Man….I tried all day to get more shares. Tried selling round the morning high, thinking to compound, no luck. Bit the bullet and transferred funds, trying to buy the mid-day low…. still no luck. (Sigh).
Slow day…. and no comments since before open?
I think that article about GE/Eos orders in german wasn't a falsehood…. just a leak. ;) In fact, I think when DDD went way down and explained the loss as being due to a missed, anticipated order from a large ( did they say aerospace?) company, that that was GE passing them over in favor of EOS. And the skeptical/conspiracy prone part of me thinks maybe GE's not quite definitive denial about that German article was a smoke screen so as to later acquire DDD on the cheap, down the line….but that would just be too devious…. lol. I do think EOS is going to get the majority of their early orders though. Until Metal FAB 1 becomes the next generation hot commodity. :)
I TOLD alan the navy wanted us…. ;)
I liked DEFORM (because my husband is a metallurgist and it made sense to me)… but I guess Contour is ok for the laypeople they'll present it to initially…
The key word is "qualifying" :) Music to my ears….
Except the desire of the DoD to 3D print parts on naval ships and aircraft carriers in the field which has been referenced WAY too many times to be a secret. haha.
If I were them, I would use part of it in a time where demand was so high (such as announcement of multimillion dollar contracts) it would not make as big of a dip. Remember it is an at the market offering… which means it goes right to the co's bank account…. that's how we quickly raise enough to uplist. It would allow much more freedom to expand/develop rapidly, and the positive effects of uplisting would far outweigh any temporary dilution in price, IMO, because we'd have a bunch of money and institutional investors could buy in in droves.
Nice! Lets hope it happens!
How is this not our patent? 2:30 pm – 2:55 pm
Additive Metals: State-of-the-Art in Process Monitoring and Safety Assurance
Zach Murphree PhD, Sales Engineer, Concept Laser Inc.
This presentation will highlight QMmeltpool 3D RT and QMmeltpool RT, which provide real-time in-situ monitoring of the meltpool intensity and shape to detect build aberrations as they occur, and to provide a virtual 3D CT scan of the built parts with unparalleled resolution. QMcoating RT provides closed-loop control of the recoater system to ensure a precise, even powder distribution in a specific area of interest, reducing powder usage and the occurrence of failed builds due to short-feeds. While the quality of the parts coming out of the machine is critical, operator safety is the single most important consideration. With this in mind, the presentation will also detail Concept Laser’s safety consciousness, including our adherence to ATEX guidelines for explosive atmospheres and our patented filter-change method that allows the filter to be passivated without ever removing the filter from an inerted environment.
Great find!! Looks like there's interest :)
Oh, it's all just bought and paid for…. They've been saying Stratasys, DDD, and XONE for years…. personally I always thought XONE was way too slow of a process and not going to make it. DDD started out in rinky dink plastics and I think it remains to be seen whether they'll successfully transition to industrial grade metals; I haven't kept up with SSYS for about a year so don't know what they're doing now, though I know their price is way down- to me EOS, Additive Industries, Materialise, and (I hope!) SGLB are more likely in terms of additive MANUFACTURING…. I mean if the METALFAB1 machine does what it says it can, the SSYS, DDD and XONE are going to be obsolete pretty quickly unless they can adapt. If you look at the brands of the machines GE/Morris has, I think the lay of the land becomes pretty clear. All IMO, of course.
That is a very interesting point.
Except that time he did name us directly…. on his conference call Q&A…. because the Sigmaniacs were hounding him….;)
Between you and Z- this is a great way to start my morning!
Lol yeah I remember that one…. back when GE was still claiming to be developing our stuff and tossing IPQA around all willy nilly… (Good job Mark on the registered trademark) ;) hehehe
Would they be allowed to, though, with non-disclosure agreements? I really don't know how that works.
I don't really foresee GE making an announcement about PrintRite ever unless the announcement would somehow add value to them. Most companies don't announce the nuts and bolts of their supply chain or QA process. If Sigma were already a household name as like the gold standard, maybe they would, but personally I think the revenues will just show up one day…. like Q2 of next year, with as slow as they are to pay out, lol. Like, a company doesn't just announce we are going to ship x thousand runs via such n such trucking line, or use this particular company to make our subassemblies…. unless it's something important like a specific well known type of engine that would sound appealing to customers/shareholders, if that makes sense. People thinking GE is going to say 'our parts are PrintRite certified!' in the near future are dreaming… all that would do is boost OUR share price- which is counterintuitive (because GE is always scheming to gobble things up). Doesn't mean they wouldn't use us…. I just think they'll be quiet about it. However…. if someone (like Honeywell or Additive Industries who gets suddenly popular with MetalFab1) starts touting us as the next big thing gold standard (as part of THEIR competitive edge) I do think GE would follow suit, but only because someone forced their hand. My two cents.
