Xechem Files Orphan Drug Application with the FDA For The Anti-Sickling Compound Licensed From Virginia Commonwealth University
Tuesday March 14, 6:30 am ET
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 14, 2006--Xechem International, Inc. (OTC BB: XKEM - News) Xechem International announced today that it has submitted its Orphan Drug Application for the five-membered heterocyclic anti-sickling compound known as 5-HMF to the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Research Shows Efficacy of 5-HMF
As reported on December 9, 2005, this promising compound has shown excellent biological activity in preliminary testing as an anti-sickling agent. This was discovered by Prof. Donald Abraham and his team of scientists from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Richmond, VA in collaboration with a team of doctors and scientists at NHLBI Sickle Cell Disease Reference Laboratory at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), University of Pennsylvania led by Professor Toshio Asakura. Xechem has acquired the exclusive, worldwide rights from VCU for the production, sales and marketing of 5-HMF for use in the battle against SCD.
Research has shown that the 5-HMF compound is not only a natural product with very little if any toxicity, it also appears to be an effective anti-sickling agent which has shown high affinity for hemoglobin and is very active in genetically modified transgenic (Tg) mice. Professor Abraham of VCU has characterized this compound as "the best potential antisickling agent in 30 years research to be discovered by (VCU's) research group." See Xechem's December 9, 2005 Press Release.
If granted, Orphan Drug status will afford Xechem seven years of marketing exclusivity for the drug once the drug is ultimately approved by the FDA, and will offer Xechem tax credits, filing fee waivers and certain other statutory benefits.
5-HMF Complements Xechem's Existing Arsenal for Treatment of Sickle Cell Disease
According to Xechem's Chairman and CEO, Dr. Ramesh C. Pandey, "This new compound licensed from VCU represents the latest effort undertaken by Xechem in the fight against Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), and adds to Xechem's existing arsenal of NICOSAN(TM)/HEMOXIN(TM), an all natural, phyto-pharmaceutical product that has shown enormous promise for SCD sufferers. NICOSAN(TM)/HEMOXIN(TM) has already been designated as an Orphan Drug both in the United States and in European Union countries. It was acquired under an exclusive worldwide license from the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), Ministry of Health, Government of Nigeria, Between the progress we have been making in bringing NICOSAN(TM) to market, and this exciting new heterocyclic pharmaceutical agent being developed in collaboration with VCU, we expect Xechem to be front and center in eventually offering the most viable and efficacious treatments to patients suffering with SCD around the world." Dr. Pandey added that the Company intends shortly to prepare and file an Investigational New Drug (IND) Application for submission to the FDA for both HEMOXIN(TM) and 5-HMF.
About Sickle Cell Disease
Sickle Cell Disease is a genetic blood disorder caused by an abnormality in the hemoglobin molecule. Patients with this disease often produce stiff, abnormally shaped cells that do not flow freely through blood vessels, creating clogs in the vessels, which in turn cut off the flow of normal hemoglobin and oxygen to the body. In Nigeria alone, more than 25% of the population are carriers of the SCD trait and over 4.5 million Nigerians (about 5% of the population) are actually afflicted with the disease. Approximately 15 million people, mostly in sub-Saharan Africa, are believed to suffer from this disease worldwide.

I went to the new offices of This Group on the 21st of Feb, it is in the State Tower a very palacial building close to the River in Bangkok.
The office was empty but there were furniture and things arriving while I was there, I met Sutida who did introduce me to people that were working on SWKJ and BUZZ,the SWKJ group was 6 people 4 Thai/Asian and 2 Others possibly American. The Buzz group 4 people were all Thai/Asian.
During my meeting there were a number of interruptions from deliveries and phone calls, this made it a little difficult to concentrate however, I did leave with confidence that there were real things happening there.

This is a historic day for Xechem International and its lead product NICOSAN(TM)/HEMOXIN(TM). We are extremely excited about our strategic alliance with Alembic, a well-established pharmaceutical company in India. Alembic's financial, technical and distribution strength will accelerate our ability to successfully launch NICOSAN(TM)/HEMOXIN(TM) first in Nigeria and surrounding countries where such conditions are a national priority, followed by the USA, Europe, Latin America, and Asian countries. Alembic's faith in Xechem and its technology validates our excitement about the product, and our immediate opportunity in Africa. We believe this will accelerate our drive toward clinical trials of NICOSAN(TM)/HEMOXIN(TM) in the United States."

