PDGE--Thanks for posting your views on this poor performer, men (and ladies, I guess). I'm long this one, looking for it to be a 2006 multibagger. High hopes.
STV up besides "negative" news, ie, issuing additional shares. Seems very positive to me.
What we need to see are PRs announcing more contracts.
I rode this thing to $28 and watched it get clobbered. I don't see it getting back there any time soon unless it gets some major awards out of the highway bill and the backlog doubles.
Safe stock to own, in any event, unless the price of asphalt skyrockets as a result of the highway bill. By the way, speaking of asphalt, Cramer likes ALJ as an asphalt play. Haven't dd'd it, so forgive me, Len, if it's not a VM. I'm just mentioning it in passing.

STV--issuing stock--dilution. eom
Not even close--#13. Right now I'd be thrilled to make the top 10. Go energy stocks!
A real cliffhanger--will I recover my #11 spot? Put another way, did VPHM's close on Friday give me a bump up? Film at 11!
echos:
It is a VERY dangerous occupation, or I should say vocation.
One of my three first cousin's is a police officer in a large metropolitan police force. His district is a high-crime area. He has eaten himself off of the street! He is overweight and has high-blood pressure. Don't think he realizes that is the reason he has a desk job, but I'm not going to suggest that he get his weight under control for 9 more years when he can retire!
I didn't read the facts of the tarmac shooting case. I am not faulting the air marshall. He had a gun and did what he was supposed to do. But I wouldn't be surprised to see them equipped with both taser weapons and firearms after this incident. They could have tasered the poor sap the second that he stepped out of line. More than one schizo is shot dead by law enforcement officers every year in the U.S. under circumstances similar to what occured in Florida this week. They reach into a pocket or sack or whatever and bang, they are dropped. There has to be a better way to handle it. But, again, I'm not saying an officer should wait to see was a suspect pulls out of hig bag before opening fire.
Again the only thing positive that I can see coming out of that mess is that it sent a clear message to terrorists--U.S. air marshalls mean business.
bbotcs
I seldom post here, but I have to say this. Don't understand why the air marshalls had to drop that poor guy yesterday. Seems to me that they should have had taser guns. Unless he was threatening to lob a grenade or something, that was a totally unnecessary killing.
On the flip side, it says to terrorists that the U.S. marshalls will shoot first and ask questions later. That killing might actually deter terrorists.
On the whole, though, it seems uncivilized to me.
HURC: Positive "Motley Fool" article out today. The stock is rippin'! One negative pointed out in the article is that the weakened U.S.$ helped sales in Europe. If China sales get big and their currency stays pegged to the U.S. dollar, exchange rates will become less of a concern.
If nothing else, this stock has momentum in a big way. Again, the low float acts an an exuberance turbo charger. A little bit of investor exuberance goes a long way.
Congrats to anyone who has HURC as a pick-6 stock.
bbotcs
wadegarretIII's take on HURC:
I second it. It should be a $40 stock if that earnings projection comes true. The float is pretty low, the profit margin is respectable, the trailing PE is moderate, the debt seems to be very manageable, and the growth prospects look good.
Anything can happen of course, but I'd have to put HURC in the "What's not to like?" category. And I'm thinking the fledgling business in China is the wild card. If that took off, imo HURC could fly out of the Milky Way Galaxy.
I sang this song here a couple of week ago. Hope someone picked up on my enthusiasm and bought some.

Bobwins: ngas--weather report
Don't forget the East Coast of the U.S. Unusually cold there too and the weather from the Midwest goes east! Big population centers in New York on down through North Carolina.
New England uses oil.
Of course if ngas uses causes a consumer slowdown which dumps us into a recession, then what! Our ngas stocks do well and everything else goes south! Carpe diem.

10bagger: VPHM
Look at it this way--all of the new shares were sucked up. That is the important thing. Hope the company doesn't use the proceeds to buy a corporate jet! LOL!!

hweb2: HURC
It is having a 3+ point pop in after-hours trading, albeit on very small volume so far.
I do not like the fact that the backlog is less than it was at the end of last year's 4th quarter. The CEO mentions the success of the trade show in Hanover, Germany, but says nothing about growth in Asia, unless I misread. Definitely need to listen to a conference call if they have one.
If they can keep eps growth at say 20 percent, this is a $40 stock. I wonder how being fully taxed in 2006 will affect eps.

swampboots: MDF and XWG
MDF requires patience. I agree with that poster that XWG is ridiculously undervalued. December is bargain-hunting month.
bbotcs
Zen: UGNE
The pharma carriers always put the cheaper version in their formularies, if that is the right term.
But what I like about UGNE's product is that it is better than the original.
Roche is a huge company. Miacalcin is small potatos to them. They have been making money hand over fist cranking out Tamiflu for the past couple of years.
I don't own any UGNE yet. This is going to be a long month in the market.
Thanks.

