It wasn't a test flight but a float test.
Most likely done in the hanger, while tethered.
Seem to recollect this has already been done once before last year ?
A picture is worth a thousand words I (Manys) O !!
I think a short drive to Luxembourg would be more convenient, necessary and beneficial!!!
Not sure why anyone would want to attend an exibition conference in France unless they anticipated doing business there and spoke fluent French ..........
Yep,

DCN a rollercoaster today LOL
Hi QT,
LLEG an add ?
blurb courtesy of Stockprofits board
Laidlaw energy (LLEG) was founded in 1999 with the objective of pursuing development and acquisition opportunities in the distributed power generation sector. in addition to acquisitions, lleg has developed the strategy of converting small fossil fuel fired facilities with dedicated steam hosts to alternative fuel sources – an innovative strategy recognized by the new york state energy research and development authority (nyserda) when it recently awarded Laidlaw energy its maximum grant award for a demonstration project of $1 million dollars, along with three other projects submitted by fortune 500 applicants siemens, northern power and the new york times company. a copy of governor george pataki’s press release announcing the grant can be found here:
http://www.state.ny.us/governor/press/year04/june24_4_04.htm
Laidlaw energy’s first fuel conversion project is an innovative renewable energy project located in cattaraugus county, new york. the renewable energy project involves the conversion of the Laidlaw energy & environmental natural gas cogeneration facility to utilize clean “wood biomass” or wood chips as its fuel source. upon completion of the conversion to wood biomass, the facility will generate approximately 7 megawatts of electric output, of which approximately 6 megawatts will be exported to the grid pursuant to a long-term contract with the local utility. the remaining 1 mw will be utilized at the facility by a related lumber business, that will also use the excess heat and steam from the generation facility in order to custom kiln dry hardwood lumber. aside from the production of green energy and the creation of a significant number of well-paying jobs, the conversion of this facility to wood biomass will eliminate the use of approximately 350 million cubic feet of natural gas per annum and neutralize the production of green house gases by the facility.
all wood biomass utilized by the facility will be “clean, source separated, unadulterated wood waste”, consistent with new york department of environmental conservation (dec) regulations. such clean wood waste will mainly be comprised of ground pallets, whole tree chips, wood residue from local furniture manufacturers and other similar forms of wood waste. lleg has worked closely with dec during the development process of the fuel conversion project in order to ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal environmental regulations.
wood biomass is abundant in the buffalo area where the plant is situated, since many local businesses generate a significant number of pallets that are used to receive, store and transport products. many of these pallets end up in landfills or as a waste byproduct from remanufacturing. a substantial amount of wood chips are also generated from land clearing and as a waste product by furniture manufacturers and lumber mills. in order to capitalize on the abundant wood waste within close proximity to the facility, lleg has negotiated a long-term fuel supply agreement with cousineau forest products to provide wood chips for the facility. cousineau has been providing biomass boiler fuel to power plants and paper mills in the northeast for over 40 years. headquartered in strong, maine, cousineau is interested in expanding into western new york and views a relationship with lleg as a vehicle for that expansion. lleg’s agreement with cfp, which provides for 100% of the facility’s fuel requirement, also eliminates the need to manage numerous supply agreements with smaller wood chip sources, thus eliminating the pitfalls of dealing with smaller and potentially less reliable sellers.
Laidlaw energy has a strong management team, with nearly 100 years of combined energy industry experience. lleg’s plant manager and project engineer have been involved with the ellicottville facility since it commenced operations in 1990 and lleg’s project manager has over 20 years of wood biomass experience and holds a patent on close-coupled wood gasification. moreover, lleg will be assisted via its partnership with nyserda, who will oversee the construction of the fuel conversion project and adherence to environmental regulations and performance expectations.
Laidlaw energy believes that the conversion of the facility to wood biomass is a winning strategy and a blueprint for future projects. in the case of the ellicottville facility, conversion to wood biomass will dramatically reduce the facility’s operating costs, while allowing for increased electric capacity and the production of heat and steam for kiln drying hardwood at highly competitive prices. lleg believes this strategy can be replicated in order to convert other facilities rendered uneconomic by high fossil fuel prices or as an alternative to coal generation, which can often result in significant hazardous emissions.
Have PM you Investo
Thanks Investo,
Getting more interesting by the day !
Everything comes to he who waits .......
Please do post the list Will,
Would certainly be interesting to watch.
Thanks

Could it be that 'THE Toxic financer' is under investigation and has to keep his hands out or be damned ?!!
Thanks I understand,
But do you know what kind of window can be expected usually over Edwards to avoid the jetstream ?
There is no way a HAAPs can survive ending up over the atlantic if it gets into 100 -200 kt jetstream @ 40,000 odd feet I wouldn't have thought.
Incidentally and a more general board question.
Does anyone know what propulsion they are using since the departure of Kestrel ?
Airman,
A major consideration has got to be the jet stream.
It usually either sweeps down the Pacific coast before turning for the east coast or comes in over the coast as 2 streams before coming together over mainland USA.
Is it possible to launch from Edwards without being affected by the jet stream ?
(They have declared they are going for an altitude record)

