Patrick, perhaps those bookmarks are an implied sign of respect for FR. He doesn't attack anyone, maybe OJ once in a while. <g> simply states his bearish stance. No different than the raging bulls we encounter periodically.

Zeev, you still in scon? your pain point still -$2?

LG, thanks for your work in the MDA Update......excellent charts!
West, There's a difference...........MS was untruthful to the government.........GW was untruthful to the people.........

Gold - Headed to $416?......................
Reuters
UPDATE - Gold pushes higher in Asia, eyes $416/oz
Monday February 9, 11:56 pm ET
(Updates to afternoon)
SINGAPORE, Feb 10 (Reuters) - Gold climbed in Asia on
Tuesday afternoon as it looked set to puncture a key resistance
of $416 an ounce this week, after a Group of Seven (G7) meeting
failed to come up with any agreement to stem the dollar's fall.
"The fortunes of gold are still firmly tied to those of the
U.S. dollar with any renewed weakness in the greenback likely
to push gold higher," N M Rothschild said in a report.
At 0417 GMT, spot gold (XAU=) was traded at $407.50/408.25
an ounce compared with $406.25/407.00 last quoted in New York
and London's Monday afternoon fix of $405.95.
The dollar was at 105.57 yen (JPY=) against late New York
levels around 105.70 yen and the euro (EUR=) was at $1.2739
versus $1.2692.
Gold, used as jewellery in Asia, has closely followed
movements of the dollar against other currencies, touching a
15-year peak at $430.50 an ounce on January 6 when the dollar
fell to a lifetime low against the euro.
"We had a good decline from around $431 to $394. So I think
for the time being, the bearish sentiment should be over," said
one precious metals analyst in Sydney.
"At the moment, we are on our way to $416 but we need a
pullback to $401 first. Today's upside will be $409," said the
analyst who pegged key support at $401 and $394 an ounce.
Tokyo gold futures gained despite a steadier yen as local
dealers took cue from a rebound in New York.
COMEX gold futures closed on a more secure footing above
$400 an ounce on Monday, boosted by views in the market that a
struggling dollar should continue to support the precious
metal.
The recent slump in the greenback has made
dollar-denominated gold more affordable for holders of other
currencies.
The benchmark December 2004 gold contract (JAUZ4) on the
Tokyo gold futures rose eight yen per gram to 1,384 yen.
Palladium (XPD=) was quoted at $236/241 an ounce, silver
(XAG=) at $6.42/6.44 and platinum (XPT=) at $836/841.
Plugger - I think the reason AVG can't remove it, it's an .EXE file and it's in use by your computer.
Go in through your search option and locate SETUP_TD.EXE and/or td.exe try to rename them then delete them/it.
Careful you don't delete OS files. I did a search on my win2000 OS and it has no such files so I don't think the files you named are OS XP or 98. .......td.exe looks like the culpert though.
If that doesn't work try to go in to task manager(ctrl-alt-del)and "end task" if you can identify it/them, then go back and rename and delete it/them. At this stage, once you terminate these malicious apps, AVG should be able to handle them also. most anti-virus prog's can't handle any files that are in use.
If that doesn't work you may have to reboot in safe mode and then you may be able to delete it/them without even changing the file names.
That C:\SETUP_TD.EXE/files look like directories so you may have to go in and delete them as well.
Hope this helps
fishweed
Well Augie.......it looks like that COMPQ primary channel held for now.......we bounced off 2000.

G7 Seeks Consensus on Coping with Dollar Drop
Couching a joint statement this time is proving tricky, with the United States happy with the boost a weaker dollar gives its own exporters -- especially in an election year -- and apparently unfazed by the pain it may cause elsewhere

