I worry about blackrock's intentions...hopefully it is not to take private...
looks like they would like a close of 48.50 on option fri...news changes all that..come on idcc
and of course..the next two earnings should be to the upside..not to mention all the other possibilities..the company is on solid ground...
This year has been the best year idcc has ever had if you consider the whole picture..a three year high backed by revenue and profits,a positive change in the patent enviroment,a win in the court system(zte),hauwei arbitration contract, samsung agreement,M2M and IOT getting ready to explode, new startups(WOT.ie etc),other arbitration wins, wireless enviroment exploding globally, multiple earning beats, fujitsu worldwide license, stock buybacks, doubling of dividends and much more..We still have many legal issues ahead but the horizon has never looked better.congrats to all longs who have hung in there and here's to 2015 being our true breakout....We are now respected and positioned to become that special company we all knew would happen one day..A very MERRY CHRISTMAS to all and my thanks for this board..
nobody is selling..surprise..surprise
hopefully the change will be the catalyst that gets the deal done..hopefully the framework is there..happy thanksgiving everyone..
does this smell alittle like maybe idcc has created another sony like deal..the last paragraph could open up new partnerships..here's hoping
second that...it is definitely different this time in many ways...backed up by profit(real revenue and profit)...alot further along in new business plan and negotiations...arrows lining up...companies in general are beginning to settle patent disputes...the internet of things getting traction...etc,etc,2015 will be our breaking out year..
hopefully, the trade free trade agreement unfolding now will help with china
there was also about 300000 shares traded the last 15 min before market closed...yes..there must be a reason..I do wonder what that reason is and where did all those shares come from?that many shares traded in such a short period and the stock only went up 50 cents or so..hmm
the question..why so much volume at the bell?is there a leak?500000 shares traded in appr. 20 min..the beginning of short covering?highly unusual..any ideas?
i also want to thank the three that went to and reported back the trial in delaware. You were right on the money with your reporting and did all of us a great service.Earnings should be good in the foreseeable future and that provides a nice base and consistency this stock has never enjoyed. Our chances to get the other 50 percent of the market under license has gone way up..Our new business model has started to take root.(wot,etc)..m2m..Any kind of announcement of a deal will send this stock upwards very quick..Congrats to all longs, our dreams are in sight
the sept presentation between 45 min and 55 min explains wot.io and other commercial ventures..
repeat but exciting..these spin offs could create tremendous value for the shareholders..I hope we get more clarification in the near future.............from sept presentation....While opportunities like wot.io are exciting and, as spins, more public-facing, our overall technology investment mix is relatively stable...
I am thinking these spin_offs are going to be a bigger deal than we realize...wot.io...look at the companies associated with this....ground swell happening!!!
this is from last presentation..I think ddnd posted this before...Internet of Things: Software and cloud-based software services that provide IoT data, data integration, analytics and security. InterDigital has substantial expertise with OneM2M, an organic business initiative (WoT.io) and a joint venture with Sony (Convida Wireless)
Next Generation Networks: Soft
Would someone explain the relationship of idcc with wot.io..Do we own it all or what?
it is time for interdigital to come out with some meaningful news. That has not happened since the samsung news...so much secrecy...It is time...
great post...that is what I call keeping your eye on the prize and not all this clutter...stealing money from the weak hands has worked beautifully over the years..I choose to stay the course...facts are right before our eyes. That makes it quiet different from the past..
it is time for the company to be more aggressive..the volume is almost nothing when you look at the shorting..they need the volume to increase drastically to ever get true interest...boring..we need some income deals!
looks like at least half of idcc volume was short volume..come on boys...burn them
in fact...that really is a very good idea...China needs to start showing they are going to be a trusted global partner and not just about China at all costs...The global abundance mentality will raise the standard of living for the Chinese people much quicker than their behavior today
very good news
you are very predictable
the company will be buying...it will not stay down..this could be the last great buying opportunity..there are alot of things that can happen between now and spring with a base to hold things up..we will digest this news very quickly..
they are waiting for their high paying jobs....follow the trail of life after the itc...follow the trail of life after the fdc.....it is a shame that greed is so embedded in our society...our country is in trouble if we do not figure out how to do the right things without lobbyists,etc...we will implode just society's before us....today is just another small example...
it will be nice when we start getting a variety of press releases involving our different businesses.I am looking for some surprise announcements very soon.I still do not know why they did not announce ericsson..
