Not a bad idea SG. I got stopped out of a UC for a few pips loss. Now short EU 1H chart comming off the supply side, but it's being difficult.
Cleared out one of my GU short lines and a short NU out of the money trades, to open up room for trading this new stuff.
Got stopped out of UC trying to trade from a 15M chart. May need to go to a higher time frame. More potential pips there anyway.
Still learning this thing, so gotta expect a few pip losses here and their. Decided that money is more important than pride. The heck with trying for record breaking winning sequential winning trade runs. Just get the thing making BETTER money...
I like the 15m better, but 1h may be stronger, but take more patience.
So far, although I have not traded this new system very much, My theoretical assumptions have been pretty spot on. So gonna stick with it for a while.
Decided that money is more important than pride. So no more holding dogs just to prove myself right. Kill them fast if thay start barking.
I am seeing something different. I am running auto zones. AU established a fresh supply zone about 5 bars back and is now droping away from it.
NU 15M just touched demand (3 rd touch). Interesting to see what happens here.
AU 15M looks to late for me to want to enter.
UC 15M turned from yellow to red in current range. Now truely a supply zone, but could run sideways for a while. Gotta do the popular thing by selling the worthless us dollar into oblivion. No govt = no potential value
Covered one of my GU short lines to free up trading cash. Keeping one untill the sun don't shine any more. Will re enter after Govt theatricals end.
On second thought, NU 15m strong demand has been hit 2 times already. May not take the trade. Could break down further. Probably better trades coming soon.
NU Looking ready to get long 15m
Maybe early on uc, but green stronger supply just above shld certianly be a key turn down
Sold uc on new SZ. 15M
Yup to the always learning stuff. Just closed my NU short on the AU news. corrilation is present. Took my first relatively minor hit in a LOOOONG time, but want to get trading these zones. Will make it back quickly.
Good deal SG. U/C looked like a classic example of how to trade this stuff. I'm thinking that when we get past this budget issue (shut down) problem, that the dollar may come back hard. But then looms the 16T cap issue next. How long will this all drag on is the big question that I am asking myself right now.
But the longer I watch this system, the better of I will be down the road. Will become more comfortable with trading it.
Gotta watch my post count. Don't want to run out 1/2 way thru the day. Knock em dead SG.
1. When is the last time they bought a lease?? Been quite a while. And one field they have is CLOSED.
2. "drilling wells". Please tell me when they 'DRILLED" THEIR LAST WELL. None that I know of. Reworked a couple maybe, with results HIDDEN from the share holders.
3. I am sterting to view this as a pump & dump.. Promotion has stopped, because the # of posts on the board have diminished to nothing. It's a shure sign of pump & dump activity.
Yup. Wish that I could have taken the trade, but need to let my bad NU & GU'S come back to me a little bit at least, and hopefully a lot. Kind of biting me right now. So just watching and learning at the moment.
Should make a decision soon. Which is more important, money or pride. Could just dump my positions from "before the awakening" and get trading again. But have such a good success record going for the past year, that it makes me want to keep it going.
stkjunky's dilemma.
Morning sg, where did you get the SupportAnd Resistance indy from? I watched Alfoso's video last night. Link posted by pennies, i think. He uses it, or something very similar.
Check U/swiss out right now sg.
LOL to old layouts. I junked a bunh of old stuff over the weekend, but kept the best.
No, but it's not very far away from the 1.6251 supply level. 30M chart is showing some signs of this new supply level possibly holding, but needs to drop out of it for confirmation.
GU just formed a supply level, So should be due for a pullback. But if it breaks above, then next level of supply is from the daily chart way up at 1.62513 and never been hit at all. And goes back to december of 2012. Man, this one has shure has been a scalded cat.
Pennies, my plan for the NU is to dump the short when it gets to the demand level shown on the 4h chart below. These levels are drawn by auto sepdem. I am seeing the same thing with my 2h nu TOS chart and think that these levels will hold.
Just my opinion, but I would rather be long here than short. And my short entry was pretty lousy in retrospect.
