VETERANS DAY
Quote: (from falconer's post #129931)
I thought Dr. Gottlieb stated that there would be five released by the end of the year. See Jimmy667's post here.
I do not have any concern about near term pricing. My outlook is that Anavex will be a very successful company in the long term. I made a solid commitment over two years ago and continue to be extremely impressed with management and the science. I was just pointing out how the share price has been controlled so far. This will change in the near future IMO.
Your question regarding price prediction Monday would be more appropriately addressed to the shorting cabal and the market makers.
The answer should be similar to the parable of the wise old Himalayan.
..... the wise old man came down from the mountain into the village. The boy quickly caught a bird and cupping it out of sight in his hands, walked up to the wise old man and asked, “Old man, old man, what is it that I have in my hands?”
The wise old man said, “You have a bird, my son.” And he was right.
The boy then asked, “Old man, old man, tell me: Is the bird alive or is it dead?”
The wise old man looked at the boy, thought for a moment and said, “The bird is as you choose it to be.”
For you Anavex detractors, Dr. Gottlieb seems to disagree with you regarding starting trials by the end of the year.
Here is a portion of CkFacts post #128292 where he reports what Dr. Gottlieb stated in his address to the Press Club Thursday 11/3/17.
plexrec- It is Sunday right now on the other side of the International Dateline i.e. Australia, Vietnam,Japan,China etc. or he might have just simply "misspoken".
"We think differently and we have no fear" Dr. Missling's words spoken in Washington D.C when asked why can Anavex succeed where so many failed.
This was at the first meeting Dr. Missling had with a congressional committee in 2015. We will get a good glimpse of how their "different thinking" is progressing and where Anavex is heading in the near term.
Thank you for the response Peter.
I certainly have a misunderstanding of awarding a Nobel Prizes.
I remember a person getting awarded a Nobel Peace prize and they had hardly been seated in office.
I have absolutely no belief that politics does not enter into awarding many of the prizes.
If A2-73 proves out to be the molecule that it appears to be then there are a few people that should be considered for the award or possibly as a team. That would be Dr V. (can't remember original discoverer), Tom Skarpelos for buying and establishing Anavex Life Sciences and then donating personal shares to hire Dr. Missling. Dr. Missling has brought A2-73 and the rest of the pipeline to the state where we are currently, readying for major breakthrough and approvals hopefully.
Parkinsons Breakthrough ??? I saw this today. Something for our scientific members to review and brief the rest of us longs.

Parkinson’s Breakthrough!

Scientists in South Korea and Singapore are overturning three decades’ worth of knowledge about Parkinson’s and what causes it.
Up until now, scientists have thought that the cause of the lack of voluntary movement (which is one of the biggest characteristics of Parkinson’s) is low levels of dopamine. However, this no longer seems to be the case.
The basal ganglia regulates the body’s voluntary movement. This region of the brain basically shifts between getting instructions to allow movement, and getting instructions to suppress movement.
Well, researchers Daesoo Kim (South Korea) and George Augustine (Singapore) made use of the cutting-edge technology optogenetics to intensify the motor suppression instructions given to rats’ brains.
As Medical News Today states:
“However, they found that this made ventrolateral thalamic neurons – which are involved in motor control – hyperactive.
This hyperactivity seemed to cause muscular rigidity and contractions in the rodents – symptoms similar to the hallmark motor symptoms in Parkinson’s disease.
As the authors explain, this is the phenomenon called “rebound firing,” which seems to be triggered by intensifying inhibitory basal ganglia inputs.
Prof. Kim and team tested the role of this phenomenon by genetically engineering mice to lack dopamine and inhibiting rebound firing to see what effects it would have on Parkinson’s disease motor symptoms.
Rebound firing was inhibited by genetically interfering to reduce the number of ventrolateral thalamic neurons.”
SHOCKINGLY, THE MICE WITH EXTREMELY LOW LEVELS OF DOPAMINE – BUT NO REBOUND FIRING – SHOWED NO SYMPTOMS OF PARKINSON’S.
According to Kim and Augustine:
“In a low dopamine state,” the authors say, “the number of [ventrolateral thalamic] neurons showing post-inhibitory firing increases, while reducing the number of active [ventrolateral thalamic] neurons [by inhibiting basal ganglia] input, effectively prevents Parkinson disease-like motor symptoms.”
“Thus, [basal ganglia] inhibitory input generates excitatory motor signals in the thalamus and, in excess, promotes PD-like [Parkinson’s disease-like] motor abnormalities,” they conclude.
“THIS STUDY,” SAYS PROF. DAESOO KIM, AS HE COMMENTS ON THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE FINDINGS, “OVERTURNS THREE DECADES OF CONSENSUS ON THE PROVENANCE OF PARKINSONIAN SYMPTOMS.”
First study author Dr. Jeongjin Kim says, “The therapeutic implications of this study for the treatment of Parkinsonian symptoms are profound. It may soon become possible to remedy movement disorders without using L-Dopa, a precursor to dopamine.”
These findings offer significant breakthroughs in the understanding of Parkinson’s disease and the way it comes to form in the body.
Through this study, researchers now have a far greater understanding of how the brain typically controls the body’s movement, and how Parkinson’s disease affects this control.
Polarbear you have attempted to illuminate the great losses that might result to many BP (i.e. Post #126586) if and when AVXL proves successful.
I think it is possible that these folks that keep beating the lack of positive share price movement are either soft bashers or may never fully understand real world business.
There are billions of dollars and thousands of jobs at stake and BP will do everything to try to protect it as you and others have tried to point out.
Thank you for all of your good effort on this board. My only complaint might be that you don't leave much room for other "stickies"
I saw it then check a moment ago and it wasn't there.

