Also interesting but as yet unverified...
Gay games was mentioned on real sports on HBO.....guess what, QTV have the exclusive rights to broadcast the games in 2006."

Thanks Firefight. Read it but it didn't sink in the first time!
Sure feels like we're involved in a lot more than casual branding doesn't it. I think before long it's going to start dawning on us that our stable of heavyweight production and PR firms are not going to be satisfied until this thing is turned into a kind of juggernaut (from dictionary.com: "An overwhelming, advancing force that crushes or seems to crush everything in its path!" LOL)
Pretty soon "all paths" will lead to Q as the "real deal" and it will, in fact, be difficult to type anything into "Google" without Q's name coming up! LOL
Pretty extreme dreaming I know...But I'm banking on enough of it coming true that we're all going to be very happy indeed!
Ron
"The MM's bring the price down to scare those that bought, gobble up the wholesale price, then sell high on news..."
True enough HS. I also believe the MM's collectively have the additional powerful incentive to just keep pushing the price down at every opportunity because of the generally ever increasing spread, expressed as a percentage of the price, between the bid and ask.
With penny stocks in particular, if they can keep decreasing price this practically guarantees them an ever increasing humongous profit for each and every "roundtrip."
In the limit of a $0.0001 Bid versus $0.0002 Ask the MM's are, of course, getting away with essentially a 100 percent profit per turnaround.
Terrific little business isn't it!
Ron
"Andy said we are VERY close. he emphasized VERY & said he could not give a timetable but just "hang in there"."
Thanks Johnson!
Question: When you say "he emphasized VERY" does this mean:
1) Andy added an additional phrase such as "and I want to emphasize the word VERY"?
2) Or was it rather that Andy seemed to you to be raising or stretching out his voice on the word "VERY" in your original quote: "Andy said we are VERY close"?
Thanks in advance.
Ron
"Doesn't that just completely fly completely in the face of the whole concept of chart analysis???? just thinkin..."
I'm afraid it sort of does for me DK.
I spent a lot of time trying to use chart theory once upon a time, all the way from analyzing all the usual formations, MACD, moving averages, etc., to applying Fourier Analysis where you attempt to analyze the frequency content of waveforms.
Charts provide a nice vision a la of 20/20 hind sight, but unfortunately not too much more IMO.
I guess the main problem I was having was how do you pick the appropriate plotting timeframe upon which to base your decisions reliably.
Some simple examples: If you plot a chart using five day bars you get one set of formations upon which to draw trendlines, moving averages, compute indices, and the like.
But simply change this to four or six days bars and you'll likely come up with completely different set of formations and opposite conclusions.
Moving averages are similarly prone to goofyness.
You might decide to buy when the 50 day moving average crosses the 200 day moving average.
But try plotting a 40 day moving average against a 150 day moving average or any other random combination, sometimes differing by only a slight amount, and you'll probably get a completely different set of buy and sell signals.
I'll stop there because I know that a lot of people rely on technical indicators and more power to them if they're successful with them.
It's just that for me I can usually create both a buy and a sell signal for any instant of time just by tweaking how I process the raw input data. LOL
Ron
"In my experience in the corporate world it is all about past performance. Correct?"
Actually Deann, I believe you can make the case that in the corporate world past performance is largely irrelevant and the price history of almost any stock you care to name amply proves this.
That's after all why you see all those "pointy things" whenever you plot a graph of share price, no matter what time scale you care to choose for full scale, all the way from 10 minutes to 10 years and beyond.
If it was "all about" past performance you couldn't even have a stock market because such a concept would be a paradox given the hypothesis.
JMHO - Ron
"But we're going to be represented by Frank Olsen, President and CEO of Q Television Network. Not some hired free lancer or some 4th, 3rd or 2nd string employee."
Agreed CT. Frank Olsen's unique personality and ideas will be part of the continuing process of branding.
Frank Olsen is literally and figuratively the heart and soul of Q. And he's the inventor of direct interpersonal broadcasting intended to meet the needs of gays in their daily lives.
This is his baby and it'll be a dynamite interview!
