Good Morning SG. Yes, things have gone very well with my re-install of mt4. I am now 100% back in business. Wrote all of my indy #s down for my templates so no file swapping from back up files would be needed. Fortunately, as I find better systems, I just junk out the old stuff as I go along. So only had a couple to deal with.

"BTW when you see indicators for download that can only be found in ex.4 its usually because author is wanting to protect his intellectual property but at the same time seem to not mind sharing his work.Odd sounding to me but have seen it before where ex.4 is only thing found for DL and not in mq.4 "

Ok, I have downloaded 3 MQ4 files needed to re-build my templates. Very easy now. But with Windows xp the sequence that I used to get the files to the indicators folder is somewhat different than what you descibed.

1. When I click on an MQ4 file, it brings it up in a drag down menu at the bottom of my screen.
2. When I click on it at the bottom, I tell it to open, and bang, it automaticely opens my meta editor and the code is there.
3. Then I click files-save as, and it opens a window that I can select metatrader-experts-indicators, then save.
4. Then, as you suggested, I shut down the mq4, but leave the meta editor open, and when I re open the platform, the code is installed and ready to use.

Ahhh, difference between ex4 and mq4... Have never ran into this issue before. The RectangleReader at Alfonso's thread is an .ex4
I can get it to save in my downoads file, but when I try to open it from there, but it will not open. If I click on PROPERTIES, it tells me that the file is blocked, and gives me an option to unblock, then furter states, if possible. Well, it's not possible.
I can then go further with it and get the file to my experts, then indicators, but have been afraid to try anything further, because it would be bypassing the compiler in meta editor. Could be corrupt, so not willing to risk it at this time, and do not know if it would work anyway.

Getting this .ex4 to work is the only issue that I have left now.

And I guess what you are saying about copy & paste is that you can not get the code to show up in your meta editor as an .mq4??
I dont know, but I use control "c" to copy, and control "v" to paste. Like I said, never ran into this before.

Yowww, long winded huh...
