Marvelmeister2002:
First thanks to Bob and you for first class posts on this company.
Just a thought--what might be in the back of the minds of the institution guys (and gals) is a Stage 5 hurricane--maybe Ivan has a big brother we haven't met yet (Nicolai?). People are very freaked out about those hurricanes.
Would a Stage 5 wreck oil rigs? I guess a hurricane expert could tell us.
Tnanks again to Bob and you. Definitely will start a position. Still ain't as exciting as TGA pumping black gold out of the Yemeni desert.
Kicking myself for not buying more TGA when I found this board a couple of months ago. A whole 500 shares. Shoulda, woulda, coulda.

Wade, another thing re CKCM:
I wonder whether management has the experience needed to integrate the acquisitions successfully? The OPTUM deal means assuming $4+M in debt. Deals are diluting O/S to a significant degree, though the new total still will be moderately small. 2005 could be a tricky year for these guys. The stock price indicates to me that not everyone is impressed with what they are doing.

I couldn't really figure out the RFIC connection by visiting their website. Had totally forgotten that you mentioned an acquisition.
Management seem pretty young but obviously know what it is all about. Maybe mid-30's is the perfect age to run a company like this?
You an get info overload at that website. The list of customers knocks your eyes out.
Thanks--bbotcs

Hope you're getting rich at this game, cause if your putting your mother's IRA money in stuff like ALMI, you might end up supporting her someday. How old are you? Were your around in 2000?

MMRK is not long on stock performance. Also, the business is not exactly vertically integrated. Unless you like the dividend, there are far better plays offered here--far better. JMO.

Thanks for posting the upgrade. I am thinking that this thing could go back to the 52-week high if we get some more upgrades. This one belongs on the ZCC board I think? Definitely not a VMC.

RRainman9999: Congrats. The "R" must stand for "rich" rainman.

PE seems to be kinda high. Comparing its and EGY's PE--guess I would put new $ into EGY.

I have made a watch list of stocks mentioned here.
This one looks like it is trying to break out. Any comments?

IH really is worth the price of admission. I finally put up the money a couple of weeks ago. The features that are well worth the money are (1) the private email, and (2) reading ten messages at a time. With the second feature, you can fly through the posts. That is especially great if you are still using a dial up modem. No more, click then wait, click then wait.
Joining IH is like owning a $10 stock that you bought for 10 cents. It is great.

ALTI: $4.60 last time I checked. I got in around $2.40 and immediately posted here. Bought a whopping 500 shares. Thank me. Had I bought 1000, it would have gone back down!
I stumbled onto this today--ALTI. It seems that they have developed the next generation rechargeable battery. It sounds amazing, but you gotta wonder whether Duracell or whoever would want it on the market, since batteries are a volume business.
Wouldn't jump in with 2 feet today, but you might want to think about this one. FWIW.
Lentinman:
Or should I say, Lenten man, since this is Ash Wednesday.
I think that we are in a market top since the nuts are coming out of the woodwork. I get mail solicitations from at least 2-3 newletters every day. Now you say CNBC is giving us astrological forecasts for the market. What next--Anna Nicole Smith giving us her stock picks.
A friend sent me a write up (don't remember the name of the outfit) giving some "big" picks for 2005. There were two--one was SGP. I kind of agree. They're advertising their cholesterol drug like "H"--Vitoryin--don't have the spelling right cause I don't pay atttention. Ain't interested.
I'm convinced that the guys at the FDA have been on the take from the big drug companies. The lowered cholesterol goals are a pile of crap as far as I'm concerned. But the dumb doctors seem to buy everything that the pharmaco guys say. Any way, if SGP's V drug drags the cholesterol numbers down, it'll sell. The sheep will line up.

Fellow investors, especially Canadians/Canadiennes:
Does anyone know of a good mutual fund that invests in Canroys?
My eyes are blood shot from reading about CANROYs recommended by friends. I've figured the best way to go would be to let a professional pick the Canroys. Can't try to bat home runs all of the time. More income you get, the more you can invest in zip-code changers, like TGA. Man do I like that company. Thank you Bobwins for sharing your knowledge. Without it, I probably wouldn't have gone there.
bbotcs
Sorry, but everything that would "change my zip code" is on the main board. We need to find the next hot stock in nanotech, broadband or some other sexy area, like tight jeans (a reference to TLTG that is talked about on the main board.) Wish the main board had been around about 6 months ago.
Need to start picking my wife's brain about what she likes at the mall. Good place to pick up ideas. Wish I had investigated Coach when she made me get her one of their bags for bags 2 years ago.
Maybe Totoya or Honda would change our zip codes. They are coming out with some new models and redesigns this spring. Gonna put the Americans and Germans to shame. I can see myself in the Honda pickup. Love the well in the back. You can throw a tailgate party from hell.
I'd settle for a stock that would change my license plate.
Sorry, Bob, that should have gone on the Zip-code board.

here is another internet play--AQNT. DD'ing this one now. Like the profit margin.

Seems strange, doesn't it. A hedge fund taking a position?
Since I bought some due to Bobwin's generous sharing of his knowledge and opinions, I am not going to argue with success.
Hope tho it doesn't become a takeover target--would hate to lose this gem.
bbotc
Negative for tomorrow?
Heard on the news that a British troop-transport helocopter crashed. Capacity is something like 130 people. They are being pretty tight-lipped about the number of casualties. If the number is high, the Brits are liable to make moises about their troop commitment. Losing the support of your number one ally would be bad. My guess is that the market would take a very dim view of a loss of support for the war in England.
Really seems to be suspect that there is no casualty number yet.

