One reason that it is hard to find a ground floor opportunity in DME is that the world has an energy and automotive technology infra-structure that has absorbed and will continue to absorb the needs of building out DME for transportation.
Auto manufacturers are already publicly traded
Energy, Natural Gas and Oil companies will take care of the infrastucter, transportation and delivery with what they have in place.
The only ground floor for DME that i see is new and novel products or processes specific to DME that are not already made by..say Boshe or another company.
So..we are left to look at who the international DME association lists and key players in the manufacture and use of DME.
3 of those are in the manufacture... and one is in the use. AFTC.
I've been waiting for Oberon to go public since january 1st. The skid mounted DME production facility is novel and they pretty much have the market on that.
AFT is the only company i have found that has a novel and propriatary DME harware. The High pressure Common Rail Pump.
Keep in mind that they will be considered sole source supplier because the government funded the research...
For JP-8 retrofitting the diesel ground engins and supplying original equipment manufacturers for new vehicles could be just huge.
The they have the DME market for trucks.
I have tried..aside from waiting for an Oberon IPO there is no ground floor opportunity, that i have found, for the DME revolution.
Nice!
More of that to come..SoCalGas going to DME with Oberon..dead LNG transportation facilities.
CNG, LNG, gone. IDA "expect announcements in the coming months regarding DME North America"
DME... 2014
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
You DD that she is cute and i have not funded TD Ameritrade yet!!!
I'm Adding!

This undated Penn State Presentation shows the problem with wear and leakage cause by low-lubricity fuels such as JP-8 and DME that AFT fixed.

Of all the cleaner fuels..DME has the largest potential...
Abstract
With ever growing concerns on environmental pollution, energy security, and future oil supplies, the global community is seeking non-petroleum based alternative fuels, along with more advanced energy technologies (e.g., fuel cells) to increase the efficiency of energy use. The most promising alternative fuel will be the fuel that has the greatest impact on society. The major impact areas include well-to-wheel greenhouse gas emissions, non-petroleum feed stocks, well-to-wheel efficiencies, fuel versatility, infrastructure, availability, economics, and safety. Compared to some of the other leading alternative fuel candidates (i.e., methane, methanol, ethanol, and Fischer–Tropsch fuels), dimethyl ether appears to have the largest potential impact on society, and should be considered as the fuel of choice for eliminating the dependency on petroleum.
DME can be used as a clean high-efficiency compression ignition fuel with reduced NOx, SOx, and particulate matter, it can be efficiently reformed to hydrogen at low temperatures, and does not have large issues with toxicity, production, infrastructure, and transportation as do various other fuels. The literature relevant to DME use is reviewed and summarized to demonstrate the viability of DME as an alternative fuel.

..or " I (HUB) AFTC" with HUB in a heart?
..Im am just off the charts off topic now.
I like Fore and AFT..but Im taking credit for "AFT Sea" :)
Thank You...I enjoy it.. My UG was in Environmental Sciences so that makes it fun. I do look for and post about all of what i find..I would just as quickly post negative DD... to not do so would be unfair to board readers and make what I do post meaningless. I just can't find anything that does not support an amazing potential here.
As much as I might enjoy it..I'm looking forward to the day when I do not need to do it..when it just comes to us without researching the nooks of the internet!
..and I read it on my new Ketch --- (Hmm..how does the name "AFT Sea" sound???) while sailing Tampa Bay and out to the Gulf under The Sunshine Skyway Bridge....whoa..stop me.. talk about "off topic!"