NCNC: Bobwins
If it is a suitable substitute for concrete, maybe you would want to ask about cost per panel of Quillite vs. a panel of concrete and installation costs of Quil v. concrete. I am thinking that if Quillite is a lot cheaper, the use of sound barriers might become a big industry. I know of places where they should be used but the residents who need them don't even ask because they know the county or State (or province) would not pay for the concrete barriers to placate a couple of hundred taxpapers.
If the answers are what we want to hear, NCNC might be a ticket for a ride to the moon (or to a zip code where the politicians will spring for sound barriers--lol).

re: disappearing accounts
I read that you should check your accounts every day, even when you are on vacation. Immediately report any sale that you didn't make (as if you wouldn't already do that without being told). Also, it is best to receive electronic trade confirmations instead of paper. That way, if there are any false trades, you will see them when you check your email. So, it is important to check your email throughout the day, too.
The people perpetrating these crimes live in the former eastern bloc countries, such as Russia. Bad boys, bad boys, watcha gonna do when Interpol comes for you, bad boys.
Bobwins: NCNC
My question is this: "Do the Quilitte panels blow over 4 times faster in high wind?" It is a serious question. I wonder what they weigh?
I have a pretty good position in NCNC. Thanks for the update.
By the way, I think XWG is finally seeing some tax-loss selling. If it drifts down low enough, it'll be "'om back" time for this investor. Ditto with MDF. December is the month to bargain hunt.

Bobwins: Got Milk? I mean Gold. Bought some more GG today. Cramer likes it, Bobwins likes it, so I like it too.
This gold run is just beginning. It is kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy. As it starts to look like the price could get out of hand, jewelry manufacturers have to jump in and buy. So do dentists who specialize in gold teeth--okay, I'm getting carried away.
By the way, I found a Morningstar article by one Parvathy Krishnan about 4 gold stocks to avoid:
Cambior (CBJ)
Bema Gold (BGO)
Hecla (HL)
DRDGold (DROOY)
The article came out on 11/23. If you go to Yahoo and put in the symbol for almost any reputable gold stock, the article should appear at the bottom as news. Here is a link and it works--I tested it. Happy reading.

MSGI:
First things first. I hope that everything turns out okay for your daughter if there is a problem.
Second, I bought some CDV after comparing it to TARG, a similar company that I saw here last week or the week before.
CDV is the far better value, in my opinion. Conservatively, and I do mean conservatively, CDV is worth $4 a share. To get that, I used a PE of 20 as the growth rate, which is low, and assumed that eps would be .20, which also is low. TARG trades on the otc bb; CDV on the AMEX. In an either-or situation, buying CDV is a no brainer, imo.
Thank you for making us aware of a true value microcap.
bbotcs
MSGI:
YOU just mentioned it! Thanks.
bbotcs
PrinceCove: PDGE
Thanks. That is VERY interesting. If it is true we are going to the AMEX, I can see this stock at $4 in a year if revenues keep growing.
My guess is that the absolute bottom, barring some big disaster, would be $1.50.
stock-peeker: VPHM
I agree. Goldman-Sachs will get them their price.
AITX--omnidirectional state-of-the-art fork lifts
A PR is out today updating investors on the volume of shipments so far this quarter. Revenues are going to increase significantly. I don't have a figure for the profit margin so we are in the dark with regard to valuing this company yet, imo.
One of the negatives is that they are having trouble getting parts to make the product. Parts are slow in arriving, the way I read the PR. That indicates to me that (a) management is not that great or (b) there is a real shortage of some part or parts, or (c) both.
In 3-6 months we should know whether this is going to be a true ZCC. They mention extending the application of their omni-directional technology to wheel chairs, which, if it happens,
could be a huge market.
This is an exciting company but they are far from getting their act together the way I see it. Rome wasn't built in a day, but how hard is it to get parts for forklifts. Guess the answer is in the Annual Report.
huggums:
Thanks, I don't check here frequently enough.
The Tour starts in February, if I'm not mistaken. If they become the greatest thing since sliced bread on The Tour,
I hope that the company will be able to get enough E21.
Let's hope sales are high enough to allow the company to put the company in a position where they can go to a bank to get "regular" financing, as opposed to printing more stock certificates to raise money. Dilution still could kill this stock. That is my big concern--the reason that I haven't jumped in with both feet.
Dale
VPHM is using Goldman Sachs for the offering. They are real wheeler dealers.
Perhaps Viro-Pharma will use the proceeds to purchase a new drug.
Sure glad I sold that covered call or I would be as mad as a hornet. My goal on this stock is now a mere 20 percent profit from $19 and change. And I might as well forget the Pick 6!
UGNE is looking better and better.
EPEX's trading pattern looks very suspect to me.
Speaking of ngas, the weather on the U.S. East Coast, which has a very dense population, will be a lot milder this week. I am thinking that ngas use might be on the light side this winter, but it still is too early to tell. Last week's cold snap was unseasonal.
Zen lunatic420: UGNE
This is interesting and definitely think this one is worth watching. With only a 10-20% price differential for the generic, I don't know that I would have licensed the recombinant technology to Novartis, though. The generic was better than the original. I would have gambled on taking the lion's share of the market! This is a discussion for a UGNE board.
Thanks for calling it to our attention. I for one am very interested.

