ZF, as I understand it, you are somewhat new to Ihub and in case your were not aware, there is an 'ignore' feature in settings that allows one to put a poster on ignore and no longer view any of their posts.
I have come to highly appreciate your posts and would not like to see you 'limited' in your posts due to 'unnecessarily' responding to posters who may be either hoping to sway the trading of others by their posts, or somehow present a false impression of KBLB, by their ignorant ramblings.
thanks ES, that helps me understand the patent.
However, I still don't understand how they are submitting a patent from January when they did not have a 'deal' with KBLB until April.
Obviously, Kim has been talking to them prior to the actual signing of the 'deal'.
Does this mean SIAL had some 'basis' for actually beginning to prepare ZN fingers for KBLB use? or perhaps even already has done so.
I'm not knowledgeable of the science and therefore not understanding the patenting aspects. But does this mean KBLB & SIAL are further along in the process than 'inking' a deal in April means?
Come on KBLB CC, I'm anxious.
In mid April (post 17021) I asked the question without response, as to how SIAL or whomever could apply for this patent without an agreement with KBLB.
Can someone explain that? Is the patent applied for with SIAL, or whomever, competing or complimenting KBLB's patent?
Where does this idea that KBLB has to have approval from SIAL for ALL PR's released?
I can see if KBLB releases any 'specific' information about ZN Fingers, but other company information???
IF they had to seek approval to release ANYTHING, then I would definitely believe KBLB & SIAL had more of a 'partnership'rather than a licensing deal.
Since SIAL purchased the rights to use SGMO technology (ZN fingers), they receive a derivative from all uses made of same.
Therefore an agreement between SIAL and KBLB to use the 'fingers', would translate into $ for SGMO.
That is my understanding of course.
Perhaps all 3 have something to say about KBLB, but I wouldn't leap out there with that assumption just yet. I would love to believe that there is something BIG that they all have in common, but my guess is that it is a 'normal' quarterly news sharing event.
I am MOST interested in what Kim has to say.
IF SIAL gives any news related to KBLB, then likely Kim's will be much more of the details.
GO KBLB.
I apologize as well. I did not mean to "call you an idiot", I was just trying to use a phrase which was mostly meant as what people sometimes have to deal with when in a large group; and it was mostly meant to a number of other people of which I have a high distaste for.
I recognize your posts as one who is geniunely interested in the company as an investor.
The news is that there will be a conference call in mid May.
How some of you love to make 'stifling' comments!!! Go TRADE somewhere else if KBLB is not for you.
It's been less than 7 months since an industry changing breakthrough and some people want this to be a daily publication about who does what!!! It's almost enough to make me not pay anymore attention to this hub. IF it weren't for the many others who do DD on a company and present much great information here. I guess we all have to 'suffer with the idiots' who want nothing more than a stock who bounces up and down on daily, useless news so they can do some day trading rather than invest.
KBLB is an investment which will pay off very well in the not too distant future.
PR - KBLB announces advance conference call advisory...
' call-in details, time and format, at least a week prior to conference call.'
The company plans to host a conference call for the purpose of disccusing corporate developments. The conference call is tentatively scheduled for mid May...
"The recent licensing agreement is ACCELERATING corporate activities, including laboratory evolution..." said Thompson
To what benefit would a delay in revealing details provide?
How would NOT disclosing details of the deal help negotiations with ND or or Wyoming or new lab or whatever?
I can't imagine that he has not been in conversations with Fraser and Lewis about his licensing deal with Sigma.
Why would he announce a deal if he wanted to hide the details for some period?
I'm confused.
Why are you "not counting on..." the 8k today? Is it not the 'required' date for filing it?
With regard to the 10-k just filed, I need some help on a couple of items.
Under "Note 9 - subsequent events"
1) who is the R&D agreement with above? Sigma Aldrich? somebody else?
2) 4/1/11 - $70k to what consultant? same as above or ?
From the section "Exclusive License Agreement with University of Wyoming"
?)Is this not a negotiating point with the Univ of Wyoming? At our current pps, it only takes about 1,200,000 shares to satisfy $150,000. There seems to be about 5.8 million kblb shares worth about $750,000 (currently) on the table for negotiating any 'fees' KBLB owes Wyoming, right? I mean if I was KBLB I'd spend $150,000 for 7 million shares worth $896,000!
looks like we're moving back up somewhat. Hopefully end green today. Maybe news after hours.
Go KBLB.
Based on some other 'mistakes' I have seen Joe Noel make, I wonder if he doesn't use dragonspeak or some other voice input mechanism.
Obviously doesn't proof read well.
Go KBLB
The 10-k filing was delayed for 15 calendar days, right?
That would be due by this Friday, the 15th, right?
Where did you get that? Again last 10k Kim owned about 60% and with Fraser and Wyoming and some other larger investors, I don't see that as real. Can you give me a link?
I don't believe that Kim would let go of that much.
Too vague. Don't believe you.
where'd you get that percentage?
