Another whiner, geezus.....
I sincerely wish you would stop your whining. Post something constructive like toe nail clipping techniques.
Barbara O'Neill; Very interesting video on the function of the liver and nutrition. Pay close attention; "Our brain needs cholesterol", yet we are driven to take statins to reduce the livers output of cholesterol? Hence the need for more naturopathic medications like Vascepa, that enhances versus hinders our bodies functions.
Errr....Enrique/Henry, I thought your name was Michael? Pretty tricky not using your real name. Why didn't I think of that...?
Pretty cool you got a response, sounds positive. Now if the Spaniards offer some free hors d'oeuvres with each Vascepa script we should be golden in "España"
Really seve...? stop the whining already, I think most of us have had enough. Sit back, take a couple tokes, maybe have a homebrew. "relax don't worry" so much about stuff that's out of your control anyway.
Seve; agreed, I voted abstain on all compensation. Why do we need a BOD anyway? What have they done for me lately?
maybe by abstaining it might send a message to the current management to quit kicking the tires and checking the dipstick. Just get with the Program.
The Term; "Working Hard" is all relative to results, which none of us has seen much of.
Good post Stockboy; Amazing it made it through the “Freedom of Speech” police though. Pretty rough language, “snakes, roaches and amoebas” yet when I called out a short, my post gets pulled.
BTW, where is little “adka?” I believe that was his board name?
I’m also amazed some folks actually responded to his lame “short” post?
Someday we’re all gonna wake up and Amarin will be history. Bought for big money.
ORBAPU, thanks for posting.
Random thoughts; The biological wonder of life is amazing. It's man's intervention that really screws things up. If only we'd let nature take it's course. Unfortunately, we don't have a cure for all cancers, diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimers, genetic defects, etc. But, sure a heck the Big Pharmaceuticals have a pill for it.
Not to mention all the sugars and chemicals contained in our foods. It's no wonder we're all wetting sicker.
This machine we call the human body can self heal itself, cuts, broken bones, broken hearts (?), fight off flus and viruses, except when it came to Smallpox brought over to the new world by the Spaniards.
Someday perhaps EPA will be recognized alongside of penicillin or aspirin. There are some discoveries mankind has discovered to prolong life, to take away pain and inflammation.
Found this article on Alzheimer's dated June 3, 2023, thought I'd share it with Y'all. Astrocyte Reactivity markers, connected to brain inflammation? Ring a Bell? What drug is great with inflammation? Anyone? Class?
https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/alzheimers-new-blood-biomarker-could-predict-risk-of-cognitive-decline#Abnormal-astrocytes-may-indicate-Alzheimers
Capt; Nice research, thanks. Chinese Population so far in 2023 is 1.455B.
So, factoring in your percentages;
10% is 145.5M patient population up to 20% which is 291M patient population with Severely High Triglycerides (SHTG). Now, if the Chinese allow Generics? Also the quality would suffer if they did allow generics. I don't think the government would allow that. Only the USA accepts inferior products from China.
You forgot to backtrack on Sarissa’s European background. I’d like to know either from you or PDud how KM was head and shoulders above Alex Denner & Company, which btw still employs Abuaf?
Boy, you really think highly of yourself. First, your absolutely sure Sarissa and company don’t know a thing about the EU.
Now, you’re an expert on Alzheimer’s and the results on Brave are not going to show efficacy.
Remind me to go the opposite direction when you make a prediction.
You're right of course;
Patient Uptake
More than 1.4 million patients have used Humira globally, according to AbbVie.
According to this link;
https://news.bloomberglaw.com/health-law-and-business/humira-rivals-set-to-try-to-drive-down-cost-of-blockbuster-drug
Can you imagine where we'd be if Vascepa had 1.4 million users?
Understand that Humira, #1 selling drug today is an injection. Humira is a painkiller, people who are in pain want and need the relief. CVD drugs that lower ones risk, not so much. People aren’t in pain, although when heart attacks, strokes occur then it gets their attention.
Come on Novartis what are you waiting for?
N7; My opinion only, but when the word "inhibitor" is used with a drug, the hair on the back of my neck stands-up. PCSK9 Inhibitor lowers LDL-C by quite a bit. My problem is, what does my body say to me and what are the long-term effects when I'm injected with it?
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9309324/#:~:text=Similar%20results%20were%20found%20for,absolute%20risk%20reduction%20of%208.6%25.
Vascepa/ Vazkepa conversely has a risk reduction rate of 25%, with little or no after effects on the body.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9309324/#:~:text=Similar%20results%20were%20found%20for,absolute%20risk%20reduction%20of%208.6%25.
