nice find nuk!!
Happy New Year! 2009, time to shine!!
Nicehit, I think he probably updated his profile... and so all his posts now probably say Kaitrade.
If he had mentioned Kaitrade in the text, that would be concerning.
Jim Hensel on helping a guy set up a trading system in a country/region without a brokerage...

Interesting, recent discussion on Bloomberg Tradebook

What is under the hood? :D
I think we would notice if cp dumped his shares...
I don't expect crazy volume at this point... why would someone risk trying to sell on the last day of the year
Additionally, since the stock is down about 95% from where most people bought in, you don't have to dump too many to get a decent write-off, as the losses on those buys were huge. But most folks averaged down and probably cut their small writeoff a while back.
As a current shareholder, I would advise the same, though with a different expected outcome:D
This story is not over.
No dilution since August. A deal with Bloomberg, temporarily publicized by Spooz and confirmed on the phone by Bloomberg, that is awaiting public disclosure.
Have there been stumbles along the way? Yes. Has the company gotten back up each time? IMO, YES! Is the potential here any less than when I first started buying almost two years ago? IMO, NO! Maybe even higher now.
Admitted, all we have is lots of potential energy stored up in our Spooz rocket. Hopefully Paul, John, Jim and Co will press the ignition soon. Or perhaps radio down to us and say, hey, we're out in space now, and you will soon have enough $$ to buy one of those Richard Branson Space Tour tickets yourself:D
I hope everyone is doing well. Have a wonderful Christmas and don't get caught up in all that materialism bs. Just be happy- even the poorest among us (probably includes me!) are very blessed.
Peace,
Gbathat
Thanks Allie!
Imagine that, Paul and Errol trying to empower the average joe/jill to access top of the line investing strategies... I like that philosophy very much and hope it creates a great market for them.
Yeah Gmen, I think you hit the nail on the head. Why would Spooz want to attract any attention to the pps/bid/trading these days... unless it might soon be very entertaining to watch as a shareholder and enticing to prospective buyers...
One can hope!
I hope everyone here is doing well, even you folks with a not-so-positive outlook at the current time.
Peace,
Gbathat
"They are working on bloombergs timelines, not Spooz, not sure what that means but BB does not want anyone knowing what they are up to that is why the pr was removed."
This is actually great news... Spooz is not the rate determining step. That was really the only worry I had at this point, and your dd answered it.
Thanks so much again for sharing that info.
Peace,
Gbathat
Thanks for sharing your dd.
Tough to wait, but it does make sense in light of the financial crisis and the "no news" from Spooz. Perhaps BB had to dedicate resources to more pressing issues, or to streamline and temporarily freeze any expansion programs, like almost every other company/institution out there.
Heck yes!
How many software companies out there even get the attention of a company like Bloomberg, let alone close to (and hopefully soon locked in) a deal with them?
I'll wait as long as it takes... like many here, I don't have much choice, but I'm still optimistic.
MC, I think it is about five months old (mentions Q posted 5 months ago)
I imagine the affiliation of Jim with Kaitrade is just due to the fact that he updated his profile since then.
I thought the comments about Bloomberg were particularly interesting.
The comments about not being able to do real-time calcs in Excel were funny too, since that is what ST allows:D
Overall, it was just a confirmation to me that Spooztoolz has a potential market.
i was under the impression from prior posts that to uplist (not to big boards) would require
1. no dilution
2. audited financials
3. 60 days of silence
perhaps my memory is foggy though.
gbathat
could we be in the process of uplisting?
hence silence from the company? we have stable o/s, a/s, right?
perhaps Bloomberg said, we'll announce the deal, so long as you uplist. Maybe to do that, we had to cut costs in a major way (behold Kaitrade).
isn't 60 days of silence required to uplist? i think i've heard that number somewhere...
just some speculation, but if true, it would explain why we haven't heard much from the company.
good luck and have a good weekend all
Gbathat
That would be wonderful. Thanks MC!