'We'll see soon enough how this all plays out. Obviously no one is certain---aren't you surprised that we recovered as much as we did today?'
Frankly yes I am suprised at the pps holding
As I am also suprised with the spin and denial about this quite significant event.
I sincerely hope I am wrong
GLTY
Actually yes,
From handling the finances of rather large International contracts like Airports.
To all and none
Sir Chris Meyer has resigned as Chairman of the Board.
Within 5 months of his appointment.
Yes he does remain, for the time being, on the BOD.
There is speculation that
1) He is wanted in his prior diplomatic role by the UK (doubtful after what he said about Blair in his book)
2)Travel between Florida and the UK ! (Was it anymore a problem than when he was in Washington ? And wasn't that considered 6 months ago before he took the appointment? + seems the UK is nearer to GTE's main busines anyway. Besides who said he didnt have a residence in the US as well ?)
3) He remains on the board for the time being as damage control and until a replacement is found.
But why do you think he doesn't want to be COB anymore ?
Now from my experience if you have $600 M in a Bank and want to eneter into a contract your depository Bank issues a Bank Guarantee to be drawn down against performance guarantees and Letters of Credit.
I suspect we will know the reason shortly but doubtless the ultimatum was
I will give you until Friday ......................
Friday came and went it seems.

Thanks Rattlewatch,
Suprised a project like this isn't given some R & D money.
Had a bit of an edycation today listening to T Boone Pickens.
The guy seems to have a real insight to energy prices and where energy is heading.
What suprised me was he said that nothing was gained by adding ethanol to gasoline.
He said the reduction in Gasoline efficiency outwayed the savings.
Hummm
GLTY too and thanks again
Now there's an idea Speeds,
Lets Gordon Gecko it and ship the operation to China !
Like it...
Try the following for some mentoring,

Ken Goodrich
Wizetrader
There are more but see how you go there

Glad someone's getting serious about ethanol.
I see the Gov. has given oil co's a 'royalty holiday' worth $7bn !
Now that shows a committment to oil !

I have looked into what they are about and its very interesting.
I was prompted to think this might be viable but didnt realise someone was already there.
If nothing else I am very interested in their Stirling Engine.
Saves designing a prototype !LOL
Please keep me updated with whatever comes from your contact with the company.
Thanks again
Just finished tracking Steve Fosset's Global Flyer.
Bit of a cliffhanger for the past 18 hours as he was low on fuel.
Then virtually at the last minute before landing in the UK he called a mayday. His generator failed.
Diverted to Bournmouth for an emergency landing he burst 2 tyres on touching down.
But he made it !
Great stuff - and what a relatively efficient engine that Williams is !
27,000 miles in 72 hours.
And all the press and ground crew and Richard Branson at the wrong airport LOL !
Thanks Rattlewatch,
Thank goodness somebody is pursueing it.
Will check the site out.
Thanks QT,
Considering the Stirling engine was invented nearly 100 years ago I find it remarkable to it has not been utilized.
It is simple, clean and quite.
Interesting QT,
Seems an unneccesary complication though. Converting natural gas to hydrogen.
I cant quite understand why we dont have vehicles which will run on gasoline or gas.
The Dutch have been running vehicles converted to do this for years now.
I am still trying to find out more about the Nevada Solar Project.
Seems to me its talking about powering a steam turbine with solar energy.
Interesting.
I wonder too if solar could be used to power a Stirling engine?
The reference to 'thin film' solar panels is interesting too.
They claim to have a first, but Iowa Thin Film has been 'printing' these panels for some time. They are marketing a portable roll up panel in varying sizes. (I have not been able to find out if they are a listed or private company.
They are the ones proposed to help power GTE's Strat.
Do you know off any company involved with utilizing the Stirling engine BTW ?
Ola Urano,
Interesting.
Think you might get an edge playing Franfurt.
Am due down in Barcelona in April.
Its warmer weather then !!
GLTY and gracias
Buenos diaz Urano,
As a matter of interest to me personally, do you trade GTE on the German (Berlin/Frankfurt) exchanges or US ?
regards
Have a good w/e Low,
Thanks for those charts today and yesterday.
They are appreciated.
An still consolidating them into the the mix.
I am also still contemplating your take on the ADX and its contrary significance.
Is that an accepted rule ?
Your chart leading into yestedays press article interestingly also shows action before hitting the DJ subscibers. Supposedly there were some with preview privaleges !!
HI QT
Need to add IAUS to the board maybe ?
A very interesting couple of days trading on this since the announcement of a contract for a solar generator installation.

