Did Neom buy the PriceGrabber licensing agreement with the patents?
Might explain why PriceGrabber owns the word Printer.
and why Neomedia paid 1.5.

KK London, UK: Do you think there is a business model to monetise price comparison sites on mobile technology? If so, how would you build the business model and why ?
Kamran Pourzanjani: We already provide our users with access to our site via WAP and PocketPC enabled devices - a service we've offered for several years. The business model is fairly similar, in that like a referral made from our website to a merchant's website, the user of our mobile application is connected via telephone to the merchant.

MSN Shopping To Add PriceGrabber Listings
by Shankar Gupta, Tuesday, Jun 14, 2005 6:00 AM EST
COMPARISON SHOPPING SITE PRICEGRABBER.COM AND MSN formed a strategic partnership to add the shopping site's listings and review database onto MSN's shopping vertical site. The partnership, which hasn't yet gone live, was signed earlier this month.
"We're all about linking consumers up with the right merchants and the right products," said Chris Jolley, MSN Shopping's consumer programming director. "It's about expanding the kind of content that consumers are looking for when they're looking for purchases online, whether it's more selections or more information about the selection."
The new listings will go into effect before the fourth quarter, Jolley said, and are part of MSN's preparations for the end-of-year holiday shopping frenzy. The deal with PriceGrabber will add millions of listings to MSN's shopping categories, including home and garden, apparel, consumer electronics, and entertainment.
The listings gleaned from PriceGrabber will also include reviews from PriceGrabber's users. Jolley said that it was not yet clear whether or not MSN users would be able to add their own reviews to the PriceGrabber listings.
According to Jolley, PriceGrabber's reviews were one of the key selling points for closing the deal. "The reviews' functionality is a great addition to what we currently offer on MSN," he said. "This alliance is about the information that they supply us regarding the products in their database, and the PriceGrabber listings will come with the reviews."

Gosh. I've been trying to catch up on all the posts. It seems so much has been happening since I was able to last visit. (We have had some very serious illness to cope with in my family. Makes me once again realise how lucky we all are to have loved ones. Lets all never forget that even in the midst of our obsession for Neom!)
It looks also like wooger has been inundated with email addresses... I wonder what an eventual email list of true longs would be worth as an entrepreneurial opportunity, considering the capabilities of many on this board. I hope we all keep track of one another over the years.
Now, one piece of hopefully positive news from me. (Although this may have been posted yet - so apologies if so. I have not really caught up on everything yet.)
You may remember I was concerned a few weeks back about one of Neom's partners - Aura, as they recently linked up with Hypertag. Well it seems like they are launching Paperclick sometime in July!

Good news for Asia-Pacific. Let's see what'll happen locally too in July.
GO Neom, it's time for REAL success - at long last - and you certainly deserve it.

IBM, Microsoft Collide on Collaboration
By Dennis Callaghan
February 4, 2005
IBM's and Microsoft's collaboration software strategies are headed for a collision this spring when they pit, respectively, all-in-one products against integrated, a la carte offerings.
Microsoft Corp., in the first half of the year, plans to ship its LCS (Live Communications Server) 2005 for instant messaging and Web conferencing; its Live Communications Client, code-named Istanbul; and an updated version of its Live Meeting hosted Web conferencing service.
ADVERTISEMENT Click here for a review of Microsoft's Live Communications Server 2005.
At about the same time, IBM's Lotus Software division plans to ship Lotus Workplace Collaboration Services 2.5, which offers e-mail, calendaring, IM, team collaboration, electronic learning, Web conferencing, and document and Web content management in a single product.
New per-CPU licensing is designed to make it more affordable for customers to extend Workplace tools to users, said officials at Lotus, in Cambridge, Mass.
The upcoming battle highlights key differences between the strategies. While IBM delivers e-mail and collaboration in a single product, Microsoft, of Redmond, Wash., offers e-mail through a separate product, Exchange, part of the Windows Server Group.
Microsoft's e-mail and calendaring client, Outlook, as well as the work of its Real-Time Collaboration Group, which oversees LCS and Live Meeting, and SharePoint-branded products are all part of the Microsoft Office group.
Analysts say the battle could determine which vendor leads the markets for messaging, which Microsoft has traditionally led, and collaboration, which IBM has dominated. Market share numbers for last year won't be available until the spring.
Both companies are touting innovations in the products. Microsoft is pushing federated IM in LCS 2005, which allows interoperability with the major IM networks, plus a client supporting integrated IM, voice, video and Web conferencing.
WAKE UP IHUB!
In January, NeoMedia signed a Letter of Intent to enter a collaborative agreement to launch PaperClick? with Digital Rum Ltd., a U.K.-based provider of mobile commerce solutions. who will work with Big Gig Strategies of London, which is spearheading the launch of Paperclick and PaperClick for Nokia® Camera Cell Phones™ in Europe.
MICROSOFT IS NOW A DIGITAL RUM PARTNER!!!
HAPPY 4TH :)
Can I change my picks again?
Digital Rum & Microsoft are working together!

