Ford Motor Co. is riding a wave of momentum for the release of its quarterly report next week, and Wall Street is expecting to see still more concrete evidence of the resurgent automaker's recent strides. Ford will hand in its results Tuesday. Analysts estimate the company earned 32 cents a share in the first quarter, with sales of $28.5 billion, according to an average calculated by FactSet Research.
David Silver, an automotive analyst for WStreet.com, said he'll scrutinize cash flow and overseas sales.
"I expect it to be a strong quarter for the company with Mulally increasing his production targets for the second half of the year in the U.S. and Asia, while keeping production in Europe relatively flat," Silver said.
If Ford manages to even come close to the analysts' targets, it would mark a vast improvement from the $1.8 billion in losses it racked up a year earlier when rival General Motors Co. was busy hitting up U.S. taxpayers for billions in emergency loans.
At the time, Wall Street looked past the red ink to embrace Ford's report, running the stock up 21% and lauding the company's improved cash flow.
Hyundai's Sonata: Style that's affordable
WSJ's Rumble Seat columnist Dan Neil takes a test-drive in Hyundai's latest Sonata, which he says feels like a luxury product at a reasonable price.
And the loss didn't seem so bad considering Ford had posted its worst-ever annual loss of $14.7 billion in 2008.
Much has changed since then as Ford's cross-town rivals moved through bankruptcy court. Now, free of some of their suffocating debt load, both GM and Chrysler could eventually prove to be tough streamlined competitors.
In fact, that scenario is already taking shape. GM said this week that it settled up the $8 billion owed to the U.S. and Canadian governments while Chrysler posted an upbeat quarterly report that included an operating profit of $143 million.
"So much of the auto industry is about momentum and I think General Motors has more of it right now," Silver said.
Still, the goodwill Ford earned by not relying on a bailout has already led to huge market-share gains and, of course, a massive rally in the stock price. The positive effects of the polished brand image won't be going away anytime soon.
Very true, many were expecting a big profit taking day yesterday but it never happened. It was a relief to see that everyone that is holding seems to think that there are better days to come

I made my investment a while back in CNEX, lost the money, and that's all part of the game. I'm not lingering on my losses or crying about them or bashing the people around me that maintain a more positive focus since we have all had different entry levels here with CNEX. These different entry levels can warp a person's perspective. As with the many people who bought this stock on Wednesday must be claiming that this is the best company EVER, since they are definately UP. It's all a matter of perception.
To lose a few grand here and there is part of the trading world, as long as you make it back tenfold elsewhere, and if CNEX is the only stock you have ever played and you got burned, that's crappy.
It would take quite a bit of a PPS increase for me to ever break even here, so, please don't take my positive outlook on a good day as a cheerleader chant, good days are far between at times. Would I buy more shares at this time? No. Am I still invested in this company's positive news and gains and possibilities? Yes.
"Doesnt seem like dilution is an issue lately at all" ... I know it has been an issue ... and I have been frustrated here for sure, in fact, been hating things at times, as with many shareholders I attempt to stay positive no matter how tough it can be ....
CNEX is volatile and tough to read, and yes ... Robert Majors, wow
Doesnt seem like dilution is an issue lately at all
I think that things actually held up quite steady for the day, decent for after such a big day on Thursday
Thanks for the CNEX chart, Clay!
Another week in the books, hope everyone did well
AMSZ, no kidding, things moving well right now
ICOP Digital, Inc. (NASDAQ: ICOP), an industry-leading company engaged in advanced mobile video technology solutions, today announced that it has been awarded a state contract for in-car video, from the State of Minnesota, for state and local law enforcement.
David Owen, Chairman and CEO of ICOP, stated, "ICOP is honored to be awarded this contract that enables MN State and local agencies the ability to purchase our mobile video solutions in the most efficient manner, as it extends the pricing, terms and conditions of the State contract to state and local agencies. Given the growing emphasis on video in this region, we believe this award represents a significant win for ICOP."
Minnesota Department of Public Safety Commissioner, Michael Campion, announced during a House of Representatives legislative session in October of 2009, a new program to use $2.5 million in federal money to equip squad cars throughout the state with video cameras. According to the terms of the contract, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) anticipates 500 - 600 digital in-car cameras will be available through a grant process for law enforcement during the first nine months of the 2010 calendar year... and is intended for vehicles used by line officers or deputies whose primary responsibility is patrolling and interacting with the public, special unit vehicles such as canine or traffic units, and vehicles used by first line supervisors responsible for supervising the officers mentioned above. Campion also said a request would likely be presented to the Legislature to establish a funding source to keep up with technological needs relating to the cameras.
This purchasing vehicle also affords any additional state or local agency the opportunity to purchase ICOP products based on pre-determined price and terms. "While this program is a great opportunity for Minnesota agencies throughout the state to experience the benefits of in-car video, it also serves as a seeding program in allowing agencies to further justify additional funds for future fleet build-outs," said Bob Bradley, Director of National Sales and Marketing. "While DPS anticipates the current program including 500 - 600 cars across the state, it could lead to the potential of thousands of cars in Minnesota," said Bradley.
In a recent article published in the Minnesota Star Tribune, the plan is described as being "backed by Gov. Tim Pawleny... with the intent... to enhance officers' encounters with the public." The article goes on to say that the "...proposal has widespread support from law enforcement across the state."
As announced in February of this year, ICOP was also awarded the state contract with the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) to provide a cooperative purchasing vehicle for technology products and services for agencies throughout Texas. Texas is the largest consumer of in-car video recorders in the United States. In addition to Texas and Minnesota, ICOP also has state purchasing contracts with Utah, New Mexico and Louisiana.
Slight gains today, headed here into the final 90 mins of the week

ATTENTION CNEX SHARE HOLDERS - DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS TO BE SUBMITTED TO CNEX? PLEASE ADVISE. This is the list that has been formulated to date :
1.) 504 dilution. How does it work, and are we done for awhile with the 110k cash we have on hand ?
2.) Have we hired a QP yet "Qualified Person" (QP), under
National Instrument 43 101 ?
3.) Are there more samples still to come from the Rock samples that were sent to the lab last month?
4.) Can Cannon Post some Pics of the Queen Alexandra Mine on their Website?
5.) I would like to hear Edwin's analysis of the assay results. Did the results live up to expectations?
6.) General company goals and targets, will this be a long term exploration process?
7.) Explain the likelihood of CNEX securing private investing (perhaps the company can tell us a little about the 3 investors noted on the 504 form) a JV or any uplisting in the near future?
8.)Will Cannon try to get non 504 funding or are they looking to get bought out?
9.)What was the name of the mine in the early 20th century.
10.)Who was the English mining syndicate that sank an 85 foot shaft and milled 18 tons of ore, grading 16.6 ounces of gold
11.) the estimated length of time until the mine begins production. Also, who would be the actual mining company.
(please add any further questions for the company)
we await some more updates then
share structure and looks like they are putting together a good property, with good recent findings, etc
holding steady, nice and easy