A08-128 is AFTC. I have included a link to the SBIR Summary Report Portal here:
https://portal.armysbir.army.mil/SmallBusinessPortal/Portal/SummaryReports/Default.aspx
You may refine the search by entering the A08-128 into the "topic Field. This Phase 2 submission, specifically, is what the Army referenced in the email to me stating that AFTC was selected and is currently in negotiations. That is clear.
Next is the Department of Defense Contract Awards Posting Site:
www.defense.gov/Contracts/Contract.aspx?ContractID=5231
I belive all completed contracts are posted here as they are completed. I do not know if there is a lag in the time between the competion and the posting. But there are many completed contracts announced each day.
Personal Speculation:
The Army has invested $1.33MM in AFTC to try to develop a pump that will allow low lubricity fuels, in the case of Army, JP-8...to be used. DME shares that low lubricity characteristic.
The Army alone has over 330,000 ground vehicles...Im not sure how many are diesel.
I'm not quite sure how what the Army has said correlates the the shareholder update.. Army said "selected and negotiating" AFTC says complete4d...maybe AFTC completed it summary report to Army SBIR and then was selected..it's unclear. What is clear is that JP-8 was selected and is being negotiated according to the Army... I'll leave each to figure out how all the work in the update is moving forward.
http://altfueltechnology.com/status.pdf
As far as the timeline for how long the contract negotiation will take..not sure, it's not a repeat contract like many being posted..it's new business, new technology, and that may take time. I am confident it will be a multi year and substantial. It should be retro-fitting existing vehicles and new vehicles, I would think that bosche pump would bve supplied to the engine manufacturers under seperate contract so that the pump will become OEM and be installed at the factory.
All the best I can intuit prior to something being announced after contract is in the bank...
IMHO..in part, GLTA en toto
Although there are not a lot of specifics in the update, we did find DD completely (and in larger measure than I had considered) supporting Kathy's assertation that they had begun work with The National Science Foundation.
me.sites.mtu.edu/lee/research/dme-combustion-at-diesel-engine-conditions/
I fully expect, as we move forward, that we will be amazed at the scope of other work she alluded to.
I also believe that when the IDA makes its announcement in the coming months about DME and transportation in the US...AFTC will be a big part of that.
Keep in mind, Volvo has to use lubrication additives (I received an email from Volvo stating same) in their DME trucks right now...Im sure that they feel the same way as does Army...waiting for the common rail pump that makes all that unnecessary. Adding lubrication to DME to stop the wear and leakage of parts also adds...pollution.

The response I received, from SBIR, regarding the JP-8 Army Phase II completion... this is non-edited aside from me removing my name and replacing it with Sleeperstock.
Mr. xxxx (Sleeperstock),
In the SBIR portal, Topic # A08-128, has been selected and is going through contracting to be awarded.
Thank You

Re: Army selection of AFTC
I posted an email I received from SBIR a couple of months ago, I was asking why the Phase II summary report had not yet been marked as final in the SBIR portal (which makes it viewable).
According the the SBIR PMO who responded to my inquiry AFTC has been selected by the Army for the JP-8 work and is now in negotiations.

Question: Last Friday after the 2MM buy, there was about 1.2MM left at .0026 and .0030 (combined) on the ask.
The next ask was .009
I don't see people loading up too much over the pps at any given time so how would that work?
Thanks
Love your enthusiasm! But no, I do not like long shots..I don't take em.
:)
s'why im here.
It has been and is and unless i find a similar opportunity..I wish...will always be the only company in which I personally manage my investment.
Re: DME and California
SoCalGas has one of the largest fleets of compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles in the country.
They have signed a deal with Oberon Fuels to start a DME facility.
When that kind of LDC says it's a go with DME..It is a go with DME.
CNG, LNG, Dead..done..gone.
DME is tho only viable clean fuel alternative.
#TeamAFTC
Oh.. The Vail Global Energy Forum said to expect videos to be made available from their recent BANG BOOM DME segment soon!
Ill wait to speculate on the pps for the army award. That should be multiplied by several dozen or even 100 when considered over the DME commercial value. IDA's announcement upcoming will be very interesting... Also I believe it will be a multi year or open ended contract sole source. big.
Im game for the buy..as always..just dont want to wire funds so Ill catch up next week.
agreed. Ive done very well on the dips in the past few months.
Looking at level two....hmmm can't buy another 2 million without paying .009 for the last third! LOL
I have no idea and care less. Individuals have no power of the future of this stock one way or the other. I think I posted back then that any dip would be met eagerly by me buying. So it was of little concern.
#TEAMAFTC
I was just being pleasant and thats about it! it really had nothing at all to do with you... I dont even think the name of the poster registered with me.
I respond to posts not people.
I did take a vacation from IHUB I sent you a postcard!
I never4 would have seen the current 2014 registration certificate had Luna not responded to an inaccurate email about it being lapsed... silver linings
A convert who did some DD....it's easy to convince those who agree and know the stock... it's better to win over someone who did not know the stock but learned about it.
Yes... its like a rubber band waiting to snap.. welcome
saw them there this am but had not funded tda
TY, Luna.

What's not to like!
If anyone would like the DoD Contract Award Announcement site or the Army SBIR Phase 1 Announcement site I can post them..otherwise it is part of my daily routine to check them for AFT related (and other interest) and other new news and i will post it promptly.