"Lockheed Martin is testing a small-scale airship as part of an internal research and development effort," Lockheed spokeswoman Dianne Knippel said.
The large white airship is shaped somewhat differently from a traditional blimp, with twin torpedo-like sections joined in the center and a cockpit beneath. Four airlifters move the vehicle on the ground and in the air.
.........................................................
Seems they dont learn from past mistakes. !
From Per Linstrand in 1998
In the early beginnings of the co-operation Sky Station worked on a small-scale model of Dr. Wong's Corona Ion engine. The airship concept was an unworkable twin hull design linked with a large flat section. LBL immediately advised Sky Station that this was totally unworkable and suggested a conventional single hull driven by a propeller/electric motor. It was evident that the Corona Ion engine would never deliver the required thrust.
Humm,
Nothing like telegraphing ones intentions and then wonder why the limited market which was developing was dead today.
Oh well .....
Interesting Low,
I went back on TNOG for the past 3 years.
It seems to have a season starting around March.
I think a flutter is called for !
Are you in yet BTW?
GLTY
Dunno Mide,
I thought that exchange kinda encouraging.
Showed some guilt, embarrasement -in short the guys human as opposed to the Enrons.
What we see though is a need to strengthen middle managment.
We identified today a PR/IR problem.
There are a few good men either here or have passed through this board who would be good candidates for instance.
(What a good move !)
What is also needed also is a Contracts Manager with global experience of biggi contracts.
They may have moved to the AMEX but there appear to be big gaps. Particularly as stated 'moving from a research/tech CO to a 'sales Co'. (Bob Jones I am afraid doesnt hack it as a Saleman)
Middle management needs to be taken on ASAP. and the language of International business understood. Only in a few places do US rules rule business wise. Who wants a class action ?
Russians have great expertise of running against a regime to survive. The Black Market is a consequence and the 'ethics' learned there. (another poster said as much today)
What I found was a total lack of personal responsiblity. This was the result of being regimented to an extreme which allowed the 'State' to take the blame of failure and not personally.
Its quite ingrained in a couple of generations.
It aint easy getting a contract done out of your own 'home town' lawyer environment where there is no personal jurisdiction.
For instance where is the dispute venue/forum ?
What I cant understand is ( a rerun ) why Globetel even consider 'onshoring' this deal. It could all be put to bed in Europe. As I said I thought it was appreciated long ago hence setting up a Lux co..
I wish Tim would just put out a shareholders letter at the end of each month. He only has to guide, approve and sign it.
(After passing it through Chris Meyer- no disrespect Sir Chris! my son is Sir Chris too !
I want a Dick Branson here.
Just having a brew and stopped biting my tongue for a couple of days is all !
The best to you and all.......
Holein,
I think most here appreciate your position at present but might be reluctant to forecast at this time.
Having said that, a mildly encouraging day to see the market stabilizing and green.
Seems your not the only one facing a call.
Low's board and his advice is your best bet.
Good luck to you by the way.
An excellent suggestion and solution.
That candle looks more like a stick of dynamite or a rocket with a lit fuse.
All depending on the Co either restoring or loosing further cred.
That will test the bottom or top.
I guess TA is still out the window and sentiment rules.
JMO
Moving on air it seems. 30K shares traded is all.
Have you got the rest Speedy ? LOL
Spreads awful though !
Appreciate both you guys sharing,
Still learning - hopefully always will be !
Enjoyed the sentiment
Thanks
That is all ! LOL
GLT you both
If anything I hope he realises that its past caring for most of us.

Without the prospect of a $600M contract.
yes there was the prospect of a Strat in flight
and that is on the cards again
but given the definative statements from the CEO
Some might say 'oversold'...........
TA is out of the window IMO for the next week, TA doesnt count.
I too (besides Low) dont understand why shorts didnt cover @ 2.85 when so much is in the air. (No pun intended !)
This is (not for the first time) an act of faith/emotional play in GTE as in Apple Google (a little more difficult) or Microsoft.
I noted particularly one poster who had 'several' thousand shares but didnt know (or care) what SP or TA mean, refreshing to say the least.
If nothing else I will tell you that IF GTE doesn't get the last mile, then sure as eggs are eggs, someone else will, and its going to be very similar tech to the Strat.
One of the adages we all read is 'dont fall in love with a stock'.
Thats not quite true.
What we do is fall in love with a technology that is promising, out of the box, brave and plausable.
Meanwhile I have a cure for cancer.
But you wouldn't believe me !
.............
Just try and keep a little in reserve. That the longs are 2/3rds above the PPS means HOLD.
And those that aren't
Take advantage

Thats all !!

He's not very Christian it seems or civil even !
Not worth the time.