Bobwins:
Good info--thanks. But I already knew this and have offered the opinion demand from India and China will be huge. The question is, "Will new discoveries keep up with demand?"
But here is what I see as maybe an even better play long run--silver. Why? Because as middle class Americans are priced out of the gold jewelry market, they will substitute the vermeil imitations out there, which are pretty decent looking. They are using 14K gold over sterling silver and I predict it will outsell regular 10K and 14K jewelry in the U.S. (Right now I can buy my wife a decent pair of 14K gold earrings for about $50. I wouldn't pay $100 for the same earrings--she loses them all of the time!)
Bought GG this past week. Will get back into DEZ soon.

We are probably at a market top. Dick Arm the master technicians says his indicators suggest the market is out on a limb. In other words, a correction is coming.
Mr. Cramer this afternoon on CNBC likes stocks like Toyota Google, and Goldman Sachs and a couple more expensive jobs for the next 5 weeks. The inference I took from his remarks is to stay in the high-priced stuff for the next 5 weeks. Guess he means through the end of the year.
Think December will be the month to bottom fish. Personally, I'd like to take off the whole month from the market and come back in January. There is no excitment out there, that's for sure.
Happy Thanksgiving to the U.S. board members.
researcher59:
I gave the Cliff Notes version of your post. I'd like to add though that they claim their osteporeosis drug/nasal spray is relatively cheap (my read of their verbage). What is already on the market, e.g., Fosamax, is expensive and you must wait a half hour after taking it before eating to avoid damaging the esophagus.
With the medical care industry pushing less expensive alternatives to costly drugs, this drug might have a good chance of making it. Would an HMO prescribe the nasal spray or Fosamax? The nasal spray--you betcha. I can see Fosamax and its cousins being bumped from formularies in favor of this one.
But you are right. It is too early to tell where this product is headed. If it is very effective and relatively cheap, pharamcists will be buying the stock soon. Wish I knew a pharamacist!