Jav. Looks like a first touch buy to me if it touches your green zone. But I don't have the pair in my system to give you any comparisons.
OK, It works like the one in TOS then. I never use it in MT4, so was unaware. I gather that you may be thinking that the rectangle reader could detect the presence of a drawn in rectangle. Yes, to uncluttered charts!!
So last week I am assuming that you where using the shorter timeframes on the more volatile pairs to skalp, and at the same time keeping in mind the big picture on the daily. So then, did you skalp mostly with the BIG daily trend, or mostly counter trend, or both??
SG, TOS will do this with the rectangle drawer. Use it like lines & fill in the rectangle with any color you like. Have never tried it with MT4. Don't think it can be done without writing a program.
I find it usefull to be able to work with both charting programs. One often has features that another does not have.
Also, I noticed in one of the video's, that the guy was using trade station charts for his analysis. I have the soft ware, so hope to get it up & runing before to long. I have a spare computer to put it on, but need to get windows 98 software. It will not run on XP or newer. That will give me even more diversity.
Kinda shaky situation at the moment!! But this all helps with the learning..
Video guys like the daily & even weekly charts I think because the charts don't get as cluttered up.
Looks to me like best trade here is to wait for the daily to make a touch of the supply zone again & sell. It would then be a first & most reliable touch of the zone.
SG, ok, my closest supply zone on MT4 daily is at .8364 A little lower than yours.
And yes, your idea that a drop will be required first fits what I am thinking. But not much tho.
Awaiting your answer to jav's question.
Jav. I like your question. It's important. And the idea of putting different timeframes on one chart could be good also. I'm interested in hearing what SG has to say about this also. Only drawback could be a pretty cluttered up chart, With less important time frames showing. One of the video's shows dropping the less strong zones, and drawing a support/resistance line instead, but not trading them.
Just my opinion, cause i'm certianly no expert with this yet.
Hello SG. Been studying & working with the supply/demand stuff all morning. Been applying it with mt4 and hand drawing in TOS NU 2H chart. Watched a couple of the video's last night, and a couple more this morning. And one or 2 of them over again.
Great stuff. Makes me see some things completely differently. For example, I had been thinking that a new low touch for the NU was possible, but now clearly see that a test of the alltime low is highly unlikely. It has been touched to many times already. Starting to get a grasp on this thing.
SG, Below is a close up of my TOS NU 2H chart with supply & demand zones drawn in. Would you please review it and give me your opinion on the big yellow note (next to the arrow) and adjacent to the bar in question. I think that it is a new demand zone. And the 30 minute MT4 auto system is calling it that. What do you think??? Should it be given a demand zone label quite yet???
This chart situation brings to mind that old song "stuck in the middle with you", what it is s'not exactly clear.
Also, on my next post I will post the expanded NU 2H chart for your review. Let me know what you think.
SG, just did a visual comparison between your chart & mine. Unbeleivable. I did no tweaking, adjusting or tinkering with my chart, and it matches pretty darn close.
From the bottom zone up, measured at the resistance pionts.
My # your# (appx)
98.121 98.130
98.311 Yours not shown
98.657 98.660
99.000 99.000
Looks like the reason one zone is missing on your chart is because the most recent (or last) bars are not showing on your chart. And the chart size matters when comparing (# of bars) showing on the charts.
Thanks for pointing out the arrows to me. Makes things lots clearer to me already. I think that I see LOTS of potential with this. A great part about it is it looks like it has the ability to let you know at least approximately when to exit. That has always been the hardest part of trading for me to get close to right. Particularly when scalping. May just darn well love this thing.
Gonna check out for the day now. Have some home responsibility's to take care of. Will do some studying later tonight. Then play with the charts on Sunday morning. And possibly test drive it Sunday night for real, when the markets are slow.
Thank you so much SG. Catch you later.
OK SG. Got it finally. Now have supdem & rect.reader installed. This is just a chart that I randomly selected to throw the 2 indys on. Just to show you. Means nothing as TA, because I have what looks like tons of homework to do before I will have a clue about how to use this stuff correctly.
