Hi Tom, Re: Oscillator,
There's no decription or graph up on top or sticky yellow that points me in the direction of the AIM Board Oscillator definition... What's it made of? What does + or - mean and when? etc... If I remember right isn't it a bit early in it's prediction? Or in other words if today's 3+ rating is a strong overbought, then the market usually takes a few days to catch up. Is that correct? Merry Christmas, Ken
Hi SF, re: History,
Here's the history about the merger that counts for me... From the press release...
"Xenith Bankshares, Inc. (f/k/a Hampton Roads Bankshares, Inc., the “Combined Company”), is the holding company for Xenith Bank, a full-service commercial bank headquartered in Richmond, Virginia.
On July 29, 2016, legacy Xenith Bankshares, Inc. (”XBKS”) and Hampton Roads Bankshares, Inc. (“HRB”), the holding company for The Bank of Hampton Roads (“BOHR”), announced the completion of a strategic merger whereby XBKS was merged with and into HRB and legacy Xenith Bank was merged with and into BOHR. The Combined Company has assumed the name Xenith Bankshares, Inc. for the holding company and the name Xenith Bank for all banking operations. Headquarters for the Combined Company are in Richmond, Virginia.
The strategic merger creates the fifth largest community bank by deposits headquartered in the Commonwealth of Virginia. We believe the Combined Company is now better able to leverage the strengths of the previous standalone entities to serve customers in its targeted markets."
Price action shows mid $1's up to mid $2's since July, with decent volume daily... But now the reverse spit will be this Tuesday and we'll go from there... Any price action you quoted from past years is not valid as it did not reflect these 2 merged banks... Needs to be apples to apples... Season's greetings, Ken
Hi SF, Re: "not likely",
Well the combining of the 2 banks into one does give it a bit more of a foot print. Question for me is will it still have the liquidity and volatility I need to stay active in it? Mid $20's usually not my price point either so I may move on. AI is one fantastic program and I've liked it from the day I bought it years ago. Don't know who your broker is online but surely they have a stock screener don't they? One of the best free ones around is "finviz", just click on screener at the top choices and pick your parameters. I'd say most of my picks lately are microcap, not smallcap, and yes one must be careful with liquidity, and lack bids available. Takes time to sift thru names one by one. Season's Greetings, Ken
Reverse Split XBKS,
My Xenith Bankshares, Inc. shares are going to do a reverse split next week. Looks like I'll wake up with 1/10th of what I own
next Tue morning before the market opens. Around 9am, about half hour before the open is when this appears to be taking place. Based on the price action it would appear the market views this favorably so far. Anybody ever have this happen? What was your experience?
Hi Allen,
Yes ROCAR is return on capital at risk... Automatic Investor program does all the calculations for me... Best regards, Ken
Hi Tom, Re: update

Can you put names to those faces? Was close to meeting Don Carlson before he passed away... Never did get together and I've always regretted not getting to meet him in person... He was from Chicagoland which isn't that far from here.... Best regards, Ken
Out mowing the lawn...
I missed a buy last week on LEE as I was out mowing the lawn. Today's drop in price re-opened that window so I stepped up and placed my order and bought some shares.
Hi Tom,

Hi Toof, run on a Apple,
I'm so backwards on this stuff I still have it on a Windows 98 machine. I don't know or I'm not sure, either Clive or Tom would have to answer that question... Hope it does and you get it going...
Hi Jon, Count = 5,
AIM1979 and you gets us up to five... Best regards, Ken
Hi Tom, Head Count on Newport
Let's see if we can get a head count going... Clive, Tom, and myself so there's 3 so far with working Newport... I still have and I use A.I., Automatic Investor, plus both my windows 7 machines have PCA, but Bill has shut that down in the past year or so and it doesn't work anymore. I believe I still have my original PCA CD disk too but I'd have to look for it... Best regards, Ken
Hi Tom, Newport, Myway, etc..
I have a old E-machines 333 with Windows 98 that I use to run Newport, Myway, EZ-Money, etc... Plus I run my old stock games on it too, Millionaire, Milionaire 2, etc... I still have my original Newport floppy disks, and several copies I made of them with the "year 2000" update thingy. Still have the priority mailer too.
Sell........
Had a sell on GORO hit the books right out of the gate this morning...
Hi Jon,
Thank you sir! I got a ways to go to catch up to you... Retirement has been awesome so far... Thanks, Ken
Hi Allen,
Thank you for the well wishes...
Hi Tom,
After some action the last week or so I'm squared up in about the middle of my Hold Zone at the moment. I'm 37% cash right now, so if I go up I'd consider a vealie and raise the portfolio control or maybe 50/50 adjustment. Just flipped my second Simplicity mower on Craigslist last evening, netted $185 cash. Stock flipping is a bit easier, I can stay inside with the air conditioning on... Thanks for the well wishes, our best to you and Jane too... Ken
35th Wedding Anniversary,
Today is our 35th Wedding Anniversary. Hope all is well with everyone on the AIM board. Thought I'd take a moment today and share what we do with some of the AIM gains as we buy low and sell high. Last year I bought us a sweet little Ford Ranger. Last Tuesday I bought us a new Honda Accord, and today our anniversary I took Pam out and let her buy all new living room furniture. AIM and all of it's derivatives used on this board has been a great help through the years. My 3rd year retirement anniversary comes up in one more week, and for Pam it's been 4+ years now.