What about peoples adversity to injections versus taking a capsule daily?
Human nature says, give me the pills.
So, if you were the NHS of UK which medication would you go with? Inclisiran or Vazkepa? Vazkepa costs 1/3 the price of Inclisiran. Class? Anyone?
Stockboy; I agree with your point. It’s all about the attitude of management, which trickles down to the frontline folks. When I emailed Amarin last week to ask about a simple formulation for Vascepa to compare against the generic (Hikma). I basically got “stonewalled.”
I felt like, how dare you ask the percentage of EPA in our drug? The woman basically sent me the paperwork attached to the bottles of Vascepa. There was no breakdown of allowed ingredients. No promotion of their “one” product…nada..zip. I felt like, do they really give a rats A? If employees can’t even promote themselves, what does that say about the culture?
I’ve got a “load” for you. I feel a Mount Vesuvius coming on….
Apologies jvee; I should have read Birdbrains idiotic posts before responding to your post. I think Birdbrain has too much caffeine in the AM. Or maybe something stronger like a Monster beverage?
Wow, I never thought of it that way. Unlike Tesla, Microsoft, Google, Amazon etc.... little Amarin shouldn't disclose any settlement details because it would be accused of pumping it's stock?
Wow! These Big Insurance companies need their you know what's handed to them "Big Time.". Threatening to blackball a small pharmaceutical company and thinking they would get away with it is a real testament to our allowing Big business to run things. Oh wait, that sounds too much like conspiracy theory.
What ever happened to the little guy wins?
El Capitan; I wrote to Hikma and received the following response. Names were deleted to protect the Conspirators. This makes me want to buy the Generic version....NOT!
Sounds like stuff I put in my car and my parts cleaner. Ammonia? are you serious?

Careful guys; you don’t want to hear the wrath from others about government conspiracy theories.
Thanks Cap; I’ll follow up with what you provided.
I have a question; someone posted the purity (EPA) of Generics vs. Vascepa. Is it possible to find that information somewhere? There's some shorts over on another board that swear up and down that the Generic V is the same purity as Brand Vascepa.
TIA
Nuke
Au’ contrare mon ami, Insurance companies are a scourge. I think I already talked about my 3 biggest “dislikes” as far as entities go? It got me into trouble before. Sorry I’m not going back there.
Let’s face it dude. Both our economies are in the ash can. Due to inept government leadership. Trudeau is well….? We all know about him don’t we? As for your southern neighbor (USA) need we say more?
We’re arguing about what? A small biotech that was under bad management and getting worse.
So let’s face facts here. People are hurting financially because governments are hurting financially. Governments with Socialized Healthcare are not going to pay what Amarin is asking. They’d rather see their patients die rather than pay for lengthening their lives.
Insurance companies are no better off. They’re in the same boat. Premiums are skyrocketing. The corporate executives aren’t making enough money. Do you really think the insurance companies care a rats about healthcare? They care more about their ability to generate cash flow.
Need I continue? There’s more at play here than just Sarissa taking control of a small biotech. And no, I don’t need an excuse so I can sleep at night. I know I made the right choice. Those former blood sucking leeches at Amarin made a shambles of a great little company. Alex Denner salvaged what was left.
The election in 2024 will be a monumental event in our history as a nation.
I can’t say what’s in store for your country, but I realize we have to get back to our senses and fast. “We’re playing hardball without a glove.”
Dude; As usual you're speaking gibberish. Even though you're entitled to your opinion.
How in the heck do you know there's no EU expertise remaining at Amarin? Wow, that was a stretch.
Also how did you know the previous Board had the expertise needed to move Amarin forward? Another stretch.
Alex Denner "cleaned house".... period!!! End of story, get used to it. 2-3 reps on the board wouldn't have solved anything. This isn't Alex Denners first rodeo.
I also disagree with keeping Karim around, as the old saying goes, "one bad apple spoils the whole lot." He was ineffectual and in the end bitter. He was contributory to the Proxy fight and spent needless shareholder funds to fight off Alex Denner.
It’ll probably improve negotiations. Karim was a Shawarma salesman. Ever read faces? The guy was a charlatan and in way over his head.
Wow….that vacation in where was it Cancun, must have fried your brain?
Karim and POW were taking Amarin down the tubes. You hopefully realize that? If not I feel sorry for you.
They’d given up on the US market. They blew the EU rollout. But it’s obvious you omitted that.
Sarissa invested $100M in shares, which far surpassed the entire Management and BOD combined. But obviously you omitted that.
Oh tell us what voice the shareholders had with the former management team and BOD? Zip, nada…POW was such an arrogant twit.