and with that probability I think the multiple should be higher...maybe 25 or 30...I agree that 46 to 56 should be the bottom price today but we know that will change violently with the addition of one of those licenses much less multiple licenses....and we know it is coming..we just do not know when...
agree....all of this negative fud is starting to be ridiculous..The company is positioned better in everyway by far than it ever has been in the past...stay the course...rewards are in sight for the longs and pain for the shorts..
you jist don't quit
who is briefing.com?They title their article 18 cents under projections..who's projections?laughable how these people play stocks with deception..should be criminal..they will get theirs in time...great earnings and a time in idcc's history where eaernings provide a base and things are falling into place for growth in multiple ways...amazing to watch some people on this board turn positives into negatives..facts will not support that very long..
great quarter...mgt team sounds very confident...
if you read this press release from last year and go to press releases on the radisys site it opens up the infrastructure possibilities..very exciting times for idcc..you can hear the confidence beginning to come from the leaders of the company...
InterDigital, Mindspeed and Radisys Collaborate to Deliver Integrated Small Cell with Wi-Fi Solution
Integrated System can Cut Carrier TCO in Half Compared to Traditional Architecture
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., February 20, 2013 – InterDigital (NASDAQ: IDCC), Mindspeed Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: MSPD), and Radisys® (NASDAQ: RSYS) announced today that they will be demonstrating an integrated Wi-Fi and LTE small cell solution at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this month. The solution combines InterDigital’s Converged Gateway, a licensed and unlicensed bandwidth management software with carrier-proven Radisys TOTALeNodeB™ complete small cell software, all running on Mindspeed®’s Transcede® dual-mode processor. The Transcede system-on-chip (SoC) is a dual-mode device with designated headroom available for value-added software, which fully supports both 3G/HSPA, 4G/LTE and Wi-Fi applications from Radisys. This enables OEMs to efficiently develop small cell solutions that combine HSPA, LTE and Wi-Fi in one access point.
Network operators are increasingly embracing cellular and Wi-Fi as complementary technologies in delivering the ever-growing volume of data through offloading cellular users onto Wi-Fi. As such, many operators are deploying carrier Wi-Fi in significant volume today. But critically, for urban deployments with metrocells, the total cost of ownership (TCO) is driven by the number of nodes, as each requires power, backhaul, installation and site acquisition. Having separate carrier Wi-Fi installations and small cell installations to serve the same area doubles TCO compared to an integrated unit that shares power, backhaul and installation.
InterDigital’s Converged Gateway software delivers a novel offloading and traffic management solution by intelligently managing application data flows across multiple physical transports or networks, and simultaneously enhances the overall user experience. This enables synergies between cellular and Wi-Fi by using advanced operator-controlled policies to combine, split or hand over data streams based on contextual parameters, such as channel conditions, content, user preferences, subscription plans, etc. This is fully compatible with both 3GPP and 802.11 standards, and embodies the Small Cell Forum ISW (Integrated Small Cell Wi-Fi) reference architecture.
“InterDigital’s innovation and technology leadership in wireless industry is contributing bandwidth management solutions for the HetNet, and helping solve the bandwidth crunch for carriers while ensuring QoE for users,” said Allen A. Proithis, Executive Vice President of InterDigital Solutions. “We are pleased to partner with Radisys, an industry leader in the small cell protocol stack and platform software, and Mindspeed, a leader in SoC, in delivering a reliable industry solution that can address TCO issues for carriers in such a compelling way.”
“Small cells represent one of the most exciting segments in wireless today, and we are proud of our market-leading position,” said Dr. Naser Adas, Vice President and General Manager of the wireless infrastructure business unit at Mindspeed. “We are the only small cell SoC company commercially shipping both 3G and LTE. Through this initiative with InterDigital and Radisys, our dual-mode SoC enables a complete, triple mode ISW access point, delivering the benefits of Small Cells and Wi-Fi in one system.”
“Radisys is pleased to be part of the next leap of HetNet innovation,” said Todd Mersch, senior director product line management, Software and Solutions, Radisys. “Efficient and cost effective deployment of multi-mode technologies is key for operators for both capex and opex expenses. Radisys’ field deployed 3G and LTE multi-mode small cell software solution turns the HetNet concept into the deployment reality for operators. In 2013, as multi-mode deployments proliferate, operators will need policy driven control on their access assets and we are pleased to be at the forefront of solving the HetNet deployment challenge.”
