Kiplinger states that a speculation bubble accounts for 25% of current oil price, and that all commodities bubbles will be bursting soon. Rationally speaking, that should not hurt us or the oil market, and could even help with god-forbid increased oil demand. Of course, the stock market can be just as irrational as rational. I'd like to hear a rational explanation of our current bulls@#$t share price. Anyone?
yes, dpdw is going to be more and more attractive to buyout suitors as they continue along this growth path. if i were buying them, i'd make damn sure i'd be buying r. smith with it. which is even more assurance that at least his shares probably won't be seeing the market anytime soon, imo. and if i could afford it, i'd want to buy the whole team.
let the bulls run. it's long overdue.

as for guessing about the equipment on the cams, i don't think anyone is against that, within reason. besides, it's quite fun, and it keeps the interest up and i see no harm in it (again, within reason). obviously the AUV idea is pretty much shot down, but i'd be disappointed if we see those things strapped on as mufflers to some big generators, lol!

whatever they are, they look expensive!
also, the holes may not be permanent. they may be there to assist in positioning the equipment inside the housing, then sealed. again, just wagging.

AUVs can navigate inside a net of acoustic beacons; this is known as Long Base Line (LBL) navigation. When a surface reference such as a support ship is available, Ultra-short baseline (USBL) positioning is used to calculate where the subsea vehicle is relative to the known (GPS) position of the surface craft by means of acoustic range and bearing measurements. When it is operating completely autonomously, the AUV will surface and take its own GPS fix. Between position fixes and for precise maneuvering, an inertial navigation system onboard the AUV measures the acceleration of the vehicle and Doppler velocity technology is used to measure rate of travel. A pressure sensor measures the vertical position. These observations are filtered to determine a final navigation solution.

looks like that nice shot of yours in the yard shows signs in the dirt of a big piece of equipment that was recently moved, likely just after being hit with a coat of primer, judging from the color of the wet stuff on the ground. ooh ahh. ;)

can anyone tell whether the caps are removeable by ROV? ruling that in or out would probably go a long way toward figuring out where/how they might be used, i.e., to cap an umbilical, house a manifold control, etc.
so . . . is the thinking that the size of the hole is umbilical size? like maybe a plug-in to a manifold?