He ended purchases on FRIDAY THE 13TH to give the shorters their message.
(Humerous speculation only)
This seems to be a rather dark response to Grassy Knoll's valid point.
I am in sympathy with him regarding the condition he has encountered due to FDA's slow action to approve a drug that might have prevented this.

I have seen a number of people state that they don't have PM priviledges
from time to time. If their response can wait until Friday, this is a chance to do so.

Attilla, thanks for the response. I presumed that that was your probable method. Nice work.
I am not really concerned about the price on December 25th.
I am of the opinion that my children will be very happy at Christmases for many years down the road. GLTAL

I think we will see that Missling bought today at $4.81.
Yet the Form 4 was not accepted by SEC until 20:49:50.
I am curious to know where you got that information.
(While you are at it what is the SP going to be on December 25th? )

Polarbear - these large option awards began long before May 2017.
Here is a post of my suspicions in the summer and fall of 2016.
Note that these awards were made one month earlier than the normal quarterly schedule and just two days before the announcement of the MTA to Biogen.

Why did Dr. Missling get 500,000 options awarded in Sept. in addition to all of the others ?
I believe it is because the BOD who has all of the solid information of what is occurring behind the scenes that no one else has at this time except maybe Biogen.
Here is an earlier post of mine that gives me peace of mind.

HINTS! We are all aware of Dr. Missling's series of 1000 share buys prior to 2015 CTAD. Here is a listing of Anavex's SEC 8K filings that has served as more than just hints to me.
7/5/2013 - Dr. Missling's first contact for three years
7/5/16 - First amendment to his contract to extend employment for three
years. This provided a large salary raise and many options to be
vested over the three year period.
7/7/16 - Clarification of options plus an addition of the following
"UPON A CHANGE OF CONTROL ALL PREVIOUSLY GRANTED BUT UNVESTED
OPTIONS SHALL VEST"
7/22/16 - Further clarifications of options.
Here is the listing of the quantity and dates of options granted to the granted to the BOD on FORM 4s
-------------- 7/16/16 -------- 9/22/16
Bernd --------50,000---------100,000
Favus -------- 1,500-------- 100,000
Skarpelos --- 50,000---------100,000
Missling---------------------500,000 (In addition to contract options)
Boenisch---------------------106,696
Thomas----------------------100,000
9/28/16 MTA to Biogen filed with the SEC.
????? QUIET PERIOD ?????
I have a feeling that the BOD has all of the information they need and I'll rely on that.
The new hires and their exceptional qualifications and backgrounds.
Mydaze - "WE KNOW WHAT WE ARE DOING AND HAVE NO FEAR" Has Missling been sure of this from very early on and could this be the reason he would make this statement at his first meeting with Congress in December 2015.
Bas - here is a copy of my post 12/2/16 where I speculated on partnership or merger. Note that all of these options were awarded one month earlier (on 9/22/16 instead of 10/??/16) than the normal quarterly schedule which was one week before the MTA with Biogen was filed. I am not aware of any similar awards like this since that time.

