Anybody know who makes DECT phones? I would like to invest in one of those. Huff said 50% of the world's population has never made a phone call. Get a $10 DECT phone in there hands! What's the margin on a $10 DECT phone. A good reason for an aquisition.
"CenterLine" - The center of it all via a line.
"MagicMoney" - Send Money via IP.
"StrateVoIP" - Voice over IP via a Stratellite.
"StratePhone - Voice over IP Phone service via a Stratellite.
"Sanswire" - Transmit, communicate 'without wires'.
"GlobeTel" - a GLOBAL telecom.
The tell is all there IMO. I get it, I get it. Go GlobeTel. Pump - Pump - Pump
Sirius. I agree; also I look at this this way. You can't spend that much to build it just to float it up to 30,000+ and have it ripped to shreds or come spiraling down. I am sure it has been tested and tested and tested and will be. The 30,000+ is noted because they feel it is a milestone height.
I think with GTE people need to start using some common sense in analyzing the company and the people running the company. They are not newbies in their sectors.
Doctor, sometimes you try something and it doesn't work as you expected (test), so you make adjustments and try (test) again. I think that was the gist of Huff's remarks on the Strat IMHO. Lots of things had to be adjusted over the last 2 yrs. to get it to this point. i.e. fully rigid ship design, Photovolactic cells to improve, ground to air systems, etc. I believe they have probably been testing all along and with some (if not alot) of failures.
Awesome segment. Anybody hear what that last question was and what they were disagreeing about?
Logan, what kind of a post is that!??! What do you mean? How do you know? What are the indicators? I am curious to know rather than just reading a 'sound off'.
Mide, can you explain your statement...
Note, btw, that the BOD did NOT follow the back price feature in the Management Plan 2004 or the Director's Plan in 2004 (which gave them options at .585 cents) when they granted themselves share compensation for 2005. They priced them at market close on day of the grant Nov. 2005 at 2.12 a share.
I'm not sure if you mean it's telling in a good way or bad way. Sorry for my ignorance here, like when I talk to people about my programming and they get that glossy eyed look, that's what happens to me reading financial things, hard for me to comprehend without going over and over.
Yes, I did read the Miami post but wasn't sure which points applied or didn't apply to GTE.
Have a good day, to you and Lowtrade.
Updated last message with correct link.
Low,
Agreed but thinking (and you are right, I am going on gut only - but gut from reading and learning) if I average down I need the pps to get to $2.50 to break even vs. $4.00. I high risk given this stock and company's position/press right now.
Maybe not the topic for this board?!
Low/Mide,
Great posts.
Just my opinion but I wouldn't go after Huff so much as the BOD and others that have alot of investment/stock/broker experience.
I believe I have heard mention of Solomon Bros., Merrill Lynch, Arthur Anderson? in some press (with re: to past work experience of some employess); I tried to find those but could not. It would just seem to me that an engineer of Huff's level would not be that financially savy. Example...
Mr. Lynch, former Chief Financial Officer for First Data Corporation - Latin America, has over 25 years experience in accounting, banking and card-related products. He began his career as an officer for the Irving Trust Company (now Bank of New York) and later as a Vice President of Security Pacific National Trust Company. In addition, Mr. Lynch has owned and operated several successful "acquiring-and-issuing" card companies in the United States and in Mexico.
I like that Mide has brought it up but in no way do I think we point all fingers at Huff. That's just not mature imo.
Also, Mide and Low, what is your take on this part of the proxy? Page 11. Isn't this a way for the company to review officer compensation and justify it? Maybe I'm completely off base.
http://investor.globetel.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=67726&p=irol-SECText&TEXT=aHR0cDovL2NjYm4uMTBrd...
Lowtrade,
Thanks for the reply. I too feel that the 'crooks' are hiding and was wondering what the long term effects of them 'not in play' might be. I'm looking to average down my overall pps as i see this as a stablizing time and with many good things outlined in PR's. I know it's risky but have to recoup my loses and still believe in this Company and still do not believe BOD are tainted.
Well isn't this volume interesting?!
Low and others how does this impact charts? It would seem that all TA would need to be re-factored?
Is the price is staying down because of retail buyers now?
It doesn't seem like anyone is keeping it down or is there??
Grapes,
You will have what you want and lots more with the Strat, Super Hub and Hotzone.
The Strat will be like a 13mile high cell tower in a sense so yes broadband on the move so too speak. Keep digging for info on the net and check Rocky's board.
http://www.liveboards.com/mb/server/board.cgi?B=107876
Grapes,
Try www.globetel.net website. Read all the investor releases as well as web content.
To me you can't really compare a pcmcia card with Hotzone and Superhub. As well it is only my opinion, but I believe pcmcia is on the downside of its life cycle. Wifi etc. is built into MB's now. (Or am I missing your point?)
