Orocobre's March production numbers will be ready for review in three days.
The way the stock is starting to react I would say someone has figured out that they will probably be pretty good.
Welcome to Orocobre's Australian board. I will be posting articles directly from Australia financial markets and other countries that affect Orocobre. Because they have not registered with the US markets to release press information all of the 'real' information is through Australian and foreign press. Hopefully you are already on board here and have your stock in hand :) This is going to be at least a 3-5 year ride. Don't ask me what I think the stock will be valued at in 5 years because the answer might shock you.
My recent trip to Shanghai allowed me to meet a principle in Galaxy and get a better feel for the attitude and competence. I was impressed....they have thought through this debt reduction...and the Mt. Catlian project is open and ready no ramp up. Just waiting for General Mining to finish setting up. As far as I can tell this is not a greedy conglomerate. They are well organized and acutely aware of the world market for lithium. I think we will see the actual deliveries to Mitsubishi start early summer.
Tse said there was a fairly large stockpile of raw material waiting to be loaded. So as General Mining is ramping for full production we are shipping the 'on the ground' lithium and tantalum material almost immediately. Their association with Jiangsu will help quite a bit with the established list of prior customers for lithium. As supply tightens pricing will expand. Already some crazy numbers popping up in China for lithium. If you spent any time in the Chinese cities you would understand why the Chinese government is taken 'electrification' quite seriously. They don't want to be dependent on the mid-east or us for oil and gas. Hopefully the idiot squad doesn't try and take this board away as well.
Orocobre is three days away from the end of March numbers. I think the stock is starting to reflect the plant production...just a guess.
They wanted to take it away so I let them have it....kind of like a couple of bar flies following the smell of alcohol...lol
I think one of the big drivers is that Geologic Partners did not want to/cannot put in more money hence the need for the $15m cash to go back to the parent.
Bud...the books on this merger are available if you want them...lot of unanswered questions. Let me know if your SQM associates are in Argentina.
Should be an interesting summer with the local government negotiating with the SQM boys. JEMSE is kind of like having to pay your brother not to sabotage your operation.
Regarding this SQM deal....I do not understand this deal to be honest.
There is no mention of how the JV is to be managed. There is no mention of the JEMSE’s 8.5%. There is no discussion of future debt funding from SQM (if any). It is very short on details and the contract will need to be read on SEDAR.
I think one of the big drivers is that Geologic Partners did not want to/cannot put in more money hence the need for the $15m cash to go back to the parent. My guess is that the POSCO deal was not that attractive and time/money had run out.
It is a cheap entry for SQM. The asset is good and allows SQM to diversify out of Chile. It may also put pressure on Chile government to resolve issues.
Seem to be a lot of children that are in charge of these boards so I doubt you will have my posts to read in the near future. They figured out a way to kick me off the Orocobre board which was basically 'my board'. I'm the one that brought the stock to most people's attention...and I am sure they will come after me on this board before long...
In the meantime I will post Orocobre and Galaxy information here. First...
thanks for the video link Bahili...sorry got the spelling wrong. That was a nice presentation in Switzerland.
Orocobre will be releasing the March numbers any day now and I would expect that production numbers have improved. Next stop will be somewhere in the $2.30 range I believe.
The key elements of this agreement are...let's say 'self enriching' for company executives.
SQM's contribution includes US$15 million to repay intercompany loans between Minera Exar and LAC; the remaining US$10 million will be allocated to project development. SQM and LAC intend to immediately advance a work and engineering plan, which contemplates completion of an updated definitive feasibility study based on an existing study for Cauchari that was completed by Minera Exar in 2012. The updated study will evaluate economic feasibility for a project with a nameplate production capacity of approximately 40,000 metric tons per year of lithium carbonate equivalent. Depending on the results of the study, the project may be executed in stages.
I'm sure anyone who is holding the stock will be happy about the liftoff tomorrow...and I'm pretty sure it will continue for a couple of days. btw sorry you sold early Overlord...otherwise you could have made some money tomorrow.
However...I'm a little disappointed that all of the talk and gnashing of teeth over the past 6 months about how wonderful the partnership with POSCO was and how it was the end all for Western Lithium and Lithium Americas. Now we have a new player SQM. Granted they are a major player and have mining interests a few hundred miles away in Chile. Makes me a little reluctant to go overboard with enthusiasm.
The drawback for shareholders is they only paid $25 million for their interest....and Lithium Americas has to do the site work, engineering, and create and design a new processing plant. That is going to cost at least $25 million. So who is going to build the processing facility? SQM of course. Did Lithium Americas get SQM stock in the transaction? NO....