Ron
"But, then again, this is a financially non-reporting company/stock. Management does not have to verify/certify anything. In essence, they are not responsible to any of us shareholders, eh?!!! Guess we all just have to take Frank's word for it!!!"
There are somewhat more mature developmental "Special Situation" companies out there that provide a somewhat more complete package of disclosure that you may also want to look into Prince.
In fact, many can be found here (highly recommended BTW):

Oh - Did I mention that you'll probably only be able to buy 1/100 as many shares because many sell for more than a dollar?

Updated: 1:51 a.m. ET Jan. 24, 2005LONDON - Is the midwinter weather wearing you down? Are you sinking in debt after the holidays? Angry with yourself for already breaking your New Year's resolutions? Wish you could crawl back under the covers and not have to face another day of rain, sleet, snow and paperwork? Probably. After all, it's Jan. 24, the “most depressing day of the year,” according to a U.K. psychologist.
Dr. Cliff Arnall's calculations show that misery peaks Monday.
Arnall, who specializes in seasonal disorders at the University of Cardiff, Wales, created a formula that takes into account numerous feelings to devise peoples' lowest point.
The model is: [W + (D-d)] x TQ
M x NA
The equation is broken down into seven variables: (W) weather, (D) debt, (d) monthly salary, (T) time since Christmas, (Q) time since failed quit attempt, (M) low motivational levels and (NA) the need to take action.
‘Reality starts to kick in’
Arnall found that, while days technically get longer after Dec. 21, cyclonic weather systems take hold in January, bringing low, dark clouds to Britain. Meanwhile, the majority of people break their healthy resolutions six to seven days into the new year, and even the hangers-on have fallen off the wagon, torn off the nicotine patches and eaten the fridge empty by the third week. Any residual dregs of holiday cheer and family fun have kicked the bucket by Jan. 24.
“Following the initial thrill of New Year's celebrations and changing over a new leaf, reality starts to sink in,” Arnall said. “The realization coincides with the dark clouds rolling in and the obligation to pay off Christmas credit card bills.”
The formula was devised to help a travel company “analyze when people book holidays and holiday trends,” said Alex Kennedy, spokesperson for Porter Novelli, a London-based PR agency.
It seems that people are most likely to buy a ticket to paradise when they feel like hell.
“People feel bleak when they have nothing planned, but once they book a holiday they have a goal, they work toward having time off and a relaxing period,” Kennedy said.
“When you imagine yourself on the beach it makes you feel positive. You will save money, go to the gym and come back to the optimism you had at the end of 2004,” she said...
Many thanks to Zeus1 and Skunks today for their detailed description of Frank on QTN, including Frank's comments about quality and the direction he plans to take the network. Really a stunning description; pretty easy to see that as investors we're really in great great hands.
The majority of us would not have even known about what was on without your excellent reporting.
And yes, old timers here will remember a quite impressive older photo of Frank that used to be on the website. In the photo, Frank happened to be holding his dog, which passed on not too long ago. Frank was very close to that dog we came to understand, and he was very upset when he lost it.
And yes, Frank really cut quite a dashing figure in the old days, if you could have seen the photo. There was a twinkle in his eye even back then that made you want to throw in with him (as many of us have since done).
I think we old timers are understanding even more now; twinkles like that simple will not and cannot be denied.
Pretty awesome how we got here and where we're now going IMHO!

Queer Lounge will be located in downtown Park City at the Gateway Center, 136 Heber Avenue, Ste. 101 and 102, (corner of Swede Alley and Heber Avenue) next door to the Sundance Film Festival Box Office and Festival Store and across from Renee's Bar and Grill."
We've just got to figure a way to get these two great "kids" officially hitched or something. (It's almost incestuous already it seems anyway LOL).
Ron
Kind of a mutual appreciation society as well as spiritual and physical location ambience however (between Sundance and Queer Lounge):
---------------------------------------
http://www.prweb.com/releases/2005/1/prweb193808.htm
After a Successful Debut, Queer Lounge Poised for a Triumphant Return to Park City. Last year's Park City sleeper hit, the Queer Lounge, will make its triumphant return to the city this January during the Sundance and Slamdance film festivals, January 21st - 29th in downtown Park City just off Main Street at the Gateway Center. As the hub for festival-goers, Queer Lounge has a reputation for being a uniquely accessible environment for everyone - gay or straight.
West Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) January 4, 2005 -- Last year's Park City sleeper hit, the Queer Lounge, will make its triumphant return to the city this January during the Sundance and Slamdance film festivals, January 21st - 29th in downtown Park City just off Main Street at the Gateway Center.
Queer Lounge became a phenomenon in its freshmen year as a hospitality suite and destination venue that held impressive parties, press conferences and discussion panels. As the hub for festival-goers, Queer Lounge has a reputation for being an accessible environment for everyone - gay or straight.
"I've run into so many people who said they were at the Queer Lounge last year and had a great time," explains Queer Lounge founder Ellen Huang. Surveys taken after last year's event show that one in three people visiting the Queer Lounge last year were straight. "While most venues in Park City have exclusive VIP lists, the Queer Lounge was created to be all-inclusive. Anyone who's friendly is welcome."
With strong support from the Park City community and corporate donors, the Queer Lounge has expanded their festivities for 2005 to include music with a live performance from Sony Records recording artist Cake at Club Suede. There will also be parties for the Sundance official selection film "The Education of Shelby Knox", TLA Releasing and others, as well as film discussion panels featuring directors and cast members from films in the concurrent film festival.
This year's sponsors of the Queer Lounge include Presenting Media Sponsors: here!, Planet Out, the Advocate; and other major sponsors: Q Television Network, Absolut Vodka, TLA Releasing, All Seasons Resorts, Tylenol PM, Turning Leaf Wines, Coors, B.W. Bastian Foundation and Stella Artois.
Even though the Queer Lounge is not affiliated with Sundance or Slamdance, the festivals have been welcoming to the hub. "Slamdance is thrilled that Queer Lounge is back for a second year," says Slamdance Director Kathleen McInnis. "We love sharing Main Street with such a dynamic organization. The Queer Lounge transcends definition and offers a home for everybody and we're excited to share our home."
A bit of history: The Queer Lounge is the first space created for film festival visitors (gay and straight) to learn more about the gay and lesbian filmmakers and films with gay content that are screening as part of the January "dance" film festival frenzy. Last year, over 4,000 people visited the hub to relax, attend panel discussions or celebrate at one of the five hit parties held at the venue, including a party for Sundance official selection, "Harry and Max," the TLA Releasing party and a revival of the legendary "Homos Away From Home" party with John Cameron Mitchell (Hedwig and the Angry Inch) spinning.
"The obvious fear of many in the ‘straight crowd', myself included," explains film journalist Chris Perry, "is that the Queer Lounge is somewhere they wouldn't be welcome, or fit in. I had the same thoughts, but I have to say that it was my experience that this was perhaps the most accepting, comfortable, clique-free place in Park City."
Last year, the Queer Lounge made local and national headlines during the film festivals when a Salt Lake City theater cancelled a theatrical engagement of the film "Latter Days", a movie about a gay Mormon missionary. TLA Releasing held an emergency press conference at the Queer Lounge where representatives from GLAAD, Equality Utah and Outfest vocalized their support of the film, which eventually found a theater for the film to exhibit.
About the Queer Lounge:
Queer Lounge (http://www.queerlounge.org) promotes the visibility of people, films and issues through events, education and information. The result of these activities is to foster professional achievement, industry recognition and public understanding of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) people and their creative works.
Queer Lounge will be located in downtown Park City at the Gateway Center, 136 Heber Avenue, Ste. 101 and 102, (corner of Swede Alley and Heber Avenue) next door to the Sundance Film Festival Box Office and Festival Store and across from Renee's Bar and Grill.
The Queer Lounge is not affiliated with the Sundance, Slamdance or any other Park City film festivals.
Queer Lounge 2005 Sponsors:
Other sponsors include: Wolfe Releasing, Elizabeth H. Solomon, Cahoots, Picture This! Entertainment, GayWebMonkey.com, Outfest, Frameline, Cybersocket, Passport Magazine, Xodus Magazine, BMI, ASCAP, Girlfriends Magazine, HX, Pink Magazine, Power UP, Newfest, Ron Bukovitch and Scott Jaffa, Coffee Garden, the GLBT Community Center of Utah, and Out in Television and Film.