Thanks MC!
I think the fact that Unwin invested in Kaitrade shows that there is considerable potential just in selling and supporting Spooztoolz.
If we have a 50% take, which will rapidly approach pure profit as seats are added, we will all be very happy.
Just 5% of Bloomberg Pro's 250,000K seats would be huge. 1200 seats is a good start. If we get similar deals with CQG, Ameritrade, IB, maybe others, things will be looking up in a hurry.
Throw in template fees (I'm sure Paul probably has a lot of those up his sleeve) for good measure. I do not forsee that aspect of the business plan going through Kaitrade.
Peace,
Gbathat
info relating to recent Bloomberg PR
http://www.e-forex.net/art-33-1329.efx
a bit dated (from October), but hopefully it will add to our discussion.
Who is the third party? Spooztoolz is an execution and order management system, right? That was such an oddly, deliberately placed statement, imo. I mean, here we have Bloomberg, boasting about this new trading tool, and then, sidenote, unnamed third party.
Props to Nuk for finding this announcement.
I agree with Birdito that this appears to be carefully pointing at Spooz. I also agree with MC that we need to keep the corks in check until we have better insight on the matter.
Great points by other posters about the other similarities. Thanks for your analysis.
"By integrating with third-party execution management and order management systems, we accommodate the risk and workflow needs of our users."
That was an interesting statement, imo
-----------------------
"The BLOOMBERG TRADEBOOK FX service gives traders the ability to place limit orders, drive quotes and execute block size to seek superior execution," said Kim Bang, President of Bloomberg Tradebook. "We are delighted to be working with Bank of America and look forward to them assuming the global execution and settlement counterparty role."
"Working closely with our clients, we continually enhance BLOOMBERG TRADEBOOK FX functionality and ease of use. By integrating with third-party execution management and order management systems, we accommodate the risk and workflow needs of our users. Our new post-trade allocation application enables clients to allocate trades on either percentage or notional breakdown based on a net average price, which is then seamlessly communicated across multiple accounts or Prime Brokers. We look forward to adding even greater value to FX market participants," Bang added.
Q3 fins will have to contain info on whatever is sustaining Spooz financially at this time. Best case it's revenues.
Another interesting and related question... what could be sustaining Kaitrade? How are they able to attract private investment, based on their business model, if there are not deals already locked up?
When I look through those files on the Kaitrade website, I am excited by the fact that Kaitrade does not appear to be communicating just with the trader directly.
The communications seem "to the point" and very "programming" oriented. I get the impression that they are using the site to communicate primarily to Spooztoolz-fluent tech support reps, not just traders. This is indicative to me that the customers are institutional in size and will have in-house folks helping the traders with the programs. So we may be looking at big customers with big orders who may be investing on their own end considerably to support Spooztoolz.
That is just my opinion.
Gbathat
water under the bridge
but worth noting that they are also these guys...
"Primarily we deal with companies who have hit a dead end within their own growth potential and companies who need unsecured funding and do not have anywhere to turn."
http://thekauderergroup.com/disclosures.html
... I felt that was a really crude way of describing what they do.
I remember being a bit taken aback by this part of their website when Spooz began working with them. It seems they take on high risk companies. That does not mean that the companies do not have potential, such as Spooz.
But that was way back when. I'd rather discuss Spooz's current activities.
Peace to all,
Gbathat
Thanks for your post. That was a very interesting read for me and changes my perception of KG a bit... guess I should have done more research. Thanks for sharing yours.
peace,
gbathat
The Kauderer group was in the business of taking on high risk companies. I have not been to their website in a while, but I do remember being concerned by Spooz engaging with them in business. I think Spooz just really needed money at the time, since they were going it alone.