Please share your stories of success, and post a little bit of what you all do with your "AIM" gains. Best wishes to everyone on the board, Ken and Pam
Hi Adam, Sell on GORO...
Had another sell on Goro at $6.23 after we headed out for lunch today. This is crazy... Not sure how far this can go... I think that's 5 sells in a row since July 27th or so... Thought about a vealie, but I was in "heavy handed", so I took the sale again today... About to buy this morning in the $5.70's.... got busy... came back and boom above $6.20 already...
Congrats Toof, Two Wheel Dolly
Congrats on your sales, I had another sell on GORO yesterday... I used the two wheel dolly this time to send them out the door...
Busy week.....
2 Buys and 3 Sells... Close to new yearly highs..
Hi Marv, Re: Retirement & Control,
Congrats on your retirement that's fantastic! My wife has been retired 4 years now, and I'll be 3 years retired next month. Glad to hear you have chosen AIM, and AIM like strategies to manage your funds. I too have the same software and it's quite handy to use. Welcome to the AIM board! There's lots of great people here with tons of experience. So join right in with all of us. Best regards...
Hi O, Sell on GORO,
Had a sell yesterday on my GORO holdings before the close. My high return year to date comes almost all from the gold sector. GORO has been a big winner for sure, along with the Lakeshore gold buyout and others. I've dropped, sold, KIQ, IGXT, LEE, and the others out my holdings... I was buying up way to many losers with the gold portfolio winnings, not too mention the lack of liquidity issues inherent in those shares... Just didn't feel right using the cash on losers when gold stocks would pull back and need the cash too... Also GPL got dropped as they decided to issue more shares to raise cash... I could be 100% plus in the junior golds year to date, but the losers held me down to just under 40%... Coulda, wouda, shouda, but I'm not complaining I'll take it... GORO hit $27-$28 back about 5 years ago too... $5.50 yesterday... Ya, I'd take that too... Grin
Vealie,
Congrats on the sell order Toof... I vealied up my PC this morning...
Sold 75%....
Sold 75% of my TGD this morning and put that money into GSS,GORO, and GPL... " SPREAD OUT!" as the 3 stooges would say...
Timmins Gold Corp. Ticker = TGD,
I bought a position this morning in Timmins Gold Corp, TGD... The Firebird rides again!!! Just shifted from 4th to 3rd gear and just punched it to the floor with TGD... Back butterfly now wide open on the 4 barrel carb!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! Go TGD! Playing with the house's money already... Happy July 4th to all on the board... Going to cookouts, festivals, car show and fireworks this weekend... I turn 59 next Wednesday, got golf scheduled too... Best to everyone on here...
Hi Alton & Allen,
I've used that type of strategy before in the regional banking sector... 3 of my top trades were in WIBC, FNFG, and most recently RF- Regions Financial this year... Look for a beaten down etf, then find the lowest price(more volatility) and lowest PE stocks in the bunch... Chances are the managers are going to rotate your way as they liquidate larger, more pricey PE holdings... RF not looking that bad at the moment, but I'd like another pull back into the $7's ... may not happen with the $640 mil buyback announced... Still 100% cash here, but RF is a favorite I'm looking at...
Toof,
Go to Finviz.com and up top click "screener" ... Punch in your parameters and let it search / filter for you... Firebird
Hi CanRay,
I had mentioned to Tom in a post about 3 weeks ago the action had dried up over here in the pocket change portfolio... Thanks for the congrats, that is a nice return for sure... I'm also down over 26% from my April highs though... Long story short, when I had wrote earlier in the month there wasn't much action over here, which in other words I'm saying liquidity was drying up fast in some of my lesser known stocks... I believe yesterday about 2pm-ish more than half of my original list from January had yet to trade one share, with fairly large bid/ ask gaps... I noted to myself a month ago, with liquidity gone, "Do I really want to build larger positions in my losers"? Ummmmmmm no I don't and I didn't... So with the run ups in my winners, I sold and then liquidated the losers too... Avg at Risk is skewed a bit as some of my bank holdings went over into margin a few months back... All in all a good ride and a interesting one... Now that I'm reset and reloaded I'll have to pick something else out of the pile... Just as a side note, the ten year breaking below 1.50% is insane, and there's talking heads on the tube saying we might see it under 1.00% by fall... Best regards, Ken
Update #7
Simple Return 34.19%... Rocar 41.51% .... Avg at Risk 82.36%... 21 Buys... 22 Sells... Annual % is 318.34% ... Off my highs from the last update... Currently 100% Cash ... 0% Stocks with a Sell today just before market closed... Best to all on the board...
Hi Tom... Action
Great to hear about you being back in some individual shares again. Congrats on those recent buys then sells. You're playing with the house's money right out of the gate! Things are dead over hear no trading for a couple weeks... Close to a sell twice, and close to a buy twice but never got the shot off... Speaking of ETF's, I really like OUSA and it's concepts... Best Regards, Ken
Hi Steve,
LEE keeping me busy over here... Hit $2.43 on Monday and was sitting at $1.95 a minute ago... Swinging for the fences now, Grin... Ooops... Now $1.8801... Time to buy'em back... Profit from your ideas!
