That would be a good question to send to Sean. He is very responsive. The way I understand it, some grocers charge a slotting fee which is actually paid by manufacturer which would be us. Grocers are taking the risk to stock the product so they want to get paid to do so. As product sells then we get paid for new inventory. Not all grocers charge this fee. Nightfood sells directly to some grocers and also to distributors. Distributors are responsible for restocking their vendors.
From the 10-1-19 PR...
"Revenue for the quarter exceeded the previous high set in the quarter ending March 31, 2019. The majority of quarterly revenues were from preexisting distribution partners ordering product to replenish inventory levels which decrease as consumers continue to buy more Nightfood off the shelves. The other significant component was the initial order from our newest supermarket distribution partner."
Doesn't sound like Harris Teeter charges a slotting fee because NGTF got paid for the initial order. NGTF also received revenue due to restocking. I would imagine there are all kind of deals being made to get Nightfood on the shelves.
Nice read and Nightfood is definitely one of the first to the night time snacking better for you non-sleep disrupting ice creams to feed that Crave Monster in people.
Break out happening!
Prices trend up and down. Look up 6% on more than double the average volume.
Probably their misinterpretation or lack of investigation. There is nothing in print anywhere that says eating Nightfood will help you sleep. Correct me if I"m wrong. Our market is a healthier option for the millions of people that choose to snack on ice cream at night. NGTF$$
Not sure if this video has been posted...
I'm sure you noticed. The reporters said eating Nightfood ice cream will help you fall asleep. Nightfood doesn't make that claim. The dietitian only followed the reporters lead.
"The ice creams do not contain melatonin or other sleep supplements, so they will not necessarily help you fall asleep. The point is they will not keep you awake, either: The ice cream is configured to include less of the stuff that can impede your digestion to cause disrupted sleep, like lactose, sugar and caffeine."
In reference to our Innovative product, I think you are confusing invention with innovation.
From Merriam Webster.....
"What is the difference between innovation and invention?
The words innovation and invention overlap semantically but are really quite distinct.
Invention can refer to a type of musical composition, a falsehood, a discovery, or any product of the imagination. The sense of invention most likely to be confused with innovation is “a device, contrivance, or process originated after study and experiment,” usually something which has not previously been in existence.
Innovation, for its part, can refer to something new or to a change made to an existing product, idea, or field. One might say that the first telephone was an invention, the first cellular telephone either an invention or an innovation, and the first smartphone an innovation."
Nightfood is not a new invention but is definitely innovative.
Our innovative product does it again!
If it sells well at Harris Teeter which I suspect it will, then the the doors are opened to other Kroger owned grocers and Kroger itself.
On Feb 8, 2019, it was announced that Nightfood ice cream won the 2019 Product of the Year award in the ice cream category in a Kantar survey of over 40,000 consumers. On June 27, 2019, Nightfood won Best New Ice Cream in the 2019 World Dairy Innovation Awards.
Excellent!! As suspected we have distribution in a Kroger owned subsidiary!!
"Since our launch, we’ve gotten thousands of requests from consumers wanting Nightfood available in their local stores, and many of those came from loyal Harris Teeter shoppers.”
NGTF$$$
Is .20 where you take another position or are you covering? It is the time of year for grocers to reset for next year. How many more grocers do you think they will sign by the end of the year?
Could be at $1.00 also. Who knows how many catalysts are in the works?
I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and being cautiously optimistic. I don't think they outright lied, just over guestimated. I want to see what Q4 brings. If they only have $300,000 in sales vs the $3,000,000 that was originally projected I will seriously consider selling and keeping on a watch list. If they are between a million and two million....hmmmm. Just have to see. By the way, the company doesn't sell stock. They are funding expansion thru convertible loans. Very common for young companies. 4 top 50 grocers in 10 months is a heck of an accomplishment.
What kind of time frame do you give Nightfood till they shut the doors? Next Wednesday? Friday? Everyone sell!! Your shares are needed to cover.
If you sell I suggest keeping it on a watch list. Best of luck.
They should PR an additional $5 mil or so for buy backs. That would really ramp things up.
$15,000,000 at .40 per share. They can definitely knock that float down a bit.
Might be time to see a dentist....lol.
Agree wholeheartedly. A couple more distribution contracts would be ideal to smooth things out a bit.
I have to disagree with you a bit. If NGTF would have hit their previous projections, like $3 mil Q4, the price would definitely be much higher than .30. That being said, we all know the rest of the story. Time frames have changed and it will be very interesting to see what Q4 revs will be.
"That was a very unprofessional video."
Actually it was a great way to answer a question that Sean is getting bombarded with. I'm sure the recent price decline has a lot of share holders posing a lot of questions. Sean has responded to every email I have sent to him.
"Investors are reporting what's going on in the stores? Gee...no bias here, move along."
Something wrong with investors going out and verifying distribution? NOT!
"Still only one small institutional investor...I guess the big boys just aren't small enough to know how great NGTF is?"
Institutions typically do not invest in stocks under $5.00. It's not a rule from what I understand but a generally accepted practice. Nightfood is still too early for institutions.
Here is a good read about institutions investing in under $5
https://www.fool.com/investing/2017/11/06/can-mutual-funds-own-stocks-under-5.aspx
Just finished the last of the Cold Brew Decaf. Tastes just as good during the day! Hey Sean. How about some Texas distribution!!
"My instincts lead me to believe the frozen plant based goo (you can’t call it ice cream) is not selling very well. The stock price and anemic volume reflect a product not being very well received."