Many folks around here have said things like, "If Spooztoolz is so revolutionary, why isn't already in the market?" My answer to that is I don't think they wanted to take the shortest path to the top. This is not just a potentially profitable venture, but a big part of their life's work. They wanted to maintain control for themselves and for the shareholders. Of course, this has its drawbacks, particularly when you hit other snags (Groves) along an already challenging road.
But we should get there Spoozville. In my opinion, we are getting there.
Peace to all, even you rowdy jailbirds:D
Gbathat
I'm with you MC.
However, it is interesting that Jim's Linked-in profile no longer mentions spooz or his employment there... kind of strange.
But the fact is, Spooztoolz is all over the Kaitrade website, along with some big name clients- IB, TD, and CQG... gotta like the looks of that.
Have a good one,
Gbathat
i think we're getting our answer to the Kaitrade question...
perhaps John is connecting ST to all these existing trading systems, perhaps for less money than it would have cost Spooz to have those companies do the work in-house
so Ameritrade customers will be using Spooztoolz?
I love how people around here try to spin that in a bad way.
that sounds good to me!
peace,
Gbathat
peeved, I would wait to see who gets what cut before starting to stress.
I think we will be in good shape at SPZI, getting a healthy cut, hopefully 70% or so.
As Allie said, Unwin and Hensel probably each have tons of shares in SPZI... they'll just be getting their salary from Kaitrade now.
Just my opinion.
Peeved,
I think they are just sub-contracting sales and support to Kaitrade to stay afloat until revs are coming in.
My guess is that Paul and Errol want to focus on 141 in the future, so they are letting John and Jim take care of Spooztoolz, now that it has been fully developed and is ready to go.
Kaitrade may also give John Unwin some freedom to pursue his own unique ideas without having to garner any proprietary rights to Spooz... fine by me as long as his tools compliment Spooztoolz and don't compete with it.
The question I ask myself is, how many clients must they have lined up to make Kaitrade an attractive option for Hensel? My guess is it is going to be a full time job selling Spooztoolz, otherwise Kaitrade probably couldn't afford to have Hensel on payroll.
For Spooz, the advantages are they keep the key players involved, they get to stay in the Green Zone, and management can focus more on 141, all without getting taken to the cleaners by Kaitrade. I imagine the sales and support costs associated with Kaitrade will not be terribly different from those costs if kept in-house.
Just my opinions. I too wish things were clearer. I think all we really want to know is what is Kaitrade's cut, right?
Take care,
Gbathat
peeved, I think some momo players who bought in expecting a run a few weeks ago may be getting out... some probably have rules about how long they stay in a play like this one.
I checked Jim Hensel's linkedin yesterday and it still says he is global business development manager...
I'm just gonna sit tight for a while and try to be patient some more.
Take care,
gbathat

Hello xxxx xxxx,
The TwsDde.xls is proprietary software of IB and it is an open source. Anyone can customize the file with a specific algorithm or trading needs. It is feasible that they use our original sample application and customize it.

An old excerpt that is still on the IB Website... clearly some aspects are outdated, but some interesting nuggets here
http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/general/poll/ibconsultants.php?accept_disclaimer=T&ib_entity=llc
Product Name: SpoozToolz
Provider Name: Spooz, Inc.
Description SpoozToolz is Excel add-in software that enables Excel to perform robust complex analysis functions, multiple cell referencing, and automated trading functions with live streaming data. SpoozToolz will be released Jan 15 for distribution through brokerages worldwide. We have had many requests from IB trading customers for SpoozToolz to be intergrated to the IB platform so they may trade directly from Excel. SpoozToolz graphical user interface is independent of any particular execution provider and offers users the ability to connect to their own preferred electronic execution platform, broker or clearing firm. For more information contact Darryl Dennis, Chief Marketing Officer, Spooz, Inc., 141 W Jackson Bvd CBOT BLD, Suite 1220, 3123793166
My question at this point is "What is the link between IB's current Excel based DDE and Spooz, if any?"
Can some of the folks who have seen Spooztoolz compare their observations to this training material from IB?
