Oh, EagleOne, you great populist, you!
Inspiring speech, count me energized.
I've written this MANY times and will do so again, so you can eagerly await my continued participation in this board: I HOPE THEY LAUNCH!!
I want to see if an ad-supported model based on archaic DRM-crippled music can succeed. In a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I thought maybe it could. But that window has most likely closed (it definitely slammed shut in China last week), and I now have grave reservations about the viability of the model itself. How could anyone not? IF they actually launch and if they actually become a reporting company, perhaps this discussion will no longer be academic. And I will have no problem admitting I was wrong if this model succeeds, as I will profit if it happens. Together we will see how many steps up the "steep slope" BLLN takes. And I'll be here until the bitter end, unless mods decide otherwise.
In the meantime I don't need to be reminded about the huge risks involved in the pennies, etc., or excuses about the global capital climate anymore than you need to reminded about the innumerable broken promises and lies AK and crew have delivered. I think we both see what is REALLY going on.
Cheers!
gtd
Yup, 2-year old sums it up perfectly!
Q-tunes, imparting wisdom to you is likely an impossible task, so instead I'll share a favorite phrase from my dear grandfather-
"Even a blind squirrel sometimes finds an acorn"
If you think being right less than 10% of the time merits congratulations, then well, you go girl.
are you actually SERIOUS?
The fact a website is up mirroring the same promises the old website made, on the last day of the month in which AK said the LAUNCH definitely WOULD happen (which of course didn't, as didn't the last 15 promises) EXCITES you so? This vindicates Darth's legacy of unending false promises and hints???
Geeesh....
Behold the next carrot!
PK- I don't do childish things like say "I told you so". If I did, I'd be in here crowing about my prediction last fall that NONE of the launches would occur. I can provide the post number if you don't believe me.
As for day trading BLLN, pinkies with average daily volume of less than $38,000 are hardly compelling or worth my time.
I'm glad you're green though, and wish you continued good luck!
Blind faith is a more accurate term, Eagle. There is no analytical or reasonable basis for having "faith in the team" as you say. Not this team.
Of course Pinkies are for the risk-tolerant. No one disputes that. Thing is, an embryonic pinkie has enough challenges to face if management is honest and open. BLLN's are deceptive and dishonest instead.
And the deal is, Eagle, you can NEVER buy integrity. Once it is lost, it's gone forever. Hence the crumbling Klepfisz house of cards...
It's obviously "kiddie fairy tale" time in here. Like Google and BLLN are comparable, Birdie One... Anyway, congrats, you are truly the Pied Piper for these scared followers!
Kish- 0.25? HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHa!
Yeah right.
Darth- I think it's time you take a look in the mirror and ask yourself-"Why do I continue to feel this way? Will my happy thoughts and positive energy cause this company to suddenly deliver? Or is there a chance that these guys I continually defend are little more than snake oil salesmen?"
Once you can strip the emotion from the investment you'll no longer feel such anger or be threatened of those of us who have been burned and lived to tell about it. You'll see its really nothing personal.
May I ask you provide additional detail about the license extension with the labels? I'd be particularly interested in the term of the license as well as what, if any, consideration was required. Why was there no PR about this, and what is with the continued silence?
Believe it or not, I still hope this pig launches, not because I expect any real gain with my paltry remaining shares, but because I want to know if I am right or wrong wrt the business model. I think the model will prove to be a failure, but I will be the first to admit I'm wrong in here if it turns out to actually be viable and PROFITABLE. It would be sadly empty to have this company wither away without actually seeing how the product is perceived, but I fear that is exactly what is happening.
Exactly what did you think was relevant in your Businessweek link? Or were you using satire by exposing the out of date info contained therein?
LOL!
Be careful, some in here may actually believe you.
For the sake of argument, I will agree with you that E1's posts have been deleted. I've had as many posts deleted as allowed, so it seems, at least, and plenty of my deleted ones (in my opinion) weren't deserving. So, that sounds like a draw to me.
So, in other words, Darth, they're either not capable or willing to put up the $10 to $15 million that was suggested earlier as a required "savior" infusion. If they did have the cash and the intent, you can be assured they would just buy in to more qtrax as Allen would not hesitate for a SECOND to continue to dilute "old" investors (definition of "old" investor- one for whom Allen has little regard has he has already pissed away their money). They're not going to buy up the floated crap we retail investors have been worrying about. And, EVEN IF THIS HAPPPENS (which I doubt, and certainly doubt via your foreign "friends"), PPS likely will waddle along until, for the first time in BLLN history, AK does something OTHER than piss away this illusionary "new" money.
But hey, let's watch what happens... And let's remember WHO is to blame.
Jeez, Darth, I'm really starting to feel for you. And I mean that sincerely, not in a sarcastic sense.
You just wrote "Allen has...probably screwed a few launch dates...more than a few to be precise".
Why not just tell the F'ing truth, Darth?- Allen has completely failed to deliver on EVERY SINGLE LAUNCH DATE, EVERY SINGLE TIME. Why sugar coat this turd? In case you haven't noticed, I post in here in a reactive sense- when you, or Bird1, or Qurious, or whomever starts spinning crap out of your a$$es, I respond. "Probably screwed a few launch dates" is like saying that Tiger and his wife may be having a slight touch of trouble.