Here is an Bloomberg article about Biogen.
Biogen’s CEO Is Out After Management Changes, Stalled Sales
by Doni Bloomfield

George Scangos to leave in ‘coming months’; search beginning
Adjusted earnings beat estimates; share buyback announced
George Scangos. Photographer: David Paul Morris/Bloomberg
Biogen Inc. Chief Executive Officer George Scangos, who helped build the U.S. drugmaker into a powerful player in multiple sclerosis treatments, will leave the company after a series of top managers were replaced and sales of its biggest product stalled.
Scangos, 68, will stay on until a replacement is found, Biogen said in a statement Thursday in which it also reported second-quarter earnings. In the last year, the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based company announced new heads of sales and research, and its biggest product, the multiple sclerosis pill Tecfidera, disappointed investors.
His departure wasn’t a shock, given the company’s recent performance, Michael Yee, an analyst with RBC Capital Markets Corp., said by e-mail. “This is one where people thought there could be change given all that has gone on in the past year or so. The company’s next leader will face many of the same challenges that Scangos did in recent years -- how to advance the research and development pipeline of a storied biotechnology company that has made big, risky bets in diseases like Alzheimer’s, with mixed results. They’ll also need to boost sales of current products, which have surprised investors -- for good and bad -- in the competitive multiple sclerosis market.
Biogen will likely look outside the company for a new chief, according to Geoffrey Porges, an analyst at Leerink Partners.
Swooping In
“I imagine what they’re looking for is someone who’s already running a smaller company or has a track record of leading an integrated business unit focused on the neurosciences,” he said. Biogen has said it plans to concentrate on neurological drugs, and is working to spin off its treatments for the blood-clotting disorder hemophilia as a separate public company.
(My emphasis here.)
Amateur - where is Axovant's Strategic Advisory Board? I have been unable to locate it to compare with Anavex's board. I am curious where they are getting the advisory expertise to have those ten posters.
Steady_T posted this Monday. I did a little background since I was not familiar with Patrick Cox and Transformational Technologies.
It looks like they have a very large following and should bring in some very solid buyers by mentioning that he owns AVXL. Thanks for posting it>
Help me encourage Sliceanddice to submit his Post #108606 for publication on Seeking Alpha.
There have been so many positive responses to it on this board. It would be an excellent counter to Adam and Cory and other bashers for the readership of Seeking Alpha imo.
Please encourage him.
Seeking Alpha NEEDS your article Sliceanddice. Please submit it ?
Missling was available for one on one. His very last statement was "I will be available in the breakout room, thank you very much" or something to that effect
Questionable after market reports on ipad APP.
I have the "Stock Master" APP loaded on my ipad and have noticed discrepancies in the 'after market' prices quoted continually. Examples this morning comparing to NASDAQ quotes are shown here.
AVXL (-0.37) on APP vs 0.00 on NASDAQ
Stock Ax (+0.24) on APP vs 0.00 on NASDAQ
Stock Nt (+0.91) on APP vs 0.00 on NASDAQ
There no doubt are other examples of this type reporting but I am very familiar with the comparisons of AVXL and these two.
Other stocks seem to be reported accurately but the stocks listed here always seem to show this type of discrepancy. It makes me wonder if there are there are some incentives for doing so.
Do you think it is a possibility that the reason for the preferred shares might have been to purchase Antabloc?
Jarrod is misleading people in his article (IMO) by referring to the Yahoo Forum as a good tool. It appears that the author may not be familiar with Investors Hub.
Paul Aisen is in fact on Anavex's SAB (to answer your rhetorical question). Here is the information posted on Anavex's SAB listing to refresh our memories.
"QUIET PERIOD" from wikipedia.
I would like to see resumes from these guys that complain about management. They are probably much better than Missling's and the BOD's. Maybe we could fire Missling and replace him with any one of these very qualified individuals.
That is kind of where I was but it didn't sound quite right to me so I asked for help. Thank you. We will know as soon as Dr. Missling has his next presentation.
Thank you Mike. I wasn't coming up with that pronunciation so that helped me a lot.
Yes, what an absolutely great addition to our gold star company.
..but Xena, I still don't know how Fadiran is pronounced.
It is interesting to read of the work ethic of those that come here and succeed.
How is Fadiran pronounced? I like to be accurate in pronouncing his name correctly when discussing him with others. TIA
I tried looking it up but could not find anything.
As a side comment, I can pronounce either RETT Syndrome or RHETT Butler of Gone With The Wind because they sound the same but I do know the difference between them. One is a character in a novel/movie and the other is a terrible disease that prayerfully Anavex will find a cure.