So you may be asking yourself..."Who does this benefit?" Well....the insiders who are holding most of Lithium Americas shares while they are sold to the public this week. I'm sure Jay must be happy to be able to sell all of his shares now that he is no longer considered and 'insider'
Jay told me the reason he was leaving was because there were better opportunities in the industry with the expansion moving forward. He did not feel that staying with this company offered the best opportunities.
Overlord....I saw that Lithium Australia was testing their new technology near the Galaxy claim at Mt. Caitlin in Australia. It will be interesting to see if the technology actually works out.
btw do you think this issue about Lithium Americas mineral rights and mining permits will be affected negatively by this latest revelation?
In early March, Walter Barrionuevo, the Governor of Jujuy Province in Argentina, issued Decreto 7592 which changed existing laws for all existing and pending lithium projects. From now on in Jujuy, a ‘special expert commission” will review all projects. Lithium Americas, however, believes the market overreacted to the possibility of troubles at Cauchari-Olaroz, pointing out that exploration and development permit applications were approved in late 2009 even if the paperwork is not current. The Company is currently working on the environmental baseline and has confirmed that new legislation should not effect the current development program at Cauchari-Olaroz, but is expected to increase the requirements for the final exploitation permit that will be requested once the final feasibility study is completed and presented to the Government as it is mandatory under the Argentinean law”. - See more at: http://www.miningfeeds.com/
I will be posting the new symbol here for Lithium Americas ....I realize they have problems with their permits in Argentina but they say they will work things out....maybe?

I'm really flattered that you guys have taken such an interest in Orocobre as of late. I appreciate you relieving me of the burden of trying monitor myself and my postings.....it's so difficult sometimes to separate the emotion of owning such a mercurial company from the intelligent steadfastness of my own knowledge. Now I have the time to concentrate on posting on other boards that need my attention. I think the photo of the guy shoveling salt into the dump truck was a stroke of genius....illustrating the hardworking locals on the salt plains of Jujuy.
Keep up the good work here and watch for the production numbers coming from the operation for March,,,,!!
Hasta la vista baby...
No Billy Western Lithium is now Lithium Americas. Go read the corporate release and the press releases and you will see that Lithium Americas is the surviving company not Western Lithium
This is an interesting article about the mining business and Orocobre

why don't you elaborate on why you feel this way with some factual info.
If I'm not mistaken....TD Ameritrade charges normal commissions for these trades.
well if you knew the story behind the company and it's new investors you might think differently.
If you believe in the rise of lithium and that the Chinese market is turning away from coal and fossil fuel (in order to breath)....then it is pretty hard to deny the potential here. Some of the principles in this company are also involved in the Chinese government.
Here is the wonder of this lithium operation. Something like and enigma wrapped in a solution. Watch and learn about the lithium processing business in Argentina and it's various aberrations.
I hope that we can find out all the pertinent information together.
I think this board could be a duplicate...but we'll hang in and relate all my research either way.
aahhh...once again into the breach. I'm thinking I have a lot to say on this company so I should get in here early and get comfortable.
Sorry I left out the other companies that they are working with:
http://saxuming.net/works/mining-industry/
I'm not sure if that means they are lucky to be in such company...or if they are just another 'brick in the wall'.
What do you think Mr. Billy?
do you own any of this company John?
http://saxuming.net/proyectos_cat/mining/page/2/
there's your mining operation overlord....your skin gets dry at that altitude and the local unions are pretty stringent on the participating mining companies to get involved with the local populace. Not sure that after Jay's departure that there is anyone willing to work at 4,000 meters above sea level....except the local populace. They are preoccupied right now with some other projects as you can see from the list of companies with Saxum the engineering group of Minera Exar. Welcome to Argentina :)
I believe with the reorganization of LAC there is going to be some opportunities to understand the operation going forward if they execute on their plan with Minera Exar.
I think this company could accomplish some very meaningful things with the changes in the industry.
I would like to confer with management about their plans.
Very interesting company.
Not sure why you keep talking about this Orocobre after you instructed everyone to concentrate on talking about Western Lithium here? Don't you have to abide by your own rules? Or are you special?
My DD on Western Lithium goes far beyond most people because I have been investing in lithium miners and processors for several years. For example in the summer of 2013 when you arrived at this board we were already fully invested in Western Lithium and talking quite frequently with Jay the CEO at the time about his plans for Nevada. As the first plans were stalled because of the Bureau of Mines....Jay decided to look into the drilling mud business to offset expenses while they played with the German experimental processor. Unfortunately that machine has not proven very successful at processing lithium from the hectatone clay. Now if you go back and review my posts from a couple of years ago you will see I was quite enthusiastic about Western Lithium at that time.
