I have been lurking for a month or so. Got in at .147, .154 and .222 in the last 3 weeks. Not much but enough for me.
Anyway, the points on dragging out the lawsuit frm BostonBoy and some others are valid. One year is NOTHING in many cases. I also own IDCC [they claim to have essential patents in cell phone tech for 3g air interface] and they sued ERICY for infringement. Case took ten years and they ended up settling out of court. This could drag on much longer from here.
12,
IF there are multiple bidders, then no worries. A takeover is exactly what is called for. No defense would be necessary.
That process will yield the max value to the shareholders.
Different story if only 1 bidder.
JimLur, Bucher must have one helluva client base that all jumped in today if this is the reason. My guess is for over 2.2 mln shares traded today.
Does anyone have a site to check previous options activity - open interest changes, volume, etc.?
Me thinks [the ubiquitous] 'someone' may be manipulating this puppy. It would be telling if there was a 'sudden' increase in the open positions on the options.
Takeover: I seem to recall the days when $40 takeover/buyout price was seen as an insult [before the nov/dec 99 run-up].
Why would $35 spark such interest? Unless, of course, it was just an opening salvo on price from only 1 of a few well heeled suitors.
Looks like a 2.2 million volume day maybe a lot more?
DR, Yes, it would. I shall not ask again. Wouldn't want to waste your valuable time and make you stoop down to help out a poor slob with just an inkling of your thoughts or a quick example of what you write.
RichBloem, THANK YOU for your response. All he had to do was say something akin to what you just said. Lots of us do not eat and breathe this stuff.
I couldn't possibly list all. I could probably only list a few known heavyweights like NOK, ERICY, MOT, QCOM. I am relatively [please read completely] ignorant of all the tech surrounding this. Much chat in the past on this board has been around IDCC HAVING an end-to-end solution for lots of stuff. I gather you refute all that? OK, so help us other idiots out a bit. OK, you are waaaaay smarter than me. I just want an inkling of some of thye specifics of what you mean.
This is one of the things I meant months ago about you being so cryptic with your comments. Maybe cryptic is the wrong word.
Data, please enlighten the rest of us on what licensing they [IDCC] needs to get done. What does IDCC have to license in order to provide COTS solutions? TIA
So, then do they become available for use as fulfilling options grants?
Can they be sold by the company without shareholder approval?
Can they ever be used for anything?
TIA
DataRox,
Curious as to why you would characterize the QCOM listing differently from IDCC's. Both seemed to be 'declaritory and non-specific', yet you say QCOM 'holds essential patents for the standard.'
What am I missing? How can QCOM not specify any patents yet be characterized as having claimed essentiality?
I am only trying to understand your comments. You have a tendency to be very cryptic in your posts for us dummies .
Long with 4000 shares
corp buyer, why couldn't they just sell some of the stock IDCC bought back ? Arent those shares already 'registered' and simply owned by the company? TIA
Good trade.
Perhaps someone got wind of the impending lawsuit against LU a couple of weeks ago and decided to get in early? Not a hard stretch for me to think somebody saw or was shown something - AKA draft of the suit?
Loop, first, our best wishes on positive resolution of your health problems.
Agreed, IDCC is making the correct move here.
Finally. Perhaps we will see a string of infringement suits?
IVAN touted as the next best thing since sliced bread and you jump on DNA for what price potential???
Pulled trigger on 3000 at avg of 2.84 Thurs. We'll see about this wave stuff. GL to all.
Tom,
Thx, but my question remains unanswered. What coorelation is there between a cubic ft of gas and a BTU?
The previous article you cited said that the well could produce 2MM cu ft gas per day and then said that the sale/market price of the gas was $5.15/million BTU.
Thanx for your thoughts and references.
Whom or what is "RF" ?
Also, help me understand... how does a cubic ft of gas coorelate to a BTU? Is there a formula of some kind? Reason I ask is that the reference you cited says they hit gas at 2 million cu ft./day and the price is $5.15 per BTU.
TIA
Tom,
What is your thinking? Or are you just a tout? What do you think is going to make this puppy pop? Why will it do well next week?
jai, couldn't have said it better.
What rumors are you hearing?
What makes you think they are going profit positive at this point?
Thx. Will look for these items to translate to the bottom line in a positive way. And for this to go cash flow positive from operations first.
Tom, I have dabbled in and out on this one.
Any research suggestions for DD to remove the speculative FUD surrounding this one would be appreciated.
never mind, someone did.
OT: might be useful to put a display sample out there so folks could see how it looks
Back in '99 or '00 management announced they would get 2 chip deals done within 2 years. Also, TXN logo appeared on a product being held by one of the employees in a photo in the annual report.
Any thoughts on when/if a second chip deal could be forthcoming? TXN the second chip deal? Or is the 2nd chip deal dead?
Anyone? TIA.
GE Jim, thx. I am looking for ideas to diversify a bit. I expect I will check out many that I will ultimately conclude are not my cup of tea, like SIRI for many of the reasons you mentioned. Sorting the wheat from the chaff is a laborious task for someone like me.
Habu, thx. Will check a few out in this sector.
Thanx Jim. Will look into a few of the names. Unfortunately, I don't know of any potential blockbusters like IDCC right now on the horizon. Time to start the digging.
Thanx Spree. Would appreciate more ideas if you have time.
I would do my own DD and not think poorly of anyones recommendations to research.
Thanx again.
Anyone, I am rebalancing my portfolio and would appreciate any tips and/or recommendations for rebalancing about $20-30,000.
TIA
Snowblow5
May you all have a Merry Christmas and a very Happy [and Profitable] New Year.
Glad to see the new licsense! I was getting worried about the end of year 'promise'. But, I thought Merritt [or Howard?] said the next licsencee would be a recognized name. I may be in the hinterlands and I am less than savvy about the industry, but I don't recognize the name. Name sounds like one of those PC slap together assemblers. But, it is in Taiwan. Maybe well recognized there? Hope this is just the first [?] in a long line yet to be inked.
Mschere, I can't PM. But I am not selling. Just predicting a fall Monday and/or Tuesday. Herd mentality will factor in. I am keeping a little powder dry for when it does happen.
Mschere, What the hell does that mean??
Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how one views the situation, the stock is in for a quick tanking Monday and maybe tuesday, IMO.
Corp, is it any wonder why the steriotypic reaction to lawyers is hate, distrust, loathing, etc.? Letting the clocks continue to tick adds up to huge legal fees and perverted outcomes. This should have already been decided by Lynn. Now the door is opened for the arbitors to let their own clocks tick in considering the relevancy of any sealed docs, asking for them from the court, pouring over them before and after arguments, etc. This arbitration should take a couple three weeks. No surprise if it really does take a year.
I pretty much agree with your analysis. I just sit here disgusted at this whole mess. NOK gets 2g thru 1/1/2002 pretty much for free. ERICY capitalizes onm this and effectively gets same. Now NOK thinks ERICY, who got it for a song, conspired with IDCC for a rate that, applied to NOK since the trigger date otherwise would have been fair for the whole period of 2g in the attempt to ...get it for next to nothing ... again. Or do I have this all wrong?
chinok, if it is for 2g, then that would not account for the relative aggressiveness in getting 3g licensees.
chinok, I thought that was for 2g. eom
