days and bad others.
S2
What do make of the volume on GFI the last two days?
Bottom?
<
Didn't get my 1.15 yesterday, so took small profit this morning on bounce.
Out of Calls for .05 = 2%
Almost joined you on AKAM this morning, but think I'll just play it safe until FED is over and GOOG has reported.
Put in a sell order on calls @ 1.15
We'll see if it gets hit today. I think today and tomorrow will be pretty whippy with FED meeting and Goog reporting tomorrow.
Look at DGX, those would have been SWEET calls to buy on Friday.
Good luck Blasher!
I think you played it perfectly.
Out of my MAR 44 Puts this morning for 9%
In MAR 44 Calls @ 1.00
Holding QQQQ Put Leaps for long term
Ken,
I'm really looking forward to this feature on the website.
Out of my calls this morning for .05
Holding Puts
Can someone tell me what the Mar 44 Puts closed at?
At work now.
Thanks
Holding both March 44 calls and puts right now.
Playing it both ways.
lpdcb
Please remind me what COA is.
Thanks
Greedy--> ME TOO!!
I could have sold my calls before the sell off at even or squeak by with a tiny profit.
Sold yesterday morning with a loss, but luckily before the Qs went down hard. I probably should have just held for the bounce we will most likely get next week.
Cats/SHFL
I haven't forgotten our pretend buy on SHFL FEB 25 Calls @ 2.20.
The calls closed up today @ $2.30, so we are up 10 cents from our buy. SHFL got close to closing below 25 a few days but held steady and now seems to be heading back up. Well see if there is follow through next week.
Ken,
Yes I may see if it pops up a little next week to get in,
I'm just teasing you.
Well, you could have made 11% with June Puts on the gap down this morning and 25% on March Puts.
Wish I would have known your thoughts on WIT earlier Ken, LOL :)
Good job Blasher!!
Way to go!
I am kicking myself!!!
Saw that CTX missed the Qtr on slow housing this morning and I didn't buy Puts. Stock is down -1.70. UGH!
QQQQ March 45 Put @ 1.10
Out 1.15 = 4.5%
Not quite 5%, but I'll take it.
Bot QQQQ March 45 Put @ 1.10
Put in sell order for 1.15
we'll see if it gets hit.
Still holding Feb calls
Blasher this should be interesting. Please post your trades for us to watch. I saw that SUNW broke out yesterday from a long base.
My 45 Feb Calls are almost back to even. we'll see if I can squeak by with a profit.
Yes Blasher, keep you eye on the long term goal.
I'm falling in love with your 5% a week because it is attainable with my work schedule. It gives me a lot of hope.
Thanks for sharing.
Sorry about the loss today Blasher. You'll make it up!
I almost bought calls yesterday at support when i sold my puts. I sat here today kicking myself as I watched the Qs go up.
Bought some long term Puts today Jan 2008 45s
Still holding some Feb 45 calls, playing both sides of the market. If these don't pan out, it's okay. I've made enough on puts recently to cover the cost.
5% a week, huh? Think I might try to join you
What a day!!!
I was down pretty good this morning, but the market tanking helped me out.
FEB 44 Puts @ 1.15
Out @ 1.65 = 43% gain
Feb 44 Puts @ 1.15
Out @ 1.65 = 43% gain
Great Job Blasher
WOW! I went to take my daughter to basketball practice and I come back to find the Qs tanking.
Yes I held, too much time before expiration not to.
Okay, Blasher how did you know that was going to happen???
Well at the close Friday i was up 15%, obviously I'm underwater now.
Note to self: Take the profit, take the profit, take the profit!
I am still holding my FEB 45 Calls, so I'm in between both positions. But there is a lot of time from Jan 3 to Feb expiration and a lot that can happen.
I think we will rally this week, but will possibly have a correction sometime in Jan.
Ken, thanks for the analysis. Ofcourse I would like SHFL to go up since we hypothetically bought calls, but if it doesn't it would probably be more realistic. This is just a lesson on how to make money on a stock no matter if it goes up or down.
I listed the Option on my original chart. I guess it didn't transfer over. sorry.
It would be the FEB 25 Calls @ 2.20
SHFL
This is a stock that Luciano asked me about concerning options. This is not a recommendation to buy. Let's follow the stock as an options lesson for anyone interested. If SHFL goes below support at 25, I would then sell the Calls and buy Puts.
This option will expire the third week in Feb, but you can sell any time.

Wonderbuy,
This is the first year I have done a lot of options trading. What do you use to fill out your Schedule D? I am trying to find something - possibly Gainskeeper- that will make it easy to give to my tax man. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Thanks Wonderbuy, love this chart you posted