BOCA RATON, Fla. (Reuters) - World financial leaders, meeting in a Florida resort for talks on the global economy, face the tough job Saturday of agreeing on wording to stop the U.S. dollar's drop from spinning out of control.
While comforted by the sharp recovery of the global economy over the past six months, many of the finance chiefs and central bankers from the Group of Seven club of wealthy nations are anxious about the potential currency fallout from huge U.S. trade and budget deficits.
European G7 members, whose exporters have been stung in recent months by the euro's surge to record highs against the dollar, said on Friday they wanted the group to agree to caution markets against further extreme currency swings.
Japan also called for more stable exchange rates while reserving the right to intervene in markets to cap the yen.
Couching a joint statement this time is proving tricky, with the United States happy with the boost a weaker dollar gives its own exporters -- especially in an election year -- and apparently unfazed by the pain it may cause elsewhere.
G7 sources said the communique's wording was still up in the air late on Friday and would not be finalized until Saturday. Ministers said central bankers would be closely involved in that process.
Ministers will begin formal discussions at 9:00 a.m. Saturday and issue a final statement around 5 p.m.
U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow spent much of Friday in bilateral meetings with his G7 counterparts, aiming to defang their most potent criticism of the Bush administration's economic stewardship by saying action was under way to tame huge U.S. budget and trade deficits.
In separate meetings with British, Canadian, French, German and Italian finance ministers, Snow admitted a whopping $521 billion projected U.S. budget deficit in 2005 was "too large" but was on the way to being halved by 2009.
European and Japanese officials have warned that the U.S. deficits -- financed by borrowing from abroad -- are a hazard to global economic stability and have used them to counter U.S. insistence they do more to speed up growth.
The tack, a Treasury official said, was to argue that while the U.S. deficit was large, it was "understandable, given recession, a stock market collapse, two wars and corporate scandals -- it's understandable but we still want to bring it down."
By Friday night at a formal dinner hosted by Snow, the U.S. Treasury chief was again saying, "The number one issue this weekend is continuing the process to create global growth."
Ministers will also discuss emerging economies, progress on tracking terror-related funds and the reconstruction of Iraq (news - web sites).
Argentina may face some pressure to be more flexible in its slow-moving debt renegotiation talks with private bondholders.
Yes, I sold half my DROOY today as well, "take the money when it's offered" <gg>
fishweed
Zeev - That high a % is close to the RFTH level, no? <gg>
Zeev - What % gold you holding through the G7 weekend, if any?
Thanks
fishweed
He's probably more concerned with defending his Iraq policy rather than his economics..........oops, that's politics.
phil - oops!!!! your right SCON earnings 3/29/04
Zeev, earnings on SCON tonight......what effect do you think that will have.....run-up or sell-off?
Patrick, a months supply of insulin in Canada is $20 cdn as opposed to $60 in the U.S. Price may vary some, depending where you buy in both countries.
fishweed
Zeev, ROK is taking a hit today on their earnings. Is there still room on the upside for the defense sector?
fishweed
Thanks augie..........that's all I wanted.......your best guess!
fishweed
Augie, I like your charts...........what's the number at that primary channel "support"?
thanks
fishweed
Augie, nice comp chart - I see we broke through and closed above that long rising channel............does this mean it now becomes support?.............and while everyone is calling for a pullback............we keep climbing that proverbial wall of worry?
fishweed
The puppeteers just may keep this market from dumping...........end of month window dressing!

OT OT Speaking of looks........and a bit political.
What do you think of Frank Stronach's - of Magna International - daughter Belinda, eventually becoming Prime Minister of Canada? Presently running for head of the PC Party of Canada, she would make one good looking PM!.......even this 68 year old took notice. <gg>
fishweed
OT - Thanks for the advice longdong, but I don't want the domain that much.............<gg>
fishweed
Longdong - Talking about monikers.........there are people cruising the net looking for unique names. They take and register them as domains. I went to register "fishweed" for a personal website and found someone had registered it........2 years after I began using it on SI. Not much you can do about it though.................
fishweed
Zeev, perhaps that's what is keeping Mark Johnson from your ankles lately. <gg>
Zeev, where's a good entry into IMX on this pullback?
Thanks
fishweed
Zeev, is there a time limit on when the (SCON) secondary must be brought to market, or can they take their sweet time once they've made their intentions known?
Thanks
fishweed
Bearmove, Has SCON priced their shelf registration yet?
fishweed
Zeev - Out of curiosity, what kind of readings were the turnips giving you on those parabolic rises in the indexes during 99-2000 bubble?
fishweed
Sorry Augie, I don't know either.......those fleeting moments left an impression on me.........it was a rhetorical question.
fishweed
I must concur. Remember that frenzy of TV news clips of handcuffed CEO's being dragged through the streets.........hauled off in paddy wagons, post the Enron fiasco............purely PR...........how many of them ever got to see the inside of a jail cell?
