Samsung has a 20-25% market share in the U.S. compared to Nokia's less than 10%.. That is why Samsung will make its own decision as to IDCC's ITC Complaint, License 2G/3G..and leave Nokia to fend for its self in its legal fight with Qualcomm and InterDigital..

Perhaps Nokia and Samsung are planning to smuggle their handsets across the U.S./Mexico border on Mules..IMO:Both Nokia and Samsung will license 3G simultaneously..since neither want to lose U.S. market share to the other.
Doesn't mean anything without a Super Bowl victory.
Belichick = Nokia
Brady = Samsung
Moss = Sony-Ericsson
Giants = IDCC
Really..NOTHING..this board say's or discusses amount's to a proverbial "hill of beans" as far as the stockprice.
I agree. We have one poster here who has posted more than everyone else combined, and that poster is always very positive on IDCC. If posts could move the stock price, then the stock would be over 100 right now just based on that poster's posts.
I hope the ALJ listens to his staff. He didn't listen to them when they recommended against consolidation.
So NOK can appeal, and then appeal again? Ridiculous.

Support for us is a Tier 1 license.
The 4 largest manufacturers are not licensed. When Merritt said "we can take one more", I really hope that he wasn't saying that they will be satisfied with only licensing one of them. All four are infringing, and they all must pay!
He meant "We can take one more question."

Maybe WM keeps calling Samsung HQ, but they are afraid to pick up because they think it's law enforcement.
Really hope you guys beat those cheating Patriot SOBs.
OT: Again. Was Jessica in the stands? LOL!
Who picked the Under for the Packers game? LOL!

Just be glad that the SDNY and UK courts have already made their rulings. If we were still waiting on them, we might be approaching the tweens instead of the teens.
We need to let these companies know that the sooner they sign, the more of a discount will be available to them. We can't let Nokia sign in 2010 and still be willing to give them a 20% prepayment discount.
Jan 15 is a date artificially created by this Board, and its belief that the company is driven solely by RSU awards. Of course, while that may be true, a contract involves two parties, one of which may not be in that rush.
The company could say "If you sign by Jan 15, then we will give you a 20% prepayment discount, otherwise we will only give you a 10% prepayment discount."
The company did not say "by the end of the first quarter." They said "fourth quarter or early next year."

I'm wondering at what stage are the negotiations with those with whom we had reached the "economic stages".
What are the chances that IDCC wants to re-negotiate the rates now that a patent has been declared essential?
Market closes at 4 PM today. eom
I expect at least 2 licenses by end of January based upon CC comments. eom
That is why IDCC has Nokia and Samsung before the ITC and it allows IDCC to say they are beyond the economic stage of negotiations with S/E.
Merritt also said that those companies that are beyond the economic stage will be announced as licenses in Q4 or early 2008.
With each passing day, the closer we get to finding out which companies have finished economic discussions.
Eagles. Under.
Damn you nailed it exactly. 23.93 is the intraday high. eom
Thanks for your thoughts Loop. eom
Loop, I agree with most of your post except for this part:
I am going to go out on a limb and with tea leaves in my hair suggest to you that there has been an understanding or an agreement between IDCC and Nok formed in April, 2006 that a license would be entered into if Nok lost before Judge Pumphrey.
If that was true, then IDCC would not have initiated the ITC suit against NOK.
Enjoy the holidays, Loop.
Wasn't NOK trying to stay their ITC case? Hopefully the judge rules against them.
And I expect at least 2 new licenses before the end of January.
Going in opposite directions today:

I was wondering when they would do that. eom
And the one that Nokia withdrew its challenge of is probably one of these US patents:
1 7,106,720 Full-Text User equipment for detecting short codes
2 6,985,515 Full-Text Interference cancellation in a spread spectrum communication system
3 6,898,197 Full-Text Geolocation of a mobile terminal in a CDMA communication system

Anyone know which one it is?
Great news this morning.
2008 will be the breakout year for IDCC!
Jacksonville
So, in layman's terms: we win our case against Samsung.
Samsung appeals, we win.
Samsung appeals again?
Samsung would have to appeal to the Supreme Court, and they would most likely reject it because it is not of national significance. Unless of course the Appeals Court decides on sanctions for the frivolous appeal, in which case the Supreme Court might actually accept it.
Hope we get a license announcement this week. Because it's unlikely anything will happen next week. So it's either this week or next year.