Now, you’re saying that Alex Denner is no better? Wow!
I’ll bet AD has done more in the past 2 months than Amarin has done in the past 2 years. Albeit there’s been silence. But because there’s $100M of his and associates money involved.
You can say anything you want about AD and Sarissa. It falls on deaf ears. Go pound yer pud somewhere else.
Mr. Curmudgeon; Vascepa will someday be on this list. It's list of treatments for ailments has not yet been fully discovered.
https://www.proclinical.com/blogs/2022-1/top-10-most-important-drugs-in-history
Yeah, and have him leave his sarcasm at home.
Strange.... I received my mail order supply of Vascepa and Pravastatin from CenterWell Pharmacy in todays mail. I don't care for it that much. At first glance they repackaged both the Vascepa and Pravastatin in identical small amber bottles. There were 8 bottles of V each contained 45 capsules each. Not the usual White bottle (120 caps). I also don't like the fact that both medications are in the same exact bottle. I could mistake either medication. Don't worry I would catch myself as they're quite different sizes.
Bottles might make good "seed saving" bottles for garden seeds.
Enjoy
Folks!!! We have a Diamond in the Rough.
Captain; agree with your analogy. There-in lies the benefits of Vascepa over PCSK9. Longer term consistency by taking a daily dose of EPA. It’s cheaper by far. If you miss a dosage of Vascepa it’s far less important than if you miss a 6 month injection of PCSK9.
Does PCSK9 provide the same protection as Vascepa?
Captain; nice find. Maybe I should go back to taking Livalo instead of Pravastatin?
It’s always about money isn’t it?
I switched from Livalo because it was costing me $254 for 90 days versus Pravastatin (generic) for “free?”
No wonder my test came in good. We’ll have to see on my next blood test if Pravastatin has improved or not?
Great news
Had my annual check-up today. Breaking in a New registered Nurse (she's my primary care person). Nice young lady. My usta RN retired. Pleasantly surprised to see that not only my old RN was a disciple of Vascepa, but the New RN is also. Thanks in big part to this man; Dr Kenneth Bescak of Cottonwood, AZ. According to both RNs this Dr Bescak is a highly cardiologist in the Southwest. Hmmm, I just thought why would a known Cardiologists have a practice in Cottonwood, AZ? Answer is simple; AZ is an awesome place to live, if you get away from the city (Phoenix). May as well be East L.A.
https://www.healthgrades.com/physician/dr-kenneth-bescak-xdvhp
#2 reason; Sedona, AZ, probably should be in the Top Ten richest cities in the USA. $$$$ I mean we got the Crystal squeezers, The Vortex, Tree Hugger Paradise, a BMW in every garage (you get it right?). I stay away from Sedona, I have plenty to do in Camp Verde, AZ.
So, my new RN is on board with Vascepa. She was familiar with it because of her mentor. I didn't ask her how many patients she prescribes Vascepa. From the sound of it, she probably didn't prescribe it much. She did say Dr Bescak often prescribed it for people who were statin intolerant.
My RN did take one look at my previous bloodwork (July 2022) and almost jumped out of her seat. Total Cholesterol 166 mg/dl, TGs 71, HDL 46, LDL 106, VLDL 14.2, Cholesterol/HDL 3.60. She thought that was great for someone my age. My next blood test I want to get AA/EPA ratio.
Now if I can just get my blood pressure down, hard to do with all these idiots on the road......
Swg_tdr; that was my cost through Medicare/ BCBS, fulfilled by CVS. $134/90 days.
I believe Lizzy tried and succeeded in getting a 100 day script for the same as a 90.
I tried with Humana, but they didn’t go for it. You may request a 100 day script from Cigna and see what they say.
If you think about it, over the course of a year you’d be getting essentially 40 days “free.” Save you a few bucks maybe?
Thanks N7; and I see R Preston Mason is another author. Good to see both Bhatt and Mason still collaborating.
Amarin back before Anchor ADCOM. Did a joint venture with Kowa Pharmaceutical. Kowa was enlisted to sell Vascepa using Kowa sales reps. Kowa is a Japanese company. They sell Livalo (statin), which is very tolerable vs the other statins.
NV? You mean Nevada? Only thing Nevada brings to mind is that is where the DUsaster occurred.
lizzy; IDK, as far as I recollect Amarin has always been a Delaware Corporation, besides being an Irish Corporation. What is the intent of your question? The following SEC document shows that Amarin is a Delaware Corporation.
https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/897448/000156459017014760/amrn-ex101_312.htm
I know, don't kick me too hard, this is the Kowa Pharmaceuticals agreement of 2017.
Just sayin'
