4X..seems Dell/Seagate/Wave solution is making some waves and getting some response from the software encryption industry! Maybe we can take advantage of this..or are we already as busy as we can be..?
Snacks did you attend the SRA meeting..?
So does all of this mean Wave is closer to closing HP than we may have thought?
Wouldn't it make sense that if Intel has been part of this (trusted computing) early on..and Wave has worked with them..that Intc including the tpm in their chips means they would atleast understand the technology well enough to know they need it in their own IT department...? What a testimony that would be..
Lockheed to get FBI bio contract Maybe OT

There should be a way ( don't know if anyone from Wave monitors this board) for disenchanted stock holders to voice their concerns outside of voting their shares...and only once a year at a SHM...the tone here of many longtime longs and the ones who understand this technology much better than I has turned more than sour I suspect.
It looks like it was DPS in March of last year where Seagate announced the FDE....this years should be fun..and to think we really only have a month under our belt with the fde being SFI at Dell on the latitudes..
No one wants to get in front of the possible pipe! volume is weak..
would be nice to get confirmation of Awk's numbers SKS dropped..
Snacks weren't you in attendance yesterday? fill us in..tia
That would explain the larger number Awk is posting..also I remember Steven saying that Seagate had projected 2 million fde first year..and Steven said ..lets say its a million ..This was not at this presentation...
No he said they had renegotiated a better price, but I did not hear a price..and it goes thru 2011 He later said that mere bundling would be ten million in 08...
Listened again to the presentation and Awk's comment must have come from breakout session or some conversation Steven had with an individual..also get the impression that the large tech manufacturer with 150,000 endpoints is INTC ..if only one large company like this a month signs on...then the build of deliverable monthly add ons grows very nicely..we just need that 800 pound gorilla to come forward publicly..
If Seagate has production restraints on supplying the fde drives wouldn't Dell go out to all of the major military/govt suppliers and military agencies ...and take orders for equipment on an as available basis..ie if Boeing is buying fde.2 and tdm....then all of their competitors and the govt agencies would want this as soon as they can get it and budget allows...NIKE calls this futures..
they get a hot item and either have production restraints or cultivate production restraints..allowing for preselling and control of pricing..am i missing something here?

Can someone help my memory...When ( or what show/summit) did Seagate have all the press about the fde? I think it was around las t September...tia
For what its worth..the difference that has been pointed out to me is that Wave is in the box on the Dell, NEC and hopefully other machines...
I asked isn't this what Wave does?
It is. Seagate has previously announced other ISVs who support the FDE drive.
Wave’s strategy is to ship our software with the PC OEM who are shipping FDE drives so that there are no FDE drives which don’t already have software to support them. Most of the other software companies do not have business models for working with PC OEMs and shipping bundled software.
Data protection summit..forgive me if this was posted...the presenting companies is an interesting list..

There was a different tone to yesterdays presentation..and Steven didn't sound like he was really selling as much as educating..I think you may be correct that the financing is either done, or not needed and he had to fulfill the commitment..No real talk of each market sales or potential,,just the product...
That with some real sales/earnings and they will come a callin!
Lets take a wag and say 417000 which equals 5 million a year..half of what Steven guessed Dell ships in laptops annually.. so 100000 per month fde would be roughly 25 per cent of those and only 12 per cent of total laptops..is that reasonable..? also Steven said he has had the fde on his laptop for almost a year..The Dell reps and Wave and Seagate have been out selling this longer than since January or last week of December..especially to military and large accounts..However we know this is Wave and Steven..so we need to fudge way to the left of the scale
How many latitudes does Dell sell a month?
He also has mentioned a large tech company more than once...150,000 would be quite large...Nice to hear Army and Sec of Defense's Office..
Did you get the impression Steven was really putting an emphasis on INTC...
Dell inhouse alone should be able to keep us afloat for a qtr..don't you think...How many salespeople does Dell have with laptops...?
He mentioned Dell shipping ten million laptops, and if I caught it right a eventual 50% fde upsale,,,and he did say 85% attachment of Wave....now will that number hold with the increase in volume..who knows ,,however your numbers are spot on...
I think we all feel unloved to some degree...and unfortunately we don't know the answer as to how many of the pipeline have bought and how many have not or will not.>? and if you ask that question of anyone at Wave they cannot give you a clear number unless it is a formal announcement/full puclic disclosure..and I would think they would have done this if they could..however there may be some clarification on this issue this afternoon..at the SRA presentation
Why do you think these are not linked...has the TCG not done its job promoting this idea..?
Escrow there would need to be examples of lost sales for your premise to work..I agree sales are the driver , but unless someone else is getting Wave's share of the market we just don't have enough info to know..!
There you go...so if FDE is ten per cent that would be more like 1.5+per month..what is 20m..
I knew that..sorry...but that is still not large numbers for Seagate...don't they ship over 100million units annually..so theres a ramp...Come to think of it..the Army could eat up 20,000 a week for a little while
if the supply is that restricted,,,the proverbial dam will birst at some point..Can Dell and Seagate manage this to only their advantage or will someone like HP jump in? Can other drive suppliers (thats why I mentioned them) make up the advantage Seagate has? 20000 a month is nothing to these guys shipping tons and tons of drives.
and could they sell 40000 a week if they were available.? Why wouldn't WDC jump in with both feet...
If fde.2 and security are pushing sales of pc's Dell would know ahead of the industry, and this puts a lot more light on the gphone if Dell is involved, and big IF security is prime or one of the prime features..?
Well in that case .thanks: )
Just like the Dell seagate thing eh! I don't think Wave would be educating and instructing Dell's sales staff weekly if there were not sales being made, and value added by Wave?
Spending for IT security ground in federal budget

Exactly it would be "cool" if Dell did expand the Worlds Most Secure offerings to include a wireless device like a g phone.? guess we will learn more Monday..
FWIW there is a video at street.com about an invitation to view the first android device at the Mobile show in Europe monday..ARM is doing the inviting..still question as to whom the manuf is
This is what is being called the G phone./.for Google phone.
That could be a nice thought in that no dilution, confidence in cash flow/$$$, orders etc going forward..and would possible give institutions and new investors some confidence to step in..would be best if this is done with a decent announcement of new customer and preferably some $$$ to go with it..