Xechem Settles Antitrust Lawsuit Against Bristol-Meyers Squibb for $4.2 Million
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J., Dec 20, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Xechem International, Inc. (OTC BB: XKEM) Xechem International announced today that it has settled its antitrust lawsuit against Bristol-Meyers Squibb Co. for $4.2 million. Court files reveal that the case against Bristol-Meyers, which was brought in federal district court in Chicago in 2003, was based on Xechem's allegations that Bristol-Meyers had engaged in anticompetitive practices relating to Xechem's efforts to manufacture and bring to market the drug paclitaxel, a generic equivalent of Bristol's cancer drug, TAXOL(R). Similar allegations against Bristol had previously been raised in lawsuits brought by other generic drug companies which settled out of court. Bristol-Meyers has not admitted to any wrongdoing as part of the settlement. (For more information regarding the settlement, please refer to the Company's Form 8-K of public record.)
Settlement Proceeds Will Further Xechem's Efforts to Launch Sickle Cell Drug
According to Dr. Ramesh C. Pandey, Xechem's chairman and CEO, the timing of the settlement was as important to Xechem as the dollars involved: "The settlement with Bristol-Meyers could not have come at a better time for Xechem. As people who have been following our company are aware, we have been working on the development of NICOSAN(TM)/HEMOXIN(TM), a promising drug to be used in the treatment of Sickle Cell Disease, a devastating disease that afflicts millions of people worldwide, mostly in Africa, Greece, Turkey, Italy, the Arabian Peninsula, India and Latin America, including South America, Central America and parts of the Caribbean. We hope to bring NICOSAN(TM) to the Nigerian market in early 2006, and at the same time, embark on the clinical trials in the US hospitals for FDA approval through a New Drug Application (NDA) for sale of the drug in the United States. Xechem has already received Orphan Drug Designation for NICOSAN(TM) from the US-FDA, which gives Xechem seven years of marketing exclusivity in the USA. The money from the Bristol settlement will go a long way to realizing the goal of bringing this important drug to market." According to Dr. Pandey, the settlement, which is still being documented, should be completed by year end and the funds made available to Xechem shortly thereafter.

(PZ) Management Updates on SiteWorks' Developments in Thailand
© 2006 PRIMEZONE
MIAMI, Feb. 22, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Management of SiteWorks, (OTCBB:SWKJ) a construction and real estate development company, announced today that the company has made significant progress in getting projects for which it has commitments in place in Thailand under way.
During a recent trip to Bangkok, Michael Nurse engaged Baker McKenzie Thailand as SiteWorks' attorney in Bangkok. A Thai subsidiary, SiteWorks Building and Development Thailand was formed to perform the actual construction of the projects. The company signed a new lease on office space in the State Tower, Bangkok and is now looking for storage and yard space outside Bangkok.
All projects previously signed by SiteWorks Florida will be resigned by the local subsidiary SiteWorks Thailand to be in compliance with Thai law. SiteWorks Building and Development Thailand will now also be able to acquire property in Thailand.
Prestige Asia's role previously as a public relations company will be replaced by SiteWorks Building and Development Thailand. Management expects the relationship with Prestige will be ongoing on some level since Prestige is owned by Knightsbridge, and Knightsbridge has indicated its commitments to fund certain projects will transfer over to SiteWorks Thailand.
The Mission Hills project previously slated to start in the first quarter was delayed because the owner of the project had to resolve an issue of access to the property. That issue was recently resolved and preliminary work, previously interrupted will now proceed.

Just got off the phone with Mike
I have never talked to him before, but I see the same issues brought up here continually, so I thought I would clear things up for myself. I will see what I can remember while it is still fresh in my head.
The Knightbridge funding situation has not changed. They are "still going to do what they said they would do."
He confirmed that Prestige is their PR firm. But now he knows Thai people that can do the PR work "so what do we need them [Prestige] for." So he's doing marketing with his own Thai people. He also made the point that he doesn't have any control over the promo that Prestige does. I didn't ask him why. That point is moot at as far as I'm concerned, because he DOES have control by doing his own marketing with the Thai people he has hired.
I mentioned about the stock price going interday to .091 and then going back down, all on no news, and asked him if he had any idea what caused that?
He said he had "no idea" and stated that people "play games" with the stock.
He added: that's why he wants to get out of "this market." In the next bit of conversation that followed it was apparent that he wants to raise his cap and fulfill whatever requirements are necessary to get on another exchange. To me, this seems like something he would do, since he made the effort to go from pink sheets to OTCBB.
He was quite personable and seemed like a regular, unpretentious, straightforward person and a normal business man. He was in the middle of something (oddly enough) and still took the time to talk to me and was patient and relaxed. I felt that I had taken up enough of his time and got off the phone.
