Space Systems/Loral has signed a long-term supply agreement with Emcore for high-efficiency, multijunction solar cells to be used in SS/L's spacecraft programs. The new contract between the two companies, which have worked together for more than 10 years, runs from 2009-2014. The photovoltaic cells will be manufactured at Emcore's production facilities in Albuquerque, NM.
Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
"Emcore's photovoltaics division continues to grow at a rapid pace and has recently secured more than a dozen new production programs for fully integrated space solar panels as well as solar cells," according to Hong Hou, company president/CEO. "Emcore remains committed to manufacturing the highest quality, best performing solar cells and panels in the industry. Satellite manufacturers and solar array integrators continue to rely on Emcore as an independent supply source that meets all of their satellite power needs."
Emcore says it is the largest manufacturer of highly efficient radiation-hard solar cells for space power applications. With beginning-of-life conversion efficiencies of 30% and the option for a patented, onboard monolithic bypass diode, the company's multijunction cells provide the some of the highest power outputs to interplanetary spacecrafts and earth-orbiting satellites.

http://ih.advfn.com/p.php?pid=nmona&cb=1242844455&article=37819404&symbol=N^ACAS
Mirion Technologies Health Physics Division has received orders through Mirion’s distributor RadiCo to provide over 20 body contamination monitors to Russian nuclear power plants in Smolensk and Volgodonsk.
The Mirion equipment includes both HandFoot-Fibre™ and TwoStep™-Exit monitors from the Rados™ CheckPoint:BodyTM product line. The HandFoot-Fibre hand/foot/clothing radiation contamination monitor is used in situations not requiring a whole body monitor. The gasless TwoStep™-Exit whole body monitor is designed to check for beta and gamma contamination on personnel leaving the controlled areas of nuclear facilities. Both monitors incorporate Mirion’s proprietary BetaFibre™ scintillation detector technology that does not require the expensive gas connections or on-going maintenance of gas-based detector systems.
"We are honored to continue to supply contamination and clearance equipment to the Russian nuclear power market,” said Antony Besso, President of Mirion’s Health Physics Division. "We believe our next-generation monitors will help our customers maintain high performance at a reasonable cost."
ABOUT MIRION TECHNOLOGIES
Mirion Technologies is a world leader in radiation detection, measuring and monitoring. Mirion has 13 facilities in Europe, Asia, and North America. Mirion Technologies is headquartered in the San Francisco Bay area and is a portfolio company of American Capital (NASDAQ:ACAS).

Hacketts tells vendors payment of overdue bills unlikely soon
Monday, May 18, 2009, 3:07pm
OGDENSBURG – The owner of Hacketts department stores is telling vendors it is unlikely they will receive payment soon for overdue bills that in many cases are nearly a year old.
“Since January 2009, Hacketts has been suffering from a severe cash shortage in significant part as a result of our lender’s decision to terminate Hackett’s line of credit, which has required the company to devote most of its available cash to pay back the balance owing to the lender,” said Thomas Scozzafava, chief executive officer and president in a May 13 letter to vendors.
“Consequently, Hacketts was unable to stay current with its trade payables, and this led to the recent involuntary bankruptcy filing against Hacketts which has now been dismissed.”
In St. Lawrence County, the long-time retailer operates stores in Ogdensburg, Massena, Potsdam, Canton and Gouverneur.
The letter continues, “The good news is that this difficult period shows signs of nearing an end as sales have remained strong and the company has reduced the indebtedness to its working capital lender from $5 million in December 2008 to just under $1.2 million today. At the current pace, the company will pay off the balance in just over 13 weeks.”
Scozzafava continued, “Management recognizes that Hacketts has significant payables owing to its vendors and other stakeholders. Hacketts is committed to staying in business serving our customer and to paying our trade and other obligations as soon as possible.
“However, until the current line of credit is repaid and a replacement line of credit is secured, it is unlikely that payments on past obligations can be made.”