Digital Rum(dR), together with dR investors Cross Atlantic Capital Partners, researched the market and are convinced this service will be in demand."
"Instant Messaging and presence are playing an increasingly important role in helping information workers stay in touch with critical business contacts and make better decisions, faster," said Marc Sanders, senior product manager, Real-Time Collaboration Group, Microsoft Corp. "We are excited that Digital Rum has joined our vibrant industry partner ecosystem, building a valuable mobile service on our Microsoft Real-Time Collaboration platform that will further extend and enhance the secure Live Communications Server experience."

Has he ever mentioned Virgin?
I just get his ChangeWave teasers. TS has his own quiet period going on.
Lots of other pumps.
SRM,
No one knows about NeoMedia. Someday they will. Ask your average investor. They will reply, who?
IMO, everyone who is aware of NeoMedia is locked and loaded.
If we want the pps to move, we have to ask TS nicely.
OK, Toby, uncle.
Please Toby let her go :) LOL
Someone correct me if I'm wrong,
I don't think we will ever see the details of the terms between the two parties. They pretty much laid it on the table.
I am not suggesting you are a basher, but, arguments like this are in the bashers handbook.
Let us concentrate on the positive. THEY SETTLED!!!
Chas said Virgin will help launch the WordRegistry!!!
PVC,
You say, "I anticiapted this would happen. What did I say about peoples unrealistic expectations? People were on the knifes edge until this Virgin news broke...esp people on this board...dramtically waiting this news."
Today, I think the action has very little to do with RETAIL's "unrealistic expectations". WE don't run the PPS up or down. We either hold or try to make a few buck from those who REALLY move the PPS.
This is why I am grateful to JP and others that drive the point home, YOU MUST KNOW WHAT YOU OWN, otherwise the Evildoers :) will crush you like a grape.
JMO
100% agree. eom
Licensee 'till 2016
I think TS said Cornell MAY flip some at $1. Who cares?

