True...I'm the guy that has to go watch the game by myself in the dark basement if my team keeps scoring when i'm down there.
Mickey, while you have been being queiter the price has been rising....keep the mojo going.
I'm guessing they are just delaying the earnings as much as possible and hoping investors forget about the huge pay raises and bonuses. In my opinion we won't see any significant news based on share price action. I will be first to apologize if I'm wrong
why did you buy at 29 if you expect it to continue dropping?
It is confusing..perhaps the experts see this money as worthless as management actually seems to LOSE money (barclays?) instead of using the power of that money and then the rest of it make themselves the most highly compensated team (lb for lb) in the industry. This while always keeping shareholders in the dark and barely doing anything to ever defend the stockprice? If it isn't that then I have no idea.
I thought the same thing when I read that post. My guess is short covering on a huge down day which wouldn't pop the price very much.
This should definitely be asked about in relation to meeting goals and shareholder value in the next CC.
it seems we are getting close to q4 financial results call...seems like a lot of questions out there that could be asked on the call regarding a lot of the issues we have discussed....IE...Huwaii, was it a settlement or something forced down our throats....What is taking so long in the Remand....is Nokia off the hook since they sold handset business...etc.
One thing I don't get that maybe someone can shed light on in all of this is why did only something happen with Huwaii and not any of the other companies (yet)?
I think we ALL knew it was coming.
Just about time for Management to dole out their millions in bonuses. Merry Christmas!
Somebody should be in a Chinese Prison...what another IDCC ridiculous debacle.
I agree it will go the disstance...Nokia didn't pay off of that money for political influence just to settle.
Wow, I have to say that I didn't see this coming. Market makers just can make the price anything they want completely independant of technicals/financials/news/common sense and nobody can do anything about it. Financial terrorism.
the day is still early...let's see where we are at the end of the day before we get worried. Price movement is a MM strategy in short windows. It's all about them making money, not where the fair market value of SP is. Over the long run hopefully it gets closer to the correct Market Value.
I too thought he sounded very excited. Maybe he was happy to be giving the shareholders what he considered very good news?
It seemed to me that the round of patent sales they thought might happen kind of got pretty much nixed a long time ago. I am not sure how you guys missed this since we are all on this board daily and listened to the same CCs. While they didn't say it wouldn't happen, they made it sound like the interest in buying patents had died down.
I like to complain about IDCC management as much as anybody, but in this case I don't see putting out a PR for someone else getting denied a court motion. I don't see how that is PR worthy but maybe I am missing something or not fully understanding the ramifications. In any even i'm sure we all would agree that a settlement would be a much better PR to see.
They do so by following in the footsteps of those using the corrupt politcal court system to their advantage.
When we say customer are we talking like the end users like you or me or like a corporation?
question...now that the iphone is out and there is hardware in the market to support our product, why didn't this act as a catalyst for this stock price? If not the Iphone 5 what is it exactly we are looking to capitalize on.
Stranded in the court room, branded an NPE, what will they say?...Monday in the NYSE.
Sandra Dee can't you see I'm in misery.
I am not an attorney but we see Nokia in the recent past in other courts arguing both sides of the same issue often so I don't see that bothering them.
while it does sometimes seem that way...if we always got hammered down and barely up on good, then the stock would be at 0.
wth, stock isn't trading for 2 hours now? What is going on?
"The revenue guidance includes recognition of revenue for royalty reports received to date, but does not include the potential impact of any new patent license, technology solutions or patent sale agreements that may be signed, or any amounts related to the most recent arbitration decision discussed above or to any other arbitration or dispute resolutions that may occur, during the balance of third quarter 2013."
This is interesting that the NAS halted and earlier today the President is meeting with all of the heads of the various agencies, institutions, the Fed, and all of the other key money entities in the United States. Conspiracy?
That sounds great and I hope so too, but based on previous legal proceedings it seems more likely to me that it's just us getting screwed by way over the top timeframes to help the bigs get out of liscensing longer.
What is to stop them from getting the same deal after going through all of this legal garbage? That is a good question for a CC.
Mickey, this is one time I think you are dead on.
FOSS is the real troll.
I for one would be shocked if we have significant news before this earnings report. Hope I'm wrong but some here seem to be optimistic and I haven't heard anything from management that makes me expect anything this soon.
The rise doesn't seem all that unusual in today's big up market, but the volume is definitely a bit interesting.
totally agree...the court seems like an enabling parent that doesn't want to be too harsh to the child so instead of a spanking just wants to tell them there might be consquences but never give any.
I think if LG was looking to play fair, they would not have tried that ridiculous arb move. If the courts think we have been offering FRAND then it seems the only way they can not make this an ongoing issue for every patent dispute for all eternity is to somehow punish infringers.
I liked the output of the cc overall. One thing I did not like was that it sounds like they don't have any sort of plan with LG yet. I would have thought they had plenty of time since the decision to know exactly where to go with that.
Mpartners also wasn't paying attention to the court cases based on the text of their report. Merrit probably sounded confused because the question didn't make sense. There is no variance.
it was 3-5 years from the beginning. 3-5 minus 1 = 2-4. How is that pushing out math. I went to a major university and did well in math as high as calc. What do you understand that I don't in this equation?
I for one am not a fan right now of them buying more shares...unless they tell us something that is going to add value then it seems they would be making a bad investment. This call tomorrow needs to tell us how they are going to drive share value..not how they are doing the same old things and doubling down on what has not been working.
yes I am however I will be shocked if they say anything other than the usual BS about how confident they are that they will win and their portfolio is strong. Something else that would be a positive surprise sure would be nice.