Z- I can't PM but it looks like the business side is in Cincy and the manufacturing is in Evendale (outside Cincy) based on these recent job posts. http://www.indeed.com/q-GE-Aviation-l-Evendale,-OH-jobs.html … Morris definitely worked in Cincy a year and a half ago because he had to go back for a meeting when we met him; I think he floats around a lot generally though!
Didn't Mark mention it in the conference call? I was under the impression it's being released concurrently, or close to it… but maybe I just thought that because of the PR….
Heck yeah!! There's some confirmation for you :) wonder what ol al' thinks about that...
This:
Awesome response-- well done!
How many times have you had to install a Windows or Apple update after buying new software? People sell software. Bugs happen. Companies provide ongoing support to fix it. The Early Adopter program functions the exact same way. I don't see what it so unreasonable about it.
Isn't this why they chose to do the Early Adopter Program in the first place? To integrate the product and provide guaranteed ongoing support, to bring it to market faster/obtain feedback from a number of adopters and issue upgrades over the coming year? You know… like when Apple issues a new software platform….bugs appear... and they send out patches/updates?
You said this so much better…. Thanks!!
Next generation being from Additive Industries…with our tech inside ! ;)
Anyone else see (MORE TO FOLLOW) under Chris Witty's signature? It shows up on the PR when I pull it up on E-Trade next to "Dow Jones Newswires".
I don't see them being taken private at all…. I think if they were going to get bought they'd have done it already. Supposedly GE broached the subject two years ago but Mark said they 'didn't know how to value them' -- and that was before they hedged their bets with Honeywell and overseas companies…. I don't think they have any intention of getting bought out. One of their big selling points is that they provide independent, 3rd party verification that parts are good. IF they did- it would be at an exorbitant rate…. I just don't see Mark and Vivek wanting to be just faces in the crowd at one of these large multinational corporations-- two on a team of hundreds of engineers. I think they like controlling their own destinies.
I expect EOD rally
I think it sounds about right….. I mean the time frame they're talking about is only a few years. We are still at the beginning of this AM revolution. To compare it to the Industrial Revolution…. I think of the last few decades like the Newcomen Engine….. we're just about at James Watt's 'steam engine' status- which was used in production everywhere but even as useful as it was, it took years to be fully integrated into manufacturing. Change was incremental, as individual companies adopted it bit by bit. 5 years is one thing- and I think that's a solid, conservative # in the near term….. but think about the growth projections in 10, 15, 20 years as AM becomes more and more widespread in production….. We're talking exponential increases for a really long time. Can you imagine investing in some steam engine technology (or even component) in say, the 1770s/80s?
FYI the hype was with regards to the link I replied to, not today's Press Release- which is AWESOME.
I'm inclined to think this is just hype…. not to say we won't eventually print many many different materials…. but this is just another of those college prototypes. This part tells me it's nothing to concern ourselves with:
Whoa- I totally missed that quote before! Got goosebumps!
Yes-- totally thought of that. haha.
SGLB- always when you least expect…. lol
It does look updated, but B6's news page is still way outdated. The first thing showing is 2012….
Would that be like our 'Thermal' ?
The treasurer we use is a consultant. She is a regular CPA with her own business and does not work full time for the company. https://www.linkedin.com/pub/monica-yaple/16/9b0/bb
The investigations are of the company whose shell Knowledge Machine International (Vivek Dave's other venture with the Allotrope guy) bought-- my understanding is that Songbird was crooked; which is why they were super cheap to buy and change names… much like when Sigma bought the cheap shell of Framewaves and changed its name. It is a cheaper and faster way of becoming a publicly traded company- as opposed to doing everything from scratch. Nothing shady to do with Vivek that I've seen. KNMX is not a subsidiary of us whatsoever … we do have a licensing agreement with Allotrope for our ARMS and BAM technology- and one of Vivek's first acts with Knowledge Machine was to obtain a further stake in Allotrope's share of any profit that results from it-- but SGLB would still get their original cut. If that makes sense.
