Hi amohedas, I am glad the chart posting is functional here at iHub.
I have no idea about other sites. When I was maintaining my own site, I used to post some of the StockCharts charts, with permission. Each situation is unique. I am happy we can post charts here.
Cush
Thanks Frank. I hope that helps some of the people trying to post charts.
If you ever have time, perhaps you could go though the steps you are using one by one for everyone.
Cush
For anyone who hasn't noticed, this site notice is in the current News Letter posted on the StockCharts.com site.
DAY-LONG SITE OUTAGE LOOMING - As part of our server room expansion project, we will soon need to physically move all of our computer equipment from its current location into a new temporary space. If everything goes as planned (hard to know right now), we will move all of our equipment next Saturday, October 28th. During the time we are moving stuff, the site will be offline. Please watch the "What's New" area of the site for specific details and plan accordingly. While painful, once the expansion project is complete, we will have three times more power and cooling capacity (critical for servers) than we do now.
Hi Annie. Please stay patient. I'm still sick. For anyone who has sent me email recently - that's why no reply.
Cush
Annie, sorry to not reply this past weekend. Been sick, and away from my computer. Starting to recover. I'll try to re-visit posting charts sometime soon. Maybe next weekend.
Cush
Hi oo_buck, this is the sort of problem that you should contact Support at StockCharts.com with.
When these problems arose in the past (few years ago), it was usually related to the Java version loaded on your computer, but don't mess with anything on my word. Ask Support and see if they have any suggestions for you. You might want to identify the Java version you are using and put that in your message to Support.
Any one else have any ideas that might help?
Cush
Hi Annie, it has been awhile since I have posted charts.
Later today, or over the weekend, I will post some to remind myself how to do it. I'll talk to you then.
Cush
Frank, I reported the problem we were seeing this morning, but this has to be one of the worst type of problems to solve - the inconsistent one.
Cush
Hi Frank, I haven't experienced any more problems today, but I am going to send something in to Support.
Cush
Seems fine now. Both auto-refresh and regular loading. For me, with my system, at least.
Cush
Hi secwin, I am having inconsistent loading this morning.
Auto-refresh is not loading well, but that may be my system.
However, I am having inconsistent loading of other charts, too.
For some reason, it appears to affect the TSE index, or maybe that's just because that is what I watch mostly.
If it continues, I will send a report in to Support.
Cush
Hi USDollar, it takes two to tango.
To get a reply, some things have to happen.
1st - someone has to have enough interest in the scan being sought to spend their time trying to create it, and then answering the poster.
2nd - that someone has to have an idea of how to create the post, or enough interest to want to discuss it with the poster.
3rd - that someone has to want to respond to the poster.
For the most part, I don't have the time to work with other people's scans, these days. I am interested because I have found there is always something to learn when trying to create a scan, but no time right now.
As we have seen, there are some excellent, thoughtful people posting on this forum. If you haven't received a response, it may be because of one of the three above reasons.
Here's a tip from someone who has been actively involved in forums for the past ten years - people seem more ready to get involved if the original poster shows how he or she has attempted to create the scan.
Good Luck with this.
Cush
Hi Mac, you'll never know until you enter into some dialogue about TA or scans.
The forum is here for all seasons and reasons.
I wanted somewhere subscribers to StockCharts could share ideas about Technical Analysis, Scans, and the StockCharts' features, but I also saw a need for somewhere we could check if we were having problems accessing the StockCharts site or some of the features. Here, a subscriber can find out (almost immediately) if a problem is with the site or his/her personal system.
I would welcome renewed dialogue about TA and Scans. Go for it.
Cush
Hi Alan, everything seems to be working for me.
On their web site they have posted this under What's New on the Member's Page.
30-Sept: IMPORTANT! We will be upgrading more networking equipment today (Saturday) throughout the day. Expect the site to go offline for brief periods from now until about 8pm Eastern.

Hi Montana, "shout" is what you do when you post all in capitals, like your original post.
