Long may crude 101.17
Sold YM + 21 at 71.
Sold ES 96 +2, LTBH of a few bars.
I got your contract, L ES 94.
L YM 11950
Surely your joking Mr Feynman was a good one. I once tried to go thru the lectures on physics, which are, shall we say, not easy.
So am I, but I'm not sure if it will ever reach my original purchase price of 350/share. OTOH, I averaged down a few times.
hans
Yes but will we see 350 a share again?
Been buying oil and silver this year on pullbacks, but one day the music will stop, and i really don't want to be holding then, there's a long way to fall.
Be out my last silver position soon, looking to leg in gently to both on pullbacks.
hans
Cancelled my YI sell at 35.70, its up .60 from there so far... now asking 36.60, with a hope to buy back cheaper.
As long as Middle East is turbulent, oil and metals will go up. Afeared to chase oil here, maybe a pullback.
hans
I was looking at broadband options and i saw franklin hardware. wow! from a penny stock with little going on for years. didn't they get down to one employee, no office, nada? be nice to see a resurgence.
Not that I'm counting on it, but this is the stock casino, anything can happen.
hans
Shorted yesterday for 21, 7, this morning covered for 5. Still short another contract from closer to 12k.
Also short ES, 1313, bid to cover 1309 and missed... and short more ES closer to 1300.
ASTM good day, YI, AGQ rocking.
Didnt play it all that good, but cant complain.
Suspected oil crisis was not over, despite thursday's euphoria.
hans
+200 ? time for a pb... short YM 66, 1 pt from the AH high, asking for 21 pts to cover, 1 for comish the rest for moi...
bid at 45, dont tell me i'll miss by a pt again...
edit bid 50, missed by a pt., unless it comes back down.
hans
No no, I passed on HANS at 33ish. In at 53.40 Thursday, out Friday for a pt on a limit order. Who knew?
A profit is good... missing 4 ez pts, not so good.
hans
I sold most of my silver futs on the way up last week. Bought a little back on weakness.
Holding my AGQ for 100+ pts profit or bust.
out of gold, been buying oil futures on pullbacks, now flat bidding 96 overnight. I think there will be more unrest.
hans
We we're talking about this last time when it hit 33... best stock of the decade.
This time I pounced, and sold at 54.44, a good trade?
Hans
Is JPM one of them? We can only hope.
Sold some YIs at 30.30, 31.30, kept some. Been buying back on the dips when offered.
I hate to hold futures, you can get killed. But hate to sell cause silver is going to 50. Trying not to be greedy, hold and wait meaningful discounts for entry.
Holding AGQ for 100 pt profit.
hans
I do. Sold some up there once upon a time too... but got back in early and held and added. In IRA. Like I said, hard to compute the basis its been so long. Back then they mailed out paper confirmations.
Its true, I have some 3.50 shares in addition to the 350s. Not sure of my basis, its so long ago that TDAmeritrade doesnt have a basis.
Nice move, but it won't help me much. I have shared from 350.
I agree, I'm not selling calls on my shares. However, picking up more and selling calls would give you a cost basis under 4. Not a bad bet.
Bidding 4.95 no fill... got my latest ASTM (which then went down) and didn't get more GERN (which is going up without me). Oh well. Volatility is a friend.
hans
strike 5 Jan 2012 last sale on yahoo 1.20
jan 2013 1.68
Open interest biggest on 2012, helps to get in and out with less spread.
Premium too high for you? Buy the stock at 5 and sell the calls.
hans
Thats why its nice to have two sets of shares... Let one go under 10 for a flip, in case it moves up and down (like it did the last few years, printing 9.xx and then 4.xx at least once).
And another set of LTBH shares for the 10 to 100 range which will come when stem cells cure major diseases.
hans
Added flipping shares at 2.66, keeping my other 13 positions for the long haul.
hans
Bidding 4.95 to add to my position, stem cell's day is coming.
hans
Holding AGQ till I see a 100 pt profit or bust.
hans
I wouldn't have been that generous, but words fail me.
Everything yahoo touches it ruins. It's email is full of spam, it charges for pictures, it changes everything all the time. Lousy customer service. And that annoying messaging.
If it wasn't free... and if I didn't like yahoo finance...
After all that six sigma drivel it's hard to get excited about GE.
Energy Independence has been talked about since Carter, but nothing has been done. We could easily make deep cuts or eliminate ME dependency, but have chosen not to do so.
Not only do we not support energy independence, but we actually support increased dependence, by subsidizing the oil companies, putting punitive tariffs on Brazilian clean ethanol, and giving SUV buyers 50% tax breaks. Just getting the feds out of energy would be a start.
If you favor federal action, a revenue neutral gas tax offset by an income tax cut, a la Europe, would encourage smaller cars, less commuting, and more centralized work/living arrangements.
If gas goes to $10 slowly, the problem will solve itself, just like the transition from whale oil to kerosene etc. If it happens in a spike, that's trouble.
Wait for the crisis, then act, that's the American way.
Sigh... nothing is happening. The market is going down, which wont help AMST.
Big stocks have little spreads, tiny stocks have big spreads. A few thousand shares of AMST don't cost very much, so the MM's have a big spread and cover their tails. I don't think they plot all day to make few bucks. No one is getting rich.
Eventually, there may be news, products, or earnings. Until then just be patient.
My bid of .025 never filled, it's still sitting there month after month.
I remember their IPO. At the time they had no revenue or earnings, a perfect example of dot com fever. I guess they finally got something going.
GAPPER ASTM TANKER JPM
keep trying it till i win the crown
CROX... a bad trade gone good.
I got really lucky.
At 70 I watch it fall
I bid 44 and miss
I chase at 49
Avg down 10X at 1
Sell 2nd helping at 6.66
Now I have a negative cost basis on the orginal shares, but I'm waiting for 50+ again to sell, may as well, its an IRA.
hans
A whole stash? Into a highly speculative penny stock? Don't do things like that. The risk is huge. I put 1% of my IRA into AMST.
The more I read this board the less I like the stock. Too much hype.
Fortunately ASTM doing OK nowadays. And I'd like to add to GERN.

I use 7th generation soap, supposedly non-toxic. No fabric softeners, a newly minted marketing concept that people lived without for millenia.
Drying mostly on the rack, it prevents much damage, saves $ and makes for a greener planet.
And yes, wear the undies once and the outies 10 times before washing.
hans
Dr Van, someday I will have a new van like yours, but my '86 vanagon is still holding out, albeit in the shop for a few months for a new engine. It still feels new, compared to the '82 I traded in.
I buy most clothing from LL Bean, although REI can be OK too.
I agree. To force workers making minimum wage to work off the clock is unconscionable.
Just say no to Walmart. Vote your pocket book.