You also add- "when your friends backs are against the wall....that is when you know who your real friends are"... May I please suggest buying a puppy next time? A puppy will ALWAYS be your loyal friend, will never promise things he can't deliver, and will NEVER beg you for cash as he lives a first class life of luxury.
There ain't no such thing as "friends" in the world of non-reporting, unaudited pinkies. Change your paradigm or continue losing money.
That's all good and well, Darth, but let's face it: none of these folks are considering ponying up 10 to 15 million on this pig and u know it. I understand you're stressed with the collapse of BLLN but to blame me, Chewy, or any other poster for this misadventure displays inexperience and emotion. Not fact. Nor reason.
And neither am I.
Sorry for the double post. Smartphone blues.
To imagine that big money with $15mill to play with would base any decison on what is posted in here is COMICAL. It scares me to think some of you actually believe that. Ihub is for we teeny retail investors.
Darth-
What are you babbling about? EagleOne's only contribution to this forum has been a pleasant and non confrontational attitude. There has been nothing of technical or fundamental analysis he (or me, for that matter) has brought to the table. I don't agree with Eagle One, and its obvious he's in on the pump, but he's inoffensive. Thought-provoking... Meh. No. Not hardly.
If you can read the latest wordpress missive and not be enraged by the arrogance and narcissism of "AK" and company, then there is nothing anyone in here can write to change your mind.
Please refrain from logic and rational discourse, Mix. A certain "faction" has an emotional need to blame their bad investments on someone other than themselves or the investments. I say we hold that mantle with pride (as well as keeping straight faces)...
Shoot me a PM if you get a chance, Chewy. (I don't have the power to send mail from within iHub). If you want to include your email addy, I will keep it confidential as well.
I'm curious, Speedy- why limit this important message to Darth, Bird and Lucky? Don't those guys already have enough unfounded optimism? Do you "pinky swear" these details are "eyes only" for founders?
I find your post extremely credible and may just back the truck up. Between you and me we should be able to move this guy to 0.045 easy.
To infinity and beyond!
I think you are right, Germy in that the paid advertisers on Google's Chinese site are a source of revenue. Also, Google profits when their search engine is used for any additional purpose as well, which may be their prime motivation of going up agaisnt Baidu. Unfortunately, from what I've been able to read, the ad revenue has been miniscule nearly one year into the service.
I've never got my head around exactly how the "digital watermark" Google is using works in this case. It seems this insert provides tracking information to the labels in terms of download statistics, etc. Maybe you are right that also serves as usual DRM, but I don't know this to be fact. And because I can't read Chinese and don't have the correct IP address, I'm likely to stay in the dark...
Just two thing, Germy-
First of all, I promise I've had as many, if not more posts deleted in here as have you. It is hardly "your side" that has been singled out for post deletion.
Secondly, you may be right wrt to the funding and the stock, but after the experiencing the beta run of Songbird, realizing that the downloaded content was limited to that specific computer and wasn't transferrable, and that monthly syncs were required to keep the DRM for stopping play, I rapidly lost faith in the attractiveness of the business model.
I personally believe that the potential Chinese users are at least, if not more, computer savvy than North Americans, and will soundly ignore ad-supported DRM-crippled, computer specific music they're used to getting for free. I could be wrong, but I think the business model is the problem (and the funding, of course), and that is why I predicted in post 20143 (over a month ago and prior to any failed launches on the current timetable) that NOTHING was ever going to rollout. So far my call has been spot on. I think the conspiracy theory that they don't want to rollout (as there goes the carrot) has merit. I respect your disagreement, but will challenge you and anyone else who predicts, without basis, that this stock will take off when whatever future event occurs. I'm just not a kool-aid kind of guy, I guess... Too bad that pisses some folks off.
We must have similar sources. I've heard we're partnering with Pandemic. Match made in heaven I'd say.
Eagle One-
With all due respect, I'd like to take a look at your list of BLLN "achievements"-
1. Contract with the World's four largest music producers on a Worldwide
distribution basis.
--Let's face it, this is worthless without a distribution vehicle, and QTRAX has never distributed. It really isn't that big of a deal to get a contract like the one QTRAX has with the labels as there is hardly any exposure to the labels and only potential upside. If QTRAX could deliver, of course the labels would be delighted. But this has yet to happen, and is merely speculative
2. Exceptionally fast search and download capability from massive libraries
--Did you ever use Songbird? I don't remember you posting in here when the beta was out. Anyway, it was WEAK and BUGGY as all get out. There has been NO fast or massive anything. There HAS been legal action from the actual hardware provider, Oracle, as we all know, but none of this capability you speak of has EVER been up and running. Again, speculative.
3. Mobile mp3 device downloads
--Huh? Where? When??
4. Larger mp3 files for better music - virus free
-- Everyone has high quality MP3 files now. Amazon, iTunes, you name it. This is NOT a competitive advantage nor specific to QTRAX in any way imaginable. No commercial site has viral MP3 files. What could you possibly be comparing this with, torrents, the usenet, or other p2p??
