You flew home!!
It was nice to meet you, as well. The next time will be when the whole mess is settled in our favor and that will entail some drinking :)
I believe it was about the one item.
the attorneys? I missed the part where they joked/mentioned him...that was my reporting through Bembo. Sorry, can't give you a good read on it personally.
I do have to say that the lead attorney for JPM was a bit disorganized and at one point the judge commented on how his aurgument was not self evident from thes filings. But today was clearing off debtors that they don't want to have to pay. I think there were 4 I made notes on, nothing big.
No mention of the big money.
OK. Bembo and I were in the court room, and as he has a long drive ahead of him, I will report and let him add to my account as he sees fit.
Very factual, quick by the attorneys for JPM...getting certain objections for the debtors excused and ruled on by the judge.
Quick in and out...I missed the first 5 minutes and apparently, attorneys for both sides poked fun at Clarke being present the last time.
Bembo? What did I miss?
I will take notes as copiously as I can, but I have no ability to twitter, etc. once there, so it will all be a play by play after the fact!
OT: Mods, please let stand for today.
If anyone else is going to the court hearing today and wants to meet up face to face...I will be going and have a turquoise shirt on and extremely short hair.
Am posting now because I will not have access again to post during the day.
I will post my observations this evening.
Ilene
I am still willing to go sit in court on the 28th...
well, I hope it's not too much...I was worth more a few weeks ago :)
well, if a latte will do that to you...
OK...so we'll meet at BrewHaha and I'll try and get some reporters there...
I'm sure you're right about that! I have never tried.
They do have a lockers near the parking garage that you can put disallowed items in...
just don't bring a cell phone...they won't let you in the Wilmington courthouse with one
perfect!
I'm right down the street...I may try to be there, as well.
I have to agree with you, sadly. Each day there is more evidence that our way of life is threatened by the very people we have trusted to guide us. I found today's display by the government to be shameless and appalling. I can only hope that THJMW does the right thing...not so much for my portfolio but to restore some semblance of faith in the system.
Not only will the judge have read all the written aurguments prior to the 22nd, a friend of mine is a Superior Court judge, and he told me that when there is no jury involved most cases are decided by the judge before oral aurguments!
I hope you know that I'm not trying to be coy...it's a compliance thing and I am visible within my community and so am watched.
domestic, both bank and brokerage divisions, large and well known by its present name especially in the west US, where it is based.
Ouch!
:)
I am unable to post exactly who I work for, but it is a very large banking/brokerage firm...we have a restriction on placing limit orders or stop limits on WAMUQ, and of course, because of the price, I can't recommend it, but otherwise no limitations
This was a crappo day, wasn't it? I have to say though, the speed with which JPM went down, especially at the end of the day, was fascinating to watch. Wamuq's price felt contrived to me. We started off down sharply out of the gate, and then recovered and hovered, while the rest of the market tanked almost all day long.
Making projections can be such a fool's game, but I do believe that we may bounce soon...
cute :)
first name, last initial
are you kidding?? this is one of my favorites!
I've been lurking here for a long time and am heavily invested myself...I can't post during the day, and can't recommend to clients because of the price, but I appreciate the amazing DD here. I was just saying officially, there is nothing out that a broker could say...in regards to the .27 settlement price. we're on the same team, believe me!
I am a broker, with a very large firm, and there is no information out there about a settlement. In fact, I was listening to a call today from our research guys, and they were suggesting JPM..no mention at all of any liability with WAMU, nothing! There is no information available, and unless you are trading through JP Morgan Chase or a subsidiary, no one has any knowledge.
Is there some event we are waiting for? I stumbled on this when the volume was just starting up, but cannot find any impending announcement or anything...love to see the action...any ideas?
I agree with your analysis, but it looks like the MOC still scheduled for July 8, is that right? Perhaps they are close, but not close enough to some asset sales that they need a little more time to conclude which of the leases they want...the 90 days looks as though it's a precedent, so they woulddn't ask for less than that; might as well give themselves the max time allowable, jut in case. Thoughts?
Your broker should be able to help you specify which shares you want to sell, but that is usually done for tax purposes really (for example, if you had purchased shares in May '08, December '08 and May '09, you might elect to sell your May '08 shares since those would represent a capital gain vs. the others which are short term gains currently).
On your tax schedule, you total purchases together and sells together, so that if in this calendar year you spent $10,000 on SPNG purchases and netted $25,000 from SPNG sells (long term together and short term together), you would have a $15,000 gain, regardless of which shares you had remaining.
This is a crude explanation, but I hope it helps!
Did anyone else notice that JPM fell off a cliff at the end of the day...wonder??
That's what I'm hoping!
Please, any attorney in the group is welcomed to correct me, but in my limited (volunteer in the court) experience, when the judge agrees to change something on the docket, it's usually because of some material change in the case.
Maybe they'll put a link to the interview on their site?
Did you place a sell of ONMC just before it switched to the new symbol? That would explain it.
let me throw my 2 cents in here, may or may not help at all...I was in a conversation last night with someone who has been in the brokerage industry for over 30 years; he was relating a story of a time when a stock was trading very thinly, and after two months of not finding a market at all, he was contacted by two trading firms within hours of one another to offer to buy his shares at his asking price. As it turns out, the next business day, it was reported that the company in question was being bought out at a price that was over 4 times his price...again, may not have anything to do with this situation, but given the halt, there has to be some reason that firms are willing to make a market.
fwiw, I've been lurking here for some time, and do own a small position.
