QLGC mentioned on cnbc as a favored mid cap.
I read his NYTimes column regularly. IMO, he sees thinks smarter, quicker, and clearer than most everyone else. I think he's brilliant.

Buffett says to invest more in energy-WSJ Wed Jun 22, 1:58 AM ET
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Billionaire investor Warren Buffett said his Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE:BRKA - news) is willing to invest more money in the U.S. energy sector than the $10 billion to $15 billion he previously discussed, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.
At a conference of utility commissioners from U.S. Western states in Boise, Idaho, and in an interview with the Journal, Buffett also said he sees more opportunities in the utilities industry, including nuclear power.
Buffett did not specify how much Berkshire was willing to spend but he made it clear his company will invest more.
"The bigger, the better," he told the newspaper. "It's better to do a $10 billion deal than 10 $1 billion deals."
In the interview, Buffett said he is keeping an open mind about investing in a new generation of nuclear-power plants that would not create air pollution.
Berkshire has already announced plans to buy U.S. utility PacifiCorp from Britain's Scottish Power PLC (SPW.L) for $5.1 billion.
Buffett said he would invest heavily in power-transmission lines, broaden energy markets and undertake other efforts to improve electricity reliability after the PacifiCorp deal closes.
Pledging such moves could help him win support from western state officials who must approve the deal, the report said.

QLGC looks like it could be headed to 37.30 after a little ping-pong at 32. If it gets to 37.30, the measured move would be 45.44, new highs:

Biomira Inc (BIOM) (1.80 -0.29)
BIOMIRA INC. released more data from a study for a lung cancer vaccine being developed with Germany's Merck KGaA, and its shares fell. The company said additional data from the midstage study showed that patients using the vaccine survived longer than those without. The vaccine, called BLP25, is designed to treat nonsmall-cell lung cancer, the type of cancer most associated with smoking. "I think it's odd that the stock is down. (The data) is moving the drug ahead," said Karen Boodram, an analyst with Pacific International Securities in Canada. "It's showing a survival advantage, and you compare that with other therapies that are in the market or in development currently and under review, and that's significant survival data to warrant moving forward." Are investors finally wise to Sirius?
The satellite radio company is adding subscribers in droves but deepening losses as it wildly overpays for snazzy content deals. No wonder 3 top execs dumped 1 million shares last month.
By Jon D. Markman
Each new day seems to bring once highflying stocks back down to Earth. One of the most gravitationally challenged is Sirius Satellite Radio (SIRI, news, msgs), whose market value has tumbled 36% since the start of a year in which it was supposed to be launched on its path to glory.

I still remember the day it went up 19 pts. Did I sell? Nope.
looks like the drop in Q
so far, so good though. keep me posted! thanks
thanks AD. sounds pretty good.
Any positive QLGC news??
Analysts believe QLogic Corp. (Nasdaq: QLGC - message board) is also making gains with low-end switches, a segment of the market that Brocade dominates. A looming Cisco-QLogic partnership for 4-Gbit/s switches could give Brocade more headaches down the road (see Cisco & QLogic: Headed for Huddle).
“Cisco is clearly taking aim at Brocade’s core market with aggressive pricing and a likely QLogic OEM deal,” Robert W. Baird & Co. Inc. analyst Dan Renouard wrote in a note to clients today. Renouard added the McData’s new 24-port low-end Sphereon switch and management “credibility issues” could be hurting Brocade.

08:00 IBM IBM shortfall creates buying opportunity in hardware/storage stocks - Piper (83.64 )
Piper Jaffray notes that a number of stocks are lower trading in a knee-jerk reaction to IBM's revenue/earnings miss last night. Firm believes that nearly all of the IBM shortfall was due to: 1) services shortfall, 2) server and storage product transition issues, and 3) PC market share/revenue loss due to the sale of the PC business to Lenovo. Firm believes that nearly all of the shortfall was either IT services-specific or IBM-specific in nature. Firm reits Outperform on Seagate (STX), Western Digital (WDC), Komag (KOMG), Dell (DELL), and Network Appliance (NTAP) as firm does not view IBM shortfalls as a threat to hard disk drive stocks and systems. Firm also believes that IBM's results could have a negative top-line effect on QLogic (QLGC), Brocade (BRCD), and McData (MCDTA). However, firm reits Outperform on QLogic given its recent weakness already. --Briefing.com
thanks everyone for your quick response! i have a student who wants to track 7-11.
Would someone please give me the symbol for 7-11 stores? Thanks
You won't believe it jra (well, maybe you will) but I was in Paris, France when JCOM took its recent beating. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise - no time to fret and hang on the computer all day. Instead, I was taking a late night boat ride on the Seine. Notre Dame Cathedral and it's flying buttresses are fantastically lit at night.
About JCOM...looks like it's coming back. What do you think? I think I got lucky today with my recent addition of ELX. News of beating earnings by .06 made it pop in the after hrs. and the domino effect helped QLGC too.
thanks for the post steviee. luckily, i own both QLGC and ELX. just added to my ELX yesterday at 18.40 - although it went a bit lower during the day.
QLGC and ELX shooting up in after hrs. ELX expects to beat by $.06?
In QLGC today at 42.10
Upraded to 52.00 yesterday - probably doesn't mean a thing!
Hey jra! Well, do you think it's going higher? I always sell too soon...but this time I wanted to enjoy the 5 bucks profit since buying at 35. You in?
Zeev, I sold all of my JCOM today at 40.00. I'm not sure if the market has enough mo-mo to get it to 41. Any ideas?
qlgc? i thought it was on a roll...
You sound as though you think it's headed down! I'm going for up...
added to QLGC yesterday and ELX the day before...here's to storage!
LOL!
<<KKD - Dead Cat Bounce, or reversal? I'm not sure. Eat more donuts, and you'll improve the chances for a reversal!>>
Eat more for a reversal, but will you live to enjoy the profits? !
Zeev, are you still holding MAMA? I'm wondering if yesterday was a one-hit wonder.
looks like Torrey Pines in San Diego...my neck of the woods.
Zeev, you mentioned 2/16 as a retrench. Do you mean that from this last top into the 16th is the retrench and then up from there to the 23rd as your "last hurrah"? Just looking back at my Zeev notes!