I would be happy to work at StockCharts as I have learned a ton about Technical Analysis from Chip Anderson and John Murphy, but I am just a trader who likes the service they provide.
That doesn't mean that I am always happy with things, just a little more tolerant sometimes.
Cush
Hi Montana, any interruption to the smooth flow of charts is aggravating. Feel free to vent here, but please don't shout at the rest of us.
Please let us know if you get a response from StockCharts.
For everyone, again - if you send a report into StockCharts, try to be specific about the problem. "Charts don't work." is not very helpful. Sort of like telling a mechanic that the "Car won't work." To find and solve the problem, more information is usually helpful.
Cush
Hi Trader, I received that error message this morning.
If anyone has reported it (and I expect some of you have), let us know if you get a response.
Cush
Montana, my charts are loading fine. If you are a subscriber and are having a problem, the appropriate way to let StockCharts know about it is to send a "Problem Report" in to Support, on the Support page at StockCharts' site.
For everyone -
This is a Subscriber's forum. I started this forum, and the one at Silicon Investor, so Subscribers would have a place to share ideas. It is also a place to vent, as everyone needs that once in awhile. As for repetitive whining - that gets tedious.
If the site goes down, or the charts aren't loading, or anything else similar happens, this is a place to find out if the problem is at StockCharts end, at the individual's end, or somewhere in between.
Good luck with your investing everyone.
Cush
Hi secwin, On Auto-refresh, I am having a problem, too.
I have been having trouble with my ISP (Sympatico) connection, so I thought that was causing it, and it may be.
Left to itself, Auto-refresh is giving me the small square with the red X.
I have to go out. If this continues, and if you have time, the best way to alert StockCharts to the problem is to send a note in to Support.
Cush
Hi John, the only way that I know of to handle the new ticker symbol is to recreate each individual chart. That will not help you with the annotations you may have had on the old symbol's charts.
Maybe someone has had experience with a similar issue, and has a better idea.
Cush
Hi Razal, the first one -
Is there anyway to scan for stocks that end on the high of the day?
In the Standard Scan Engine.
Set the Close (under Additional Technical Expressions) equal to the High.
For the second one -
Where the intraday surpass the opening?
Set the Open to be less than the Close.
On an intraday scan, the close is when the scan is being performed.
This second scan will need other qualifiers, or you will generate way too many hits.
Hope that helps.
Cush
Hi pilgrim. Makes me feel like John Wayne saying that.
Money Flow Index. Does seem like it would be a worthwhile addition to the Standard Scan Engine. You could try sending a Comment/Suggestion under the Support Feedback page.
http://stockcharts.com/help/doku.php?id=support:feedback
I am glad you found the Scan Library useful. It hasn't been updated in quite a while, but for some people, it may be a useful place to start.

Have a good one,
Cush
Hi LoDo, just now looking at some charts. Ran a few scans.
The scan engine is working well this evening.
Cush
Hi USDollar,
I know you were asking earlier, but I am just now looking at some charts. As of now, everything seems fine.
Cush
Hi positiontrader, I know you posted that late this afternoon, and I don't know how things were working then.
Right now - charts seem to be loading faster than normal for me.
Cush
Hi Benjtsao. To display several tickers and their ADX,-D and +D charts in one screen, you could use the Candleglance View on one of your Favorites Lists.
Candleglance is one of the choices beside the names of the Favorites Lists.
When this view comes up, you will have to select Wilder's DMI (ADX) as an indicator. Usually I go with the default value of 14.
Is that what you had in mind?
Cush
Hi sf. You would get a better answer from someone who actually knew the answer.
I don't invest in or follow mutual funds.
Didn't even know they could be tracked by StockCharts.com., if they can be.
So I am not much help.
Maybe these posts will cause someone who knows to give you some help.
Cush
Hi Ben, regarding missing symbols.
Whether you mean that the symbols were working and now are not, or you would like to see symbols added, -
the way to do this is through the Support link on the StockCharts.com site.