Yes. The research for DME spray characteristics Navistar, Argonne, AFT team etc., assumes that the DME is already being pumped. With AFTC front and center in that research, and with AFTC in negotiations with the Army for the JP-8 common rail pump..seems pretty exciting.
The current vehicles/trucks/Volvo use an added lubrication to run on DME..costly, expensive, cumbersome. But it is the best they had available until the redisigned pump AFT built.
I do believe that the announcements IDA excpects in the next few months regarding the roll out of DME in North American Transportation will also allow them to tell us why they have continued to list AFT as one of 4 companies they call "involved in the production and use of DME"...The high Pressure Common Rail that now requires no add-on lubricity equipment. The AFT pump has elliminated the valve wear issues and leakage issues that are inherent in the pumps due to JP-8 and DME having no lubricity...a big deal.
It should all fall in place when AFT finishes Army negotiations for the JP-8 pump. SBIR sent me an email saying that AFT was selected and are in negotiations, which I have posteed previously. And, I believe, even Volvo (China (AFT supplied the pumps for the initial DME project), Mack, Kogas (AFT supplied the pumps for the initial project), etc.) will all be customers. It will be standard equipment not only on the applicable portion of the 320,000 military ground vehicles, but future DME vehicles and all applications that require pumped DME (generators, ships,(etc).
The Michigan Tech Article about AFTC was great..it showed us that the shareholders updates ...if this is an indication..are factual and should mean great things going forward. I would not have expected this (Michigan tech) to meet the criteria for a separate update as we had been told....and will wait for monitized contracts to be completed and made public so the confidentiatity is no longer in play for real news.
It's the year. No Doubt.
Still wanting to find out the aerospace connection and the agriculture connection. And inquiries to Ford (listed on the Michigan Tech Paper) and John Deere were shut down with confidentiality the reason.
More than we probably even imagine here.
Net Carbon Negative production of a clean fuel. yup.
The IDA said there will be announcements in the coming months regarding the roll out of DME as a Transportation Fuel in North America.
AFTC pumps it...AFTC is on the powerhouse team that is refining the engine combustion characteristics. AFTER the high pressure DME compatable Common Rail they developed.
Im still cheching the daily DoD contract awards. Army said they were selected and are in negotiations. Once that gets done and monitized...it will just be the start of that pump fueling DME.
I won't be at all unhappy to see this go down in the interim.
The only issue here is that we are whipping the horse for no reason.. all we have to do is wait for the gait to open. The race will take care of itsself.

Link and excerpt, for those who may not be able to access the link.
In this joint effort between MTU, Argonne, Alternative Fuel Technology, and Navistar, the experimental facilities and expertise of individual partners will be leveraged to characterize the low temperature combustion of DME. The net outcome of this effort will be fourfold: (i) a comprehensive characterization of DME high-pressure spray combustion; (ii) a comprehensive determination of highly dilute DME autoignition; (iii) development of CFD predictive tool for emissions and combustion efficiency; and (iv) optimization of high pressure DME fuel system validated through MTU-CV and ANL-RCM. The ultimate goal of this project is to further develop a highly efficient engine combustion strategy that uses dilution and high boost pressures.

That's the big issue? Oral definition vs. written?
Enjoy the robust, engaging, informative and interesting posts available here by #teamluna.
I'm sure they will be very informative.
Asking a question entitles you to the answer you get, not necessarily the one you want.
Why do some people think she has "broken her word"? I asked for a reason and got a bunch of nothing. What a cynical and unfounded slander. Certainly nothing that would prompt the person on the other end to be any more forthcoming as far as communication.
How about the theory that if I ask her every week that will somehow be received as anything short of marginally insane..at the very least completely "superfluous" (and in a bad way, not a courteous way) Hmm where was that word then, huh??
I believe "that" because I think AFT is being very reasonable in how they are choosing to move forward. I have absolutely no problem putting myself in the position they have been in for the last year and finding myself acting in the exact same manner.
Were I making communication decisions I would to any extent possible not engage individuals and likely just ignore any repeated requests to be given any information prior to PR.
Sound business in my book.
Silence is golden...
Just for those who are not aware. AFT is a huge deal in DME and in JP-8.
I take Kathy at her word that they appreciate us and whatever positive impact we might have had in AFTC getting there.
Now we are just the people who believed in them from the start ..and I honestly feel Kathy will be glad that many of us are on this ride with them
Our needs are, appropriately and I do not feel with any malice, very secondary to securing their future..which will, secure ours.
Im finding board interactions continually un-evolving and tedious.
As Norma Desmond might have said...
"AFT IS big...it's those initial investors faith and patience that has gotten small"
On that note...
all my best
