PR/IR firms: In researching some OTC & pinksheet deals recently I have come across several PR/IR firms with nice websites, lacking in any information about the principals of the firm. This to me is an immediate RED FLAG.
Can you imagine if these firms were held to a standard that included verifying the actual existence of the information they present to you on behalf of their clients.
File that away in your DD toolkit.
abh3vt: From what I know, they have tightened up the rules on Blank Check deals. Basically they have to return the money to investors within 2 years if they can't put a deal together. If the group behind the deal is a known entity then you have a good shot at a winner. NHRX was such a deal and it performed well until the underlying business went to hell.
I like shell deals if they are clean. My favorite is CFSG. From nothing to NASDAQ in a heartbeat.
Another one that I follow P D N L is setting itself up for a pure pump and dump. A sleazy group is involved with that one.
CXTI: Nelson,
First, always look at the history of the shell.
* Formerly=Leopard Capital, Inc. until 4-04
* Formerly=Canadian Northern Lites, Inc. until 12-00
* Note=7-00 State of Incorporation Texas changed to Nevada
* Formerly=Unimex Transnational Consultants Inc. until 5-96
See how many times the shell has been flipped. Usually legit buyers don't hook up with serial shell pumpers.
Second, I am wary of OTCBB Chinese companies with huge quickly produced revenue streams and no move to NASDAQ or AMEX where the exchanges would do some DD on them prior to listing approval.
What has happened to the notion of:
Separation of
Church &
State?
How can you say "That's a damn good idea!" ?
Len, the only fault I can find in your post, not that I was looking was: "FED unexpectedly lowered rates 50 basis points". This was not unexpected, at least not by Brinkerites.
But it is a firm confirmation of a weak economy.
Now that Dick C's private army "Blackwater" has been banned from IRAQ, they will have to hire all those people into a new company, maybe called "Backwater" or "Bloodriver" and send them right back. I doubt if the planes even need to take off from the airport.
Of course if they do send them home, they will have to send more troops we don't have into IRAQ to cover the massive stealth army we have in country.
It is the only thing written on the internet that has proven to be false. Everything else you read is true, rest assured!
wall, you have been had sir! Urban legend attack. You've been plucked.
Len:
As much as I dislike abortion, your examples and any other thing you can come up with is in my opinion SECONDARY to the rights of a woman to decide what is best for her body. It may in your opinion be murder, but until the child leaves her body in a living viable state... she rules.

bleutigredancing:
Can you give me an idea on how you are defining "intelligence"?
The ability one has to learn and accumulate knowledge, then putting it to good use.
Also, how do you view the role of a teacher?
The teacher should be a guide on the journey of learning. Assessing the intelligence of the student and working with that to help them learn how to learn.
What do you believe the goal of education should be?
See role of teacher.
What are the chances of the above happening to the average student in the USA now, slim to none.
No Child left behind helps to create a situation where most children are actually left behind. Those crazy standardized tests prove only that the teacher can spoon feed the most basic useless crap to the majority of the students so they pass. For example last year my 5th grade son took the math assessment test on the first day of class. He got 100%, which is the test they use to determine if you know enough to pass 5th grade. Basically a wasted year, although they claim to give him more advanced work during the year, it was not much of a higher level.
Basically I agree with your post, you don't have to shape responses for me. LOL
bleutigredancing, Now wait a minute. I asked you to explain your statement. You then hit me with three questions, which I would be happy to answer after you expand upon your statement if you care to.
btw - I hope your health situation has improved... I remember your post awhile back.
bleutigredancing: How about explaining "Yes, education is not working, but not for the reasons nor in the way that most believe."
So far I have found that my children are usually more intelligent than the teachers. Which leads me to believe that the education they will get is secondary to other things like music lessons, etc.
UFOG: Did you read all the filings for UFOG? The very first filing told the whole story.
Will Lyons, the whole purpose of posting DD on your picks is to interest others in wanting to buy your picks.

Len: re: The greenSPANster:
I did not say shoot the man. He just went a few years beyond his prime (pun intended) rate. His understanding of mortgages in general was obviously way off the mark.
I stand by my position that he should just fade away from public scrutiny and take Bush/Dick with him.
dtt
littlefishl: Greenspan admitted that he did not see the subprime problem happening. He was also the idiot who advised people to go for the low rate teaser loans.
If he were to keep he mouth shut and pen capped, we would all benefit. He should have retired 5 years before he did.
nsomniyak challenge for PSL7
CFSG - I own this one. Company went from OTCBB to NASDAQ within a few months of application. NASDAQ does DD on the companies before acceptance and this adds a layer of respectability to China Fire Security Group. Both top & bottom line growth to date and company has confirmed guidance of $.53-.54 for 2007. So far they usually under promise and come in stronger. They have helped write the codes in China for fire safety, have done one acquisition and have mentioned they are seeking others. While not as cheap as it used to be it still has 20% or more upside this year. LOW FLOAT, the potential for low float madness is always present after a positive surprise earnings release. So far it seems that the Motley Fool community is driving the price higher.