IBM, Intel And Synopsys Announce Mobile Electronic Design Automation Technology Initiative For Design Engineers
ANAHEIM, Calif., June 13, 2005 – IBM, Intel Corporation and Synopsys Inc. today announced a “mobile-aware” technology initiative to bring mobile design tools to the electronic design automation (EDA) market segment, aimed at increasing the productivity and flexibility of design engineers.
Synopsys is showcasing its Discovery™ AMS solution, with NanoSim® and VCS® technology, on a mobile PC platform at Intel’s booth (# 2291) at this year’s Design Automation Conference (DAC). IBM is also showing its Integrated Electronic Design Environment Methodology Guide and Virtual Desktop on the mobile platform at the same booth. The new platform combines the strengths of Intel® Centrino™ mobile technology, IBM ThinkPad notebooks and Synopsys and IBM EDA solutions.
As part of the initiative, this year Synopsys will engage in technology and market assessment of “mobile-aware” design applications with selected customers and with support from Intel and IBM. Following a successful assessment phase, Synopsys will introduce mobile-aware EDA applications for Intel Centrino mobile technology-based platforms.
“We’re continually investigating new technologies to give our customers the EDA products and support they need for complex silicon design,” said Raul Camposano, chief technical officer at Synopsys. “By developing applications that utilize the strengths of Intel Centrino mobile technology and IBM’s ThinkPad notebooks, Synopsys is embracing the latest technological advances in order to enhance the productivity of our customers.”
“With mobile-aware EDA applications, engineers will be able to design and collaborate virtually anywhere while away from their offices,” said Guru Bhatia, IT engineering computing director, Intel Corporation. “Intel developers are currently using Intel Centrino mobile technology-based platforms for engineering and product development. An Intel pilot study shows more than a 10 percent productivity increase for design engineers on Intel Centrino mobile technology-based workstations in connected mode alone, and estimates higher productivity with connected and unconnected modes when all EDA applications are made mobile aware.”
“As engineers face intense time-to-market pressure, battle to hold development costs within budget, and still optimize their products’ functionality, they need a radical change in the way they manage the design chain, especially in the realm of nanometer design,” said Dale Hoffman, director of business development and chief technical officer, IBM’s Engineering Technology and Services division. “IBM will address these critical requirements through the deployment of solutions like the Mobile Engineering Workstation and our Integrated Electronic Design Environment (IEDE). We will demo our IBM IEDE Methodology Guide, which allows users to navigate the tools and best practices needed to design a chip, on a Synopsys Design Compiler flow at the Intel booth.”
Another significant milestone for CE-ATA at CES is the completion and distribution of a release candidate of the core protocol specification to CE-ATA members. The final 1.0 spec is on track to be ratified and published in the first half of this year as originally committed at the launch of the initiative. The first end products supporting the new technology could be available as early as late 2005.
More progress out of CES is Marvell Semiconductor's technology demonstration that illustrates key CE-ATA interface fundamentals. (Marvell's booth is located at South Hall, #35346.) Marvell's demo of a working prototype system signifies the rapid progress the organization is making toward delivering CE-ATA end products in the latter half of this year, according to Dr. Alan J. Armstrong, vice president of marketing for Marvell's Storage Division.
IBM IEDE supports mobile-aware computing technology by embracing the key components of a state-of-the-art design factory such as Synopsys’ leading-edge design tools and methodologies, assurance of best practices and policies, availability of design skills and services, on-demand IT infrastructure accessibility, and a solution-based suite.
In addition to its Discovery Verification solutions, Synopsys will demo its Design Compiler®, Formality®, PrimeTime® and VCS® products on IBM’s IEDE virtual desktop collaboration solution, as well as its Hercules™ and Proteus™ design for manufacturing solutions on 64-bit Intel® Xeon™ Processor-based compute platforms.

Santa Clara, California, USA. October 27, 2004.
NTT DoCoMo, Inc., Intel, and IBM released a new security specification called "Trusted Mobile Platform." The specification can help make advanced mobile-commerce services such as electronic tickets and e-wallets for online purchases more secure and help protect against viruses and other software attacks.
Trusted Mobile Platform has defined a set of hardware and software components that can be constructed to build devices offering different levels of security. Trusted Mobile Platform builds on well established, strong security techniques and applies them to the hardware and software architectures to define a trusted execution environment that protects the device both at boot time and during runtime.
These components function together to limit the potential damage from malicious applications and to enable a rich set of security services. In addition, Trusted Mobile Platform has defined a protocol that allows the security state of a device to be shared with other devices in the network, enabling device level trust to be extended into the larger network.
"The Trusted Mobile Platform provides a new foundation for mobile devices," said Takanori Utano, executive vice president and chief technology officer of NTT DoCoMo, Inc. "The goal of our joint research was to provide an open and secure architecture, for future wireless data services."
"This collaboration directly enhances handheld architectures to provide the trusted capabilities vital for widespread adoption of mobile commerce and enterprise usage," said Sean Maloney, executive vice president and general manager of Intel's Communications Group.
"Mobile security is more than just protecting against new viruses, worms and attacks, it's about protecting critical business assets and information," said Alistair Rennie, vice president, Sales and Marketing, IBM Pervasive Computing. "IBM is working to bring security specifications, such as the Trusted Mobile Platform, to standards bodies, with the hope security will become more embedded across a broad range of business systems."
The Trusted Mobile Platform specification incorporates the latest security technologies and controls. Through tamper-resistant modules and by enabling domain separation, a trusted platform will be able to protect data from potential viruses spreading from one application to the next. In addition, the authorization and management protocols provide companies with higher levels of security for wireless delivery of new software to employees.
Each company has contributed unique and valuable skills to the collaboration. NTT DoCoMo brings the requirements for platform integrity and security based on its knowledge of wireless networks, Intel brings its knowledge of silicon designs and expertise in architecting wireless devices, and IBM is contributing its vast experience in business security and pervasive computing.
The specification is publicly available at http://www.trusted-mobile.org/ for industry review.