"I have this feeling LoGo did not expect our little Q to have Great Quality programming and decided to rethink their product. IMHO Q has set the standard that all others must follow."
Sure feels like you're onto something JC. And if NOGO has started developing such feelings it follows that such feelings could be infectious, meaning that a significant drain of advertisers and acting talent away from NOGO in the direction Q may have already started as well.
Could be it's starting to feel within the vaunted halls of Viacom like they're trying to fill a bucket with an ever increasing hole in it. LOL
Ron
Good analysis Froy.
However, I'm guessing things like the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the Fair Disclosure regulation, Martha Stuart's insider info publicity, Worldcom, Enron, etc. have completely changed the landscape as far as insiders having a "leg up" as in the old days.
I believe everybody is running real scared right now and taking the above extremely seriously.
I'll just leave it there as a good reason why, even if the greatest things in the world are happening in the background, the pps (unlike the old days) is probably not going to go up until there is formal public disclosure.
Ron
As we always said Skunks.
Ordinary companies must pay big bucks for a mere minute or two of advertising space on a TV show just to let people know that they're even out there.
In contrast, Q is self advertising. Every minute Q is broadcasting, literally on any subject at all, it's like continuous free advertising and branding before the eyes of the world!
On top of this, a new widget company must market prodigiously just to convince people that never heard about the widget that they can't get along without it.
Q hardly needs any marketeering at all, because Q's market was already pre established and pre disposed to love Q's product eons ago.
JMO, but Votasuperformula!!!LOL
Ron
On the USA Today ads.
Those ads purportedly cost $65K to $75K per installment.
Since new, and maybe previously unforeseen, developments are seem to be occurring at an ever accelerating rate right now, possibly related to NOGO, it's easy to visualize a new dilemma as to when to pull the trigger on the next ad.
Do I wait for the next exciting development, that I know is in the pipeline and is due to hit in a few days, before pushing the $75K button...or do I do it now?
Ron
Appreciate the insightful reply K_Starr. You make a bunch of good points.
Thanks - Ron
"First, I seriously doubt that Here or Q would sign on, nor would Comcast make a demand such as 'all your profit for 5 years'. They would, however demand plenty of up-front cash."
I tend to agree with you on this DK, but I believe we also can't overlook the fact that, in their dealings with Comcast, Here! is a private company, and therefore except for making a handful of internal stakeholders happy, Here! doesn't have thousands of pesky shareholders who need daily stroking plus the worry about how the price of their public stock is affected by their deliberations.
And so I suspect that Comcast negotiations with Here! may have quite a different flavor compared to negotiations with Q.
Feel free to post the last word on this. I agree with the other poster that I've gotten a little too involved on this today. Enjoyed our little debate in any case.
Ron
"I'd be FAR less pissed off if Here! wasn't about to go live with Comcast. Quality of content not withstanding, Comcast corp HQ signed a deal with THEM, not Q. That means SOMETHING."
Who knows what Here!'s strategy is? They've been in Comcast's eye longer, potentially have more money, and maybe even decided to "buyin" with Comcast for zero profit just to gain a foothold.
So here's a question for you...If you were Frank and you approached Comcast, and Comcast said to you, we'll you're an unknown entity, but sure we'll carry you. Oh did we mention that to protect ourselves we want all of your subscription profits and advertising profits for the first five years.
OK, so what do you do DK?
Do you sign on with Comcast anyway just so you can release a big PR reporting to shareholders that you've signed a big contract with Comcast?
Or if not, what would be your next step and why?
Ron
"Todays PR continues Franks long standing tradition of feeding us JUST enough non-conclusive information to make us all jump and scream with joy that SOMETHING is happening."
I'm sorry DK, but there's that us again. Who says he is trying to impress us.
Frank is building a business and if that's successful then we will be too.
Please try to think more outside the box! There are obviously bigger things happening behind the scenes that we are not privy to.
Today's PR obviously helped service that need, and as far as us is concerned, IMO we should just regard the PR as a courtesy progress report, as someone has already pointed out.