I hereby pronounce you a prince of the FX. For your patience, knowledge, helpfull attitude and above all else, persistance. Your the man my friend!!!
Gonna be spending lots of time tomorrow studying the video's and reading Alfonso's thread to get a better handle on this critter.
SG, Ok, In other words, don't be a chicken (LOL), put it in the indicators folder, shut down & restart. Right.
Actually pretty happy that I decided to go thru the uninstall/reinstall process.
Been learning and refreshing my memory. Have not had a need to use this stuff for quite a while.
Also learned a trick regarding SSL fast while hunting down the file.
Was checking aroud FF and came up with several versions of it. And was checking out some of the posted charts. Found a way to "stack" them to read all time frames. Gonna work with it later this weekend. Will post a chart if it looks promising. So far, it looks like it could make a nice addition/confirmation.
Good Morning SG. Yes, things have gone very well with my re-install of mt4. I am now 100% back in business. Wrote all of my indy #s down for my templates so no file swapping from back up files would be needed. Fortunately, as I find better systems, I just junk out the old stuff as I go along. So only had a couple to deal with.
"BTW when you see indicators for download that can only be found in ex.4 its usually because author is wanting to protect his intellectual property but at the same time seem to not mind sharing his work.Odd sounding to me but have seen it before where ex.4 is only thing found for DL and not in mq.4 "
Ok, I have downloaded 3 MQ4 files needed to re-build my templates. Very easy now. But with Windows xp the sequence that I used to get the files to the indicators folder is somewhat different than what you descibed.
1. When I click on an MQ4 file, it brings it up in a drag down menu at the bottom of my screen.
2. When I click on it at the bottom, I tell it to open, and bang, it automaticely opens my meta editor and the code is there.
3. Then I click files-save as, and it opens a window that I can select metatrader-experts-indicators, then save.
4. Then, as you suggested, I shut down the mq4, but leave the meta editor open, and when I re open the platform, the code is installed and ready to use.
Ahhh, difference between ex4 and mq4... Have never ran into this issue before. The RectangleReader at Alfonso's thread is an .ex4
I can get it to save in my downoads file, but when I try to open it from there, but it will not open. If I click on PROPERTIES, it tells me that the file is blocked, and gives me an option to unblock, then furter states, if possible. Well, it's not possible.
I can then go further with it and get the file to my experts, then indicators, but have been afraid to try anything further, because it would be bypassing the compiler in meta editor. Could be corrupt, so not willing to risk it at this time, and do not know if it would work anyway.
Getting this .ex4 to work is the only issue that I have left now.
And I guess what you are saying about copy & paste is that you can not get the code to show up in your meta editor as an .mq4??
I dont know, but I use control "c" to copy, and control "v" to paste. Like I said, never ran into this before.
Yowww, long winded huh...
SG, just found this on a search that I ran..
RectangleReader.ex4 (21KB) Last Edit: 20 Jun 2013 21:55 by panoramia. The administrator has disabled public write access.
And theirin lies the problem...
However, their is a way around it.
Copy & past the code on this board, then I can copy & paste it into my meta editor, compile & save just like any other indy.
Intersted in giving it a try. And would likely have to do the same with SUP/DEM. Because I have had the same problem with it.
Yo SG, I pulled the trigger on uninstalling MT4. Boy, did i find some folders where they did not belong. Uninstalled, then manually went in and dumped everything that I could find. Then ran a windows search for metatrader, and it's unbeleivable what it found. A 186 MB hidden folder in my epson printer stuff. How in the world it got there is way beyond me. But I deleted it.
Then, went to fxdd and downloaded a clean install. Walla, 5 minutes later it's working perfect. Built my charts back in and changed some preferences.
Then Went out on the internet and downloaded Keltner channels and the Traders Dynamic index with absolutely no problem. Clicked on the download file, and bang, code showed up in the meta editor all by itself. Then compiled, and went to save as, then to indicators and save. Then shut down MT4 - RE OPENED- AND INDICATOR IS WHERE IT SHOULD BE IN THE LISTS and working properly.