5. Contract with Baidu for music search downloads
-- The very definition of speculative. Until we see it running, we have no reason to believe it will, based SOLELY on past performance.
6. Contract with MOL for music search downloads
-- See #5
7. High quality Board of Directors and exceptional quality co-Chairmen
-- Totally subjective. There is some label and marketing experience therein, and there is a lot of past failure baked in there as well.
8. Dedicated executive team attempting to bring all this together
-- How do you measure this "dedication"? Certainly not by results or reliability insofar as I can see. Exactly what are your standards and metrics?
Honestly, does #8 mean ANYTHING, or is it just "fluff"??
I look forward to your commentary on this, EO, as I fear much of your list is merely a regurgitation of BLLN PR. I'll happily be proven wrong, if you can.
Brooklyn- check post 21446, there's ur link.
Lucky, that is the most senseless thing you've ever posted. Who cares who "works" how long? Talking about gibberish like that is what folks do when they want to avoid talking about things that matter.
Instead, why not discuss funding prospects, potential entry in the Balkans after China's revised rollout flops, and who knows what else?
And just because someone says they know someone doesn't mean you have to believe it. Don't be so gullible. I'd really like to be able to take you seriously.
Rack- see the comments after yours. "Qtraxer" fixed the dates.
Eagle, exactly what are we going to have to do to persuade you to QUIT telling us about "AK" working "day and night"? That line is beyond ridiculous now, as well as completely irrelevant, as it always has been. Give it a permanent rest, please. Unless you are his roommate, you have no idea what you're talking about.
The "glimmer" is obviously the usual string to the carrot. Using a weblog for such a fashion reeks of amateurism and BS. The "negs" are completely within their rights for bringing this up.
You say "he has come through". Prove this. Please.
It's disappointing that you and others have framed this failure as a "us" versus the "negs" battle. The non-pumpers in here have nothing to do with the constant disappointment failure to deliver that is BLLN. "We" aren't the enemy. And "we" aren't clamoring for more BS press- rather, we would appreciate the promises the company makes to actually materialize. I'll happily wait for an honest PR, rather than a continuation of the lies and propoganda. For someone who offers investing advice for the "pinkies", I would have hoped you understood this.
My god, in addition to be a liar, cheat, and complete narcissist, AK is also a buffoon as well (or at least childishly sloppy). First he talks about Thursday, 12/24/09 then he says it will be Wednesday, 12/24/09. You'd think a guy who's pissed away $5 million plus of investor dollars would at least pay a modicum of attention to blog postings on his company's page that he knows stockholders read. Maybe room service was at his door knocking, distracting him?? Then again, compared to his "in stone" rollout schedule, this post may not look so bad in retrospect. At least he was half right on the dates...
I have to be honest, I think Lucky's is a tad better, though you both are off on the Bai-du line. Too many darn syllables...
Thanks for the ibox reminder. I had forgotten about that thing. Checking it out again brought laughter, then tears...
Why in the world would a CPA firm be referenced when BLLN doesn't even offer audited or reviewed financials and isn't a reporting company? That is sort of like me linking to Warren Buffett because we're both invested in the same stock. And, in the usual sloppiness associated with all things BLLN, whoever cut and pasted the QTRAX bio info from the QTRAX site didn't even bother to correct the typo "Supertacks" in Riccobono's data. Now, if it had been "Supercuts", I never would have noticed it.
Pardon me, Chewy, but can you educate me on "i-box"? I'm getting too old to keep up with all of these new-fangled things...
Indy, I see your point. Focusing on reality is so much more tiresome than speculating on a brave new world just around the corner. Sometimes I'm not very good with the vision thing. I appreciate your taking the time to share that with me. Thank you.
How about this for an answer, Qurious- Maybe we're SICK of the LIES and PUMPING and want to ensure that any newbies to this site who haven't had a chance to learn which posters have absolutely NO credibility realize what's going on.
So I answered your question, now here's mine for you- What are you so AFRAID of? Why do you waste your time worrying about who posts what? What is the root of your insecurity? And please don't tell me you think Chewy or I have the power to move PPS.
Just like when a salesman tells you "I'm honest", and you know not to trust him, you should realize that those who want to muzzle the voicing of opinions contrary to theirs have something to hide.
You should instead thank us for being here, and try freeing your mind (which may help your wallet). Just quit whining about posts you don't like. It's not going to change a thing.
That is exactly right. But when this is patiently explained, some get hysterical, call names, and try to ban posts. I've never seen anything quite like this place. I'd love to see the age demographics in here, but I'm pretty sure I could accurately guess on my own.
amen.
Why bother, anyway. Unless you're pumping, they don't want to hear it!
Did you realize today was another missed launch, Darth?
The truth will set you free, Lord Vader!
Eagle-
Are you seriously advancing the position that a stock discussion board is NOT the place for critical commentary?
And are you advocating that those who are asking for money so as to deliver their promised technology aren't analyzed with some consideration on past lies, missteps, and failures?
I thought this was a discussion group, not an optimists club meeting.