RRainman9999:
I bought some too. What might keep it down is the low float since it might limit its appeal to institutions. Guess some hedge funds could buy in, though. Hope the earnings report gives us a surprize. All of the news lately has been about new or renewed business. Airlines are not in style--maybe as individuals we are lucky to be able to buy this.
Here's hoping for a pleasant flight.

stock_peeker:
CTEX.pk gives me the creeps.
They did a 2/1 reverse split with no explanation in the PR.
It trades on the pinks, which limits its appeal to big investors. What am I missing?
bbotcs
It'll be interesting to see if the frigid weather in the Mid-West on the East Coast will affect the price of oil. Energy consumption will be extremely high this weekend. On the other hand, people won't be driving as much.
lentinman:
But, suppose a company is about to go into the black?
Say that management has predicted a profit for the next quarter.
To me, that is a "value microcap".
Do we go to the "Zip Code Changers" until it actually comes out with a 10Q announcing a profit?
That seems reasonable.
Appreciate your vigilance. It is hard to find a true VM these days. Believe me, I am looking!
bbotcs
Thank you Bobwins. BSIC is a VM if ever I saw one.
The profit margin looks terrific, low float, no debt that I saw,
40 percent insider ownership. Need to do some more dd, but it looks good.
bbotcs
Frank Miller is arriving on the
noon train. He is going to recommend IBM. LOL!
Sad market. Is the next bubble going to be in the pinks?
Awful lotta talk about them going around these days.
Be careful.
Great board, by the way. I have picked up TGA and TLTD as a lottery ticket. I have a limit on the number of pinks that I own at one time--5. Percentage of portfolio--maybe 1 percent.
I reckon that the the sheriff would approve.

Bobwins:
I've seen so many posts on TGA that I dd'd and bought some.
It seems to me that there is oil up the wazoo in Yemen and that is where they should focus their exploration. If the price of a barrel gets pricey enough, my guess is that they'll come up with a Plan B to move the excess oil they could pull up.
What I am reading into your post is that TGA might hit $10-12 next year. This assumes a pe of around 10-12 on earnings of $1 and a barrel of oil going for the bargain price of $50 U.S.
Seems TGA is a fair-value microcap. Maybe I'm being too stingy with the pe.
The idea of a small outfit pumping oil out of the desert in Yemen sure sounds alluring. If oil gets really high, the Yemen things adds a little sex appeal, maybe. (Sex appeal? Forbidden in Yemen for sure) This company has me scratching my hair-challenged head.--bbotcs
Argyll and Niles: Thanks. EOM
Does anyone have any good stocks that trade on the Toronto exchange. Oil and gas stocks preferred, but I am open to any good quality company that could change my zip code. My goal is to move 20-25 percent of my assets into Canadian stocks. I believe that their economy will remain strong for the next 100 years. TIA.
jbwstock:
I don't whether MLTM is a "zip-code-changer" or a VMC, but I like it. It is REAL volatile, though.
The $64 thousand dollar question is "when will China stop building?" How much steel will go into their auto industry over the longer term? The fact of the matter is nobody knows the answers to those questions, so I guess it is smart just to sock away the steel companies and forget them for a few years.
Having 25 percent of your portfolio in steel ain't such a bad idea.
Well, my eyes are blood shot from looking at the tape all day and it is almost time for happy hour.

I have a bowling buddy who is a very knowledgeable car buff. He knows his engines. Well, low and behold he will be visiting Phoenix for about a week at the end of March. I will turn him on to this stock and release him into the wild.
I'll ask him to check out the merchandise. He loves to look at used cars. If he is willing, I'll get him to email me the results of his investigation.
He doesn't like bb stocks, so no guarantees from management that this will work. But, this guy knows cars, plays the market, and goes to Phoenix several times a year.

I didn't know that it was in jail!
I am in a crazy mood today. Must be the lunar cycle.
Took a quick look and I like it. And at the current price, I guess that it could change my zip code if it goes over the wall. [Naw, I haven't had a thing to drink this early in the day. Just trying to cheer myself up after checking my stock portfolio.]

Bobwins:
As I told to "lentinmann", I wouldn't question your judgment.
But I fear that management might change it's zip code--to Mexico! LOL! Just joshing. 29.99 percent interest. Ouch!!
A $10,000 used car will cost you $3,000 a year in interest. Buy a used motorcycle. This is kind of humorous. I won't be laughing if it hits $3. Best of luck to you, sir.
bbotcs
lentinman:
I wouldn't second-guess Bobwin's--he is one sharp tack.
But, if these guys are charging 29.99 percent interest to people with bad credit, are they going to look out for the investors? Seems like they would sell their grandmothers to raise capital. LOL!

researcher59: IPII
As I read posts this evening, I see that maybe half are about your IPII. Without looking too closely at this, might I opine that management could be holding off on a reverse split in hopes that the quarterly report will impress enough to get the stock price up? Then, maybe they could get listed on the AMEX.
I don't know. Just reading between the lines solely based on the posts on this board tonite!
Florida construction sounds like a sure bet.
Sometimes stocks drop after a reverse split. If what I read here is on the money, doesn't sound like this one would. Unless they split at the height of hurrican season! That might shake out some weak sisters!
From an "alert reader"--MDF
I am going to miss Dave Barry and his "alert reader" items.
This morning I saw a 17K share purchase of MDF go by on the tape. It looked awfully familiar, so I checked back on this board, and there it was. FWIW. That was a big lot for a value microcap. I don't follow MDF, but maybe I will start. Somebody obviously thinks it's a deal.