UGNE: I'm not sure I'd load up the truck yet. They received the final milestone payment, $4M, from Upsher in September. So, I'm guessing the next 10Q won't be as impressive. Before I invest a dime, I want to see an increase in sales of their first product. IMO, this is a $2 stock, an estimate that is subject to revision. The O/S count isn't small.
PDGE--Assume this deal, details nots disclosed, was a stock deal. They are acquiring an asbestos removal/mold remediation company. Hope they realize some economies of scale sooner than later. Too soon to judge.
MSGI: MTXX
I saw it and I thought, "MSGI must own MTXX"! You have to wonder whether it was Zicam or another of the company's product that caused all of those people to lose their senses of taste and smell. Cramer said he had a cold, so I guess he bought some Zicam and went kind of manic. He already has lost his taste--hence the flushing toilet--yuck.
bbotcs
ADBL--It's making noise already. I guess some posters here are turning a deaf ear to my hype! LOL!!
Carrying out the rest of my promise, or threat, however you perceive it, here is my second "new stock":
ADBL (can you year me--lol!)
This could be the new hot area--technology for podcasting.
Podcasting is hot, hot, hot. Maybe it is a fad, I don't know. But there is money to be made, so let's make some!
I found this one at "Motley Fool" also.
Podcasting is basically radio broadcasting over the internet to IPods and other hand-held devices, maybe PC's also--I don't know. I don't listen or care to listen to the stuff. Like Cramer, I just want us to make money.
Wat is so exciting about ADBL? Their newest product, Wordcast, allows podcasters (and I am quoting and pharaphrasing from the Motley Fool piece), "to charger listeners for subscriptions, management advertising, measure (listener) traffic statistics. This gives advertisers audit results." Apparently you need audit results to attract advertisers. The Mot. Fool artice is dated 11/14 and is a must read.
ADBL isn't really a podcasting company. It sells downloads of audible books, etc, over the internet. It saw an opportunity to enter a new area--podcasting--and went for it. Good management, imo.
Stats on stock: O/S 24.3M
Profit margin: 5 percent
Debt : nada, zip, zilch
And, this one is not trading anywhere near the top of its 52-week range.
Insiders hold only 1.5 percent of the stock, which might mean that there are some nasty stock options out there. Haven't looked into that. Institutions hold another 50 percent of the stock, which leaves about 12M shares for you and me.
FWIW. I own 1K shares, purchased this a.m. The sources of the above info, are Yahoo and the MF article. I haven't done all of the dd I need too. But I am throwing this out now so you can do your own dd before podcasting plays become the next big thing.
My 'om back stock is:
HURC, first brought to my attention here by "patentlawmeister".
They make computerized machine tools for the metal cutting industry--something called vertical machining centers. They also produce the software that goes with the things. The product looks kind of like a laptop computer on steroids.
For the 9 months ended 7/31/05, 34 percent of sales were in North America, 60 percent in Europe, principally Germany, and 6 percent in Asia Pacific. BUT WAIT! They have created a technology center in a city in China that you never heard of, even though it has a population of 12 million. They claim that they have taken orders there already. This is what I find so exciting about this company. The news about the tech center is recent.
Their products automate shop floor processes. Cut that metal, son. 85 percent of sales are from the computerized machine tools and 15 percent from service fees, parts, etc., that is to say, servicing the equipment.
The company's computerized metal cutting machine tools are manufactured in Taiwan by contractors. One is a wholly-owned subsidiary. I see risk in this if Taiwan unifies with mainland China. In fact, I see the technology being stolen eventually. But for now, it's party time, imo.
As of 7/31/05, there were 6.2M shares O/S. Insiders own approx. 18 percent of the stock and institutions own about 33 percent. That leaves about 3 million shares for VMer's to divide among themselves--lol!
There is LT Debt, but they eliminated nearly half of it during the 2003-2004 period.
My source of some of the above info is a "Motley Fool" article put out on October 11, "Be the millionaire next door". Motley Fool likes this company, folks. That is good. Read the article.
The 10Q is due out in a few weeks. The company put out a PR bragging about taking orders at a trade show in Hanover, Germany, in early October, I believe. Add to that their statement that they have taken orders in China, and I'm thinking we might see some good numbers next month, but who knows. Maybe not. Anything is possible.
Again, what has made me want to cultivate this stock as a new best friend is the China thing. What a place of sell state-of-the-art metal cutting tools.
Disclosure and disclaimer:
I own 1K shares, enough for me, thank you. My sources for
the above info, some or all of which might prove to be inaccurate, are the last annual report, the above-referenced
Motley Fool article, Yahoo, and the company website, which basically stinks for investors. But that is all right. The website is set up for customers, not investors. Fine with me.
4 of my 6 pickes are O&G plays. The miserable weather has arrived on the East Coast of the U.S. NGas use should be increasing to a significant degree this week.
This contest ain't over yet.
bbotcs,
in 19th place
littlejohn:
I'll be straight with you. The company that is the "om back" is at or near its 52-week high. And it ain't a cheap stock. It will be a let-down for some, a gem for others. (One poster already has loaded up the truck--not me, obviously.)
The second stock I'm going to throw out for comment. It could be a major glamour play.
You'll know in about 24 hours. Let me add that the stock at the 52-week high has been mentioned on the board previously. The glamour stock is on the Lentiman 1000 index.
Mr. Lentinman is thorough. I'll give him the credit for the glamour play if it pans out.
I'm sporting a rotten cold. Hope I can crawl out of bed tomorrow to make the trades. LOL!

Next week I'm going to do a rare "load up the truck" on a company that already is known to VMers. I want to beef up my position before I broadcast it. There are some heavy hitters on this board who could run up the ask on me!
I have a second stock to put out there. There is a clue in the preceding paragraph. Stay tuned. I think it might be new to this board and the market cap is around $300M, so I hope that it qualifies.
tbone58x: Gamma
Incredible. It would really be crazy if it hit over the Thanksgiving holiday, although it is supposed to arrive earlier. It is very unusual to have a storm hit the lower East Coast of Florida from the west, as Wilma did. This could be another one. I doubt the water is as warm, so it won't be as bad as Wilma. This is November, for crying out loud.
Maybe IPII will recover a little next week.