See instructions here-
http://stockcharts.com/FAQ-Data.html#addstock
Cush
Hi december. Wrong board. This is a forum for discussing issues relating to StockCharts.com.
Cush
Hi fructose, Deleting symbols from a Favorites List using the Edit function.
As you mentioned, you can check whatever stocks you want to remove.
Then go to "Move To"- the top item on the drop down menu is "Trash".
Is that what you were looking for?
Cush
Hi Joseph, I am able to log in, as usual.
Cush
Makin Cash - unless things have changed - you can load charts into posts here at iHub, but not at Silicon Investor.
I know it is all the same now, but if that has changed - great, I didn't know it had.
Cush
Frenchee, if you are talking about the Murphy Subscriber Book Discount coupon code, there is a link in the What's New Section of the Member's Page.
Cush
Hi guys. Weekly scans.
Using the Standard Scan Engine, under the Additional Technical Expressions section, where it says Days click on that and select Weeks.
If you want to see that expression in the Advanced User Interface, then after you have created it in the Standard Engine, click the Update Criteria button, and then click on the Advanced User Interface button. The Standard Engine scan will be translated for you into the Advanced User Interface format.
That is it. There is no similar feature for Monthly.
Cush
Hi Bob. Hope you get the problem resolved quickly.
Like you say, it sounds like it is problem at your end, and those can be hard to diagnose and fix.
Good luck,
Cush
Bob, I know it is too late to talk about last night.
Right now, the Standard Scan Engine seems to be working correctly.
Cush
Hi razal. When you include a Simple Moving Average on a chart, you are selecting the SMA for the period of the chart.
So, on a Daily chart, a 5 period SMA is a 5 day Simple Moving Average.
On a Weekly chart, the 5 period SMA becomes a 5 week SMA.
On a Monthly chart, the 5 period SMA becomes a 5 month SMA.
Some people believe that Weekly signals (on Weekly charts) indicate stronger, more reliable trends than Daily signals (on Daily charts).
In my case, I watch both the Daily and Weekly charts. I prefer to invest in stocks with Weekly charts that show a rising trend.
You can scan for Weekly crosses in the Standard Scan Engine. In the Additional Technical Expressions section the Days can be changed to Weeks by clicking on the menu and selecting Weeks.
Does that help?
Cush
Hi Razal. Explain that to me again.
I'm looking for a formula to track the 5day sma crossing the 10sma on a weekly chart. Is there a way to scan for that.
That's a 5 day sma - right?
crossing a 10 (day?) sma?
or crossing a 10 (week?) sma?
Regardless of which of those you are looking for, I don't know of a way to show a Daily Moving Average on a Weekly chart.
The Standard scan engine will allow you to enter a scan that checks for a Daily SMA cross over a Weekly SMA, but I don't know how you would verify that it worked when you can't combine Daily and Weekly SMA data on one chart.
Anyone else have any ideas about this?
Please feel free to correct me if I missed something.
Cush
Annotation seems to be working fine for me.
How exactly was it not working for you?
Cush
Hi clip, about price labels and buy & sell indicators:
We are all searching for that "greatest timing tool ever". If anyone has found something that works every time, then they are keeping it to themselves. And probably doing their trading as they move between their Aspen and Hawaii homes.
The price labels are likely programmed to appear after certain time intervals and based on parameters that likely were never intended to be used for timing the market.
But that doesn't necessarily mean they couldn't be used.
For my trading, my first experience with TA was using Moving Averages. I have evolved my own system that now involves Moving Averages, DMI lines, MACD, and Stochastic - with Chaikin Money Flow thrown in, and intuition. My biggest gains and biggest losses have been when I have used intuition. But I constantly struggle to eliminate it from my trading.
It seems to me that Price Labels identify what has happened. I don't think they were ever intended to help predict what would happen.
However, if you ever get them to work the way you have been trying to, send us a note from the beach.
Cush
PS: A really great book that helped me a lot, and is always somewhere around my desk, is "Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets" by John Murphy.