GUFR - I own this one. Just had it's coming out party at the Roth Conference. Previously unknown to investment community. Major product is Bromine in China. They have done several acquisitions and are one of the few licensed producers in China. Has NASDAQ potential for 2008. Increasing income & bottom line profits.
CHSH - I don't own it, just started looking. Have not had the time to fully research this one. Profitable and unknown. My central theme is liking the unknown companies. Chinese people need shoes, not a great basis for an investment, but I am working on it.
CEDA - I don't own it. I like the company, don't really want to buy Barron Partners 16,238,724 shares however. Not sure how this will shake out with the planned reverse split and 20,000,000 blank check preferred. That is above my pay grade.
DPDW - I own this one. I still own shares but at this point they are effectively free as I took profits from purchases at much lower prices. I don't think this is the forum for me to pick apart the things I don't like here. I still think it goes higher.
EKCS - I own this one. Someday (I am getting tired of saying this) this will take off and not look back. Business with Lockheed & Raytheon should generate best revenue year ever in 2008. Profits hopefully come along with that package. Ultimately I think CEO will eventually retire and allow the company to go to the next level.
If not for Bob Brinker and his bullishness I would be loaded up on QID and would lighten up on my 10% invested stance.
Some people are loath to have their name (anonymously) associated with a losing percentage. Ego deflating I guess.
I hold no such illusions, throw a few darts .. will keep Lentinman from hounding you for the rest of your natural life. And I think he would do that.
He may have a way to do it after your dead.
Does it get any better than this? Always entertaining OJ.
OJ Simpson questioned over Vegas robbery
Mark Tran
Friday September 14, 2007
Guardian Unlimited
Police today questioned former American football star OJ Simpson about a break-in at a Las Vegas casino hotel room, involving sports memorabilia.
The break-in was reported at the Palace Station casino, an ageing property just west of the Las Vegas strip, late last night, police said.
Simpson was released and is believed to be in Las Vegas.
"We don't believe he's going anywhere," a police spokesman said.
Simpson had been scheduled to give a deposition in Miami in a bankruptcy case involving his eldest daughter.
Booty for the rich. I would advocate higher taxes for the rich with an incentivized plan that lowers the taxes based upon the return of capital to VERIFIED US BASED business entities. No secret offshore anything allowed.
Currently too much money leaves America for foreign based business or outsourced business. It seems to be a brainer (don't like the term no brainer except when used with Bush) that the ultra wealthy would be pleased with the tax break and it would help out the USA.
motley fool today:
Tiny China Fire & Security, for example, is just a $250 million company, yet it's helping the government write new industrial fire codes and winning big contracts from giants such as PetroChina (NYSE: PTR), Wuhan Iron & Steel, and Handan Iron & Steel as they build out infrastructure in the west. Multinationals such as Honeywell (NYSE: HON) and Tyco (NYSE: TYC) simply don't have the same connections.
That's a big advantage for a small company to have, and it's an advantage unique to Chinese firms operating in China.
CFSG: New all time high today. $9.83 ... Came back from a JLF inspired sell off of stock in recent months (just a guess). Had bottomed @ $6.02 .
Confirmed guidance of $.53-$.54 per share 2007. They seem to under promise and over perform so far.
teflon, wife cooking, driving me to work? None of that ever happened to me. LOL
Any questions? Gentlemen start your engines...
Do you mean that ladies are not allowed to participate? Ball-Breaking?
LOL - There must be at least one Lady willing to mix it up.
Microwaves, there is a subject I am completely not familiar with. However according to my 2 minute research, the microwave up converts household voltage to 3000 volts which is a lot of juice. And the microwaves heat the food via friction.
I would go with the old electric popper as a more efficient way to make the corn pop. Of course it is one more appliance to be tossed into the dump when it breaks or is no longer wanted.
What happens when you put metal into salt water?
you rust um
http://www.rustumroy.com/ hard to believe that his name fits the science of it. He seems to be a well known legit scientist.
Other than my new skin defoliation energy generator, this would be second best.
Seriously I hope it works and we can stop with the fossil fuel crap.
Stanu: CXTI,
I feel bad for you, I am sure we have all done similar at some point.
Did you read my signature line, it says it all.
Good luck, hopefully it does a big bounce for you someday and greed does not get in the way of a SALE>
Sen. Craig Hails Progress in Iraq
Apparently all the mens rooms at the airport have been rebuilt and cleaned. He plans a trip to IRAQ before Sept 30th.