Also, see if someone can post a link to T. Huff's interview on the day GTE rang the bell on Amex (i think it was or close to that). He will explain a lot for you imo.
Future, I hear you on that. I've lost a bundle on paper and more for real on other stock plays. I think that frustation and the feeling that I wasn't being informed prompted me to go back and comb through the PR's. Doing that has helped me see that the company has been transparent and forthcoming within their reasonable grounds and for the benefit of the shareholders. I think alot of mis-information and desires come from reading this board and those that want to know "insider"-like information. Digging up connect-the-dots information to me is not necessarily good DD and maybe detrimental imo. I look forward to the next month's PR's although I am scared about the wolves and circling wagons.
Future, I wasn't insinuating anything about you. Just a comment on the language and syntax.
BTW - On your mention of ...
It's clear now that Huff didn't follow that path with the Internafta deal. Completely his fault? Probably not.
But as the CEO, he is to be held responsible
How do you come to that conclusion? I have come to realize that the only information I can trust is directly from the company's investors relations and company's press releases. And I have to constantly go back and read and re-read them as they are packed with the correct information. (Start from 2yrs ago and read forward) I have to exclude the Strat timelines/deadlines and I believe the company stopped using the strat for PPS gain a year ago when it was realized or Mr. Jones may of said, you can't do that on this type of project as there are so many variables that can change the flow.
And as you stated "he is to be held responsible" I believe he took that responsibility as outlined in the release where BOD and T. Huff agreed to set goals. (Can't post link as it is gone from web site, anybody have a copy?)
Have a good weekend, did not mean to offend just to point out.
"Housedad" sending that email in a way gives credability to that POC article this morning, which there is no way to tell if it is legit. Byron is a pawn, a flatfoot in his dreams. Ignore him, I wouldn't send it, it only fuels his fire.
As for the article this morning it states it comes off of Vedomosti business daily an english paper in Russia founded by the wall street journal and the financial times.
Anybody have any info on prinicples of either WSJ or FT?
http://www.medialifemagazine.com/news1999/oct99/news21012.html
Is the article possibly just BS put out by shorters to try and drive PPS down? It seems with this low volume and activity that the creepy crawlers have fled to the dark corners, no? Problem is they are still alive and probably just as addicted to GTE as we longs.
Easy with the bashing Future. Most of your posts start out negative. (I'll believe that when I read it; frustration; FURIOUS; do raise heck).
What would you do different if you were CEO and how would it be proactive and productive for the company and us shareholders?
"Irishace" my mailbox says I have mail from you but cannot access it.
It's incredible how low the volume is here today with the GTE'rs and GTETA'rs. Hope everyone has a good weekend. I look forward to June and some positive news and revenues!
Pit - don't forget to take your meds. Cheers
Not sure which board to post this question to so JustFrank please adjust accordingly.
Assuming that the MM or shorters or both were scared off, aka the low volume (or its due in part to the first long wknd in awhile) what happens if and when good news breaks and the PPS starts to rise. You know they can't keep their hands out of the cookie jar. Wouldn't now be the time for a 'sting' or something pro-active to prevent or minimize the next attack or push - down?
BTW - if you have a solution don't post it here because I am sure these iRooms have eyes.
Anyway just a thought as trying to understand all this and hope to make some money lost back. Took a big hit on qbid today.
I lost $6000+. Sucks. I thought they had a good product.
The same MM's that have been shorting this stock and keeping it down all along. Sure blame Frank for everything but MM's haven't helped the situation.
cpmac, thanks I realize that but was trying to make a point for further/future.
Sirius/et al, While this is a good letter/email that someone obviously spent time and effort on, I for one am against sending it. I believe that if nobody responds to these jokers then there is no payoff for their efforts and therefore there efforts will go else where. I also believe that "first amendment rights" prevail here and hence the GTE (fluffy) response. I am sure they consulted with thier council before issuing a PR and were told what to expect and how to word it. I would imagine that GTE could sue for liable (and win) but it would be after WiMax, Strat and money cards were producing significant revenue at which time it may be mute.
(Unless at that time going after Murdoch with deeper pockets was more beneficial than negative)
I firmly believe that the best we can do as investors is support GTE by staying long and treating the company like we would like to be treated if in their shoes. Tell our friends about GTE and why we like it, and that right now is a great buyin time.
Please don't email David Simms from the TMC re: his article it's not worth it IMVHO.
Faster, me too!! Have lost thousansd. How come I'm not posting like you folks? I'm reading this board looking for info not opinions. And really not interested in bitter ex-investors. It's posters like you guys that are one of the reasons I haven't subscribed to this investors hub board. (Hello to Matt on that)
So because of you two, more Niz than yourself, I've removed this board from my favorites. I suggest you get over the loss, recoup it somewhere else and move on with your life, seems like a waste of time to keep bashing here unless you get some gain from it.