Ron
It's simply not fair, logical, or practical to demand that that our company's attempted schedule for "wealth providing" be forced to coincide with the schedule of our personal needs and milestones for "wealth building" DK.
I assembled the chronology of the Info box just for days like this. How you can criticize, and in particular criticize so vehemently without having all the facts, in the face of such a rapid Herculean achievement by our company is just beyond me!
Ron
"No..if I were in Frank's shoes, I would NOT have posted this PR. EVER."
How can you make such a sweeping statement DK, not being in a position to have all the facts?
In pool, what's even more important than making the current shot is leaving the ball in a good position for the next shot, and then on and on down the line in an attempt to "run the table."
How do we know that Frank's didn't release the PR to try and impress the other side in his next difficult negotiation down the line?
Q isn't a widget factory that you're used to. Q is on the forefront of trying to implement and be part of a social revolution of epic proportions; perhaps one of the largest social revolutions to come along in 2000 years.
I'm sure glad Frank is in control of this almost insurmountable process and not one of our "arm chair quarterbacks!"
Ron
You're a smart guy DK. And so I'm sitting here chuckling that if you were in Frank's shoes, faced with Frank's myriad convoluted logistical complexities in coming up with the most efficient and profitable way of spreading Q around the world, I just bet you'd be doing things exactly as he is doing things.
jmho LOL
Regards - Ron
"Folks this is what you need to know right now."
Well put Skunks. Notice also the "after extensive negotiations."
Frank is a shrewd negotiator and we're also running a business here.
It will do no one, including shareholders, any good if Q is running the network gratis or even at a loss after all is said and done.
Who knows...Frank is probably in the middle of other simultaneous "extensive negotiations" around the country (world?) as we speak.
He's got to tread gingerly as we move forward.
And so you couldn't be more correct.
To repeat your opening..."Folks this is what you need to know right now!!"
Ron
We've previously mentioned that actors and celebs like to keep working, and so perhaps a few of them previously connected to LOGO may now be drawn to Q.
Similarly, if I'm an advertiser looking forward to getting a leg up on promoting my wares to gays via LOGO in mid February I've got to now be at least a little disappointed.
It's conceivable that a few advertisers may even be a little resentful after rushing money into developing their sales pitches.
What a timely opportunity Sundance will be to show these advertisers that there's no reason to sulk - Because there's now another rapidly growing new game in town with the potential to overtake LOGO.
And the Q holds no grudges and welcomes all to its ever growing family, etc ... LOL.
Ron
Of course I know exactly what you're saying in spades MB. LOL
In fact, if I tell you I'm coming up on six years here I'm sure you'll also appreciate my reason for bringing that up in this context LOL.
But if I might toss out some free advice (and of course anyone is free to deflect it into the trash can if they want) about long term investing in these tiny developmental companies...
But you just have to try and lower your expectations a bit in order to find some kind of contentment (if not peace) when investing in such companies.
Every developmental company has a mix of 1000 distinct great and not so great features and characteristics associated with it. And no two companies encompass the identical mix of great and not so great things.
And so of course, what you're really doing is buying into a "package" of unique characteristics that you believe will on balance eventually lead to financial rewards. It's sometimes very tough but you have to somehow avoid getting too hung up over one or two of the not so great things that seem contrary to acceptable conventional standards.
Over the years, I've learned that the most important features of this particular company are Frank's dream, his uncanny ability to garner resources, and his unrelenting determination and talent for overcoming obstacles and insurmountable odds.
Not trying to lecture. But I've learned it's much more rewarding to downplay a few "unusual" aspects of Frank's management style and concentrate instead on his superb strong points which ultimately are going to win the day for us.
And that day is not only now almost inevitable, but it's almost as close "as tomorrow," to boot IMHO.
Ron
"...one reason this price is depressed is that he did not keep promises..."
As if the mighty and powerful are as clean as snow MB LOL.
A while back Viacom says it's going to start up a gay television network.
Then they broke their promise by deciding not to do it after all.
Then after some months they broke this (sort of) promise saying they had redecided to start a gay television network because it would be worth a billion dollars, and said they would launch it on 17 February 2005.
