The Chinese economy is growing at approx. 9.9% per year... so I'm thinking, worst case scenario; if Chinese economic growth was to slow by half to around just 5% per year, their population of 1.4 billion would still over the long term place strong demand forces on already tight supplies... which makes me think the longer-term bull cycle in Commodities is still intact.
Also, the LME and NYMEX Copper inventories are still very, very low...
May 31/06 - Worldwide Zinc supply getting tight...
“I was just in Hong Kong,” Chris told me, “and while I was there, I met up with a friend of mine who’s the manager of several Kohler plants in China. He told me they’re having trouble with zinc… they can’t find it anywhere.”
Chris continued: “At first I didn’t pay much attention. But then at dinner that night, I sat next to a guy from my MBA class. He’s an investment banker with UBS Warburg. He says all the traders at Warburg are buying zinc like crazy and that the zinc price is about to run. But get this...
On the plane back from Shanghai, we start chatting to the lady in the seat next to us. It turns out she manages a plant in Chicago for one of the large office supply retailers. She said she’d been in China visiting factories. We told her we had been doing the same thing. We asked her how her trip went - if she’d had any problems sourcing materials for her plant – and she told us she did. She couldn’t get hold of any zinc!”

I just watched a show on TV about the Cerro Rico mine (it didn't say anything about FMNJ) ... it was a documentary about the current tough living conditions at the mine... here's a link to the show that just ran tonight...
http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/devilsminer/
IMO... it's becuase of the current tough working conditions at Cerro Rico that FMNJ has a chance at the JV with the Bolivian Miners Union... becuase if everything down there at the mine (ie: safety & efficiency) was already A#1 top notch caliber, they wouldn't need help from FMNJ, or any other Miner for that matter.
As I've said before, this Cerro Rico Silver deal is as much about helping people as it is about Silver mining.

The number of larger diameter pipelines (10 inches or greater) that were damaged has risen to 101 from 64.

It is likely that additional damage will be reported as underwater damage assessments are completed. These have been delayed because of overwhelmed support resources, such as diving equipment, support vessels, and remotely operated vehicles, but we are moving ahead as expeditiously as possible under the circumstances.”

Yes, and now that there is no longer M3 reporting as of March 23/06...

... Gold has been acting like it's a new defacto M3 yardstick.
You can see from this chart.... that since the day the FED discontinued reporting M3 (March 23/06) Gold has been acting like it a new M3 measurement (and it has alot of catching up to do)...
The current value of all the gold in the world approximates $2.5 trillion. US gold which is supposed to approximate 261 million ounces is worth roughly $135 billion. We say “supposed to” because the gold hasn’t been audited for a very long time and with all the gold leasing that has gone on over the past 20 years it is very unlikely that everyone is still holding the gold they claim. Comparing this with the US only M3 money supply - $10 trillion and the world bond market - $35 trillion, and gold would have to appreciate over 18 times or $9306 per ounce...
... Jason Hommel of goldismoney.com uses the M3 figure of $10 trillion and divides it by the 261 million ounces and comes up with $38,314 per ounce which I believe will ultimately be closer than my two conservative targets.

Iran signs its own death warrant...
Last week, Iran's oil ministry granted a license to establish an Iranian oil bourse on the Gulf island of Kish, an economic free zone, to price and trade oil in the Euro, not in the dollar. If FMNJ can enter into a secure Joint-Venture contract with COMIBOL for Cerro Rico, I think FMNJ could then move itself forward substantially (and quickly)....
another letter-of-intent news release regarding COMIBOL may keep the consolidation going with a small upward bias... but any meaningful move will come with a non-subject J.V. contract...
FMNJ price/chart looks like it is now at the point where investors need a greater degree of certainty to go explosive again, more so now with the Bolivian Energy Politics.