Niz and faster, sure sounds/smells like you two posters are the same person.
Why why why with the negative banter? Can't you say anything positive?
And my final positive note, the news has been out for 2 months...
To you, our shareholders, I can only assure you that you have one of the most committed, dedicated, hard working, focused and energized management teams to ever occupy the American Stock Exchange. We eat, sleep and breathe GlobeTel. We believe, as we rush to populate our management ranks with more high quality, deeply experienced, international business executives, that the next stage of the company’s growth is now at hand. Our R&D costs and our capital expenditures are behind us and, now, this is the year for ramping up our people resources and our operating profits. Our expanding management team has as its mantra: Deploy the technology. Generate the revenues. This, during the remainder of 2006, is our overwhelming focus. We are striving to make every Division in the company profitable by year-end. Considering the unique, highly marketable technologies that we have created and the many markets that we are already tapping, the future for GlobeTel and its owners (i.e. you and me) has never looked brighter. We thank you for continued support and hope to reward you handsomely for it.
J. Randolph Dumas
Chairman of the Board
GlobeTel Communications Corp.
Alot of questions regarding news...My two and a half cents if you can indulge me.
If you read the 3/31/06 Letter to SH's.
Globetel Wireless...
At the moment, GlobeTel Wireless is our leading contender for near term profitability on a significant scale. Like the other Divisions, GlobeTel Wireless will achieve its greatest potential when it is integrated with our (i) Stratelliteä near-space airship, (ii) our “Magic Money” digital, Stored Value Cards, (iii) our StrateVoIP telephony services, and (iv) our Centerline switching backbone which will tie many of these services together into a neat GlobeTel bundle
So I would doubt that any news re: Wireless will be coming too soon as it needs (i) to complete.
Magic Money...
Full Divisional profitability expected in the third quarter of this year
Nope doesn't look like any news there.
StrateVoIP...
The objective for our VoIP Division for the remainder of this year and into the next will be to create a network of such platforms which are intertwined through our proprietary VoIP system, giving users expanded reach to both members and non-members of their ethnic communities around the world. Simultaneous with these initiatives, which we anticipate will produce a Divisional breakeven in the third quarter and significant profit in the fourth quarter, the Division is also working aggressively to integrate its unique technologies into the Hotzoneä Wireless system which will add a multitude of new applications and opportunities as GlobeTel Wireless rolls out its wireless networks around the world. This represents another strand in the ultimate Super-Hub strategy, while creating significant stand-alone profitability in the meantime.
Nope, third/fouth quarter news there.
Centerline...
Joe’s profitability is expected to continue to increase over the course of this coming year— stabilizing at what we anticipate will be a gross profit margin something on the order of $500,000 to $750,000 per month. And, this reliable revenue source has, and will continue to be, important to us while our other Divisions complete their run-up to profitability during 2006. Another secret, by the way, is that Joe’s company-owned switches, combined with his significant network of fiber-optic cable leases— will form a valuable part of our global Super-Hub, once it is in place
Well that already happened. I believe it was reported that $350k/mth NET was acheived.
BUT there is a hint at the end of the paragraph.
Sanswire— The Stratellite...
The Sanswire team is planning to flight test Sanswire II, our final “technology demonstrator”, in the immediate future at Edwards Air Force Base. Currently, Sanswire II is undergoing various systems tests and systems integration at our Palmdale, California facility. We’re waiting for clearance from the Edwards Range for the test flights. Having floated Sanswire II in the California desert at the end of February, our Stratelliteä Division, under the energetic and visionary leadership of former NASA Mission Director and decorated Air Force Pilot, Bob Jones, is now prepared to commence its high altitude testing in June, and continue through the summer. First, however, there will be further testing of various subsystems leading to further tethered flight tests. The tethered tests will be followed by un-tethered taxi tests at Palmdale, which is located just a short distance from Edwards AFB. After validating and completing the Combined Systems tests, we will conduct an un-tethered flight test at Edwards, and this is when we will be preparing ourselves, shortly thereafter, to break the World Altitude Record for an Advanced Rigid Airship.
Hmmm, June is a little more than a week away.
I would bet it won't be until June for bigger news unless some of the things that were not mentioned but were in the works get signed. We can only hope and support at this point.
Over and out. Go Redsox.

Bueller, Bueller, ... anyone??
Don't know what to say Japbrat. Personally as a long myself I have to put some faith in the company and can't possibly know everything. I really don't care who they (Caterhams)are since they coughed up the money for real, or at least it looks that way on the books. Can you tell me why I should be more concerned?
I think the biggest thing to do is to go and re-read the PR's. Especially the letter to shareholders from Dumas. I believe it to hold all the answers. If you read it closely and compare with PR's before and after the company has been nothing but honest and everything is coming to fruition.