Then Viacom broke that promise by saying that they really were going to debut the channel on 30 June 2005.
Meanwhile, through it all, and with undoubtedly far far less resources to make promises come true, but plenty of detractors, Frank just keeps pluggin along.
Something to think about, n'nest pas?
Respectfully - Ron
"Perhaps when Frank saw that LOGO was delaying he decided to delay his announcement on the GMGA."
Interesting new insight Sydney! I wonder if LOGO had some notable celebs lined up who perhaps are now disenchanted with the LOGO delay, and might be approachable (if not under contract of course) by someone else offering new options.
After all, we have the possibility that LOGO was lining up some celebs earlier in 2004, and perhaps had an easy time of it due to the Q appearing to be a much less of a viable option.
But now of course it may be dawning on a few such celebs that there may be another new (Q) Gorilla now arriving on the block that may be even more appreciative of their talents! LOL
Ron
How's that? I sort of "bannerized" it.
Great suggestion OB! I see JC is already tending to it.
Ron
You make valid points Qbidsarrow.
But if I might ask you (and some others) ... regarding your:
"what the hell is a board for? IT IS TO GET ALL THE INFORMATION YOU CAN, GOOD OR BAD!"...
Is the availability of "bad" information amongst the thousands of all types of posts left over at RB in such short supply that we need to replicate all of those posts here as well?
Must the features of a Toyota replicate all of the features of a Mercedes?
Where is it written that the style of all boards must replicate each other down to the last details?
If you can't find all of the negative information you seek on our QBID IHUB board is it such an effort to dial up RB (and several others) once in a while between your visits here?
We're trying to make this board a refuge and retreat from RB for people who appreciate this unique approach and who also genuinely believe in the long range prospects for this developmental company.
Matt has given us this ability to shape it in this way (if we want). This board is unique and unlike any other.
I would like to suggest that if you feel deprived for negative information to balance your investment decisions, perhaps you have only yourself to blame and not due to the style of board that we provide so that you have a bit of a choice on how you spend your precious time (which we all have in such limited supply after all.)
Respectfully - Ron
Nice post 4horseman0!
This is after all a developmental company and absent that fact none of us would have ever have been able to buy in for (sub) pennies on the dollar in the first place!
Of course, for a few here, once "I've got mine for pennies on the dollar" the myriad of all difficult to achieve future developments of a developmental company must then suddenly by definition occur all at once on the very next business day!
To those few - Sorry, but this is the "Generally you can't have your cake and eat it too" planet. Your planet is out there somewhere. Sorry you got off at the wrong stop.
Ron
Not that's it's not already overly obvious, but it sure feels like what we're now witnessing is our "Branding" process in progress.
I believe we've all read psychology studies wherein it's concluded that most human beings require multiple instances of subliminal exposure to a new concept before it even registers with them that they need to take action.
So now what we begin to have is the situation where the next time someone's eyes glance across our "USA Today" Ad their minds are going to subliminally, for lack of a better word LOL, regurgitate the memory...Oh yes that was that new G&L Television Network I heard Dave Letterman talk about a few nights ago.
And on and on...
And by the time someone from Q does a personal interview somewhere (like on letterman?) everyone's interest will be all primed and ready to go, etc.
Obviously, this holds for new carriers, subscribers, etc.
Ron
Per Letterman - Gotta love the juxtaposition of the phrases:
<> "I was unaware of this."
<> "It would be nice if the bi-sexuals got their own channel (laughs)."
<> "...the top ten new shows on the gay cable network"
with our "The Q Television Network" because it seems to paint a mental picture (at least to me) that:
<> Heh - This is "Late Night with David Letterman" and around here we tend (or our job is) to keep track of important current events...
<> This here "Q Television Network" is the original "real deal" folks...(because up to now if there was anything similar worth mentioning (as in Here TV, LOGO, etc.), we would obviously already have built something funny around it (which we have not).
Ron
If anyone knows how to make an MP3 of Dave's Top Ten List tonight we can put the link into the Info Box as well! - Ron
Hope Frank now adds a charming image of Liz to "USA Today" Ad.
Talk about a clever means to draw attention!!!
Ron