AS the US paused to remember Sept. 11 Tuesday, three federal judges in Philadelphia spent an hour reviewing a burning American cultural issue.
Should the judges revoke the $550,000 fine the FCC levied against CBS for Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction" during the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show?
--Daily Telegraph
I can't believe this is still going on. Weird.
OT Banjo:
Here is my favorite board on IHUB.. http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/board.asp?board_id=3251
for the most part everyone who posts offers up some great DD on stocks. It is a well run board with almost NO nonsense. If you read and filter the info you should do pretty well. The VMC board is a good place to ask questions about the financial's of companies.
CFSG is a unique situation in my portfolio because I was involved with starting the company that CFSG merged with. Therefore I am in at a very low price. I don't have any inside info nor am I in contact with current management so my opinion is based upon what is available to you or anyone else. They still appear to be undervalued on a P/E basis and still not widely followed. I don't think they are way undervalued here and if I was to buy I would buy a portion of my position to start and wait for a pullback if it comes. More often than not stocks do pull back. With a strong overall stock market I can see CFSG trading in the low teens for now. The do suffer from the general unease of Chinese companies not being as transparent as we would like. The growth of revenues and earnings has been great and if it continues the stock price should follow. I also like the very low float.
Most of my investing in the past few years has been in ETF's to lower the risk of individual stock blow ups. CFSG GUFR EKCS are a few of the exceptions.
Good luck to you..
You win, except it is above my current budget and I really don't like to fly if I can avoid it. Also my NBA contract does not allow me to pursue off court dangerous activities.
It seems to be something that won't get off the ground.
What to do with the waste?
The French have reprocessed power plant spent fuel rods at the COGEMA LaHague site since 1966. The French see reprocessing as ecologically sound, economical and profitable and as demonstrating scientific leadership on a world stage.
I am no expert on Nuclear, and I am afraid I would be a NIMBY. But at some point it will happen big time unless someone comes up with a superior technology. Some super form of solar or a realistic Wave generation machine or a I don't know?
The infamous Dr. Bill Watenberg on KGO radio in SF (also on internet) is always preaching Nuclear. As hard as it is to listen to him, he knows his subject.
Anyway, thanks for the intelligent conversation.
Long term fossil fuel reliance is insane. Coal although plentiful in the US is dirty. Nuclear power plant applications are on the rise and the industry is moving towards a standard design that is easily controlled and with safety measures that engineers won't be able to override. They claim it will be much safer.
I am not advocating the above, but if it comes to pass, then electric cars will be cheaply recharged and will not create the greenhouse problems, but they will leave a radioactive foot print.
If Nuclear is what it takes for America to get out of the Middle East debacle, then I venture to say that is where we are headed. It however takes leadership that gives more than lip service to the real issues facing this country. If it is Hillary or Huckabee or whomever, they will need the will and strength to overcome the Oil power barons in this country (obviously Dick C was part of that). That is usually met with intense political pressure or in the end a bullet to the brain.
Basically I reject your dismissing of electric cars as short sighted.
If you want to go electric, this would be the way to go. Can't wrap my brain around the price tag, but otherwise I would get one.

Did not get my answer as usual to the why don't they come and fight us here now while GI's are away.
Also why is the General a hero?
In 1991, Petraeus suffered an injury that his trauma surgeon described this way: "A soldier had fallen in a training exercise and his M-16 had live ammunition. It went off and from about 40 meters, Dave Petraeus had been shot in the chest." That trauma surgeon who operated on Petraeus was former Senate majority leader Bill Frist.
Might be other reasons, but I am tired of trying to find out.
Even us pink commie liberlistas have to worry!
BEIJING -
China's top cop said terrorism is the biggest threat at its Olympic Games, and a leading terror expert warned Tuesday that Beijing faces a long-term threat from an Islamic separatist group in its far west.
No, both sides attack and both sides have the right to do so. I don't recall complaining about that. I only recall complaining about why YOU need to do so on this board.
And tell me exactly why the General is a hero? Having a hard time finding that online. Also he was in charge of training IRAQI troops, etc. so we could stand down when they stood up. How is that working out?
The General will be the latest in a line of administration scape goats. Powell, Scooter, Rummie, Oneill , etc.
In America everyone has the right to criticize. Just because he is "hero", and all the other things you said, does not make him correct. I would have not expected him to say we are wasting our time, lets pull out. The military is trained to attack, that is why in theory it is controlled by the civilian population through the other branches of government that is supposed to represent the will of the people.
It was a catchy name, but it blurs the truth. Bush/Cheney have hurt America, not the General. For one $70K advertisement they have generated millions of dollars of publicity for the cause.
Right on brothers! Commune meeting at 8pm in the Mao Clubhouse.