Works perfectly. BUT HOWEVER, when I try to download the link from Alfonso's thread #15, it does the same thing to me. I can save a 20KB file in my downloads folder, but can not get it to the meta editor as code. I can save it in my indicators list, but it only shows one item, not 2, as needed to read it. Something is wrong with that link. Because it should load just like k channels or TDI.
I don't get it. Do you know of any other sites that have a good link? I am doing some more searching, but the 2-3 that I find on yahoo search lead me to Alvonso's thread.
Pennies, yes to the TDI. But you TDI looks different than mine. But my TDI does match with respect to the green line coming up to test the yellow line.
Also, on my daily chart, my keltner cross overs kicked out about as solid a sell signal possible. That has been my first entry point for a long time now. So looking much better for down price action now.
But who knows what the banksters can dream up!!!
SG, yes, I gave that a thought. but like the idea of just dumping everything better. It will not take me long to get up & running again. Maybe 1-2 hours at the most. Then I will go in and re name the files in windows explorer so i will then know for certian what files belong where.
Then I can go get another demo, and re name those files for clairification. That was a problem that I had when re-installing the last time. Duplicate files with different things in them. "which one do you keep" issue, and to much dragging and dropping.
Thanks pennies. Hope to join you guys soon with this supply/demand you guys are using. Maybe I can contribute to the board better. Just gotta get some download bugaboos fixed.
EDIT- My 2h chart for NU is now showing a nice moving avg cross to down now. And both are below the long term avg. Been pretty reliable, but time will tell.
SG, now ready to uninstall MT4 after the market closes tonight.
I just went in and wrote down all of my indicator settings for my templates that I am currently using. Have a bunch of old ones, but do not want then any more.
Going to start out completely clean. Not even going to try to use backed up files to recover what I have. I think that is what caused me the problems that I have now.
I really want to get these supply/demand indys. Always looking to improve my trading profits. Now have a good run of consecutive winning trades, but the $ numbers can be better. And maybe I can eliminate time tied up for extended periods of time in out of the money trades.
Yo pennies, what is your supply/demand telling you now on the NU. Looks to me like it got hit early this morning, and the price has backed down from it. Are you still in the short NU. A am still holding & been running about 20-25 pips out of the money on the trade. Holding & still looking to make a few on it.
SG, Tried it every way under the sun, and get the same error message. The file will not get into the mt4 meta editor. End of problem. I am going to uninstall MT4 and get rid of all existing files and folders, and re install, to make certian that everything is in the correct folders.
If it will not get to the mt4 after that, then I am just going to have to live without it.
Want to clean up the platform anyway. Lots of unnecessary stuff in it, and I may have downloaded a corrupted file at some time in the past.
Yes SG. I have always in the past had to use ony files that say .ex4 at the end, or the code will not be visible in the meta editor.
The problem that I am having is that now, when I click on the link to download the indy & code, It says open file. And when I click on open file, It immediately says windows can not access the specified path, or file. And at the very top it is telling me C:\documents & settings\my documents\downloads
I think that I know where the problem is, and it's in windows explorer. It is showing me 2 different documents\downloads. Probably trying to go to one of the doc\downloads that is not linked to my MT4 platform. Can not just go in and start deleting in this area, or I will likely mess something else up.
So best bet is to just uninstall MT4 and re-install to get it on the correct file path. About 6 months ago, I formatted the hard drive, and re-installed everything. Re installed THE MT4 folders from my back up. And likely got something in the wrong place at that time. I did have a problem with getting MT4 to work correctly at that time. And have not, untill just recently, tried downloading new code. Now the MT4 is just not working like it should. Not going to be that big of a deal. Will get it done. Only really do not want to loose my templates, and a couple of key Indy's that I use. The other stuff that I have downloaded over the years do not matter any more, since I do not use them anyway.
That is the best explination of the problem that I can give you.