Current product they are selling is dairy based with the main ingredient being skim milk. Plant based products are not available from Nightfood yet. Several companies, Ben & Jerry's being one of them are selling plant based, non-dairy frozen desserts with pretty good success from what I gather. Distribution in 4 top 50 supermarket chains with more coming is quite substantial. NGTF needs to get their act together when it comes to making projections. The dairy based product is well received from most people that try it. Time will tell how successful they are.
Yes. They need to generate some substantial revs. $3 million Q4 would have been very substantial but as we all know now, that ain't happening. I'm real curious how far off they are. Will they break a $Million? We'll see.
Nightfood also cut back on sugar and fat, meaning fewer calories than some traditional pints. It’s pretty neck-and-neck with other low-calorie competitors. For example, both a pint of Halo Top Vanilla Bean and a pint of Nightfood Full Moon Vanilla contain 280 calories. A serving of the Halo Top has 2 grams of fat, 5 grams of protein, and 5 grams of sugar alcohol, while a serving of the Nightfood comes in at 1.5 grams of fat, 6 grams of protein, and no sugar alcohol.
"Sugar alcohols are popular, low-calorie sweeteners. ... While they are well tolerated, high amounts of some sugar alcohols, such as sorbitol, may cause bloating and diarrhea. Erythritol seems to produce the fewest side effects and may be a good choice if you have an intolerance to FODMAPs.Sep 19, 2018
So will it help you sleep?
"Nightfood contains less sugar, which is less likely to create a metabolic disturbance close to bedtime," Michael Grandner, PhD, director of the Sleep and Health Research Program at the University Arizona College of Medicine, tells Health in an email. "Also, it is less calorie-dense and contains fewer additives that may cause physiologic disturbances, such as sugar alcohols,” says Grandner, who is also on the Nightfood sleep and nutrition expert team.
"Whether it's a good idea or not, lots of people eat ice cream at night," Dr. Grandner says. "The idea behind this product was to simply give those people an option for something healthier that is less likely to disturb sleep."
Ideally, Dr. Dasgupta says, you should be practicing healthy habits throughout the day that benefit your rest—like de-stressing and powering down electronics before bed—instead of relying on ice cream to put you to sleep. But while nighttime ice cream may not be the healthiest ritual, if you’re going to indulge, why not pick a better-for-you bite? And if you find it helps you sleep, well, that’s cool too.
Here is a cool spot on USA Today speaking about Nightfood's sleep friendliness.

Any way to post a couple pics? I'm curious how the new product tag looks.
Very well stated sir. Only 2% of the float was traded today indicating that most shares are in pretty strong hands. NGTF needs to "put up or shut up" as they say after making such projection blunders.
I thinks it’s called cautiously optimistic.
Not much. Ask is back up to .32. Only 1.2% of float has traded hands.
1% of the float has traded hands so far. 99% being held. Price is heading back up and may close around .30+. NGTF got a well deserved haircut for being overzealous with projections. Still have come a long way and have product in 4 of the top 50 supermarket chains with more coming. aimho
Agree. Let's see how the conference call goes.
"The award-winning ice cream line, which launched earlier this year, has now established distribution in four of the Top-50 supermarket chains in the United States on the way to a national distribution footprint. The sales team, led by Folkson and former Unilever ice cream executive Jim Christensen, has meetings scheduled with supermarket chains around the country in the coming weeks.
Picked up 20000 shares .24 to .25. Thanks.
Positives from todays PR....
“ The majority of quarterly revenues were from preexisting distribution partners ordering product to replenish inventory levels which decrease as consumers continue to buy more Nightfood off the shelves.”
“We’re seeing more new consumers learning about and buying Nightfood every day,” stated Sean Folkson, Nightfood CEO. “The data we have indicate that same store sales have been steadily increasing, with an extra jump in September due to new marketing initiatives we’ve been testing and are working to scale”
“The fact that we’ve successfully secured over 450 high-volume supermarket points of distribution in 9 months is a significant accomplishment,”
Obviously the negatives are timeframe statements and I’m not happy with it but I’m not selling. Will hold my starter position for a couple more quarters to see how production and sales go. They have come a long way in a short period of time.
Several previous convertible loans were for $300k. Current is for $150k. I wonder if some revenues are off setting the need for the loan?
I’m kind of guessing but I think the 10k is going to show about $500,000 in revenues for the year. $500k in a year to $3 million in a quarter for Q4 will be great if achieved.
Excellent price point and I definitely agree about the taste. I think the Nightfood mineral blend of calcium citrate, magnesium citrate and zinc citrate help address the sleep factor.
"Calcium helps the brain use the amino acid tryptophan to manufacture the sleep-inducing substance melatonin. This explains why dairy products, which contain both tryptophan and calcium, are one of the top sleep-inducing foods." In magnesium deficiency, chronic insomnia is one of the main, central symptoms.
“Magnesium can also help insomnia that's linked to the sleep disorder restless-leg syndrome. ... Magnesium increases GABA, which encourages relaxation as well as sleep. Low GABA levels in the body can make it difficult to relax. Magnesium also plays a key role in regulating the body's stress-response systeml
“Zinc supports your immune system and muscles. Magnesium plays a role in metabolism and muscle health and helps manage sleep. B6 may boost energy. ZMA makers claim that increasing these three nutrients in your system can build muscle strength and stamina, speed muscle recovery, and improve the quality of your sleep”
That is great info! So it probably is Harris Teeter. Did you happen to notice placement? Was it next to Halo?
Yeah! We have the Crave Monster and entering the "sleep friendly" night time snacking market.
Very Innovative!
Speculation is Harris Teeter, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kroger. Awaiting PR for confirmation. They have about 258 stores along the east coast.