Kim owns about 330 million of the 550 million outstanding???
or last I heard
oh, I thought you said you were getting out???
sold a third and trying to get rid of the rest?
edit : sold at around .069?
yea, I bet JB2 and Nogo are dreaming too!!! :)
Dr. Joseph Bedell, Director of Sigma's Commercial Animal Technology Group. “Spider silk production is just the first example of a commercial animal application for this exciting technology.”
What is he saying here? "this exciting technology" is that the zinc fingers or something with KBLB?
Hold 'em if ya got 'em boys!!! Go KBLB
So they applied for a patent that would / could stop anyone else from using THEIR technology to create spidersilk????
I'm still cornfused. KBLB / Notre Dame has a patent for what genes they insert where? And Sigma has a patent to use their technology for anyone creating spidersilk by genetic insertion of spider DNA into silkworms??
DEFINITELY a big plus, but how can they apply for a patent related to what KBLB is / has done? BEFORE an agreement.
OR is their patent for something else?
Am I missing something in that press release?
Where does it say Sigma gets shares?? (I said it was early)
Or did they already have shares?
Or maybe they've been the ones buying lately??? :)
How is it that they applied for a patent before an agreement with KBLB? Jan 27, 2011
Thanks Eternal,
It is definitely early and as I have not had enough coffee yet, I likely was unclear.
I was trying to say that not only does this give KBLB the means to develop the spidersilk faster, but is the license limited directly to spiders and their silk?
I believe I recall some comment from Fraser or KBLB about how the 'idea' of what they are doing might be applied to other 'things' not in the 'spiderworld'.
I recognize that KBLB has their hands full with spidersilk, but could this be another thought for KBLB with these 'tools' from Sigma?
After reading the Sigma announcement, they referenced spiders and spidersilk, so maybe my speculation is way off.
anyway thanks for the answers.
I'm with you Yankeeclipper. Can you do that? How do you make your shares unavailable?
I would not be surprised of an announced press conference in the next few days to discuss this and other developments.
Is this a development toward 'developing' the various spider silk aspects or the 'tool' for producing the various spider silks and / or other 'animal' constructs for who knows what?
Is this how KBLB plans to make all those many, many OTHER 'things' which they will then be able to sell/license/market?
Although this does not provide for a method of getting the spidersilk to market and income for KBLB, perhaps it is opening up doors we have not considered. Doors maybe not related to spiders? This might be much more of a development than we think. That comment by Joe Noel, so long ago, about how Kim has other ideas he wants to pursue???
AND we now have more 'expertise' from Sigma as well.
One question is what does Sigma get? Does the licensing agreement give them a %? or stock? or fees to be paid? or ??
Pencil thick spidersilk strand stopping a 747? Maybe not so false.
I worked on a runway in the military and we caught F4 jets with a 1 1/8 " thick steel stranded cable.
They didn't stop "in mid air" but they did stop in a very short distance.
Thanks dadofduck,
I like his approach and style in presentation, and of course his message about KBLB. Intelectually well done imo.
Nothing much new, but definitely a good read for people new to KBLB.
Drill down past the 'executive summary' and go through his presentation. I found it interesting and expect newcomers to be appropriately interested and impressed.
Thanks again for that find.
How much of "us" do they already own????
Not KBLB yet.
not me!! I want a full head of long, flowing spider silk shimmering down my shoulders!!! Never had that before!!! Might be kinda cool.
although it might be so tough the barbers would charge me extra for a haircut!!!
So many, many uses for spider silk. Go KBLB
OK, let's throw up all the 'obvious' things we have discussed and see 'what's left'.
Buy out
Merger or partner with Dupont or similar.
sell technology to textile maker.
Start KBLB's own manufacturing process.
What else?
What is "so obvious" that we are missing?
I did notice that Joe Cunning is on the board for SmartLife Technologies. They advertise that they have "... designed and developed a garment based system with integrated sensors for sport, personal health and wellbeing monitoring."
Could we 'integrate' KBLB textile into their garments to make their monitoring bulletproof, or stronger, or just prettier???
Other ideas?
Thank you, thank you, thank you very much!!
So much better.
Is that you, Ed???
I didn't recognize your thought process here. Great idea.
Let's all just Chill and let the company do what the company does. Constant looking, asking, complaining does little toward benefiting the company.
The company stock will reward without most or any of our input.
KBLB
Not me. No news and nothing to do. I take it as nobody wants to sell at these prices. Now when it gets to a dollar or two...
By other money, correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall shortly before the PR where they announced they were successful with spider silk: that the long silence prior to that was due to something related to getting some credit or other means of obtaining something like a million dollars.
Been a long time ago and I'd have to look back. Anybody remember anything? Man?
the 10 billion # is Authorized Shares. There are only about 550 million shares outstanding. The remaining 9.5 billion are not issued and retained by the company for possible future use if it becomes necessary. That is where Kim obtains SOME of the money he needs to continue operations UNTIL the company begins making some money. Which we are all waiting on an announcement as to how the company is going to be making money soon.
Go KBLB
Great post ES, you're #1