The ISW software from InterDigital controls both Wi-Fi chipset and the Mindspeed Transcede platform, integrating 802.11 b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi with LTE and HSPA. It will work with all of Mindspeed’s small cell SoC products, scaling from cost-effective residential systems to high-performance “metro cells” for public access and dense urban deployment.
Recently, the Small Cell Forum and Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) announced that they will work together to intelligently integrate small cells and Wi-Fi to improve quality of service, lower costs and simplify deployment. The Forum is developing a reference architecture for ISW, building on the work in other standards bodies to help operators define and deploy such integrated products.
By 2017, nearly 21 exabytes of mobile data traffic will be offloaded each month to fixed networks by means of Wi-Fi devices and femtocells according to predictions in the Cisco Visual Networking Index:
Global Mobile Data Traffic Forecast Update, 2012–2017.

it is time for idcc to fly..to benefit from all those years of building the wireless world...a world for so many to succeed beyond expectations..
where would fb or twtr be without the research of idcc...where would aapl or samsung be?It is time for our rewards to come our way...it is time!
nokia has done so much harm to idcc over the years and wasted the courts time, their shareholders money and set such a bad predecent for global patent cooperation. They also drove their handset business in the ground. They simply had a bad value platform which is important to true great coorporations.Doing the right thing in a fair manner has to be at the very core..Thieves lose in the end and never contribute to doing great things..I hope delaware straightens this out for good..I feel good things are right around the corner..The samsung deal has set things in motion...thanks to everyone for all the years of great info..
hopefully next week we will get an earnings call date...
I still believe we are living in a different world from the past...The current numbers justify more than the current share price...All these legal wars are just negotiations that will add big time to the bottom line..Idcc is no longer dependant on any one decision..yes..the stock could rocket on any big settlement, but,is not going down on any temporary decision against them..in fact...it seems their patents get strengthened throughout the process and ultimately these companies that have followed nokia's way will pay more...idcc's time is coming very soon...
I liked this post by valueguy from other board..makes alot of sense...Re: Public responses to ITC Investigation 337-TA-868
There are several reasons I think that IDCC has a reasonable chance of getting a reversal at the full Commission level even in the face of obvious bias against NPE's at the ITC.
1) Fundamentally...this battle is an American company (IDCC) vs foreign ones (Nokia/ZTE) and the ITC mission is to protect AMERICAN business interests first and foremost.
2) The CAFC slapdown of the Commission in the last go round is much more relevant to the Commissioners than it is to the ALJ becuase the ALJ typically (unless he has strong fortitude...which I don't see here) has to conforms to Commission rulings and policy if there is any ambiguity in the CAFC rulings. With the unofficial ITC policy remaining "scare away the NPE from coming here anymore...", the ALJ put more weight on prior Commission rulings than on the CAFC reversal and used the "tried and true" delay method of claiming the patents don't infringe (becuase we...the ITC...(deliberately) misconstrued a key term or two).
Neither of these reasons however would mean much without this third reason:
3) The saving grace in my view is that IDCC presents a perfect opportunity for Obama to set the new legal precedence regarding "patent hold-out". Following his effective erasing of the clear line in the sand with his decision to deny a previous injunction ruling last year due to public interest, no one really knows anymore what is needed to be able to obtain an injunction even though Obama's policy indicates that his policy doesn't preclude NPE's from obtaining one.. (Essentially he pulled up the old goalpost but hasn't yet clearly staked out how far back he moved them.) The ALJ's initial determination clearly demonstrates the current problem (that there currently is no detrimental cost for patent hold-out in a FRAND case since the courts can at maximum only order a reasonable royalty rate....plus normal interest) and determined that it was the respondents that were not negotiating in good faith. Politically, it's a good case as IDCC is clearly not the run-of-the-mill patent assertion entity (i.e. patent troll) but one of the largest pure R&D companies in the world dedicated to communications technology.
Looking at the exisitng horizon of cases at the ITC....I don't see a similar case where evidence of patent hold-out is as strong as in this case nor where the plantiff is as politically attractive/acceptable....which makes it prime foder for being the precedential one to set the new policy.
Without the above I would put the chances of a reversal of the ALJ's non-infringement decision by the Commission at only 10%. With the above I put them at around 60%. (Regardless of whether the Commission overturns the ALJ....I still put the overall chances of a reversal of the ALJ's claim construction and non-infringement decision at around 90% by the CAFC if it gets there.)