However...it became quite clear after awhile that the original plans for Nevada would not be possible because of the high costs of trying to create a lithium processing plant there. When this reality finally sunk in....the POSCO venture was hatched as a way to salvage the hopeful supply chain for Tesla's new plant. Unfortunately while this POSCO experiment was being put in place Tesla made deals with the other lithium processors in spite of Jay's purported college relationship with Elon. So...as you can see the long and winding road to lithium riches has been paved with hopeful plans that went unexecuted. In spite of the failure to achieve their goals in the lithium business we have a very hopeful crew at this site that continues to promote the future of Western Lithium in hopes of finally turning the proverbial corner one day. I am all for it...as infinitesimal as that may seem now.
I understand your point overlord. When you lose everything in WLCDF you will still have a strong portfolio. That's a smart move to be invested in higher priced stocks. I thought a few years ago that Western Lithium had really hit the nail on the head. The summer of 2013 I believe myself and bud had invested quite a bit in WLC. Jay was running things at the time and the future looked very good for lithium.
The problems starting to arise when the mining permits were delayed because of the Bureau of Mines requirements that Western Lithium couldn't accommodate at the time. One thing led to another and the company ended up as a drilling mud company with aspirations to produce lithium carbonate or hydroxide for the proposed Tesla plant. Unfortunately Tesla made deals with Bacanora Minerals to supply their lithium needs....and then they made a second deal with Pure Energy to be a supplier. This kind of left Western Lithium out of the supply loop. They are still trying to bring a 'beta' project online in Germany after two years to help refine the Nevada clay into usable lithium The unfortunate part of that is the experimental machine keeps choking on the clay and breaking down. As a result they decided to talk to POSCO which has an experimental plant operating in Argentina. To date...no useful production has been fulfilled.
It would be pretty safe to say that to date the POSCO experiment is just that...irrespective of how one chooses to characterize it. Facts are facts and Western Lithium so far has shown no revenue from anything associated with lithium to date. Why some keep alluding to these great breakthroughs that WLC is going to have...but the reality is so far they have managed to put a drilling mud company together in Nevada at the very moment the oil business crashed. So in the infinite wisdom about Western Lithium's future in Argentina and Nevada there is no concrete evidence of any lithium production in either of those locales with Western Lithiums name on them. If anyone here knows of some lithium carbonate or hydroxide that WLC has processed for sale I am all ears.....
This link will give you an idea about the rising price of lithium...
http://www.asianmetal.com/news/getProductsNewsEn.am?productThreeID=39
well...don't hurt yourself thinking about it. According to WLC their expected date for having a lithium processing operation setup is 2019. That's a few years away...and the POSCO deal isn't much more than an experimental processing plant in Argentina with a paper deal to use some of Lithium Americas land leases there. If the POSCO experiment turns out to produce any volume...there are many other land leases available in that area of Argentina that 'don't' include a partnership with WLC or anyone else. POSCO has said as much at their press announcements that they will be working with several mining operations to license their technology.
Personally...I'm going to stick to companies that produce lithium carbonate the old fashioned way. So far...that is the process that works. We've been waiting for 2 years for the German processing technology to arrive...but for one reason or another...just more talk and press releases.
All that sounds good in theory man...but to date they haven't produced enough to fill a dump truck. They have been talking about this process of theirs for quite sometime...while Abermarle, FMC, etc continue to process lithium carbonate the old fashioned way out of brine. Let's wait and see what POSCO 'actually produces' before we go running off announcing to the world that they are the new Einstein of lithium production.... :)
Well...overlord...the problem in Argentina has been the inefficient supply chain. It's not just Orocobre that was affected. All of the mining operations there in the Jujuy area have had supply problems over the past few years because of the governments import/export restrictions....and the remoteness of that area in the country. It's like shipping stuff to Alaska from the US mainland. It's been difficult to get the supply chain working correctly. I think with the election of Macri as president that those things will change and miners will find it much easier to do business there. Besides, how can anyone badmouth Orocobre for trying to open a new operation there. They had the insight years ago that lithium was going to be in demand worldwide. As you can see from WLC's predictions of having a lithium processing plant open by 2019 that it isn't the easiest undertaking. Otherwise they would try to open sooner with the price of lithium pushing towards $10,000 a ton....wouldn't you think?