Granted some timelines and deadlines were wrong or missed but that has happened to me in every company I have worked for; nothing to call 'wolf' about.
My biggest concern and fear is that the SP will be driven so low by outside forces - that is how I will those my thousands, I do not believe it will be because of this current management. If I thought this company was a 'sham/scam/monster' then I would of just sold out and moved on a long time ago. Heck, the time I would of saved not having to come here to read all these posts would have been great and profitable.
This is a incredible story imo, it's Global, it's about communications, it's about shaking up the TELCO's. (Do you think they are happy about losing all the long distance revenue?) It's about famous people, political people, David and Goliath, little investors, big money etc.
And for a rebuttal question for you and the NYP and anyone else is the following a true or false statement from Dumas letter March 31st 2006....
"In India, for example, in an exclusive partnership with the largest financial processor in the country, FSS (partly owned by the Carlyle Private Equity Group, of which President George H. W. Bush is a Senior Advisor)"
Is that BS? Is Bush and advisor? Maybe some of you can call the white house or Kennebunkport.
Not a bad letter but felt the writer weakened at the end.
I really hope everyone does not start sending NYPost emails. Send the WSJ or Times or Washington Post. Some competing paper with respect. The Post is a rag IMHO.
Good luck to the real longs and stay with the ship.
Msturgeo, You make so much sense that it will never happen.
What I do is go to Rocky's board and check there. He, to me is the voice and the liason between Co. and longs.
lowtrade.
Thanks for the reply. I have already considered and looked into a few of the things you mentioned and will dig deeper.
My gut, which means emotion I know, is saying it could be risky due to Skype (just announced free calling to Canada til Jan 07), Google (gtalk and IM in the game),AOL with its new VoIP and Verizon FIOS are all completing hard now. Vonage has 1.6mil subscribers now so that makes each one about $900 worth based on outstanding shares and an average of 4yrs to recoup off of each subscriber. I have heard good and bad things about customer serive.
They are raising money for expansion but still haven't got the best product all around IMO so I am skeptical that the IPO will hold up after release.
Will keep digging.
"Lowtrade"
Question for you or anyone re: Vonage. I received a an IPO prospectus from Vonage (VG) to purchase shares around $16.00 for being a customer. Do you have any info/advice/caveats?
Thanks.
Actually a good day for swingers. As a long I am still waiting for price at reverse. ;>)
Any one care to comment on where the share price will be brought down to when the shorts start to step in? $1.31 or lower?
Friends, it may be interesting to see the growth of Vozbrasil thru the website traffic. You can use http://www.alexa.com/data/details/?url and enter www.vozbrazil.com for stats. Too early to tell now but in a month would be interesting.
Shakey,
I believe it is US and Canada only and is only until the end of the year. http://www.itwire.com.au/content/view/4315/127
SkypeOut now free within North America
By Stuart Corner
Tuesday, 16 May 2006
Skype has made SkypeOut calls to all US and Canadian landline and mobile numbers free until the end of the year for Skype customers located in those countries.
Skype expects the move to expand its customer base in these markets and "solidify Skype's position as the Internet's voice communication tool of choice".
The move will not be replicated in other countries and in many countries would be completely unsustainable. Charges for terminating calls on mobile network are around twenty cents per minute in many countries and charges to terminate calls on fixed networks, while lower are far from insignificant.
Last week Skype released a new beta version of its software that adds more features and functionality to Skype's voice and video calling options, including: SMS; simplified dialing; payments in Skype; Outlook contact integration; call quality management; simplified registration; shared contact groups; and improved conference calling.
On May 1, after just more than two and a half years in operation, Skype achieved 100 million registered users worldwide.
Personally I don't think eBay is concerned with Globetel yet at all. For now they are just writing software and piggy backing on existing wiring and hardware. The Strat would help their business as would Globetel's VoIP as described by Huff in interview before going to AMEX.
Mide.
That's VOZ man. VOZ not VOY.
That's three errors in two posts. VozBrasil.
Imagine if you were doing the press releases.
Or running a company. That mistake could cost the shareholders millions! What's your IR number? My god the outrage! My money, my money! A call to arms everybody.
Just kidding. Trying to make a point at your expense, SORRY, couldn't let it go after reading so many crazy posts lately.
Looks like I have to eat my own words. I looked up VozBrasil in the us trademarks search
http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/gate.exe?f=doc&state=h62o7p.1.1
And saw that it is GlobeTel. I then went back and reread the first paragraph of the PR and it is right there, "GlobeTel Communications Corp. (AMEX:GTE), today announced the launch of VozBrasil(TM) (http://www.vozbrasil.com), a service which will allow Brazilians to call their friends
Globetel launched it so they get all the money from it!!
