Volatility index halted for ... volatility
I can't
Opened $6.37 ... 24 seconds - halted after 700k vol ... like watching a death in real time
Literally opened for 22 seconds unreal ... race to the bottom
Great product on the way up ... now wondering why in the world the SEC would continue to allow these notes
Halted again ... this is never going to end ... have to set a limit dollars below last trade and hope it executes in the 45 seconds they resume before next halt?
Resumed - $7.6
Opened for 6 minutes ... halted again
Code M - Volatility Trading Pause
Not gunna get be able to trade at all if they're pausing for volatility now ... didn't make a difference yesterday dropping from $99 to $15
Seeing $9.97 then halted again ... 523k volume
Without a halt this would be bouncing ffs
So troubling. Any firms with outstanding positions could execute on such prior to clients orders. I can't fathom how this could return to normal trading.
Unbelievable ... just as they'd planned ... halve in a session
Unless a brokerage had a short position outstanding, which we'd expect them to have closed out AH yesterday, I can't fathom why they would process a retail 'sale' after the irrevocable call notice is delivered to the Depository Trust Company. If it ever trades again it should immediately drop to NAV - but nothing's happened as it should've this week.
I hope all get as much back of their money as humanly possible.
So this eludes to the valuation on 2/15 being the amount subject to payout ... if I'm backing into this correctly
Their intent is for it to trade through the 20th, assuming no regulatory body or intervening party refuses to allow it to persist. So whatever it finishes at on that day, whether it be the $4 NAV suggested, or yesterday's closing price [in the instance it doesn't trade again] will be the amount paid out per share.
In its notice, Credit Suisse said it will no longer issue new units of the exchange-traded notes, and expects that its last day of trading for XIV will be on February 20. The following day, investors will get a cash payment per ETN equal to XIV's value, Credit Suisse said.
Another question I'd have is will brokers acknowledge/process trades ... this was pretty slimey all in all, CS was the largest investor in their own fund - closed the session at $99 then immediately moved to buy the VIX or swap out their bets while retail watched their holdings tank.
Halt coming here next?
Stair steps up - elevators down
My take is the latter ... whatever the last quoted price on 20th at close or AH, you'll be 'paid' out in a cash-dividend or liquidation sort of pay out.
Just became official coming through the wire ... unreal
6 years to go from $11 to $144 ... gone in a session
Bring on the class action lawsuits
LONDON (Reuters) - Three U.S.-listed inverse VIX ETFs were halted from trading on Tuesday after suffering heavy losses on Monday when a spike in U.S. stocks volatility caused a violent unwind of trades betting volatility would stay low.
Trading in the VelocityShares Inverse Vix Short-Term ETN (XIV.P), ProShares Short VIX Short-Term Futures ETF (SVXY.K) and VelocityShares Daily Inverse VIX Medium-Term ETN (ZIV.O) was halted and all three products had a short sell restriction placed on them, Thomson Reuters data showed.
“Trading is halted pending the release of material news,” Nasdaq said on its website.
